By: Oluwatosin Faleye In a significant political development in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, June 23, 2025, received prominent leaders of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The delegation, led by Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele PhD and Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, met with the Governor in what is seen as a precursor to their formal declaration to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in the state. Other notable figures in attendance included Dr. Ekelojumati PhD, Hon. Olowo Fuja, and several influential grassroots mobilizers across various local government areas of the state. The meeting, which held behind closed doors, was described as cordial and strategic, marking a turning point in the state’s political realignment ahead of future elections. Governor Abiodun, while welcoming the group, praised their statesmanship and readiness to work towards a more united Ogun State, emphasizing that the APC remains a broad-based party committed to inclusive governance and sustainable development. “This is not just a political move, it is a patriotic decision to consolidate progress, foster stability, and build a future of shared prosperity for our people,” the Governor said. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele commended the Governor for his open-door leadership and progressive strides across the state, stating that the visit is a step towards formalizing their decision to align with the APC. Hon. Akinlade, a former Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidate and respected political figure in the state, affirmed that their group is committed to adding value to the APC’s mission and ensuring continued growth and peace in Ogun State. The group is expected to make their formal declaration and integration into the APC in the coming weeks. This development signals a major boost for the APC in Ogun State and underscores Governor Abiodun’s rising profile as a unifying force in the political landscape of Nigeria. |
It is high time someone pulled the brakes on the ridiculous charade called Lado 2027. The people of Ogun State are not fools, and we are not available for sale to the highest bidder, no matter how deep his pockets go. The level of mediocracy and sycophancy that the LADO group and their co-travelers are prepared to go for handouts is alarming. The entire Ogun State indigenes and Nigeria at large knows that Ladi Adebutu does not have the mental capacity nor resources to aspire for the office of governor of Ogun State, rather it is the singular ambition of his billionaire father, Sir. Kessington Adebutu for the ADEBUTU name to have the title, His Excellency, Governor Adebutu!!! How can any sycophantic person associate Ladi Adebutu with development? This is a man who has never started anything and completed in his over 63years on earth. The house he lives in Iperu was bequeathed to him by his grandmother. Every property associated to his name was “acquired” through the benevolence of his wealthy father. The only notable gulf-retreat real estate development associated with him in Iperu has been lying untouched and uncompleted for almost two decades. The farm infrastructure was passed down to him from his father, the failed multibillion meat processing facility in Iperu was fully funded by his father. All the vehicles he drives were bought and handed over to him by his father. Not to mention his weekly, or is it bi-weekly “aged allowance” from his father!! The Park Inn hotel Abeokuta, where he and his goons do their “kindergarten bojuboju“ play, (hide and seek) is at his father’s expense. Maybe the 2027 PDP governorship posters and ticket should read, “SIR. KESSINGTON - ladi- ADEBUTU FOR GOVERNOR”, At least, we will know who we are being asked to elect. The fact is that, Ladi is hopeless, disillusioned and incapable of handling or managing any organized structure talk-less of a state like Ogun. My candid advice is that, Baba should set aside a large “governorship aspiration trust fund” for the actualization of his dream through the next generation of the Adebutu dynasty. Any of his grandchildren, be it male or female can be governor of Ogun State, but not Ladi. We are told that Baba Ijebu’s enormous wealth can do the imaginable, that Baba can use his wealth to stop the sun from rising, that he can even make the moon disappear! Alas, Baba Ijebu is a mortal and his wealth, God’s doing. If truly Baba Ijebu is as close a friend to President Tinubu as they want us to believe, he should not use his vast wealth to fund the PDP or any apposition or coalition against his friend come 2027. As the saying goes, we graciously plead with Baba Ijebu not to impose this burden called Ladi on Ogun State. This must not be his parting legacy to us considering all he has done for humanity. God has been good and kind to him. Thank you Baba Ijebu for yielding to the pleadings of the downtrodden. Waliu Oladipupo. Abeokuta.

Describes It As Mere Theatrics and Deviation from Legal Actions A coalition of civil society organizations, led by the Independent Public Service and Accountability Watch (IPSAW) and Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative (TADI), on Wednesday, condemned what they described as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “theatrics and deviation” from legal pursuit of justice following her continued sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. The CSOs expressed profound disappointment over what they termed “a dangerous detour from truth, justice, and democratic integrity,” insisting that Senator Natasha has chosen political dramatization and media sensationalism over formal legal redress. Addressing the press, Comrade Adeniran Taiwo Olugbenga and Comrade Stephen Eriba, who spoke on behalf of several advocacy groups including Allied Civil Society Organization (ACSO), Guardians of Democracy and Development, and Forum of Progressive Youth Leaders (FPYL), maintained that the Senator’s continuous engagement with social media, defamation suits, and “cryptic threats” has only muddied the waters and diverted public attention from the core allegation. “This is not how democracy works. This is not how justice is pursued,” they declared. They highlighted the gravity of Senator Natasha’s original claim, that she was sexually harassed on the floor of the Senate by Senator Akpabio, as one that demanded a direct, evidence-backed legal action, not what they described as a “media-fueled crusade riddled with emotional outbursts.” While acknowledging the gender imbalance and the courage it takes to speak against a sitting Senate President, the coalition insisted that genuine justice can only be achieved through judicial processes, not “Facebook posts, defamation suits, and allusions to invisible enemies.” “When you raise an allegation as profound as sexual harassment, especially against the nation’s third-highest-ranking official, the burden of proof is not a political inconvenience, it is a civic duty,” the statement read. The groups warned that Senator Natasha’s current approach could harm both male and female participants in politics, making real survivors of abuse less likely to be believed, while exposing others to reputational harm without due process. They emphasized that the weaponization of gender-based allegations for political sympathy or vendetta risks undermining decades of advocacy for gender inclusion, justice, and due process. “We refuse to allow the gains of gender equity and political decency to be sacrificed on the altar of personal sensationalism,” the coalition added, urging Senator Natasha to file a direct sexual harassment suit if her claims are genuine. The CSOs also appealed to women’s rights advocates, gender-based organizations, and civic actors not to rally behind individuals based on sentiment but to support systems that ensure fairness, integrity, and protection for all parties involved. “No one should be silenced, but no one should be allowed to hijack the moral weight of real struggles for personal gamesmanship,” they said. The statement concluded with a warning: “Senator Natasha still has the opportunity to restore the integrity of her cause. But the clock is ticking.” |
Condemns act, seeks whole-of-society cooperation against insecurity The Senator for Zamfara West, Alhaji Abdul-Aziz Abubakar Yari, has told the people of Benue State and Nigeria in general that President Bola Tinubu was not the type of leader given to empty threats and therefore expressed confidence that he would go after those behind the recent killings in Yelewata, Benue, and bring them to book. Yari, the Senate Committee Chairman on Water Resources, while condemning what he described as “gruesome murder of the innocent and harmless” also sought what he identified as “the whole-of-society” approach to combating insecurity. Addressing the Benue massacre, a development he further described as devastating, Yari said the president has not only shown responsible and responsive leadership by identifying with the people of Benue and also visiting the state, the Wednesday “on-the-spot actions” that he took were marks of a hands-on leader.” According to the former governor of Zamfara State, “The president is capable of containing the situation and even if it means adopting totally extreme strategies to give every part of the nation peace, he would do it, because he was elected to secure the nation and the people and this much he understands.” Yari further explained that, “His (Tinubu’s) decision to suspend everything he was doing and to also keep others on hold are worthy of note. If we understood the responsibilities associated with the office of the president, we would see the empathy in his decision to personally visit Benue. “He could have delegated a high-powered team to visit and stand in for him while he’d go on with his other commitments. But he decided to show leadership and identify with the people, who showed him love through their votes and also believed in his person and leadership. “I can assure the people of Benue and Nigeria in general that those behind this dastardly act will not get away with their mindlessness. Those in charge of security also know the implication of not living up to billing, so no one is kidding here. “The criminals will be apprehended sooner than we all can ever imagine. The president doesn’t issue an empty threat. He meant what he said and said what he meant. They will not get away with this, and whatever their motive was, we will also unravel soon. But, ultimately, this madness has to stop, and it will stop.” Yari, however, appealed to the people to also see the security of the society as their business and responsibility. “Together, we can all confront this menace and decimate it. We need the whole-of-society approach to be able to defeat this monster and common enemy. This is the time we all must put on our intelligence garb. “Everybody – every citizen – must become an intelligence officer for the sake of the sanity of the society. We all must pay attention to happenings around us and give timely and pivotal information to relevant authorities to be able to nip the menace in good time.” He, therefore, commiserated with the people and government of Benue State; the families who lost their loved ones in the killings and as well prayed for those still recuperating in the various hospitals across the state, saying the Almighty Allah would perfect their healing. |

Melodies & Moments: Echoes of the Past, Promises of the Future The Corona School Choir delivered a moving rendition of the school anthem, stirring hearts with collective pride. Younger pupils from Ikoyi charmed everyone with nostalgic school songs, bringing smiles to faces. A truly soul-stirring performance by talented saxophonist Saratu El Samaila—whose mother is also an alumna and traveled all the way from Minna with her husband to witness her performance—added a touch of elegance and generational talent. Former Governor Donald Duke thoughtfully reflected: "Corona has always been more than academics. It’s about mentorship, nurturing values, and preparing minds for leadership. That’s its real legacy." Looking firmly to the future, Mrs. Adeyoyin Adeshina, CEO of the Corona Schools Trust Council, unveiled one of the anniversary’s most ambitious legacy projects: a state-of-the-art Tech Hub designed to future-proof students for the digital age. "Education must evolve," she asserted. "This Tech Hub will prepare our children for a rapidly changing world filled with possibilities." Justice Bukunola Adebiyi, Chair of the Corona Trust Council, added: "Seventy years is not just a number. It’s lives transformed, dreams birthed, and a commitment to excellence that remains unshaken." Mr. Akin Sawyerr, MD NELFUND, also spoke passionately about the school’s foundational role in shaping future leaders. The Legacy of Giving: Fueling the Future A highlight of the evening was the powerhouse ₦200 million fundraising initiative, passionately championed by Caroline Olaseinde and the dedicated fundraising committee. Beyond rallying VIP attendance, her tireless efforts successfully secured substantial funds for both the new Tech Hub and a vital scholarship endowment fund. In a moment of inspiring generosity, Fred Ijewere kickstarted the contributions on behalf of Corona School Victoria Island Alumni, committing a significant amount towards the Tech Hub's shortfall. The excitement continued with a live bidding on exclusive artwork by Professor Bruce Onobrakpeya, further propelling Corona closer to its ambitious legacy goals. Keem Belo-Osagie, Chair Metis Capital Partners and an Ikoyi alumnus, proudly reminded everyone of the school’s pioneering spirit, reinforcing that Ikoyi Creche—then known as Corona Day Nursery—was the very first branch, setting the incredible pace for all other Corona Schools. A Night That Refused to Conclude! As the inspiring speeches concluded, Co-Chairperson Sola Alamutu (The Green Queen) led the organizing committee members onto the stage to a thunderous standing ovation. "This night is proof of what love for an institution can achieve," she beamed. "And it all started 70 years ago with the birth of Corona Nursery School, Ikoyi—the first of all branches!" The electrifying Magnifico Band soon had guests swaying and singing along, while DJ Cheflon ignited the dance floor, keeping the party pumping well into the night. The celebratory energy lingered in hearts and minds long after the final song faded. Corona@70 black tie gala dinner wasn't merely a reunion; it was a living, breathing testament to community, a vibrant celebration of legacy, and a bold affirmation of excellence. For every guest privileged to witness this spectacular affair, the night will remain etched as a glittering reminder that after seven remarkable decades, Corona’s best chapters are still very much being written.

I read with deep shock and concern, statements credited to prominent national coalition leaders regarding the recent tragic killings in Benue State. While it is often said that all is fair in battle, it is disheartening that advocates of the "Rescue Nigeria" slogan would make such inciting and politicized remarks about a situation that should attract total condemnation from everyone. To politicize the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians is not only insensitive but grossly unfair, especially when the tragedy is clearly not as a result of government’s inaction. Rather, what we are witnessing are calculated attempts by politicians to create a sense of despair across the North Central part of the country for political gains. A failed attempt to paint a failing state under this administration. Elder statesmen ought to exercise restraint. Now is the time for them to "count their teeth with their tongue," as the Yoruba would say, and rise above the urge to score cheap political points. Where is our empathy? Where is our humanity? Where is our soul? What Nigeria needs at this point in time are constructive ideas, practical solutions, and collaborative efforts, not divisive rhetoric. There are established channels through which national figures can share useful insights with the government, rather than resorting to social media grandstanding. As an ordinary citizen, I humbly propose the establishment of a, “National Agrieved Elders' Security Advisory Council”, a forum that allows opposition elder statesmen and women to offer their views on how to tackle our current security challenges. This would at best eliminate the excuse of non-access to the President and ensure that valuable suggestions, if any, get to the appropriate quarters. It is laughable and tragic that people would claim to possess solutions to our national security crisis but would prefer to play God by holding back until they get into power in 2027. Such a stance reveals a lack of patriotism and disturbing willingness to let the nation bleed for political advantage. Let us all be reminded that the cracks in the wall and leaks on the roof of the Nigerian state are not President Tinubu’s fault, rather they are symptoms of deep-rooted systemic failures that date back to the very foundation of this Republic in 1999. It is therefore worth asking that if 99.9% of today’s coalition leaders were active players in government since 1999, what exactly do they have to offer now beyond their desperation to return to power, what new vision are they bringing to the table? Nigeria is greater than anyone’s ambition. The nation will outlive the pessimism and ill-will of those who wish to see it fail. And this administration, by God’s grace, will succeed not because it is perfect, but because future generations deserve a nation that is united, secure, and progressive. I come in peace. Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A) Former Member, 8th National Assembly 16th June 2025 |
Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, a former member of the House of Representatives and gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposed Forest Guards Program, calling it a timely and strategic intervention in Nigeria’s national security architecture. He also urged that the initiative be modeled after the United States Forest Rangers to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability. Akinlade identified undocumented migration from the Sahel region as one of Nigeria’s most pressing national security threats. Commending President Tinubu’s foresight, he emphasized that the Forest Guards initiative is a step in the right direction towards safeguarding the nation’s vast forest reserves and rural territories. According to Akinlade, Nigeria’s current security crisis has deep roots in the aftermath of Muammar Gaddafi’s fall in 2011, which led to the disbandment of his formidable 800,000 strong army; comprising only 30% Libyans and 70% foreign nationals from countries such as Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan, and Senegal. He noted that the collapse of Libya’s military apparatus unleashed an uncontrollable wave of arms and combatants across the Sahel, fuelling armed rebellions and terrorism in the region. “Intelligence reports reveal that Gaddafi had over 29 weapons bunkers scattered across the Sahel. After his death, many of these weapons fell into the hands of insurgents and non-state actors, further destabilizing the region. Nigeria has been a major casualty of that chaos,” Akinlade stated. He emphasized that only a coordinated and strategic initiative such as the Forest Guards programme can meaningfully curb the violence, especially forest-based criminality like banditry, kidnapping, and illegal migration. If modeled after the U.S. Rangers, the programme would provide a vital, decentralized security buffer that supports the efforts of the Nigerian military and police. However, Akinlade cautioned against placing the Forest Guards under the operational control of the Nigeria Police or the Armed Forces. Instead, he proposed the creation of a dedicated Federal/State security agency, fully focused on the Forest Guards mandate. He recommended a personnel structure made up of: 20% commissioned officers (graduates) after 9 months of training, 75% non-commissioned officers (school certificate holders) after 6 months of training, and 5% retired military and paramilitary officers to serve as instructors and field experts. He advised that the Forest Guards Agency be domiciled within the Ministries of Forestry and Agriculture, with mandatory training conducted in partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service to enhance capacity for migrant profiling and forest surveillance. This, he explained, would allow operatives to distinguish between Nigerian and foreign tribal groups—for instance, the Yoruba-speaking populations of Benin Republic and the Sahelian Fulani tribes. Akinlade further stressed the importance of local inclusion, urging that indigenes, community leaders, and traditional rulers be integrated into the programme’s recruitment and operational structure. The Forest Guards, he argued, must be trained in the use of firearms, drone surveillance, infrared technology, and heat sensors, and be equipped with sufficient logistics to cover forest terrain. They should also possess the authority to apprehend and hand over suspects to relevant security agencies for prosecution or deportation. Highlighting the economic implications, Akinlade said the program will provide employment across Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas, stimulate rural commerce, and contribute to local economic development. “This is more than a security initiative; it’s a socio-economic stimulus for underserved communities,” he noted. He concluded by praising President Tinubu’s administration for its bold investments in national development, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal road, renewable energy projects, agricultural reform, aviation, the blue economy, and critical road infrastructure. Hon. Akinlade called on all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or faith to support the Forest Guards programme. He also urged the National Assembly to treat the programme as a matter of urgent national importance and to enact necessary legislation to back its full implementation. By Oluwatosin Faleye The heart of man is truly full of wickedness and nowhere is this clearer than in the recent avoidable tragedy that claimed the lives of 21 young athletes from Kano State. These were vibrant, determined youths who proudly represented their state at the 2024 National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State. On their journey home, after enduring countless challenges to prepare and compete with pride, they died in a horrific accident when their bus plunged off Chiromawa Bridge on the Kano-Zaria Expressway. *Lives Wasted by Negligence, Not Fate How could this have happened? How can athletes representing an entire state be subjected to a dangerous 16-hour road trip across 1,028 km, rather than being airlifted like dignitaries, VIPs, or religious pilgrims? *Where is the value for life.Where is the priority for the future? A government that fails to protect, yet finds billions for pilgrimages. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved a ₦1.45 billion subsidy for 2,900 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia—₦500,000 each for a religious exercise. Yet, the same government could not allocate funds to ensure the safe return of the youth representing the state in a national sporting competition. To add insult to irreversible injury, the government announced a ₦1 million compensation for each bereaved family. But the question is, can ₦1 million replace a life cut short? Can ₦1 million restore the lost future of a potential Olympic champion? Would this tragedy have occurred if leadership had put safety over ceremony? *Critical Questions That Must Be Answered Would the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Bala Fagge, make that same dangerous road trip in that same bus? Was the bus roadworthy? Was it newly acquired or an overused death trap? How many trained drivers were assigned to such a long, high-risk journey? *Was there any emergency response plan in place?* These are not rhetorical questions—they are demands. Because young lives have been lost, not to an act of God, but to poor planning, negligence, and a lack of foresight. ...No Public Holiday Can Wipe Away This Shame Declaring a public holiday is not leadership. Leadership is prevention. Leadership is prioritizing life. Leadership is accountability. Had the state government taken these athletes seriously—as it does pilgrims or politicians—this may never have happened. Enough of the Lip Service—We Demand Accountability The youth are not expendable. The glory they sought to bring to Kano has now turned into grief. The government must do more than issue condolences—it must answer, act, and prevent. This is not just a tragedy for Kano. This is a tragedy for Nigeria. |
....Says Legislative-Executive Synergy, Key to National Stability ....Akpabio is a Pillar of Legislative Maturity and National Unity- Adodo As thousands of young Nigerians gathered in Abuja for the Nigeria Youth Walk for Democracy and Renewed Hope to mark this year’s Democracy Day, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, for his stabilizing leadership and strategic collaboration with the executive arm in advancing the nation’s democratic governance. In a spirited address delivered by NYCN President, Comrade Solomon Adodo, the council celebrated Senator Akpabio as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s institutional harmony, whose legislative stewardship continues to uphold and safeguard the core tenets of democracy. “The peace and continuity we enjoy in our democratic process today is largely attributed to a functional and cooperative National Assembly. Under Senator Akpabio’s leadership, the Senate has worked with maturity, dialogue, and foresight, providing the enabling environment for the Renewed Hope Agenda to thrive.” Adodo said. Held in Abuja on Thursday, with participants marching from Unity Fountain to Eagle Square, the walk attracted thousands of youth leaders, civil society groups, student unions, and government officials. While paying homage to the heroes of June 12, the event also spotlighted modern champions of democracy, with Senator Akpabio singled out for his role in ensuring institutional balance and effective policy implementation through legislative action. The Council, praised the Senate’s collaborative posture, noting that it has enabled the swift passage of youth-centered reforms, economic development legislation, and critical national security bills, all instrumental in addressing Nigeria’s complex challenges. “Akpabio’s leadership in the Senate has been pivotal in reducing friction between the branches of government, creating a more stable political environment where national policies are aligned and executed seamlessly." Comrade Adodo, also emphasized that the success of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is closely tied to the National Assembly’s support in passing responsive and timely legislation. Under Senator Akpabio, the Senate has maintained a steady focus on national interest, transparency, and progressive engagement. “Democracy is a collective enterprise. It demands cooperation, sacrifice, and vision. Senator Akpabio has modeled these values, ensuring that the National Assembly remains a true partner in governance and a pillar of democratic stability.” He added.

...Uncover Forgery, Fraud and Failed Coup Attempt The months-long leadership crisis rocking the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has taken a dramatic turn, as Nigeria Police investigations have cleared National President Pretty Okafor of all wrongdoing and exposed a complex plot involving forged court documents, unauthorized financial transactions, and attempts to hijack the union's assets. At a world press conference held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the PMAN National Secretariat in Lekki, Lagos, Pretty Okafor presented a Certified True Copy of the Police Investigation Report, which emphatically vindicates his leadership and uncovers the motives behind the failed internal coup. According to the report, there is no evidence supporting allegations of constitutional breaches, forgery, or financial impropriety leveled against Okafor. The complaints, which culminated in his illegal suspension while he was on official assignment in Spain, were found to be in gross violation of PMAN’s constitution, particularly Articles 13(C)(iv) and 18(B). Furthermore, the Police determined that proper disciplinary procedures—such as NEC deliberation and Disciplinary Committee hearings—were never followed. Among the most damning revelations was the exposure of a forged Post No Debit (PND) order allegedly procured to freeze Pretty Okafor’s personal bank accounts. The police linked this fraudulent order to Inspector Caleb Samuel of the IGP Monitoring Unit and a court clerk in Minna, Niger State. The clerk has been dismissed and referred for criminal prosecution, while the inspector is under investigation by the Police Provost Marshal. In addition, the Police discredited a fraudulent consent judgment (Suit No. NICN/LA/360/2024), filed without PMAN's knowledge or participation. The judgment was orchestrated to lend legitimacy to the plotters and manipulate the legal system from outside Lagos jurisdiction. The press conference also revealed that individuals involved in the failed coup—including Boniface Itodo, Faga Bem-Paul, Sunny Neji, Zaaky Azzay, and Michael “Ruggedman” Stephen—illegally broke into and occupied the PMAN National Secretariat on March 1 and 3, 2025. Their actions prompted police intervention and subsequent arrests. Following this, the National Executive Council (NEC) convened on March 16, 2025, in Abuja and removed all offending members from office. Acting officials were appointed in accordance with PMAN’s constitutional provisions. In a startling disclosure, Okafor revealed that the entire crisis was rooted in efforts to take control of PMAN’s growing assets. Under his administration, PMAN had achieved several historic milestones: * Acquisition of a fully owned National Secretariat * Launch of PMAN FM with cutting-edge broadcast equipment * Flag-off of the PMAN Abuja Monaco Project, a multi-million-naira property venture In 2024, Olusco Heritage & Investment Ltd, headed by Mr. Olufemi Olumeyan, was contracted to manage the Monaco Project. Investigations have now revealed: * Unauthorized collection of over ₦350 million from subscribers * Failure to meet project obligations * Suspicion of illicit financial transactions under forensic scrutiny The NEC has now resolved to safeguard these investments through an Asset Management Company, ensuring that PMAN’s properties and funds remain protected from further exploitation. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment on May 5, 2025, officially reaffirmed Pretty Okafor’s position as National President, with the association's headquarters recognized at the Lekki Secretariat. The letter recognizes the valid National Delegates Conference held on October 24, 2023, at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, where Okafor and other executives were elected unopposed. Okafor disclosed that he has initiated legal action to stay and overturn the fraudulent judgment in Suit Nos. NICN/LA/26/2025 and NICN/LA/48/2025, pledging to pursue civil and criminal sanctions against all conspirators. “This isn’t just about PMAN—it’s about defending due process, integrity, and the rights of all Nigerian musicians,” Okafor told reporters. “We will not only rebuild, but we will also pursue justice—without compromise.”

..... Applauds NELFund Rollout, Youth Confab, and Tax Reform Implementation As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks two years in office, Emmanuel Ayantayo, former President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the University of Abuja, has commended the administration for what he described as a bold, youth-centered, and reform-driven leadership style that is delivering measurable progress. In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Ayantayo highlighted several key achievements under President Tinubu’s watch, including the full activation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), a program now providing accessible loans to indigent students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He described the recent announcement of a ₦45,000 monthly stipend for technical students as a visionary policy that places value on skills acquisition and vocational education, both critical to national productivity and employment generation. “The ₦45,000 monthly stipend is not just an incentive. It is a deliberate investment in Nigeria’s technical future. President Tinubu’s administration is showing it understands the link between youth empowerment and national development,” Ayantayo said. The former student leader also praised the successful hosting of the National Youth Conference, noting that it created a strategic forum for young Nigerians to engage with policymakers, share innovative ideas, and chart a course for their future in the country. Additionally, Ayantayo commended the administration’s implementation of critical tax reform bills, which he said are key to rebuilding the nation’s economic structure, enhancing transparency, and boosting non-oil revenue. “These reforms show that President Tinubu is focused on long-term solutions, not quick fixes. His administration has taken some difficult but necessary steps to reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth,” he noted. Ayantayo concluded by urging Nigerian youths to remain engaged, innovative, and supportive of the nation-building agenda, while also encouraging the President to deepen youth inclusion in governance and economic planning. “President Tinubu’s two years in office have laid a strong foundation. It is now our collective responsibility, especially as young Nigerians, to build upon it and ensure Nigeria’s future is one we can all be proud of,” he said.

In a powerful demonstration of compassion and community service, the IBD Dende Foundation marked this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration with a two-day humanitarian outreach tagged “Ileya of Hope: Eid Beyond Sacrifice” at the Chief's palace in Durumi, Abuja. Held from June 5th to 6th, 2025, the initiative aimed to share food, health, and love with those in need, in the true spirit of the season. The event, powered by the IBD Dende Foundation under the leadership of its founder, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, brought smiles to the faces of the beneficiaries. This year’s program, themed “Eid Beyond Sacrifice”, went beyond the rituals of the Sallah celebration by offering tangible support through a combination of humanitarian relief and free medical services. Hundreds of beneficiaries were treated to a grand Sallah feast, where items were shared in a festive atmosphere filled with gratitude and joy. In addition to the feast, the foundation distributed special IBD-branded gift packs and food items to families, ensuring that no one was left out of the celebration. The outreach also included a comprehensive range of free medical services such as blood pressure and sugar level checks, minor treatments, first aid, malaria testing, medication, and health education sessions focused on hygiene and wellness. Volunteers and health professionals from the Support and Help Outpatient Foundation SHOF, worked tirelessly throughout the two days, embodying the foundation’s mission of “Touching Lives, Spreading Hope.” A Representative from the IBD Dende Foundation, Dr. David Owah emphasized that the goal was not just to feed and treat people physically, but to uplift them emotionally and spiritually during a time that should be joyous for all. “Eid is not just about sacrifice, it is about sharing. Our aim is to bring hope to these communities who have lost so much, and to remind them that they are not forgotten,” David Owah stated. A beneficiary, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, visibly moved by the support, said, “This is more than just food and medicine. It shows that someone cares. It gives us hope.” The presence and leadership of Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun continue to inspire similar acts of kindness across Nigeria, as his foundation remains committed to reaching out to the needy, especially during times of national festivity. The “Ileya of Hope” outreach stands as a shining example of how faith-based philanthropy can play a critical role in fostering inclusion, dignity, and well-being in underserved communities. Meanwhile, as the nation celebrates Eid, the IBD Dende Foundation’s intervention serves as a reminder that true sacrifice lies in giving wholeheartedly to those who can offer nothing in return. |
Says Seed Tracker boosts traceability, adopted in three African countries Bt cowpea, global alliances key to Nigeria’s seed market expansion- DG The National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC) has reaffirmed its commitment to driving innovation in Nigeria’s seed industry through the use of digital technology. Speaking during a refresher training session for seed companies, licensed seed inspectors, and lead outgrowers, Director General of NASC, Fatuhu Muhammad, highlighted the strategic role of the Seed Tracker platform in strengthening the inspection and certification of crop seeds nationwide. According to Muhammad, the platform has already gained regional traction, having been exported to Tanzania, Uganda, and Sierra Leone. He revealed that many more countries have expressed interest in adopting the technology, which has become a benchmark for seed system transparency in Africa. “Over 52 seed companies have input data on the Seed Tracker on crops such as cassava, cowpea, yam, potato, rice, and maize,” he noted. “The platform, developed to enhance transparency and traceability in seed certification, is modernising Nigeria’s agriculture.” As part of its strategy to improve efficiency and reduce operational bottlenecks, NASC plans to expand the use of private inspectors, reducing the workload on its officers while ensuring wider coverage and quality assurance. Muhammad also announced ongoing strategic partnerships with international bodies, including the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV), the OECD Seed Schemes, and others. These collaborations, he said, are aimed at unlocking access to global seed markets. He emphasized Nigeria’s potential to dominate Africa’s seed market, citing the case of cowpea, a major dietary protein source. Despite its importance, the cowpea seed system has been hindered by poor storability and pest infestation. However, recent adoption of Bt cowpea, a genetically modified variety with pest resistance, is already yielding positive results. Muhammad commended the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in the United States for supporting Nigeria’s biotechnology ecosystem through the ENCIBBS project, which has bolstered the country’s capacity in biotech research and development. Participants at the training expressed satisfaction with the knowledge gained. Hassan Yohanna Lassa, Managing Director of Boom Seeds Nigeria Ltd, praised the Seed Tracker as a transformative tool in combating seed adulteration and improving production quality across Nigeria. “It helps track the source and purity of seeds, promoting transparency throughout the seed value chain. We are now committed to ensuring our farmers and products are fully integrated into the platform,” he stated. Another participant, Chukwuemeka Umeh, described the training as a major step toward modernising Nigeria’s agricultural system. “We now have the skills to detect early symptoms of seed-borne diseases and implement control measures, thanks to the digital tools and capacity-building provided,” he said. With such initiatives, NASC is positioning Nigeria to not only achieve food security but also to become a leading hub in Africa’s evolving seed industry.

• Threatens protests, EFCC petition as calls for reform in Nigeria’s real estate sector intensify The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG), a coalition of over 17 civil society organizations, has issued a stern seven-day ultimatum to Pwan Real Estate Company over an unresolved property transaction involving a Nigerian citizen, Mr. Tochukwu Ariwodo. The group is demanding that the company either furnish full legal ownership documents for the plot of land purchased by Mr. Ariwodo or refund ₦13 million, the current market value of the property. Addressing journalists at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, themed “Addressing Real Estate Irregularities, Unchecked Practices; A Clarion Call for Reform, Accountability and Justice,” the group’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Austin Peacemaker Inaede, decried what he described as "systemic exploitation and unchecked impunity" within Nigeria’s real estate sector. According to the group, Mr. Ariwodo paid ₦4,430 million in 2022 for a 600-square-meter plot at Pwan Prestige Estate, Lagos. Despite numerous follow-ups, he has not received critical legal documents such as a Deed of Assignment, Survey Plan, or Certificate of Occupancy, requirements for formal property ownership under Nigerian law. Instead, he was only issued a payment receipt, letter of allocation, and a contract of sale, all of which the group insists are legally insufficient. “Our investigation shows that this is not an isolated case. Many Nigerians have fallen victim to similar practices by the same company. This raises the alarm about a deeply troubling pattern of abuse,” Comr. Inaede stated. CSGGG vowed to escalate its campaign should the company fail to comply within seven days. Planned actions include a nationwide protest, official petitions to the EFCC and the Nigeria Police Force, and engagement with international human rights bodies. The organization also used the platform to call on the EFCC to launch a formal investigation into Pwan’s operations, urged the Ministry of Works and Housing to strengthen oversight on estate developers, and asked the Nigerian Bar Association to provide legal assistance to victims of real estate fraud. “This is a clarion call for accountability and justice. Property ownership is not a privilege, it is a right. And we will not rest until that right is protected for all Nigerians,” the group concluded. The group also invited other affected individuals to come forward with their stories, promising collective legal and civil action to bring errant developers to justice. |
• Two Years of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Mark a Turning Point for the Niger Delta • 5,000 Beneficiaries Empowered as Stakeholder Confidence Returns under Otuaro’s Leadership As Nigeria celebrates the second anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) stands out as a flagship success, reinvigorated under the purposeful leadership of Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro. Appointed as Administrator in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Dr. Otuaro has brought focus, vision, and integrity to a programme once plagued by uncertainty. Previously seen as directionless and losing stakeholder trust, the Amnesty Programme has now returned to its core mandate of Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR). Since taking office, Dr. Otuaro has led a transformation marked by transparency, youth empowerment, and inclusive engagement with ex-agitators and local communities. Among his key achievements is the sponsorship of over 5,000 students across universities and skills acquisition centres. Hundreds more are undergoing specialized training in the blue economy, including marine logistics, aquaculture, and coastal enterprise, aligning the programme with global economic trends and regional potential. In addition to educational and vocational empowerment, Dr. Otuaro has championed peacebuilding and reconciliation, reaching out to traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society actors to rebuild trust and dialogue in volatile areas of the Niger Delta. One of the most praised reforms has been the reintroduction of strict transparency and accountability frameworks, ensuring that funds are appropriately audited and disbursed to genuine beneficiaries. This renewed credibility has repositioned the Amnesty Programme as a model of public sector performance under the Tinubu administration. Stakeholders across the Niger Delta say the changes reflect the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda. “Dr. Otuaro is restoring not just the programme, but our hope in government,” said a community elder in Delta State. “For the first time in a long while, we are witnessing real results.” The transformation of the PAP is now widely recognized as one of the clearest indicators of President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance, regional equity, and peacebuilding. Observers believe that with sustained support, the programme could serve as a blueprint for national integration efforts across other restive regions. In recognition of these achievements, the Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group, which has been monitoring public sector reforms in the region, commended both the Presidency and the Amnesty Office. “We are proud to celebrate the results of effective leadership. What we see today is a Renewed Hope in action-driven by commitment, community engagement, and accountability,” the group stated. As Nigeria looks ahead, the success of the Presidential Amnesty Programme under Dr. Otuaro is a powerful reminder that when leadership is anchored in integrity and service, national transformation becomes inevitable.

By Joe Ngbede Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has once again waded into stormy political waters with a decision that is sparking fierce criticism and raising fresh questions about his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC). For his second-year anniversary in office, Alia has reportedly hired Labaran Maku—an aggrieved figure within the opposition and a known coalition stakeholder aligned against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT)—to lead media consultancy efforts. The move is seen by many as a calculated provocation, deepening speculation about Alia’s partisan direction, internal party discipline, and long-term political alignment, particularly as national APC structures rally around President Tinubu’s agenda. Critics argue that the optics of appointing a known opposition figure for such a high-profile assignment not only betray the party’s collective stance but also expose growing internal fractures within the APC leadership in Benue. In what some have described as a political misstep bordering on going berserk, Governor Alia's selection of Maku—a controversial figure who symbolically represents opposition to the current federal leadership—has left both party faithful and observers questioning his strategic clarity. Labaran Maku, a former Minister of Information under the Jonathan administration and a long-standing PDP figure, is not only politically misaligned with the APC but is also believed to be nurturing ties with the ADC—a party Governor Alia has repeatedly been linked to in ongoing speculations about a 2027 switch. For many within the APC fold, this appointment is not merely inappropriate; it’s provocative. "This isn't just about hiring a consultant," said a senior APC stakeholder who requested anonymity. "This is about sending a message. And the message Governor Alia is sending is one of disregard, not just for party structures, but for party values.” The timing of the move, just as tensions escalate over Alia’s strained relationship with APC stakeholders and amid calls from within the party’s national league for his expulsion, only deepens suspicion over his long-term political intentions. The decision has also triggered widespread dismay among Benue’s media professionals. Several practitioners and communication strategists in the state view Alia’s selection of Maku as a vote of no confidence in local capacity. “There are dozens of competent, apolitical media professionals within Benue who are capable of designing and executing a world-class anniversary communication strategy,” said a veteran journalist based in Makurdi. “Bringing in Maku not only undermines our professional community but also fuels speculation about deeper partisan calculations.” More pointedly, the governor’s move appears to sideline his existing media team. The likes of Tersoo Kula, his Chief Press Secretary, and Solomon Iorpev, his Special Adviser on Media and ICT, are now seen by some observers as having been publicly undermined by the outsourcing of such a critical milestone to an outsider. That perception is rapidly breeding internal tensions and public embarrassment for an administration already navigating growing political scrutiny. Critics have also raised ethical red flags regarding the use of public funds to contract a politically affiliated media figure. At a time when public confidence in governance is fragile and scrutiny of government spending is intensifying, the optics of awarding such a strategic assignment to a potential opponent—or at the very least, a non-aligned actor—may carry reputational risks that outweigh the short-term communication gains. “Even if Maku has the technical competence, the question remains: is this appointment in the public interest or party interest?” queried a media rights advocate in Abuja. “You don’t appoint a referee with a club jersey under his coat.” For critics of Governor Alia within the APC—particularly those aligned with the party’s disciplinary and reformist platforms—this latest development is not isolated. It follows what they describe as a pattern of disregard for APC structures, increasing alignment with non-APC figures, and persistent speculation about future defections. The League had earlier issued a public call for his expulsion, citing his absence at key party events, refusal to participate in reconciliation efforts, and consistent marginalization of party stakeholders. With this latest appointment, that call appears to have found fresh validation in the eyes of many. As the Governor prepares to mark his second year in office, he faces a critical question: can he continue to govern from within a party whose core structures and values he appears to be drifting away from? Or is this latest move another stepping stone toward a broader realignment? |

A civic group, Committed Advocates of Integrity Initiative (CADII), has hailed Dr. Akinwumi Adesina for what it described as “trailblazing, transparent, and transformational leadership” as he rounds off his ten-year tenure as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). In a press statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the Executive Director of CADII, Comrade Charles C. Agubor, said Adesina’s legacy stands tall as a model of integrity-driven leadership across the continent. “Dr. Adesina is a rare breed—a leader who fused vision with values. His impact at the AfDB was not just institutional, but continental,” Agubor stated. CADII highlighted Adesina’s flagship “High 5 Agenda” which prioritized Lighting Up and Powering Africa, Feeding Africa, Industrializing Africa, Integrating Africa, and Improving the Quality of Life for the people of Africa. “These were not mere slogans,” the statement said, “but transformative actions that reshaped lives, economies, and governance across Africa.” The group further praised Adesina’s earlier role as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, where he introduced the e-wallet system for fertilizer distribution, eliminated corruption in the sector, and led a shift from subsistence to agribusiness. “His reforms restored dignity to millions of farmers and repositioned agriculture as a viable engine of economic growth,” Agubor noted. CADII, known for promoting ethical leadership and accountability in governance, said Dr. Adesina’s record should serve as a blueprint for both present and future African leaders. “As integrity advocates, we celebrate a man who refused to compromise on values. He took bold decisions that made Africa believe in itself again,” the statement concluded. Dr. Adesina, a former recipient of the World Food Prize, bows out of the AfDB after a decade marked by development finance innovation, continental partnerships, and a passionate pursuit of Africa’s prosperity.

• Says Palace of Obuzor and LGA Chairman’s Actions Undermine Rule of Law and Due Process • Urges Governor Oborevwori and Stakeholders to Intervene to Prevent Breakdown of Law and Order in the Community Aggrieved youths of Ibusa Youth Council (IYC) has expressed grave concern and outrage over the recent installation of an interim youth leadership in the community, despite several courts injunctions stopping the illegal process. According to the youths, the controversial move was orchestrated by the Oshimili North Local Government Chairman in collaboration with the Palace of the Obuzor of Ibusa, without regard for the rule of law, due process, or community consensus. In a strongly-worded press statement signed by the Secretary General, Comrade Olimmah Vincent on Tuesday, the IYC condemned the action as a direct affront to justice and a clear case of contempt of court. The statement revealed that the interim leadership was selected during a secretive meeting held at the Palace of the Obuzor, attended by alleged non-indigenes, suspected cult elements, and political youth loyalists of the LGA Chairman. “It is deeply troubling that, in the face of an ongoing legal process, the LGA Chairman and some traditional actors proceeded to install an illegal interim youth body despite valid court injunction stopping the process. This is not only unlawful but a provocative act that threatens the peace and sanctity of our community,” the statement read. The youths also lamented the presence and endorsement of some respected town elders at the meeting, describing their participation as disappointing and contrary to the values of justice and equity they are expected to uphold especially when the process violate the long held custom and tradition of selecting the youth leadership. According to the aggrieved youths who were in their large numbers, this development could trigger unrest and community instability, especially among youth who feel their democratic rights are being undermined. They called on the state governor to call the local government chairman to order as he is planning to cause serious cult war in Ibusa with this action. The youths warned that they will not accept any blame for resistance or fallout resulting from this illegal imposition. “We want to make it clear: any attempt to blame the Igbuzo Youth Council for any subsequent response to this unlawful act will be met with robust legal and civic resistance. We will explore every lawful means to protect the integrity of our institution and the will of our people,” Comrade Vincent stated. The Council emphasized that the installation of an interim youth leadership without court clearance or electoral transparency constitutes a dangerous precedent that must not be allowed to stand. It insisted that the conduct of those involved, particularly the LGA Chairman and his collaborators, constitutes an abuse of office and betrayal of public trust. In light of the seriousness of the situation, the IYC also called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director General of the Department of State Service, civil society organizations, and traditional authorities across Nigeria to urgently wade into the crisis. “This is not a minor administrative matter; it is a looming security concern capable of instigating cult war that will spread to Asaba the Delta State capital. This level of recklessness and disregard for democratic norms must not be treated with kids' gloves,” the statement warned. The Igbuzo Youth Council reiterated its commitment to justice, peace, and democratic leadership, and urged all genuine stakeholders in the community to reject this unlawful interim government and work toward restoring legitimacy and transparency in the youth leadership process.

.... Says Niger Delta Is Rising Again Under Tinubu, Otuaro’s Leadership ....Presidential Amnesty Programme Now a Model for Peace and Youth Empowerment The Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his transformative leadership and strategic commitment to the Niger Delta region, stating that the President’s two years in office under the Renewed Hope Agenda have reignited development and restored confidence in the region's future. In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the group, speaking on behalf of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), praised the President for his bold and people-centered approach to governance, which has significantly advanced the peace and empowerment process in the oil-rich region. The group described the last two years as a “turning point” for the Niger Delta, with President Tinubu placing inclusive development, youth empowerment, and national unity at the forefront of his agenda. According to the statement, the revitalization of the Presidential Amnesty Programme has yielded visible results, including a sharp decline in youth restiveness and a surge in productivity across formerly volatile communities. They noted that under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, with the President’s unwavering support, the PAP has evolved beyond a demobilization initiative into a robust platform for long-term empowerment. Over 5,000 delegates have been mobilized for formal education, while thousands more are engaged in vocational training programmes, all geared toward sustainable livelihoods and lasting peace. “The Amnesty Programme today stands as a model for youth empowerment and peacebuilding, thanks to the vision of President Tinubu and the dedication of Dr. Dennis Otuaro,” the group stated. “This administration has shown that with strategic investment and political will, inclusive development is not just possible, but inevitable.” The Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group emphasized that peace in the region is closely tied to investment in human capital. They acknowledged infrastructure upgrades, skills acquisition projects, and renewed government attention as signs that the Niger Delta is no longer on the margins of national development. They described President Tinubu’s style as one driven by action, not rhetoric, and called on all stakeholders in the region to align with the President’s vision and support the progress being championed through the PAP. As the Renewed Hope Agenda enters its third year, the group expressed confidence that the Niger Delta will continue to emerge as a symbol of peace, opportunity, and relevance in Nigeria’s development narrative.

The Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) has called on the Federal Government to ensure the comprehensive training, proper equipping, and motivation of the 130,000 personnel being deployed under the newly established Forest Guard Corps for a special nationwide security operation. The CCC emphasized that the success of the corps in reclaiming ungoverned spaces and addressing Nigeria’s deepening insecurity will depend largely on its operational readiness. Mukhtar Ya’u Madobi, a Research Fellow at CCC, made the appeal on Arise Television on Monday while analyzing the resurgence of Boko Haram and ISWAP activities in Nigeria’s North-East, particularly in the BAY states—Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe. He described the formation of the Forest Guard Corps as a commendable initiative by the Federal Government to combat insecurity, especially in remote areas vulnerable to terrorist activities. However, he warned that without proper training and logistics, the initiative may fall short of expectations. “There is no doubt that reclaiming ungoverned spaces is crucial in combating terrorism and other crimes,” Madobi said. “But the Forest Guard Corps must be fully prepared to operate effectively in difficult terrains to make a real impact.” Madobi cited recent security reports indicating that more than 200 people were killed in at least 26 attacks across the BAY states between January and April 2025. The casualties included military and police officers, insurgents, fishermen, farmers, and civilians. He added that six military formations were also targeted during the period. He attributed the resurgence of attacks to several factors, including porous borders around the Lake Chad Basin and Sahel region, which provide unhindered movement for terrorists. He also noted that the redeployment of key military assets—such as fighter jets and attack helicopters—from the North-East to the North-West has weakened the counter-insurgency response in the region. To reverse the trend, Madobi urged the government to adopt a multi-pronged strategy that includes disrupting terrorist financial networks and investing in advanced military technologies. “Terrorist groups rely heavily on their financial networks to operate. We must disrupt these networks aggressively. Once their funding is cut, their capacity to carry out attacks will diminish,” he stressed. He warned that the Forest Guard Corps must not be allowed to fail at inception, especially as insurgents continue to evolve their tactics and regroup in forested enclaves. Madobi’s remarks come at a time of heightened concern over national security and underscore the importance of strategic planning and sustained political will in defeating terrorism and restoring peace across Nigeria. |

PRESS STATEMENT Monday, 26th May 2025 After a period of deep introspection and wide-ranging consultations with party members, political associates, respected leaders, stakeholders, and family, I wish to formally announce my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. This decision was not taken lightly. It follows persistent and unresolved internal crises within the Ogun State chapter of the PDP, which have regrettably undermined our collective aspirations for a more inclusive, democratic, and forward-looking party. Despite our genuine commitment to party-building and efforts to provide credible leadership, we have been met with deliberate obstruction, institutional disregard, and repeated acts of bad faith from both zonal and national leadership of the party. Rather than serve as a stabilizing force and neutral arbiter, the National Working Committee (NWC) chose to align with a particular faction of the party in Ogun State, effectively abandoning its constitutional responsibility to promote unity and fairness. This partisan posture culminated in the recognition of a parallel register during the 2024 Local Government and State Congresses, in clear violation of the PDP’s constitution and guidelines. Our group had complied with all procedural requirements during the registration exercise, submitting duly compiled and authenticated membership registers containing over 49,000 names. These registers were accepted and formed the basis for the Ward Congresses of 31st August 2024. However, the sudden substitution of our validated register with that of another group, and the imposition of unauthorized congress outcomes, rendered the process not only unjust but unsustainable. These infractions triggered parallel congresses across the 236 Wards, 20 Local Governments, and at the state level — leading to prolonged legal disputes now before the Court of Appeal. Yet again, during the recently concluded PDP South West Zonal Congress, the party leadership missed another opportunity for reconciliation by excluding our bloc from meaningful participation and ceding total control to one faction. The current turmoil within the national structure of the PDP, coupled with growing defections across the federation, raises valid concerns about the future and direction of the party. As a leader with a duty to my constituents, political family, and supporters, I cannot continue to associate with a party whose internal processes are defined by selective justice and institutional bias. Therefore, I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In the coming days, after due consultation and alignment, I will announce our next political direction. To the members of the Triple A Political Family, our loyal supporters across Ogun State and beyond, I express my profound gratitude for your unwavering support, courage, and faith in our shared vision for a more prosperous and equitable Ogun State and Nigeria. Yours in service, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir AKINLADE 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate, Ogun State 2023 Director-General, Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Ogun State 2019 Governorship Candidate, Ogun State 2015 Member, House of Representatives (8th Assembly)

Adekunle Abdulkabir AKINLADE 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate, Ogun State 2023 Director-General, Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Ogun State 2019 Governorship Candidate, Ogun State 2015 Member, House of Representatives (8th Assembly) |
..... Deepens rebellion against party hierarchy In a calculated alleged act of defiance, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has snubbed the All Progressives Congress (APC) endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. His absence has intensified internal party divisions and accelerated ongoing talks with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The endorsement ceremony, hosted by the APC National Working Committee at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, was intended to rally support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and present a unified party front. However, Alia's decision to boycott the event shocked party leadership and reinforced perceptions of his deepening rift with the party. According to sources, Alia had pushed for a joint endorsement that would recognize both Tinubu’s presidential ambition and his own re-election bid in Benue. When the party leadership rejected the proposal, he reportedly withdrew from further discussions and shifted his focus toward exploring an alternative political platform. Since assuming office, Governor Alia has been locked in a prolonged power struggle with influential APC figures in Benue, most notably Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The friction escalated when Alia attempted to remove Mr. Austin Agada, the APC State Chairman and an ally of Akume. That move was invalidated by the Federal High Court in Makurdi, which ruled on November 28, 2024, that Agada's removal was unlawful. Despite the ruling, Alia went ahead to establish a factional party structure, installing a parallel executive loyal to him and marginalizing dissenting voices. Political observers now believe that Alia's outreach to the ADC is part of a deliberate plan to exit the APC. Sources close to the matter revealed that former Governor Gabriel Suswam and senior ADC officials are actively involved in advanced negotiations to facilitate the governor’s defection. Adding to the intrigue, Alia is reported to have secretly financed Suswam’s failed campaign for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), further indicating his readiness to form strategic alliances across party lines. Analysts describe the governor as a political tactician who is prioritizing personal ambition over party loyalty. While his moves have consolidated support within a loyal faction, they have also alienated large sections of the APC both in Benue and at the national level. As preparations for the 2027 elections gain momentum, Governor Alia’s political gamble may either reposition him as a key power player or leave him politically isolated. What remains clear is that his actions are reshaping Benue’s political dynamics and sending ripples through the national party structure.

CSO Committee Writes JAMB, Demands Resignation of Registrar or Face Mass Protest The Civil Society Budget Implementation Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (CBIAMEC) has formally demanded the immediate resignation of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), citing widespread failures and alleged administrative lapses in the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In a letter dated 16th May 2025 and addressed to the Registrar, CBIAMEC referenced a petition from the Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative (IADI), led by Comrade Ofomhi Christopher, which raised serious concerns over what was described as gross incompetence and financial mismanagement within JAMB. The letter, signed by CBIAMEC Chairman, Ambassador Agbonkpoloir Splendour, stressed the urgent need to uphold transparency, accountability, and justice for the thousands of candidates affected by the alleged examination anomalies. The petition attributed the mass failure of candidates to administrative errors reportedly originating from JAMB, raising alarm over the credibility of the examination body and the potential long-term impact on the future of Nigerian youths. It also cautioned that repeated occurrences of such failures could erode public confidence in national institutions and damage the reputation of the current administration as the country approaches another election cycle. "The basis for this action is the widespread failure reported among candidates in the 2025 JAMB examination. These failures have been attributed to alleged administrative lapses within JAMB... Such a situation, if left unaddressed, could tarnish the reputation of the current government and potentially influence public perception during the upcoming elections," the committee stated. When contacted by our correspondent, the Chairman of CBIAMEC, Amb. Agbonkpolor Splendour, confirmed that civil society organizations and other concerned youth groups, would commence mass protests and civil actions in seven days should there be no response or visible action from the JAMB leadership. “We are giving the Registrar an opportunity to respond, but failure to act within seven days will lead to nationwide civil actions. The affected candidates and their families deserve answers and justice,” Splendour said. The committee reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting a sane environment, national integrity, and responsible leadership for the Nigerian youth, adding that only a transparent and accountable examination system can foster trust in educational processes. Meanwhile other stakeholders across education, civil society, others have also expressed serious concern over the same issue. More details to follow…..

…Urge Ojulari to Resist Pressure from Monopolistic Interests The Amalgamated Civil Society Organizations of Nigeria (ACN) vehemently condemn the ongoing smear campaigns targeting the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Malam Mele Kolo Kyari. These attacks stem from his principled resistance against monopolistic practices by powerful actors in the oil sector seeking to undermine Nigeria’s economic interests for personal gain. The ACN, a coalition of NGOs advocating for good governance reforms, economic justice, and anti-corruption measures across key sectors including energy, expressed its concern in a joint statement signed by Comrade Wale Adegoke, National Coordinator, and Comrade Musa Abdullahi, General Secretary. According to the group, Malam Kyari’s commitment to transparency and competition during his tenure reportedly clashed with entrenched monopolistic practices. The ACN criticized oil cabals and unnamed entities for allegedly sponsoring protests and misinformation campaigns aimed at destabilizing progress in Nigeria’s energy sector. The group urged the media and the Nigerian public to carefully scrutinize narratives targeting public servants who are committed to reform. “We reaffirm our commitment to supporting policies that promote transparency, competition, and economic equity,” said Comrade Adegoke. The group said the recent protests in Nigeria and abroad, allegedly funded by oil merchants, are designed to tarnish Kyari’s legacy and mount pressure on his successor, Mr. Ojulari, to succumb to the control of vested interests. Comrade Musa Abdullahi noted that all patriotic Nigerians must reject these malicious tactics including blackmail, misinformation, and character assassination, and stand firm against forces prioritizing self-enrichment over national progress. The ACN emphasized that Nigeria’s economy cannot thrive without a level playing field in the oil sector. The current campaigns against Kyari and former NNPCL management reflect a desperate bid to revive monopolistic control, stifle competition, and reverse gains in transparency and efficiency. Under Kyari’s leadership, the NNPCL achieved unprecedented milestones, including refinery revitalization, reduced fuel prices, and international recognition from OPEC, the IMF, and the World Bank. “These reforms align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Buhari administration’s legacy,” said Comrade Adegoke. “The progress achieved under Kyari’s leadership must not be eroded. We call for accountability and fairness to ensure Nigeria’s energy sector thrives.” The group warned that the threat of economic sabotage remains real. “For decades, Nigeria’s oil sector has been plagued by greed, incompetence, and lack of competition. The same actors now orchestrating protests in London and Abuja are responsible for sabotaging refineries, promoting fuel import dependency, and obstructing local productivity,” said Comrade Musa Abdullahi. “Kyari’s management broke this cycle, delivering functional refineries and operational stability, achievements these groups seek to erase.” The statement further emphasized that eternal vigilance is needed to safeguard Nigeria’s oil sector from bad-faith actors. Stakeholders must prioritize national interest over personal gain. The ACN strongly condemned the so-called protests, describing them as rented crowds deployed to intimidate Kyari’s successor and destabilize the sector. “We stand against tyranny and warn against tolerating these tactics,” said Comrade Adegoke. The group called on the government and the public to safeguard reforms protecting Nigeria’s refineries and economic sovereignty, investigate and prosecute individuals behind these smear campaigns, and support ethical leadership resisting pressure from monopolistic cartels. The ACN reaffirmed its commitment to defending Nigeria’s economic interests. Comrade Musa Abdullahi stressed that eternal vigilance is the price of preserving the gains made under Kyari’s tenure. “We stand with leaders who prioritize national progress over private profiteering,” he said. In conclusion, the group condemned the use of unsubstantiated allegations, character attacks, and foreign-sponsored protests targeting Kyari and his former management team. “We condemn these antics in their entirety and call on Nigerians to open their eyes to the truth for democracy and national progress to thrive,” said Comrade Adegoke.

Out of over 200 million Nigerian youths, the President, in his benevolence, found me worthy to serve. I don’t take this lightly.” Adodo said. He thanked President Tinubu for giving the youth a voice and platform, adding that the President cannot be everywhere, which is why he has appointed them as lieutenants to ensure that development reaches the grassroots and the people feel the impact of government. The meeting ended with renewed energy and resolve by the committee to work hand in hand with the NCDC in fulfilling its mandate for the benefit of the people, especially the underserved communities in the region.

...and Undermine Tinubu’s Reforms ...Alleges Coordinated Campaign to Reverse Oil Sector Progress ....Warns Economic Saboteurs to Desist or Face Exposure The Amalgamated Civil Societies of Nigeria (ACN) has accused powerful interest groups within the oil industry of orchestrating a smear campaign against Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari, the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), in what it describes as a desperate attempt to derail President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms. In a press statement jointly signed by its Convener, Comrade Wale Adegoke, and Secretary, Malam Musa Abdullahi, the coalition said it had uncovered a coordinated plot by faceless actors described as the “Dirty Oil Mafia.” These actors, according to the ACN, are sponsoring false media reports, protests, and unfounded allegations in a bid to discredit Kyari’s legacy and paint him as an obstacle to the Tinubu administration. “These elements, driven by greed and self-interest, are attempting to sow discord between the President and Mr. Kyari by spreading lies, staging protests, and publishing fabricated stories,” the group said. “Their goal is to erase the transformative achievements Kyari brought to the oil and gas sector and roll back the reforms that threatened their monopoly.” The ACN emphasized that Kyari’s tenure brought significant strides in transparency, accountability, and the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s oil infrastructure. It noted that some of the loudest critics today are individuals and entities who felt threatened by Kyari’s insistence on fair competition and rejection of underhanded deals. “They are angry that Kyari resisted the unethical acquisition of national assets at giveaway prices and refused to edge out companies like Oando PLC in favor of monopolistic interests,” the statement read. “These same actors, who previously mismanaged privatized national assets, now hide behind blackmail and fake narratives to cover their tracks.” The group dismissed recent rumors of Kyari’s arrest or investigation as fabricated by fifth columnists, insisting that he is not under any legal scrutiny and remains a free citizen. According to the ACN, these false reports are intended to mislead the public and destabilize the Tinubu-led government. “Kyari’s refusal to align with exploitative interests has made him a target,” the statement continued. “He deserves to retire in peace and be remembered for his patriotic service, not be vilified by those who put profit above national interest.” While expressing confidence in the new GMD of NNPCL, Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the coalition urged him to remain focused on reforms aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, cautioning against being swayed by those seeking to rewrite history to suit their agenda. The ACN warned the alleged cabal and their collaborators to cease their campaign of blackmail or risk public exposure. “Enough is enough. Nigeria belongs to a new generation that believes in transparency, competition, and merit, not monopoly and deceit,” the group declared. It concluded by calling on Nigerians, media houses, and relevant stakeholders to remain alert and avoid being used as tools in a dangerous plot to destabilize national progress and destroy the reputation of those who have served the country with integrity.
