Ondo state shoreline longer than Bayelsa? Hahahahah aribisala0: Niger Delta is part of the Yorubaland so your comparison is meaningless.
ualitatively The Shoreline of Yorubalan is the best for sea ports:Direct access to the sea with few mangroves and creeks. The Shoreline of Ondo state is the longest in the country and the best suited for Sea ports. |

Lol, its not heresay. If you know anyone who has worked with a shipping company in PH do well to ask him or her and if they're being sincere you'll get a similar answer with what I wrote earlier. shukuokukobambi: Stop hiding behind what she wrote. Write your own and put verifiable links that show this policy of strangulation!! Nothing in her post indicates that. It's hearsay which I've never heard before and needs verification.
To show how wicked your heart is, you accused sick yaradua who spent less than 2 years of promoting the marginalization yet you didn't mention Jonathan who spent 5 years with Diezani as transport minister for sometime. |

Im not telling you oil palm wasnt produced in the west then, I'm saying that oil palm from the SS made the bulk of the revenue and it is a known fact. I'll post the proof if I can find it. diadem10: Oil palm was also produced in the west, Ondo state to be precise. So you should be the one to get your fact right.
When we combine revenues from Cocoa, limestone, timber and palm oil, I see nothing comparable from what the east produce. Should I remind you it was Zik who clamoured for 1 nigeria even when the North and the west opposed them? Why did you think he did this? Because the then eastern part had little revenues. |

That's your own personal experience. And if you read my post you'd see where I talked about large vessels not being able to berth there. That is a widely known fact to anyone who works with a shipping company. So you can as well ask your CFI agent about that as well. honeychild: This guy. Forced by whom? In 2016 I had to import some books from China. My shipper had both options. Onne and Lagos. I spoke to CFI a clearing agent based in Port Harcourt. They assured me I could import to Onne.
I chose to import to Lagos because I figured that all these Igbo importers who import to Lagos must have a reason for doing that. I had no experience in importation and was not going to take the risk.
What I am trying to say is that I personally found no reason why Onne is not being used. |

He has nothing to counter, only tantrums to throw around. IgboSubmarine: Blue3k. I am still waiting for you to counter the answer released by Amberon11 concerning why Onne seaport is not import oriented like that of Lagos seaport.
At least, Amberon11 is awake to counter you.

Fallacy. I will advice you get your facts right. Before crude oil exploration the largest source of revenue was oil palm from the SS and there are facts that prove this. diadem10: What's this one saying? What if the British built Lagos seaport? Was it from oil produce or cocoa? Before the exploration of oil, Who was the largest source of NG revenues if not the SW for their Cocoa, Timber, Limestones and Palm.. Abi dis one dey mad ni..
Btw, Ondo has huge oil in abundance. In fact, it has the second largest oil reserves after Canada. You should worry about your landlocked red mud SE first! |
Politics › Re: Are Eastern Ports Dysfunctional? by Amberon11: 3:18am On Aug 10, 2017 |
You've said it all. Obi1kenobi: There's also something I'm not getting here. Some have said Lagos accounts for most of the imports because the transport companies with their large ships prefer Lagos. Considering the massive oil tankers that ply the Eastern ports to export crude, I see no reason why those same import liners can't import through those ports. I believe this must be a routing policy issue. The Eastern ports handling export traffic are probably not equipped to simultaneously handle huge import traffic. So the Lagos ports which handle comparatively little exports are prioritized in national maritime policy to handle the bulk of imports. |
Politics › Re: Are Eastern Ports Dysfunctional? by Amberon11: 3:11am On Aug 10, 2017 |
Exactly!!! Ereolamide: The shortcomings of those Ports include shallow draft, which will make it impossible for large vessels to berth.
It's not just about good roads and all, the eastern port can only berth small ships, and most shippers use big ships to import their merchandise. |
Politics › Re: Are Eastern Ports Dysfunctional? by Amberon11: 3:06am On Aug 10, 2017 |
Your dad was very correct. My sister has worked with two shipping companies. One in PH and she is currently working with a very big shipping company in Lagos. It is rather absurd that this op who seems to be very bereft of any knowledge concerning matters relating to freight forwarding is the one going about calling people daft. The fact of the matter is that the seaports in most countries DO NOT even have the Onne and Rivers Ports as destinations on their list. Meaning they do not recognize them and do not ship to those destinations. That is clearly why they are mostly used for onward crude oil related shipments. From what she said , they sometimes had no problems shipping from PH but receiving was a huge problem as they would have to come in through Lagos ports. Its the same way we have several so called "international airports" in Nigeria but Turkish or Qatar airways will never land in Port Harcourt. They will only bring you in through Lagos and transit you to PH using other airlines. Also, the Onne and Rivers Ports are shallow and won't allow for very large vessels. Only Lagos ports can accommodate such huge vessels. Do not listen to this deluded op, ask anyone into freight forwarding to know more. Obi1kenobi: I know absolutely nothing about the maritime sector, but my dad once told me (in one of his anti-government rants ) that the government pretty much sabotage the import capacity of other ports ensuring most goods are routed through Lagos ports. Then again, he was no authority on the issue either as he was an FIRS official. But think about it. Despite the massive problems in clearing goods at the Lagos ports, it still accounts for the bulk of import traffic. There must be underlying policy and structural problems that are responsible for this.
I would still wait for someone in the know to illuminate this issue. |

I understand you but you should know that that should not be the position of pastors and ministers. They should have tried to ascertain his source of wealth before accepting such gifts. I remember sometime ago when the Lords Chosen general overseer said that armed robbers, prostitutes, and whoever with ill gotten wealth should NOT give offerings at his church. People condemned him for that but he was very right. Such money is a curse, not a blessing. ameri9ja: Easier said than done. Ondo state has a seaport? talk more a deep one? Ereolamide: It was probably not meant to be a 'deep' sea port, you should know the shoddy way Nigeria government works, even those Lagos ports ain't deep enough, you want a real deep seaport, go to ondo. |
Politics › Re: Are Eastern Ports Dysfunctional? by Amberon11: 6:32pm On Aug 09, 2017 |
Your first two paragraphs are contradictory. You first stated that Nigerian Govt isnt to blame for the geological make up of the sites and later said said the bolded. So who built the seaports in those shallow areas, was it not the government? Ereolamide: Nigeria government is not responsible for the shallowness, the marine geoligical make up of those sites are, do want the goverment to dregde the sea?
that's why sea ports are better sited in respect of the depth of water unlike regular port
That's why deep sea port is usually made up for the usage of very large and heavily loaded ships. The depth of water helps get them access to the deepwater ports. |

Learn to be coherent. And the only dumb person here is you. How anyone expects a shallow seaport to be more functional and have more traffic than a deap seaport is the not just dumb, but daft and stupiid. [s] Blue3k: Lol defending you a dumb statement by doubling down not every port is a deep seaport. The fact it's not doesn't make it dysfunctional unless you think the only ports that should exist are deep seaports.
The thread was opened to see if anyone can disprove this. Nobody been able to so far. Only clown responses from guys like yourself sadly.
Ps: The eastern ports don't refer to regional governments. It refers to the location. This why eastern port headquarters oversees those ports. You would know this but daft responses are your specialty.
