Notice how the people crying, wailing and frothing like rabid dogs and losers over a innocent thread of kids having fun are from a particular region? I just can't understand the bitterness and envy honestly, almost as if they expect every fun experience in Nigeria to begin and end in their overrated Lagos.

Suspected herdsmen raid Benue communities, kill PPRO’s relatives

A total of seven people were said to have been killed, among them three cousins of the Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The onslaught was said to have happened at Tse Gamber in Sengev and Nagi, Mbachohon Council wards, all in the Gwer West local government area of Benue State.

Residents reported to our correspondent that communities were targeted by herdsmen in a swift and coordinated attack on Sunday.

A native who did not want to be mentioned said, “Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in Sengev Council ward, while three others were killed at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Council ward, located along Naka-Agagbe road.”

Several people were reportedly injured in the attacks on the communities.

Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, said, “That is my village; three of my cousins were killed, and that is the total number.”

Three Killed, Others Injured As Herdsmen Ambush Travelers On Benue-Nasarawa Road

Several armed herders attacked and killed at least three individuals while injuring several others along the Benue-Nasarawa road on Friday.

Saturday Telegraph gathered that the gun-wielding herdsmen staged an ambush, resulting in the deaths of three travellers and causing severe injuries to numerous others along the Makurdi-Lafia road near Ortese in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

This attack is coming barely a week after armed herders ambushed and killed three Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were fishing in the Gwer West LGA area of Benue State.

A local source revealed that the attackers set up an ambush on the Makurdi-Lafia road on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Their targets were innocent travellers near the Hirnyam, Pevkyaa, and Ortaver villages. Multiple individuals were left with grievous injuries.

Mr Christopher Waku, the Security Secretary of the Guma Local Government Area, verified the incident, confirming that the assailants had set up an ambush for two successive days near Ortese, along the Daudu/Ortese road on the Makurdi-Lafia Highway. During these assaults, they fatally shot three individuals, all of whom were local residents.

“It was not a roadblock; the armed herdsmen stood on the Daudu – Ortese road. They killed two persons on Thursday, at about 5 pm, and injured one person who is currently receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH).

person, bringing the total fatalities to three. Regrettably, all the victims were local residents,” Waku said.

Politics / Re: As An Obidient, I Wish Tinubu Successful Governance by AmehTsaev: 10:00am On Oct 28, 2023
mokwechineme:
Even though i still believe his emergence is highly questionable. I believe Peter Obi was deprived of the position. But at this point, there is nothing else to do since the highest court of the land has affirmed his(Tinubu's) mandate. All Nigerians need to do is to wish him well and pray for a successful administration.

If Tinubu really means well, he should start the process of restructuring this country baxk to confederation(regionalism). At his age, he should be seeking for legacy which others couldnt achieve.
Obasanjo started this process of restructuring in 2000 but ended up playing poliyics with it. Yaradua who i know would ve seen to its implementation died before the process could start. Only God knows whether his death was a natural phenomenon. Jonathan started and completed the national conference hinged on restructuring but played politics as usual to get a second term. Buhari had it in his manifestoes but never started the process and all these leaders aside Yaradua failed the country.

This is the time for someone to step up to the plate and do the seeming impossible. Tinubu has come a long way in the pursuit of this highest honour. He fought through it confronting biggest men of them all - Obasanjo, Buhari at a point when he felt the powers that be were using Emefiele, Lawan and various policies to stifle his emergence. He went through all these obstacles and here we are today

He has all it takes to defeat all the past leaders in his leadership by doing that they could not do simply because they lack the balls and courage to restructure a country that only needs restructuring to succeed...

What a load of undiluted garbage ans tripe; ans herein lies the problem of Nigerians, always ready to resign to fate and insha Allah for God to come down to help a nation that has never helped itself. On one hand you acknowledged that Thiefnubuu was voted into power through questionable means, and you think God will bless a nation with such disgusting foundation? even nature abhors such! go and look up how thousands of citizens in Mozambique are out on the streets protesting what they considered a glaring case of electoral malfeasance...small Mozambique o! even Liberia with a GDP barely a quarter of our own conducted a very disciplined and organized election...these are serious nations who are taking up the mantle of accountability.

Animasahun Salman examines the menace of banditry in the North and how it has left behind tales of woes often left behind by the criminals

“I was there when my father was killed by bandits and I will avenge his death,” were the words of Umar Mohammed, when reacting to the killing of his father by bandits in their Magami Village in Katsina State.

“My father was killed in my presence,” he said further, with a note of grief. “It is by the miracle of God that I’m alive today. I would have been killed. I was very close to our grinding machine at home. My father was trying to collect some vegetables when I heard the sound of the gunshot.”

Visibly hurt by the incident, he lamented further, “Yes, I know those who killed him. They said if they caught me, they would kill me, so I decided to run away, and my mum didn’t know where I ran to.”

In an interview that has since gone viral, Umar narrated how he ran to another community in the heat of the attack. He said when he reached Dandabi, he was with his brother and when he heard gunshots, he ran away, praying for God’s intervention.

Despite the fate that had befallen him, Umar’s dream of being educated remains intact. “I want to enroll in school to stop my mother from going into the forest,” he stated. “I want her to remain at home and even if she stops going to the forest, she has to look for what we will eat.”

Umar’s experience aptly captures several of such incidents in the country, especially in the northern region.
Many residents lamented that insecurity in the region had yet to abate despite the changes in the military and security apparatus. To date, women, children and even men are being killed, kidnapped, attacked and displaced by the bandits turned terrorists, while farmers have been chased from their farmland, stirring the possibility of poverty and hunger. And apart from the attacks, it has been argued that it is equally inhibiting the development of the country.

Not only the poor and middle income earners have been victims of the banditry, some political leaders, including state and national lawmakers, have also been unable to visit their constituencies.

A lawmaker at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Saidu Ibrahim, representing Sabon Birni South, a few months ago lamented in a telephone interview with The PUNCH that bandits were in control of his constituency and that he had been unable to visit.

“No district head or village head, not to talk of a ward head, can say anything against the bandits. This is the true picture of the situation,” he stated. “Even when there are issues to be settled, no formal setting can intervene because everyone is afraid of the bandits.
“In most of the villages under Isa and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas, I swear to you, they are all under bandits’ control. Bandits are in charge. They have occupied the whole place.”

A few weeks ago, suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed vehicles of security agents who were escorting motorists on the Gwoza–Limankara–Uvaha Road, killing a soldier on the spot. Also, a patrol van was set ablaze while five commercial vehicles were also burnt down with the passengers inside roasted, even as a dozen bodies were unaccounted for.

Sources revealed that the incident happened around 5 pm when the soldiers and civilian JTF members were providing cover to passengers travelling to Gwoza, Askira-Uba LGA in Borno State and some parts of Adamawa State.

A military source had disclosed further, “The GOC (General Officer Commanding) was at the scene of the attack. A soldier and many passengers were killed in the ambush, and five vehicles, including a military van, were burnt with the passengers inside. A few female passengers were abducted by the insurgents but were released in the evening.”

A miffed Senator Ali Ndume, representing the Borno South, who also confirmed the incident, said, “The spike in killings in the Gwoza area has become rampant in recent times. It happens on a daily basis. So, we are calling on the military to take the fight to the enclave of the insurgents because we all know where they are.

OfoIgbo:

I believe Obidients have removed their eyes from the judiciary which Tinubu has corrupted.

Obidients are now looking at the masses' court, which Tinubu has no influence over. When the masses start to march and shut down the country, that is when you will realise that the masses hold the power

All that marching drama won't be necessary, Nigeria is an irredeemable case and you will be setting yourselves up for ethnic baiting and witch-hunting when you march.. As the older Americans would say, "God don't like ugly"...APC will inevitably self-destruct the nation as we're already seeing through Emi lo kan's few months of economic disasters already, shebi inflation has been projected to hit 30% by December?

Don't waste your energy on that which is useless, sit back on the sidelines and watch the drama that will unfold. It's the Agbadorians that will organize the protest marches in a few months time grin

Gunmen have invaded Ora, Ayetoro community in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State and abducted some residents.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Monday when about nine gunmen, four of them wearing masks, stormed the area wielding AK-47 rifles.

The abductors were said to have also invaded the palace of the traditional ruler in the community, Oba C.O Odeyemi, destroyed his residence and also burgled the shop of his wife, Olori Odeyemi, carting away some items and cash.

Chairman of the local government, Mr Kayode Bayode, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.

According to him, the local vigilantes have been empowered and working with the police and other security agencies to rescue the victims.

“They only destroyed the palace of our traditional rulers and looted indomie, spaghetti and other items and cash from his wife’s shop because they were not around

“As we speak this night, our men are on the trail of the kidnapper in the rain falling right now.

“On my part I have provided three pump action rifles to the vigilantes and ensure a steady supply of bullets for them to be able to confront the kidnappers.

“I am very optimistic that they will be rescued before the end of tomorrow (Friday)”, he added.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi SP, also confirmed the incident, saying, “Security operatives working with vigilantes and local hunters, have been deployed to the bush for a possible rescue of the victims.”
