* 2019 Egypt 9 points, South Africa third in their group defeated them.

* 2019 Morocco 9 points, Benin third in their group defeated them.

* 2021 Nigeria 9 points, Tunisia third in their group defeated them.

* 2023 Senegal 9 points, Ivory Coast third in their group defeated them.

Now in 2025 Algeria and Nigeria finished with 9 points in their groups. Nigeria will face Mozambique, third in their group BUT Algeria will be facing Congo DR who did NOT finish third in their group.

We have the players. Just play them in their right positions. Even the James in midfield. Yes, he is trying so well, but play him at RB where we get his full capacity

Add the 3 players dealing with our boys staying far far upfield. Thats 5 players out of 11

The only thing left to deal with is the 6 opposition players attacking the box for the corner, which I think we could handle well with 7 players + GK presence in the box. (in this case, 6 players + GK because of the red card, which is still enough to deal with their 6 box players)

In one smart move, we managed to break their box overload, while outnumbering them defensively, and still set up well for the counter-attack if it presents itself!

If that's not smart coaching, I dont know what it is.

Happy to see that Maresca is learning on the job and from his past mistakes, and it's clear for all to see.

Still lots to learn, (like Santos coming on instead of Delap when we went one goal up) but the optics look good.
