The boos ringing around said it all, but big ups to Ngannou.

Man fought like his life depended on it.
I always knew he needed the KO, and though he didn't get it, he almost did...

Whatever the outcome, Ngannou has been grossly underrated, lol.

Fury is stunned, could have been knocked out a couple of times already.

Nobody anticipated this!!

On YouTube where I was watching it, one of our players missed the biggest chance of the match with their keeper running back from our box. The poor coverage didn't let me identify the culprit of that open net miss.

We had Vlahovic chance, we refused to pay to get him. We are not ready.

It was Enzo

I got this from a recipient of the SI scholarship.

When you're trying to relocate to another country as a black person, one question to ask is how racist the host country is towards us, black people.

We cannot say because we're tired of situations in our country and in our honest search for better life, we fall into the hands of people that hate us to the level of wanting to kill us.
That will be like jumping from frying pan to fire.
And racism was also one of the issues on my mind when I was considering which country I wanted to study in.

Now, there's one thing that Sweden did that endeared me to the country.
5 years ago, Sweden ran a campaign where anyone from any country of the world could call a number and speak with a random Swede.
Yeah, it was real.

The way it worked was, you call a special number (+467.... ), and you'd be immediately routed to speak with a random Swedish person, just any Swede in the country going about their day.
No other country has ever done that.

The campaign has closed now, but it demonstrated to me how open Sweden is towards people of other nationalities, no matter where they're from.
Another thing they did was quite remarkable.

At the height of the Syrian refugee crisis in 2015, Sweden received over 160,000 refugees from war-torn Middle East countries, looking for protection.

Alongside Germany, Sweden was one of the most preferred European destinations for refuge-seeking immigrants from Syria.

These were people from mostly Muslim backgrounds and Sweden opened its arms to them.

Swedish society is largely atheistic, most Swedes do not care about religion but there is freedom of religion.

Everyone is free to practice whatever religion they choose. There are churches here and there are mosques as well.

Oh. I also have some personal story to share about my experience with Swedish people.

When I was moving to Sweden in 2017, my university, Linköping University, arranged a personal free cab ride for me from the Linköping train station to the university campus
I got to the train station and the cab driver was already waiting for me with my name tag.
As I alighted from the train from Stockholm, an elderly tall Swedish man, seeing me struggle with my heavy luggages filled with local food supplies, helped me with one of the luggages to my waiting cab driver.
I mean I was far far away from home but these folks were treating me like I was royalty.
The man was a leader in the Swedish Church, gave me his card and we later met again after I settled down.

Even though he was an elder in the Swedish Church, not for once did we talk about religion.

That's how much respect these folks have for people's religious beliefs.

I got to the university, picked up my room keys, and my SI Scholarship debit card, and got another free ride in a Linköping University van with other new arrivals to my new accommodation.
I mean, my journey from Lagos, Nigeria to my accommodation in Ryd, Linköping, Sweden was already planned to a T, all thanks to the typical Swedish kindness.

Now, am I saying there's no racism in Sweden?

Of course not.

Racism exists in every country of the world.

However, the fact is, majority of humans are good beautiful people, and Swedish people are not an exception.

Why colder countries are Richer

Studies shows that as the average Celsius get lowers, there's a considerable amount of wealth this brings. Why is that?

Way back in time, the wealthiest part of the world used to be Africa, Why?
Because we had bountiful resources per square meter.
Evidence of this is observed in Egypt and other civilizations that came and ended. You see those pyramids, they're definitely the ones in the book of Exodus. Now that I think about it, it's amazing. The Egyptian you see today, ye shall see them No More. Now I get why the Egyptians were hated. They don suffer, it feels like jealously.

I'm already rambling....we used to be the wealthiest. We didn't have to look at the weather before we plant, we had various crops that grew better at different periods in a year, so we continued at that pace, we didn't have to be friends with neighbouring community, our blood just dey hot. Not majorly our fault, the sun made it boil, little things that should be ignore was exacerbated by the sun, and blood started to fall here and there. Due to the conflict, it was difficult for community to trade and develop. Inorder to do that, you need to seat together and reach agreement. How can you achieve that when your language is different. Get an interpreter, that was only recently, when the White men came. We carried on without coming together and kept progressing, at an incredibly slow pace.

Up North, away from wrath of the Sun, were People bleached from the Touch of ice, narrow pointed nose to reduce Frazil air from chilling their body, straight hair that grew longer without any curl and coil which ensured that they grew quickly enough to warm their head, neck and body, blue iris and pupil to let more light into their eyes in Cloudy days, Thin lips to ensure that very little body heat escapes to the Wintry weather; they've never been cooked like you and I.

They had to be friends with their neighbors, if not, they would starve in times of need. They had to make hay while the sun Shines, Without which, their neighbors will find their corpse the next Spring.
I have often pondered about the saying before my adolescent why should I make hay when the sun keeps shining all year round, that saying never applied to us. It was the mantra that Launched them into the 18th century industrial revolution. In the 18th century, what was Africa doing? We carried on because we knew the sun will rise another day.

Caucasian, that's the word for them. I prefer not to classify them by the colour of their skin. Sometime last year, I said no one should call me Black, if you want to classify me by colour, Non-White should be the term. This covers everyone that's not White.
These fellas knew that every year, they only had the luxury of the Sun for Only Three MONTHS a year. Some get it even lesser. They had to Plan. Big word right? Plan is missing in Nigeria, Prayer is not enough.
MLK who said he had a dream was a Pastor. Lemme not talk much here, a word is enough for the wise.

When you know that there's going to be a short time in a year when you can farm comfortably and your crop will do well. What do you do. You Plan. From these seasonal planning it went on to community and regional planning to National planning that ensured industrial and mechanised farming, food Processing and preservation, trade, welfare and development...

These three countries are outliers, they're hot and still wealthy.
Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE don't rely solely on resources, they benefit because they're strategically located to become trade centres and they've planned to attract FDI to their economy. Nigeria is strategically located to attract these but political instability is setting us back.

An interesting example is Australia, Australia is a continent on its own, show you how huge it is. The warm region is comparatively poorer than the cold part. This is the theory in effect here.

IAmChiggs.

You couldn't have said this better Chiggs.
Hope you're doing great?

In the Nigerian bookshops, there are alot. Especially in lagos and in some university's library.

For the recommendation, the first thing I'll say is that reading is not for Everyone. If you are motivated to read, I'll suggest to start from the autobiography of who you like to be.

Dont rush it, only read when you feel like. Pdf are readily available and I can easily skim through when I'm bored as I go through the day. Like in traffic, queues, lying down before I sleep.....instead of fuming in traffic, grab something you have passion about and read. Passion is important, it's really sad footballer dont write.
But at least we have some figure heads who have shaped the history of the world that we get fascinated about.

My church spoke about Benjamin Franklin and I still met the guy in Assassin Creed, Rogue, it's a Video game, I got hooked and ran to get his autobiography, I managed to read William wilberforce, Bill Clinton, I couldn't finish bill Clinton but one thing I picked up and can never was that he volunteered in election campaigns of American presidents when he was young and he got really inspired. I also read Novels by Arthur conan doyle, he wrote Sherlock Holmes, this man used some techniques of the character to solve three real life national cases, I read some books before they became movies like The Elf stone of Shanara which made a series, Shanara Chronicles, Fifty shades of grey, I found the scenes in the other room too extreme, books by Stephen king, the film isn't as scary as the book, sidney sheldon series, was close to reading Harry Potter but I went for the film first
, "Mockingbirds don't do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corn cribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." Also read wizard of oz, interview with the vampire, pride and prejudice.....

I might delay in replying some messages, I usually will wait when its convenient so I can reply in the best way possible.

Whao, thanks so much for the tips Chiggs.

Well I started this thread here in Ireland. I started just before my exams and had to work with a plan. I was so busy with work, school, and other issues.....
The plan is that I don't go through what I write. I just type whenever I remember this thread and if I have pictures to upload. if you observe, what I write is mostly unedited, lots of mistakes and all. Time here is very very valuable. My place of work was giving me three days off, and I just got very uncomfortable because I could be making money. Besides this isn't a stressful job to require that number of hours off.

I don't read as much as I do before I came here, I still have lots of autobiographies lying around, I managed to finish William Wilberforce just before I left Nigeria. I still have Johnny Depp and Micheal Jackson to consume. I would have finished both of them if I was still in Nigeria. The only thing I consume right now are just articles on twitter and some comedy videos on Instagram. The twitter is very important to keep up to date with the parastatals of government here as they update regularly, and my classic new paper. Yummy.

I'm glad that you guys think I'm improving as you're the mirror I've got. It feels better to know ones making progress.

Great work here, @Chiggsglover, I want to ask if one can get these autobiographies in bookshops here in Nigeria, or do you just download the PDFs online?

Also, I'd love you to give some recommendations on books that are good and interesting reads based on what you've read over time.

Thank you

Hi, please what's the time frame between the close of applications, and the essay writing. also from essay writing to CBT exams. I could remember last year, MTN scholars wrote same time with Chevron in Abuja.

Everything should be over by October, latest November.
I remembered last year, like you said the exam was written the same day Chevron wrote theirs.
Mails were sent in August for essay writing, those shortlisted wrote exams very Early October, and by November, the successful ones were awarded and paid.
