Car TalkRe: I Drove 254 Miles With 17 Litres On My Toyota Prius C 2016 by amliftedhigher(op): 11:35am On Aug 21, 2023
SpaceAngel:
The consumption is impressive but from the average speed looks like it's driven more inside town. It's even more than rated. How's the combined consumption for like more of highway speed.?
That's a highway trip. Warri to Asaba, drive inside Asaba and back to warri. Totalling 254 miles. I am driving between 70km to 100km
Car TalkI Drove 254 Miles With 17 Litres On My Toyota Prius C 2016 by amliftedhigher(op): 10:48pm On Aug 20, 2023
Just like someone suggested, I decided to fill up my gas tank after making 254 miles (408km) round trip. The total fuel bought today is 10200 17 litres @600. This simply means that 36 litres of fuel can take me to lagos and back to warri. My total average MPG is 60.2 mpg going and coming back to warri.
This 17 litres was due to reduce pump gauge from matrix filling station. If the pump, it should not take more than 12 or 14 litres

Only the op can tell us exactly how many litres he used for the journey, so that we can do the math and decide whether the mpg is worth the hybrid stress.
The rule to achieving a high mpg in hybrid especially prius is simple
Gauge your tires properly according to manufacturers spec
Don't be heavy on the accelerator
Glide through the wind
Move gently until you achieve your speed
Do not overload the car
Etc

So how dat ekuke OP take achieve that MPG?
That kind of MPG means he didn't use up to 5 litres for the whole journey.
Who is the ekuke?

Unlike fully electric cars, the battery in hybrid vehicles isn't the car's primary power source.. It just compliments the normal petrol engine to achieve better fuel economy...

The hybrid battery charges while braking under normal driving conditions

If the hybrid battery or something in the hybrid system gives way in the bush, the online forum members will come fix the vehicle yeah?..

For context Sir, please tell us how much a brand new OEM hybrid battery pack for your vehicle is in naira presently Sir.
My brother every car breaks down especially unreliable Mercedes and BMW cars but people still buy it. Our Toyota, Lexus, Honda etc breaks down on the road on daily basis. I have own several Lexus and Toyota cars. Presently my main car is a Super luxury Lexus LS 460L with Air suspension and Auto parking system. Out side the hybrid system in the prius any other things there are found in Toyota Yaris. I understand your concern on the battery but my LS 460L Engine on Nigerian naira should be upto 3m to 4m but 3 years plus is gone and it still drive like brand new. My brother, this hybrid is a test run for my EV which I should have gotten but change my mind. I am studying the hybrid for the EV. Remember when automatic gear came out Nigerians were scared to buy it but today it is no longer the story. When our greedy petroleum marketers sees low sales for a long time, they will review their prices downward

Hybrid, so, yes.
Note: You don't charge this car with electricity rather it charges using regenerative breaking and when the ICE kicks in

Not electric like a Tesla that charges via designated electric outlets..

I think the Prius hybrid battery charges via regenerative braking while driving.. I might be wrong though

That guy wey I ask for up whether na brand new OEM or toks battery dem call for am 150k never reply me till now grin....

Buying a fairly used hybrid battery is like buying a fairly used pant.... You have no idea what diseases you are inheriting from the previous owner... One can't tell what life expectancy to get from such.. Whether they were harvested from flooded cars or those with compromised charging systems which have significantly diminished the battery life, etc..

If course, Nigerian Hybrid battery dealers will tell you how they have tested and confirmed the integrity of every battery cell in the 2nd hand pack they are selling... Same shady-speak language of 2nd hand inverter battery sellers... It's all tested OK until it isn't anymore grin... You get what you pay for... To thy tent o Isreal grin

If I am in Nigeria and in pursuit of fuel economy, I will get a Civic, Yaris or Insight, or a brand new Hybrid.. Of course anyone who can afford a brand new hybrid in Nigeria of today is too rich to be particularly concerned with fuel economy..

Make I buy 2nd hand hybrid for naija make d moto come get problem for Akoko-Akure Express.. Then I am stuck between allowing Musbau finger the moto based on Insha Allah or tow the vehicle from that bush to maybe Ibadan or even Lagos where I might get a semblance of a sane hybrid mech... Nahh.. Thank you Sir.

I underhand say una dey follow the doings of one mecho for here wey dey get nice mpg with im Prius.. Una dey see im MPG and e dey sweet una grin.. What you guys fail to consider is that he is a mech, so he can fix his hybrids himself and knows where he can source his parts way cheaper.. Of if he is that kind of mech, he can even swap his car's dead parts with those from his customer's vehicles.. If d moto break down for even inside sambisa, im know how e go take manage the moto to a safer place where he can do the full fix... But una preek begin stand on top 50mpg wey una dey see, without considering all the terms and conditions... It's well.
Toyota prius is a very reliable and dependable car. I started studying the car since last year. I belong to Prius forum USA, Tesla forum, Chevrolet bolt and volt forum, Hyundai ioniq forum USA. I did this to have first hand experience from users and I got what I wanted. If the hybrid battery dies, I will change it. It is not a problem. I return from Asaba to warri this morning with same 36 litres fuel tank and I still have up to 100 miles to go with the remaining fuel.

Tell me about this ride - fuel economy and all. Maintenance and ease of getting parts.
Super reliable. Parts are now available in lagos both Tokunbo and brand new. Very luxurious. 380 HP. Super high speed. Very quiet. Mine is the long wheel base so the back seat is like a big ulphostry. It is a good ride that gives peace of mind. Almost 90 litres of fuel tank. Fuel efficient etc

Not as bad as you think. The battery is about 150k and a lot of technicians especially at Ladipo have deciphered the hybrid system. Just get a reliable battery dealer and let him recommend his installer.
My search for Prius led me to this post.
I have done extensive research on the vehicle and it's a good buy.
Prius have proven is worth since 1997. Even though I know that shit happens, the car is super reliable and efficient. Get it if you can and you will not regret it. My advice is please don't buy any hybrid cars in Nigerian car dealer shop. They buy the ones with 200k miles whose batteries are already dead. Buy from abroad low mileage ones.

A 2016 vehicle isn't new by any definition.. In case you don't know, it's already 9 years old, and thus far out of manufacturer warranty

If op is in Nigeria, the scarcity/high cost of the car's parts, and even more scarcity of competent hybrid mechanics of such model have cancelled out whatever fuel gains he might have.. I would rather stick with my Toyota V6/V8, do my pay-as-you-go fuelling, and avoid any battery monkey business down the line..

If op is in the 1st World, then he is all good and my concerns aren't all that applicable to his situation.
Wrong. 2016 is 7 years old not 9 please

I use the word warm not hot oh. 120 ferenheit is dangerous to batteries and hybrid battery inclusive but is still better than cold weather

just a tip. Hybrid battery should last more in Nigeria than US or Europe. This is because of our weather. Our weather is always warm on like USA were they experience extreme cold weather which is an enemy of batteries whether hybrid or none hybrid batteries

Is fine brother. Just this morning after getting to work one bar of the fuel gauge went out. Before I travelled to Aba I bought full tank Thursday 2 weeks ago and drove it to Friday last week without a bar going out and I use it to travel to Aba, it was at PH Rivers state that I lost one bar.

Good evening my wonderful people here. I just want to share my experience with my newly acquired TOYOTA PRIUS C 2016. I have been getting high Mpg exceeding what Toyota estimated for the car but my yesterday journey from Aba to Warri was a different experience. I drove 166 miles with a full tank of just 36 litres. It is surprising to see my full tank still intact upto this morning.
IF you have the money go get Toyota prius C or any Toyota prius and shame APC and their wicked fuel increase.
This car is super reliable and efficient.
Caveat: IF you are looking for a speed car please avoid this car. It is not a speed car. It is manufactured for a special purpose of fuel economy.

PoliticsRe: Portable Zazzu Is Correct. Peter Obi Is A Small Boy by amliftedhigher: 8:20pm On Mar 18, 2023
Philgafauto:
Peter Obi should never shave led this fight when he knew he could not be a strong leader for millions of sane Nigerians that died and stressed themselves for him.

Millions of Nigerians spent their personal money and got involved in this electoral process because of Peter Obi. I sensed danger from Peter Obi when the igbo elites and strong men did not support him. Nonetheless, the Nigerians stood by him. Even IPOB did not stand by him and even now that Peter Obi has been cheated, Ohaneze Ndigbo and IPOB have not said a word.

To rub insult on injury, Peter Obi keeps talking like Nigeria is America or any strong Democracy when he talks confidently about the judicial process and the judiciary as if he doesn’t know that Tinubu and APC have that area covered. Now Peter Obi has been disgraced by Tinubu and treated like a small boy. Peter Obi’s victory was taken from him and he keeps acting aim like he can get his mandate back by turning our pastors to fools who keep prophesying Tinubu will be stopped from being sworn in by the military. Which military will stop the inauguration of a rich man like Tinubu who bullied a whole Buhari?

Peter Obi raised the hopes of millions of Nigerians and denied Atiku and PDP of the opportunity of being elected President. The most infuriating behavior of Peter Obi is the way he acts calm as if he has some ace off his card or something. Because of Obi, the igbos in lagos are now being bullied and might face a more hostile lagos. Honestly, he should not have presented himself if he knew he could not get the support of other strong men to battle a principality like Tinubu.

In addition, millions of Christians are now battling with with doubt in God just because of this same man and he keeps going to different media organizations saying he believes in the process of a failed African country. The man really messed up and should have gotten the commitment of strong men before venturing into this struggle.

Tinubu really belittled him and used him as a ladder to the presidency because they knew he’s not a strong man. It’s very painful. Peter Obi ought to apologize to Nigerians for the damage he has done
to our mental health and overall health. Millions of people are now battling depression because one man made himself a messiah and is now shying away from speaking out after his victory has been stolen him like a child.

I must admit that Obi’s cause is not helped because he comes from the igbo tribe that still suffers the effect of the loss of Biafra war. Were Peter Obi Hausa or Yoruba, nobody will dare treat him like a baby in Nigeria. We saw what Yorubas did when MKO Abiola was robbed of his victory in 1993. I still remember how lagos shook in that year and how we fought the military to a standstill.

Conversely, now that Peter Obi has been cheated, neither IPOB nor the Niger Delta militants have raised a finger to help him. It’s really sad and disappointing. He should have made alliances with even his tribesmen to help him face the Nigerian state.

While commendable, his confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary is misplaced and infuriating. Millions of youths are still fooling themselves on Twitter that Peter Obi’s mandate will retrieved. This has a deleterious effect on the polity because it doesn’t allow the country to move on from the election. Since Peter Obi can’t fight, he should just call Tinubu and concede the election and save us the stress of hoping in a futile struggle.

As for the igbos, I will always repeat it, the greatest igbo leader of recent is still Nnamdi Kanu. He’s tough, charismatic, eloquent, bold and strong.

He’s an old man and nobody will follow him to vote again in 2027. By that time, most young and educated who have left Nigeria so what’s the need for all the stress again?

It’s well.
Left for me and my family, hunger will kill portable
