Why Hausa men are not romantic? Romance is a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love: It is that feeling that a person feels for their partner that keeps the relationship going smoothly. Here are 9 reasons that they're njot! 1. Environmental influence In the northern part of Nigeria, especially the Hausa tribe, most men have little or no regard for women. They see women as too cheap and vulnerable, thereby, treat them badly; contrary to the teachings of the two most practised religions. 2. Poverty It is evident that Northern Nigeria is the most poverty-stricken part of the country, but Hausas are the most affected. And Hausa men are the poorest. As the saying goes, “a hungry man is an angry man” and when one is angry, being romantic is the least on their mind. 3. Spouse's attitude Why Hausa men are unromantic owes to the behaviour and attitude of some Hausa women. Hausa women’s attitude towards their husbands can be unbearable; they are short in manners of approach, hardly assist their husbands financially, and are ungrateful. 4. Unromantic Female Partners A typical Hausa lady is very unromantic. This is because they are socially and educationally backwards. It is so unfortunate that some parents in the North still believe that education is just for men and women are restricted to their family homes. 5. Pride Pride is a common thing in men but that of the Hausas is way beyond your imaginations. Why Hausa men are not romantic stems from the pride in them and little regard for women (except for the very religious ones amongst them). 6. Marrying more than necessary Constant mediation can be very tiring as women can be aggressive and stubborn when upset. A man coming back from work only to meet his wives fighting themselves, can’t be a happy man and as such, shouldn’t be expected to be romantic. 7. Too Much Workload Too much responsibility could be another reason. As the breadwinner of a family, you not only take care of your immediate family, you also have your parents, siblings, some needy relatives, and some orphans left by your siblings to take care of. 8. Environmental influence again Typically, display of love is something usually restricted to homes, Note: restricted to homes. Public Displays of Affection (PDA) is prohibited by tradition. As a woman from the East or West dating a Hausa man and expecting PDA - sorry dear! 9. Their Parents’ Relationship A worth noting reason why Hausa men are not romantic is as a result of the kind of family they were brought up in. Every parent needs to know that how they relate with their partners and children in their home has a great impact on how their children will see ‘relationship’ or ‘family’ as. Most Hausa men see that as a taboo which isn’t. Now how do you expect someone from that kind of family to be romantic in that kind of way you want? Conclusion Why Hausa men are not romantic cannot be overemphasized. Some of these reasons like poverty and environmental influence are usually pre-determined and therefore, one has little or no say in them. Hi, this is Salisu from Varsity.ng, let's talk about a movie! ![]() I must confess that before I watched the new movie of one of Nigeria’s legendary producers, Kunle Afolayan on Netflix, I put a status up on WhatsApp that I was going to drop my review like I always do after watching any widely talked about movie. After making the status, I dashed to Netflix to binge on the expensive cake served fresh out of the oven. This cake could be judged to be expensive because of its standard of production and casting. This cake is none other than the newly released 2020 film sensation, Citation. However, after watching the movie, I couldn’t but make a comprehensive review of it for Varsity so as to reach a wider audience. Hence, this long review. I’m a fan of classic Nigerian movies. Seeing our indigenous movies having a field day in the black continent and international market gives hope and joy to me. Ritually, Kunle Afolayan has always been raising the standards of Nollywood film productions. This informed my decision to leave all the foreign movies lining up on my MX Player to see the Citation. In addition, Citation came with a break from the norm of regular Nigerian actors taking the lead role. The daughter of one of Nigerian billionaires made her debut outing with this classic movie. Temi Otedola, daughter of Femi Otedola, took a break from her fashion empire to make a classic appearance in the movie. The question hanging over my head on just how she got the lead role could only be answered by Kunle Afolayan himself who enlisted the cast. But for a fact, her appearance as the lead act gave the movie the boost and trends it’s receiving. Yoruba people would say, “Eni nla ninshe oun nla” (Big people do big things). The movie’s theme Being someone who loves thematic movies with strong messages, I say that with passion: the movie Citation left me grinning from ear to ear as I watched every scene. This is because the movie came in handy in a country that’s yet to get over the unraveling of a menace that has eaten deep into the fiber of our tertiary institutions. Kindly head over to my blog to read the rest on the review https://varsity.ng/citation-2020-movie-review-a-movie-every-nigerian-female-students-should-watch/

Since inception, knowledge about the constitutional duty of the police has been passed down and above all classes. One is made to understand that the police are responsible for upholding the law and order in the society, and including the protection of the people and their properties. This scope alone gives one some sense of comfort and protection, only as at then. That was the picture of the Nigerian police that was painted in citizens’ subconscious mind, and it was satisfactory and soothing. However, the reverse is the case in today’s reality. All the aforementioned are just written qualities and attributes associated with becoming a police as cited from textbooks and, of course, in their Creed of Operations. It would have been a little comfortable if they were at least mere faded strokes of what was painted, but considering every illicit, demeaning, derogatory, repulsive and nauseating thing the Nigerian police are involved in, leaves no one a choice but concludes that the police needs an holistic overhaul and external policing themselves. The need to put an end to police barbarism, brutality, extortions, and the extra-judicial killings led to the nationwide #EndSARS protest. The #ENDSARS protest was a clarion call spreading its tentacles of awareness and involvement across almost every major city in the country. It was a noble movement; one I count as a key event in Nigeria’s history. It kept the government and the entire Nigerian Police Force on their toes...
