One thing I really hate in this life is when people complain about a supposedly privilege which they know they have.

It just makes me see the person as being conceited.

People are bullied over all sorts of thing you can imagine. In Igbo land, we might derogatorily call a light skin lady "Ọ cha ka ọ maka" or "Ụtụ ọcha" or such names.

But the truth is that sometimes, such namecalling are done more out of envy than anything else you can imagine.

So for someone to be complaining bitterly that her light skin color is an albatross for her makes me to wonder maybe that person is actually an albino.

She was a child! An impressionable child . Did you think being called names by her teacher will make her feel envied or privileged. Never be dismissive of people's experiences no matter how it sounds to you, because only they know how they feel about their experiences.

I talked about being bullied as a teenager over my height and skinniness. It took being in my 20's to see that being tall wasn't the worst thing.

I suffered this one wella. When I was 14 or 15, I remember being pointed to by a group giggling Hausa boys. They repeatedly called me 'ereke' (Sugarcane) I wished the ground would open up and swallow me. An Aunt always talked about my tallness as though it was the worst thing ever. I hated being tall growing up because of the bullying I suffered. It's a different story now sha.
