Oborevwori greets Anambra Governor, Charles Soludo at 63

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has congratulated his Anambra counterpart, Professor Charles Soludo on his 63rd birth anniversary.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Friday, Oborevwori said that the sterling contributions of Soludo to the development of the banking industry in Nigeria is legendary and worthy of commendation.

He lauded the Aguata-born Economics Professor and former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria for his vision and promise of making Anambra a mega-industrialised economy.

He said: "It is to the credit of Governor Soludo that banks in Nigeria grew stronger and better positioned to compete favourably with their counterparts all over Africa and beyond.

"As Governor of Anambra State, you have provided impeccable leadership through the philosophy of One Anambra, One People, One Agenda, with the goal of building Anambra into a livable and prosperous smart megacity."

He expressed optimism of a greater cooperation between Delta and Anambra, saying that as neighbours, they had so much to share.

"On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta, I congratulate my brother Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR on his 63rd birth anniversary.

"I am quite confident that your election and assumption of office will pave way for you to provide an enduring leadership for the people of Anambra in appreciation for their massive support in your election.

I visited the site of the proposed Ekwulobia flyover today. The contractor is doing fine with the pace of work, but I further charged him to double up effort to ensure this project is delivered according to agreed timelines.

Construction of flyover at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area is gradually taking shape as the contractor has commenced piling at the site.

When ABS arrived the site, massive work was ongoing as men of the AG Vision, the firm handling the project were seen in their numbers doing various levels of work.

A lot of heavy duty equipment were seen on site with materials readily available for use.

It was also observed that clearing of the surface where the flyover would be sited has been completed which gave way to the first major work involved in construction of flyover which is piling.

Speaking to the ABS, the Site Engineer, Nawar Beep, said that they commenced work on 20th of June and having concluded the clearing, they are now moving into the piling of the ground where they will cast the beams and pillars of the bridge.

Engineer Beep appreciated the relationship between them and the host community who they said are very hospitable even as he thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for playing his part well towards the actualisation of the project which has eighteen months schedule.

On his part, the resident Engineer, Chike Izuegbu the consultant of the project said they are happy with the pace and quality of work done so far, noting that the contractor is moving very fast to complete the project.

He added that over eighty percent of workers at site are indegenes of the area, saying that the project was not just to give the area a face lift, but it also provided a lot of direct jobs for youths of the area.

The President General, Ekwulobia Town Union, Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu while appreciating Governor Soludo for the development he is bringing into their area, explained that the initial problems arising from the demolished properties has been settled as about ninety percent of those affected have been given competition.

Chief Ezechukwu pledged the support of every "Onye Ekwulobia" to ensure that the job is delivered on schedule, saying that the project when completed, will put an end to traffic jam being experienced on the road especially during festivities.
