SailorXY: That's cuz the market is insanely overpriced & Man Utd don't have such luxury terms to offer @ the moment with the debt still dangling around Glazers' neck. It will soon pass tho, as long as we can manage to stay relevant in European football
Sure the prices of players are a bit inflated at the moment, but I still think there's more to our failure in the transfer market than that. There's something wrong somewhere. This is the same market we bought Van Persie and Kagawa (two top players) from 12 months ago, without all these drama of rejected bids. It probably may have something to do with our new chief executive.

montelik: Finally smart moves. Grab De Rossi at a discount and then scout, identify and go in for the main targets next summer if Tom C and co haven't stepped up enough. Any player we try to buy now, we will have to pay an insane premium.

Unfortunately Roma won't be too eager after just losing Lamela. But they now have the resources to bring in replacements.
Roma rejected our big... Our bids are being rejected left, right, and Centre, I am starting to get really confused.

coogar: even jack wilshere went on loan.....
rafael is a special talent - we all knew he's a gem on his debut. janujaz & lingard have not shown that level of football artistry yet.
If you followed Januzaj in the reserve and pre-season you would know he is a gem.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 5:59pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: janujaz & lingard must go on loan to break into the first team squad. welbeck, cleverley and even fabio(after a CL final start) went on loan. you just don't push players from the academy into the first team. they need hands-on experience in a mid-table team to hone their skills.
Scholes, Giggs, Messi, Rafael etc (just to name a few) didn't go on loan to hone their skill... While the likes of Fabio, Macheda, I can name 20 more that went on loan, without achieving anything. If you have the skill set, you'll succeed regardless of loans. I see Januzaj as a player who is ready to make that step up to the first team.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 5:39pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: do you know who & who are going to be injured this season already? this is why you stock players otherwise everyone would just have 14-16 players in their squad and get on with it.

fletcher played 16 league games that season & scholes played in 24 league games. even chris eagles played in 4 games.
That's why I agreed with you about having a large squad. two good players per position with the support of younger players in case of Injuries would do., that way the coach would be able to give players like Januzaj and Lingard a chance to develop. Ozil isn't needed. Adding him to a squad that already boast the likes of Rooney, Kagawa fighting for the same position won't be a good idea.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m):
coogar: take your pick....

attack(rooney/solskjaer/tevez/saha/ronaldo)

midfield(giggs, hargreaves, scholes, fletcher, carrick, nani, anderson, ji sung park, gibson, oshea)
solskjaer retired very early that season, Saha was injured for the most part of the season. So in reality we had only 3 forwards. ( Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo)

Scholes was injured for most of the first half of the season. Fletcher didn't play much and he was unhappy, even wanted to move to Celtic. Oshea is defender. Gibson was still a teenager in the reserve team. So in reality we had 4 central midfielders(Scholes, Hargreaves, Anderson and, carrick)
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 4:48pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: if ozil can sit on the bench in madrid then he would sit on the bench here. one thing is sure though, he would play more games here than he would get to play in madrid.

moyes is not a fan of traditional wingers - he uses inverted ones like pienaar or miralas. there's a spot for ozil here. keeping players happy is a moot point. how did we keep them happy in 07/08 season?
We kept them happy by not having 3-4 world class players in a single position. That's why we were able to give all our players game time. And still some players like Fletcher and Pique still complained about their lack of game time and wanted to leave.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m):
I agree 4231 is the fashionable formation right now, but Teams still plays 442/4411 maybe not in the orthodox way, but they still do. Manchester United is not a diamond team (4231) although we use it too for some games , along with 451, but it is not our main formation.... . Bayern Munich is another team that played 442/4411 last season :Read here www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2319554/Gary-Neville-Germany-fashion-England-forget-football-identity.html

It is good to have a big squad of players. But how do you intend to keep all these world class players happy?. Ozil won't come to United to sit on the bench. It would be stupid to keep Kagawa(a player that was named the best player In German league and nominated for Balloon d'Or) on the bench to rot, likewise Rooney. These aren't young unknown players that are ready to bide their time on the bench. You either play them regularly or move them on.

-How many of those players do Chelsea and Man City actually play? Besides United isn't owned by a billionaire that can afford to buy players with gigantic wages only to keep them on the bench.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m):
I would categorize Ozil as a luxury signing. We can do without him. Our priority should be strengthening of the central midfield with proper central midfield players in the mould of Schweinsteiger, DE Rossi etc
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 3:02pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: please, forget giggs & janujaz this season.
janujaz should be sent on loan to sunderland or hull where he can hone his skills. how can he just walk into the first team without having a PL season under his belt somewhere - that's a big jump for him. moyes cannot really experiment this season, he is not ferguson!

we don't play 4-4-2, we play 4-2-3-1.
this is why rooney plays behind van persie and not beside him. in the big games against the top six sides, ozil and kagawa should be used to a devastating effect. against the minnows & the group stage of the CL, then welbeck, valencia, young, etc can fill the gap. we need 2 teams this campaign.
We play 442 or should I say 4411 with Rooney playing as a withdrawn striker. (not all the time, but quite a lot)

Even without Januzaj and Giggs, we still have Ashley Young who can also play behind the striker. He played there for Villa sometimes and has also played there for United a few times .

My take is that we need to sell one of our forwards to accommodate Ozil.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 2:49pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: moyes is a goat.....
buy fellaini, convert him to a javi martinez clone to win all aerial incursions with carrick cleaning up after him. just the way rio cleans up after vidic.

put rooney behind van persie and flank him with inverted playmakers like ozil & kagawa, just the way dortmund used kagawa & goetze effectively and we would challenge the best teams in europe.

https://www.footballuser.com/formations/2013/08/811313_Manchester_United.jpg
We will lack width if we put out a team like this. Our fullbacks will be exposed too.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 2:46pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: he lacks the defensive awareness and work rate? the same position that has been filled by giggs, rooney, rafael, etc? is ozil not an upgrade of those players in the central midfield?

then you ruined it by saying ozil cannot play on the wing? really? ozil can play anywhere across the front 3. ozil is basically a replica of kagawa but more durable, can be more utilised, etc
Yes Ozil can do a job on the left of a three man attack, but how often do United play a 433 formation?. We often play 442 and 451sh formations, which means if we had him, he will have to play as a No10 (his best position) behind VPersie, which is already stock btw with players like (Kagawa, Rooney and Januzaj) or be given a free role where he can come in from the right or left in a 451 or 4231 diamond, depending on his starting position . He cannot play a natural winger in our regular 442 formation. And I repeat, he cannot play as a central midfielder (sure he can do a job there, but that's about it).

What happens when Giggs plays as a central midfielder for us most of the time? We get bullied and overran In midfield. Would you really want that to continue by playing Ozil there?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 12:10pm On Aug 30, 2013
coogar: ozil is very dangerous from the left - he can be a great weapon to use when young falters. i want nani & zaha on the right. valencia is finished. moyes should move him along.

ozil can also play in a midfield 2 - he's an utility player
Man United do not need Ozil while they still have Kagawa and Ronney on their books.
Ozil is neither a winger nor a central midfielder, he can't play In a midfield 2, unless you want our midfield to get overrun by every tom, dick and Harry. he lacks the defensive awareness and work rate to succeed there. . . Besides, I'll prefer Moyes gives young Januzej(spelling) a chance to develop, he is one hell of a talent, similar to Ozil, with the right coaching he will be our next big thing.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 10:28am On Aug 30, 2013
Mr_TA: Hopefully we don't sell Kagawa. I want him to get more chances this year otherwise he'll leave this coming summer.
I'll be very happy if the reports of Nani signing a new deal are true.
Kagawa isn't going anywhere. I'm sure of that. The season only just begun, he will get his chance to prove himself.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 10:23am On Aug 30, 2013
chrisley024: According to TMW, Nani is signing a five-year contract at Old Trafford despite rumours of a pre-deadline bid by Juventus. The Portuguese star reportedly agreed fresh terms a fortnight ago.
Goodnews I must say if it happens.
This would be a really good news if it turns out to be true. At the moment, I consider Nani to be our best winger, a fresh start under Moyes could prove a masterstroke.

elampiro: Ander Herrera Worth High Price Tag for Manchester United

By Ryan Rudnansky on August 29, 2013

Next

EuroFootball/Getty Images

Manchester United have made a €30 million bid for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, according to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE and Tre Atkinson of Inside Spanish Football.

This would be a wise move by United.

The 24-year-old has already developed quite a reputation. He first began turning heads as part of the 2011 Spanish under-21 Championship-winning team alongside Thiago Alcantara. Since then, he has been a valuable member of Bilbao, drawing comparisons to Steven Gerrard due to his style of play and versatility.

In his last two seasons with Bilbao, Herrera has registered two goals and nine assists in La Liga play. Two seasons ago, he notched an assist in Bilbao's 3-2 victory over United at Old Trafford in Europa League play. He's known for his strong defense, level of focus and passing and dribbling ability.

According to Cadena COPE, via Atkinson, Bilbao won't part with Herrera unless his €36 million release clause is met. Considering that's a minor step up from the €30 million United are reportedly willing to pay, there's a legitimate chance that the reigning Premier League champions will acquire the talented young player.

Some may say Herrera is not worth upward of €30 million—and this is probably true—but at this point it doesn't really matter. United have a surplus of cash to throw out there as the transfer window closes. Why not use it to improve the club?

Herrera won't single-handedly solve United's problems in the middle of the pitch, but he will most certainly help. Ask Bilbao fans what he has meant to the club the past couple of seasons.

Moreover, Herrera is still rather young. He has room to grow, and a club with the history of United have the means to help him do so. He has the talent to eventually excel in the EPL. The more time he sees on the pitch in the Premier League, the more he will likely improve.

It's easy to scoff at the exorbitant amount United are reportedly offering for Herrera. That is, until you realize this is United we're talking about. A mere €30 million is chump change for a club of United's stature and wealth.

Okay thanks. But still, I haven't seen anything concerning this bid in any reputable sports website. Maybe we'll learn more a about it as they day progresses.

elampiro: United have made a bid of €30m for Athletic Bilbao's 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera . (via @desportescope)

.......

17th Sept. Man United Vs Bayern Leverkusen.
I'm not sure of this news, because I haven't seen it anywhere else. But if true, it'll be a welcomed addition, even though the price seem a little too much for a relatively unknown player.
Like I told a guy, it's been six years since we bought a proper midfielder. And it's about time we bought another. at this point I will take anyone as long as he can do a decent job in the midfield. We are really short in that department. As of now we only have Carrick, Cleverly and Anderson. Anderson is still as inconsistent and Injury prone as ever. So we basically have only two central midfield player which is too few for a big aspiring Champions League winning club like United.

In other news. Everton has rejected an improved £36m joint bid for Baines and Fellaini..

THE AMAKA: Of course! That's why i found it funny when people all of a sudden located their moral compass as if fornicators and adulterers haven't been bagging the money since, voted for by FEMALE voters who make up the majority of the voting populace in BBA. Reason i singled out Nigerians is that you would expect them to protect their own, but they'd do otherwise.
*continues rolling eyes in disgust*
Sure, ideally it would been expected.. But I think Beverly's case was worse in a way, because she already was threading on thin ice with a lot of Nigerian viewers. So Her advances towards Angelo was seen as an opportunity to throw her to the wolves. Which they did without hesitation.
