superstar1: BREAKING NEWS: Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports News that Manchester United’s deal for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera is off. United had been willing earlier today to meet Herrera’s release clause and representatives reportedly travelled to Spain to try and clinch a transfer, but they encountered unexpected problems and now it looks as though they will be unsuccessful.
I knew this would happen. I'm not even surprised

coogar: incompetent woodward....
we need a football director - spurs & city have now shown why we need one. this idiotic woodward went with the team for the preseason to asia when he's supposed to be in manchester looking for deals! he had to be brought back impromptu only for the w@nker to start flirting cesc fabregas & ronaldo.

woodward puts the u in useless!
Football director could be the way forward.. Woodward have proven to be clueless about his new role, I honestly think the club should replace him.

Three of our officials are said to be on the spot with a chequebook, and are ready to pay the buy-out clause(for Herrara) , but some administrative issues have been encountered. The three officials are currently discussing their next move over a relaxing pint. Lol

I hope so. But as it is now. I won't hold my breath if we don't sign anyone.

This is actually getting funny now.

chrisley024: Twitter feed are now reporting that United's representatives have left the LFP offices without paying the buy-out clause of Ander Herrera as there is more paperwork to be sorted out.
That's what I saw as well. This is getting ridiculous. One minute we are very close to signing him the next minute our reps are leaving without paying the buyout clause. Smh

On other news. Fellaini has handed in a transfer request.

coogar: hazard chose chelsea the moment chelsea won the CL, we weren't getting him and he's not even a striker. moura is overrated and pricey and falcao wouldn't move last season. he was busy räping chelsea this time last summer in the super cup!

we do have the money, moyes is just a baboon.
who won the premier league last season? what happened to the prize money? what about the contracts we tore last season? about 8 of our reserve players were released - we have only signed varela(£2m), yet we pocketed about £60m prize money for winning the league last season - i won't even talk about revenue from the gates & merchandise!
We were reportedly close to signing Hazard, heard his agent ridiculous demand of £6m was the reason we couldn't complete the deal. Yes he isn't a striker, but he is an attacker. The plan was to strengthen the attack.

Yes we have money, but I think you are forgetting about the dept we are in.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m):
afrodoc: yes.i think herrera is under rated.my only issue with him is the acclimatisation/physicality question and he does have some discipline issues PLUS he tackles A LOT and in these days of card happy referees thats not necessarily a good thing

but going forward he is more ambitious than sideweays cleverley and will be able to improve our transition game while carrick sits
I think that's what we are lacking. Someone with heart that can ruffle and instill fear into the opposition midfield like Keane used to do. He'll improve and ultimately learn to time his tackles better once he's settled in our team. Assuming he signs for us, of course.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 6:09pm On Sep 02, 2013
coogar: send him on loan.....he had a glorious chance against chelsea with all the time in the world to adjust himself & score, but he put the ball to row Q.

i disagree
he was supposed to move after 10/11 when he spat his dummy out of the pram when he got left out of the CL squad. however, we couldn't bring anyone in so fergie had to retain him as back up. he came on in some games where we had to rest players or when there were niggling injuries and he did his part!

if we didn't sign van persie, who else would have been available? there was no movement in the market - not at the ridiculous prices continental managers wanted to sell players anyway. the market was tighter than a nun's fanny this time last year for strikers - city couldn't land van persie and they found no replacement as back up plan! that was the situation last summer....

quality strikers were tied to their clubs.

i agree the pressing issues need to be addressed but this is mesut ozil. did chelsea not have pressing issues in their attack when they bullied tottenham for willian?

you can't let your rivals get a quality player when you have more resources than them. if ozil was going to PSG or milan, i wouldn't even care but to arsenal? arsenal of all clubs? fergie's statue can buy the emirates - we should be bullying those lots to get any player they are interested in.
Fergie swore we will never lose the title on goal difference again, and I genuinely feel he would've done everything to strengthen our attack to avoid that happening again. There was talk about us getting Falcao, Hazard and then Luca Moura.... . The bottom line is that we had no intention of keeping both Berbatov and Van Persie at the club.

We are not a club that signs players just because we don't want our rivals to have them. We just don't have the money like City and Chelsea to afford such luxuries .
I understand the need to go for exceptional talent like Ozil if they are available. But we didn't. Moyes probably feel he has a similar player in Kagawa and didn't see the need to have both Kagawa and Ozil In the same team.

Best bet are Fellaini and Herrera.

coogar: he wasn't - if van persie had walked to man city, united would never have let berbatov leave. fergie isn't that daft knowing rooney has glass metatarsals and welbeck can't sort his feet with the ball.
Berbatov was always going to move on. He wasn't an integral part of the team anymore, he barely even played the previous season. If we hadn't signed Van Persie we would've gone for other strikers.

We all know Ozil is a very good player, no doubt. But we have more pressing issues than getting an attacking midfielder. We need to strengthen the central midfield first, if there's still money to get Ozil, then by all means.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 5:05pm On Sep 02, 2013

From Jamie Jackson:
''Manchester United have agreed to pay the €36m
(£30.54m) buyout clause to Athletic Bilbao for Ander
Herrera , with the deal expected to be announced once
the fee is paid, according to sources in Spain.
If Herrera is bought then David Moyes will finally have a
major signing and in doing so will have paid only
marginally less than the club record £30.75m fee for
Dimitar Berbatov.
However the deal for Herrara is not yet confirmed, with
both United and Athletic unable to be contacted''

coogar: why buy herrerra for £36m when ozil is £42m?

#moyesout trending in the UK. united fans are pissed!
How would Ozil get game time when Kagawa as you say, a replica of Ozil is not even getting looked at, at all?. Like I have said before, Ozil would be a luxury signing for us. We have more pressing concern to attend to like the central midfield and probably wing. I would put signing De Rossi, and even Di Maria ahead of signing Ozil.

afrodoc: nice one.good talk
but our wingers are all off form or unfit and u know how much we depend on good wingplay plus we are not even creati ng any chances at all
You are right about our wingers and lack of bite in our attack. I don't think we have found our rhythm yet. It was the same against Chelsea, we played well but just couldn't create genuine chances. It should improve soon with guys like Nani coming back, and Kagawa, hopefully Moyes will start using him more. And even Zaha. These are players that can be very creative In the final third. Moyes just need to get them on form and we'll should be okay.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 3:49pm On Sep 01, 2013
Guys I know it's a bad result, and the performance wasn't up to scratch. But we shouldn't start panicking just yet. Our performance at Anfield the last couple years haven't been much better than this. Although we won there last season, but you and I would agree it was down to a little fortune. Even with 10 men, Liverpool still bossed us for a large part of that game last season.

This result won't define our season. Winning the league doesn't depend on us winning the big clubs(although it feels good to win them, for pride).

I'm sure Moyes knows we are lacking some quality in midfield, hopefully they can get one or two quality players In by tomorrow. No need to go overdrive with negativity. Still early doors.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 2:20pm On Sep 01, 2013

elampiro: Exactly the way you want to see it.

There are different analysis for the two chart. The creator of the chart sees the first one as a pure 4-3-3. Go and read from the source. The second was analysed as 4-2-1-3. Hagreaves was meant to stop Ashley Cole and Lampard in that one off formation of 2007/2008 UCL final.
Lol. You are the one seeing what you want to see. I posted the diagrams, not you. The article I got them from, labeled them as 442 and 451 respectively.

You can see that Rooney and Park are closer to the central midfielders than they are to Ronaldo. How you can call that a front 3 is beyond me.

The other one is not a pure 433 formation. Carrick would've played closer to the left if it were a pure 433.

We better just kill this argument, because it's clear you will never agree with me even though the evidence is staring at you in the face. Let's just forget about this and focus on our transfer activities and tomorrow's game.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 11:45am On Aug 31, 2013
elampiro: Your diagrams are 4-3-3 on the strait look, or partially 4-5-1 or 4-3-2-1 when you want to argue widely. These things are seen from different perspective as I said before.

United used three midfielders. One a holding midfielder(Carrick or Hagreaves or Fletcher on a few occasions), then a second box to box midfielder who sits parallel with the holding midfielder while defending (Fletcher or Scholes or Anderson or Hargreaves), and the third is the creative midfielder playing in front of the two (Scholes or Anderson or Hargreaves).

JS Park and Fletcher have got some of the creative roles too on few occasions. JS Park has also been use on the left or right of a three man attack on few occasions as we had in Rome against Roma.
NO, The formations are 442 and 451. Just because they are not rigid doesn't change what they are.

The first one is a flexible 442 with Hargreaves playing on the right side of the midfield. It's a tactical move to combat the threat of the opposition team, When we are playing big teams. Hence why he is a little withdrawn. Replace Hargreaves with Nani and you have an orthodox 442.

The Second one is straight up 451. Rooney and Park are basically playing as wingers with Ronaldo as the lone striker. When we attack, Rooney and Park joins in with Ronaldo, making it look like 433. But it doesn't change the fact that it is a 451 formation. It's just a lot more flexible.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AndrERush(m): 9:14am On Aug 31, 2013
elampiro: @Fabville, that is just one of the reports. There are a thousand out there supporting that was the dorminant formation in 2006/7.

The fact that United played a 4-3-3 in 2007/8 should not even be debated.
https://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m494/mecuryball/man-utd-chelsea-tactics-champions-leaguefinal-2008.jpg

https://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m494/mecuryball/man-utd-roma-tactics-2008.jpg

United haven't really been a plain 433 team even in 2007/2008. Our Formation is mostly 442ish or 451 looking like 433 when attacking with our attacking players interchanging.

The above diagram will give you a clear view of our formation. Although the personnel and player position do change from game to game.

Like in the 451 formation. Sometimes, Rooney will be in the position of Ronaldo and vice versa depending on the team we are playing, while Nani would replace Park in other games. Even Giggs replaces Ronaldo on the left sometimes and Ronaldo would be on the right wing.
