psychologyshuby: Hi guys , no one has been posting transcript these days. Hope all is well ?? Also what do you guys think about the university of new haven Some people got their visa approved in the past with the school. I don’t know if people are getting their visas approved with it in this present moment, but since it’s a SEVP approved school, people can still get their visa with it, provided you convince the VO on why he should issue you the visa. Again, it seem the school hardly give GA to newly admitted students, but they give them some kind scholarship not more than $8k+ dollars towards offsetting tuition. If you have applied already and gotten admission, you should know. Try your luck at the embassy with them, you just may be lucky. Congrats to all those that has gotten their visas approved, and goodluck to those that will still try. Come and enjoy America, but it’s not so easy as peeps back home think. Best of luck all! |

solastar2: How are you guys getting the Student Visa? They probably got their visas approved for the summer class before the pandemic, or they may have gotten it last Spring and deferred to start Fall 2020. |

Phenomenalopeye: I'd definitely try, but I think he'll be moved when he sees I've made a little contribution/ progress by registering for the SAT, that shows I'm serious to him, besides the SAT is more expensive compared to the passport, I've been a liability to my pastor since my secondary school years . He already knows that I need to present the passport as a form of identification on the day of exam.
Thanks ! Young man! Inasmuch as I like your zeal and passion to study in the US (if your intentions are genuine), I must say that that your pastor isn’t ready to help you in anyway. He know your family situation (finance wise), and he is asking you to make financial commitments (via SAT) before he help you with the passport money. Again you said your dad is just a roadside mechanic, does that imply that out of his mechanic job he cannot raise #50k to support his son’s dream of studying here in the USA and possibly becoming the next big thing (Elon Musk) in your words. I had wanted to help in my own way with this your SAT issue, but I have my reservations and feel your stories isn’t adding up. Again, at ur young age (16), you easily resort to cursing someone you do not know (perhaps someone that wanted to help). It says so much (bad) about your character. I hope you find the help you need. |

IrishCrown: Hello I want to confirmation on this. If I defer my admission, will my sevis ID on my 1-20 be the same as the former one? As I have paid the sevis fee based on the former sevis ID.
Please revert promptly. Thank you. Yes your sevis number remains the same provided it is the same school that gave you the sevis ID number. |

arcTY: Good morning house, please how months or years does it take for the sevis fee to expire if an F1 student is yet to leave his/her country? The sevis fee expires one year from the date you made the payment. |

Sanguine1: It is not that i really have a hidden agenda about going to the US, but we all know that schooling in the US is more beneficial than doing it online. In the US i Will be schooling and work and together with my stipends to support myself financially, forget about that i have sponsor remember am going to be the one sort myself out for about 80% of my expenses because I am a working class here with wife and kid too. So going to the US will make the studies very easy for me and i Will also be able to cater for my wife and kid out what I am earning from the part-time job I will be doing there now.
But schooling online here in Nigeria, all these benefits would be lost now. This is my plan oooo Kuku defer your admission to Spring if the US embassy in Nigeria do not open for you to get your visa. Taking the Fall classes online can work against you just like @Fairheart pointed out. The visa Officer interviewing you may ask why not stay back in Nigeria and finish the program since you have started it online. If you have a GA, ask your DGS if the GA can be transferred to Spring for you. Believe me, doing the online program from Nigeria will be very difficult for you ranging from timezone difference, the unreliable nature of Nigerian network providers with regards to data, you may not also be the type that catch up with online learning too (I just guessed). So my obvious advice is, defer to Spring and ask your DGS if your GA can be transferred to the Spring semester (if you have a GA). |

Chacha22: Mr “I too know” .. I expected your arrogance laced response so I am not surprised. Of course I will see what I want to see . That’s why it’s called difference of opinion . And yes I have marked attendance and I am happy Lol! My dear mark your attendance and be happy in it all. The truth of the matter is that some person’s here that got their F1 visa and come to the States here to study suddenly becomes arrogant with how they answer prospective students here. You guys can make your opinions without resorting to arrogance. That you are here in the States does not mean your life is better off than those back in Nigeria. Let’s learn to communicate without being rude or arrogant. Once again, my dear, mark your register and be happy. Don’t mind all these arrogant people jare. |

Gerrard59: Verbal reasoning can be forgiven because English is not the official language of most countries meanwhile math is a universal subject. Besides and hilarious enough, these Asian nations had higher verbal scores than African countries where English is the lingua franca. For instance, Japan had a higher score than Nigeria in verbal reasoning. That said, nothing stops predominantly black countries to improve in math. Have you not read any report that most Asians, especially Chinese people writing the GRE cheats? There are lots of Nigerians currently in school here in the US who though had average GRE scores, are top of their class in graduate school. Stop making it look like Africans cum Nigerians are deficient in intelligence than Whites or Asians. My 2 cents. |

iwriterng: Sadly, most responses on this issue are geared towards justifying intelligence based on GRE score; a four (4) hours exams that can be mastered; given enough time and resources. The admission committee understands this better than anyone else, and this is why they make you submit your transcript (4 or 5 years effort), they ask for a statement of purpose, which is meant to ascertain your intention, as well as recommendation letter from people you've worked with.
The sole purpose of a standardized test like GRE is to filter applicants out; what that means is that; all you need is the minimum in other for your application to be considered. Once you get past the filter, the score is USELESS. Nobody cares about it anymore, if the minimum requirement is 300, that's really all you need; getting 320 won't put you ahead of others with 300, especially if the GRE score is the only strong aspect of your application, because the committee would spend more time reviewing your transcript, SOP and recommendation letter, and in some cases, they would arrange an interview to make sure you're as good as you claim on paper.
All of that points to the fact that; GRE isn't a TRUE test of your intellectual capability. NO record agrees with the assumption that those who ace GRE do well in graduate school.
It's important to do your absolute best, and ace it, in fact, score 340 if possible, but if you don't fall in the 320 leagues, don't let anybody make you feel inadequate, by flashing some random statistics jargons. There are people with average score on full funding in great schools; what they lack in standardized test scores, they make up for it in other aspects that matter. Don’t mind the people arguing you. I believe the standardized test does not have much impact on one’s success in graduate school. Some people score low in the GRE and do better in graduate school than those with higher score in the GRE. Below is an excerpt from the university of Hawaii Manoa department of political science regarding the GRE.

Paragontek: Is email issued valid now? Yes it is. The DHS asked schools to send the I-20’s through email to admitted international students because of the covid-19 and problems that may be associated with receiving it through express mail because of flight restrictions. So yes, one can use the email copy to go for a visa interview. |
