Group C live standings and the permutations (Nigeria’s chances)

Matches Remaining: Every group has 10 matches total (home + away, 5 opponents).

Nigeria has played 6 games (MP = 6), That means Nigeria has 4 matches left.

Qualification Path for Nigeria (Out of our hands but we must do our part)

Currently:
•South Africa: 16 points (7 games)
•Benin: 11 points (7 games)
Nigeria: 10 points (7 games)
•Rwanda: 8 points (7 games)

How Nigeria can still qualify: Top spot only guarantees automatic qualification. Nigeria must aim to finish 1st in the group.

Points needed:
•Maximum Nigeria can still reach = 10 current + 9 possible = 19 points.
•South Africa already has 16 with 3 games left (max 25).
•Benin can reach 20.
•Rwanda can reach 17

Nigeria’s route: They must win most, if not all, of their remaining 3 matches. Crucially, they must beat direct rivals (South Africa, Benin, Rwanda) in the return legs. They also need South Africa and Benin to drop points in other fixtures.

Second place scenario: In CAF qualifiers, the best 4 runners-up across all groups go to playoffs. So if Nigeria finishes 2nd with a strong points tally (maybe 17–19 points), they could still advance via the playoff route. (Difficult)

Nigeria has 3 matches left. To qualify, they realistically need to win at least 3 (preferably all 4), especially against South Africa and Benin, and then hope South Africa drops enough points.
