The summary of the letter: I said I renewed my visa via drop box in 2015 but I didn't use it. I travelled to xx country instead. I'm xx months pregnant with my second baby and I've contacted the hospital / doctor that I used the first time so I have updated fees. I rounded up be saying I understand I need to show proof of all payments on the first delivery and evidence that I can pay for this one. Finally, I asked them if they're was anything else I needed to do. mimimum: |
Hello, In the spirit of giving back: I wrote to the Lagos embassy to notify them off my updated intention to give birth in the US (I had initially obtained the visa visa dropbox in August 2015 for a holiday. I did not go to the US but I went to another country for the holiday). Their response is below: Thank you for your inquiry. Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment. You should show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S. your detailed birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that you have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including your living expenses. We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel. If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews. nefertitiram: |
mrsmo:My hubby came to houston so we notarized at a UPS office near us. I paid the $165 fee in cash. |
mrsmo:Hi, I'm a silent reader who used NL info to get to the US (Houston) and have my baby. Baby is a month old and I'm leaving this weekend. Call the agency again and tell them you need to get a visa for your baby's trip to Nigeria and that their rule says "within four weeks of your departure date if you need to apply for a visa". Better still, just use the automated scheduling number. It has less drama and i used it. Check for it on-line. good luck. |
PrincessMum:Hi, Please can I have the number for Mr Tanko? I'll be needing a visa shortly. if you didn't use him, can you gimme info on how to get a Nigerian visa for baby? I'm currently in Houston. |
