Mayflowa:
Very good point you have. anyway, we shouldn't be too quick to judge Buhari. There are lot of stuffs competing for attention in Nigeria. When you hold a leadership position, you will realise how demanding it is nd unsatisfying people are.
We as citizen should step up. Our maintenance culture is bad. U need to see how white peeps take care of their stuffs. Again we need education.
More worthy of note is our shabby university education. I am a lecturer. I can tell you university system in our country has failed. The curriculum is obsolete. many of the lecturers do not know how to impact knowledge especially in the sciences. Many don't know the standard and code for machine design. They don't know why courses are taught or applied. It's shame.
I kinda know why. Because that is how they were taught too. How can the roof and EXTERNAL walls of the house be okay when the foundation and interior walls plus ceiling are in a terrible shape. What is the state of our - primary - vocational - secondary and - technical schoolsthat should produce the candidates for the polytechnics and universities. What EMPHASIS and focus are we giving these foundational schools that are necessary for a vibrant educational system overall. |

Mayflowa: This is really good. NO one wants to invest in a country without basic infrastructure. So China is looking to facelift this.
In the long run, we should learn how to build machines and technology. We don't wanna repatriate all our earnings back to china.
Chinese don't play with scholarship. As developed as they are, the number of students they send to US and Uk is overwhelming! Government keeps developing human resources and create an environment for them to return and work Conversely, Nigeria forgets his few sponsored scholar abroad. I remembered ptdf writing a letter of bond dissolution for him to get lost abroad The way to the bold part above is through education for ALL children focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).Unfortunately, Buhari and APC have zero or even NEGATIVE track record on that. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2066181_109315253423544626188034164921766947151069n_jpegacb37fe73c651f856a3f80eea0cac2b7MathsChic: Some days ago, I was at a secondary school in Surulere (across the bridge from the Island) in Lagos for a friend's event where he is educating secondary students about the perils of peer pressure. I honestly wasn't expecting what I saw as the state of this secondary school. It left me wondering if this was a school or a dump yard. Why in heaven's name are Nigerian leaders looking the other way while the young ones study in this sorry environment?
The attached pictures are what I saw. This is no secondary school. It's a hopeless shanty. I hope this gets to front page and attracts the necessary attention.

TheGoodJoe: The Minister for Budget and Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, told our reporter at the weekend that the government included the project in the 'amended budget' and passed it to the Standing Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
You can see that you are ignorantly submerged in your hatred for Hon. Amaechi to know that money meant for us was diverted.
Keep hating Amaechi and advertising your ignorance to facts. You guys are so blind that you are ready to defend Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin dump your project.
Further investigations by SaharaReporters however showed that the Standing Committees did receive an amended budget that included the project. You see how you are shooting yourself down? Did General Muhammadu Buhari submit his budget to ONLY the few committees he liked or did he submit to the entire NASS?You should remember this is not 1984 of his DICTATORSHIP oh. Why are you allowing your hatred for Saraki to affect your judgement of a straightforward SCAM by these useless APCshit people? Why www.nairaland.com/attachments/2026526_image_jpeg9f360c5ab7736510df54c882e9dbf188www.nairaland.com/attachments/2027367_buhsheep_jpeg77d17e1bca3def9e42a445aac08437fe |

The South South People (Not all of them), support and defend Sen. Ben Bruce.
Hiw will Sen. Ben Bruce learn if we encourage him to do his people bad. Which amended budget? The one submitted by General Muhammadu Buhari or the one submitted by his minister, the dog of ubima? Can/Should a minister submit the budget to the NASS anyhow? Is that the DISORDERLY chaos that you guys packaged and sold as change chain? AreaFada2: Have you seen verified copies of the budget that includes the railway and the final NASS one that doesn't include it?
Those of us old know one person with a record of cancelling rail stuff in the South: Buhari.
Ask Chief Lateef Jakande with happened to Lagos metroline and deposit paid by Lagos State after Buhari coup.
People easily believe anything bad they hear about Saraki. Because they are programmed to.
You think Ben Bruce, Akpabio and other SS & SE senators will just be looking as the rail is removed by Saraki? Indeed, he is the Canceller-in-Chief Only zombies will believe this latest story by the APC people, walahi. People wey get brains intact will know that it is their usual wayo. Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

Dollarization Of The APC Primaries: How Amaehi Vanquished Atiku #saibuhari
The blogosphere was inundated with reports of the excessive sharing of dollars at the All Progressives Congress which took place during the latter part of last week.
One APC supporter and Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Environment, BolaIlori had blown the scandal open after he saw the beginning stages of the dollarization in action.
He took to his Facebook page and scribbled, “Crazy things are happening here!!! Some of these cannot represent the change Nigeria is yearning for. Excessive dollarization by one of the aspirants to is to say the least obscene. I have been involved in political process for decades now, I have never witnessed this volume of raw dollarization of party primaries. I only read about this kind of things in PDP primaries. A question been asked by conscientious delegates is that whoever can be giving out between $2000 to $5000 to…delegates certainly does not represent the kind of change Nigerians want…those who contributed to the pauperization of Nigeria now revel in dollarization… majority of Ondo delegates are still standing with Buhari but have been reduced from 85% to 70% within 24 hours…the remaining has gone with dollars ooo.!!!!!”
One has to wonder how Buhari was able to win the primaries in this era of stomach infrastructure where dollars are like the Biblical manna that God sent down from heaven to nourish the Israelites as they made their way to the promised land.
Sources close to the APC with knowledge of the way the Primaries unfolded have revealed that it was Rivers State Governor, Amaechi who flew back to Rivers State and returned to Lagos on Thursday morning with enough dollars to make Benjamin Franklin blush.
It has been revealed that Atiku offered the delegates $5000 each, but Amaechi doubled it to $10000 a pop. Thus turning the tables in favour of General Buhari.
Since his adventure into the APC, Amaechi has gone out of his way to prove himself a party loyalist, always the first to shoki or azonto at the many events the APC holds, which he himself is usually the chief sponsor.
According to party insiders, Amaechi has overtaken Tinubu as the major financier of the party. One does not need to wonder why he is always at President Jonathan’s throat over misappropriated oil wells or other such business. Anything that diminishes from the State’s coffers will have a ripple effect on his funding budget for the APC.

ayindejimmy: In so doing, the committee observed that the Lagos-Kano rail rehabilitation project had been allocated the sum of N52 billion as against the sum of N60 billion, which the minister requested as counterpart funding while no allocation whatsoever was made for the Lagos-Calabar rail line,” the Senator further stated.
“Hence, the sum of N54 billion that was discovered by the Senate Committee on Land Transport to be floating in the budget of the Ministry of Transportation as presented by the executive was injected into augmenting the funds needed for counterpart funding of both projects (Lagos-Kano and Lagos-Calabar Rail modernisation), as at the time the committee defended its report before the Senate Committee on Appropriation,” he said.
He stated that the Lagos-Calabar rail modernisation project was therefore included in the Senate Committee on Land Transport’s recommendation to the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

Henrygreat212: WHY IT IS TOO EARLY TO BLAME BUHARI. LET US REASON TOGETHER Talking about 16 years of PDP Vs 9 months of APC. How PDP ruined Nigeria. 1. PDP met a bag of rice at less than N2500 in 1999 but left it at N11,000 in 2015 when they left power. 2. PDP met the Dollar at N20 when they came in 1999 but left it at N220 in 2015 when they were leaving. 3. PDP met petrol pump price at N11 when they came in 1999 but left it at N87 when they were leaving in 2015. 4. PDP met a bag of cement at less than N400 but left it at N2000 while they were leaving in 2015. 5. PDP met a tin of milk at N15 in 1999 but left it at N100 when they left in 2015. 6. PDP met only OPC in 1999 but left us with Niger Delta militancy, MASSOB, IPOB, BAKKASI and Boko Haram as at when they left in 2015. 7. PDP was ushered in with a free and fair election in 1999 by the military but they left us with ballot box snatching, rice sharing for campaigns, do-or- die politics, political assassinations, etc. 8. Hmmm even Life expectancy for Nigerians was 59 years when PDP came in 1999 but PDP left it at 42years... i think we have to stop blaming buhari's govt, if u want to be good citizen just pray for this govt.
