“One of the major killers of our economy apart from corruption is waste. Our scarce resources are being plundered away very carelessly and unnecessarily wasted. Let me give an instance, presently, there are more than 6 aircraft in the presidential fleet. What do you call that? Billions of naira is budgeted every year for the maintenance of these aircraft not to talk of operational cost and other expenses.
You may want to ask what a Nigerian President is doing with so many aircraft when a Prime Minister of Britain fly around using the same public aircraft like an ordinary Briton.
Go and check and compare with that of any developed country in the world, the office of the Nigerian President is a very expensive one inspite our high level of poverty, lack and joblessness. Despite all these, you still find a Nigerian Minister spending about N10billion to charter an aircraft for just one year. Now, for me, when we come into office, all these waste will be blocked and properly channelled into our economy. We intend for instance, to bring back our National carrier, the Nigerian airways. We shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the presidential fleet into the Nigerian airways and within a year increase the fleet into about 20.

All these is happening because of the friction between the legislature and the Executive if not, whats the big dea? This is a project that'll benefit Nigerians and we're arguing over trivial issues Please show us where you saw any fund allocated to it. Thanks. |

steroid: I currently work in an mnc. For some time now I have been thinking about starting my own business and I am considering going for a loan from the bank. But I am worried if it is the right thing to do.
I want to use the money to buy a truck which I will attach to a warehouse for better management. Initially I wanted to go for a van but the warehouse people advised me to go for a truck. Their reason being that the profit I'll make from a truck will be enough to cover expenses and challenges faced e.g police, lastma, vio, etc.
I intend paying back the loan from my salary and proceeds from the business.
Your candid advice and suggestions are highly welcomed Yes. Good to get a loan and do a repayment plan so part of your salary can go towards it when cash flow of the truck business is low and/or to finish repaying the bank more quickly. |

Borno State governor, Kassim Shettima, Tuesday, said there was every tendency that the female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, abducted by members of the Boko Haram sect, in April 2014, were being held in bunkers, inside Sambisa Forest.
To this end, he has asked the military, which is combing the forest not only to fish out members of the sect but to also liberate the over 200 girls to carry their assignment beyond surface earth.
Shettima, spoke in Abuja, while presenting a paper at a two-day post election conference on security and governance, organized by the Savanna Centre, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, established by former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

OrlandoOwoh: Don't you understand simple English? Ashafa said the Calabar-Lagos route wasn't included in the budget sent to the NASS, but later sent by Amaechi who also appeared in the joint committee on appropriation. Is common sense not supposed to to tell you that Amaechi appeared before Jibrin to defend the Calabar-Lagos route's allocation? Since when did individual ministers send budgets to only ONE chamber of the NASS? Is that the DISORDERLY way this federal administration under Buhari is meant to be run?Can you imagine if each and every minister sends ADDITIONAL budget to the either the Senate or the HoR anyhow? What chaos! Don't you think such behaviour can only happen in zombieland? www.nairaland.com/attachments/3444716_img20160215224419_jpeg3a9d404699eb823dbaa7a23a7e345c55 |

vascey: While we insult each other we fail to highlight the salient points.
The Honorable Minister while defending the budget to the committee of land transport presented a supplementary budget to them.
That is the point in contention.
Question: Is that the way to resend budget to NASS? Is it appropriate for Amaechi to send the updated copy of the budget to just the committee while excluding the other members of NASS? Isn't there a due process for this kind of correction or amendment. Was it followed? Is it reasonable to assert that since the committee on land transport had been provided with a fresh budget, therefore the entire members of NASS had been provided the details?
Simple accounting and finance knowledge would tell you that assuming Total T remains the same, once X is credited somewhere, same X must be debited somewhere else.
What did Gbenga Ashafa do when he was presented with a budget different from that presented to his colleagues?
The wailers are quick to say FG is confused while the zombies are quick to point fingers at SS/SE.
What a shame! This whole freaking drama is a shame. Excellent analysis. You however omitted the fact that NASS has two chambers: - the Senate - the House of RepresentativesAfter each chamber has considered the budget they are supposed to have a harmonisation meeting. Cheers. Meanwhile make I give you this Wailers form Free of Charge, FoC www.nairaland.com/attachments/3589606_fbimg1458848436888_jpeg0d51a6ed0a0d14cea0bf7a6d73ba0698 |

Olufonade: The rail project was not inthe original budget. But it was included in the amended version sent to NASS (after it had been sucessfully defended by Udoma Udo Udoma when the Executive were doing amendment to the first padded budget). Senator common sense should also have told us why the money meant for electricity transmission was diverted to buying tricycle, digging boreholes and building townhalls in constituencies. Must one also be a LIAR to support Buhari and his band of LIARS gathered in APC https://www.allnigerians.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Ben-Murray-Bruce_2.jpgBeeBeeOoh: North East: Senate Turns Down Budget Proposal For Information Ministry..
ABUJA—THE Senate, yesterday, refused to treat the budget proposal for the Federal Ministry of Information due to lack of provision for media propaganda in the North East.
The Senate Committee on Information, which took the decision during the ministry’s budget defence, insisted that the ministry must not only rework but also re-present its budget with provisions for effective media propaganda in the North East.
The committee on information, headed by Senator Enyinaya Abaribe, PDP, Abia South, directed that the ministry should bring a budget that will cater for the needs of its media agencies. Abaribe’s directive was sequel to the observation raised by a member of the committee and senator representing Bayelsa North, Ben Bruce, who had decried the non inclusion of budget for media operations in the North East, in the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency. Bruce, in his remark, had pointed out that during the Nigerian Civil War, the media was effectively used to propagate relevant information. He therefore appealed that the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, and Voice of Nigeria, VON, should go and add the required component.
He said: “It would have made more sense for the information budget of the Army to be given to the Ministry of Information to equip these stations to be used by the military as a source of communication.
“For instance, if there is going to be an air raid in a particular area, we can warn the citizens to stay off that particular area".
