DeepSight: Its not that I dont agree that we must work on our country to be better. But every country in the world has challenges. And if your criteria is that the country is poor, surely you must agree that an Ngozi Okonjo Iweala should be denied a visa to Europe after she has retired. And I pick her and Amina Mohammed as examples because they are diplomats too.
What will you say if you hear that either of them was denied a visa in future because it was felt they will run away?
Come on bro, its absurd.
If you keep up this line of thinking you will say its okay to deny even the best professionals/ captains of industry/ brightest students/ retired diplomats etc visas since they come from a poor country.
The logical conclusion of what you are saying is simply that no one from a poor country should be allowed to visit a rich country. That is your conclusion, which has absolutely nothing to do with all that I have written on this subject. If you know that it does, then please point out the exact words I wrote from which you drew your conclusion. |

DeepSight: Chief, if that guy doesnt have a criminal record and is not destitute, I fail to see the reason.
I dont know if you saw my first post on this thread. I said it has happened to me. I was working with a first class global multinational and had a business trip. All protocols sorted, all payments made, with guarantees from the company. For privacy, I dont wish to mention the name, but this is a top top global corporation. And the idiots refused me a visa saying they were not sure I will come back. Oho, so you look at a lawyer working as legal adviser in a multinational and imagine he will abandon his job to become an illegal immigrant on the streets avoiding the law? There was no possible justification for that nonsense, and of course we appealed it and it was reversed. But the sheer stupidity of saying that I may "run away" from my cushy privileged job to skulk around as an illegal immigrant was bewildering.
I also mentioned how they did this to a 70 year old ex diplomat who worked her whole life for a multilateral organization, a sophisticated old lady who needed a medical visa. The clowns said she will run away and not come back.
Please sir, all that is nothing but stupid condescension and it is even deliberately done to insult a people.
You need to think about what you are saying, it reflects very poorly on your self-respect (no offense) because if that is the case, you will defend it if someone like an Ngozi Okonjo Iweala or an Amina Mohammed is denied a visa in future on the grounds that they will run away to become illegal immigrants. How does that sound to you?
And that, my friend, is exactly what you are justifying. I have not defended or justified anything. I have only stated facts as I see it. Are we privileged, black elites not the stupid clowns who who think that because we are local champions of our wretched fellow citizens, the entire world must bow to us in the same manner that those who we have made poor in our country do? Did you see what happened to Dangote, compared to an ordinary French citizen for visas to African countries? Read and reflect on it, to make necessary changes in how you work for your country to be better. |

maasoap: What a senseless comment? Was he begging for visa instead of paying? The fact that Nigeria is "poorer" as a country than Austria doesn't mean every Nigerian citizen is poorer than every Austrian citizen now. It is a common sense thing not to generalise If he was not begging, then why is he wailing at the denial? Was he forced to ask for THEIR visa? One rich person in a group with six extreme poverty paupers is a group of seven extreme poverty paupers. Kiss the truth and thank me later. Dangote: I need 35 visas to travel within Africa but French investors don’t
“I still complained to President Kagame. I told him that as an investor, I have to now apply for 35 different visas on my passport, and I told Mr. President, I really don’t have the time to go and be dropping my passports in embassies to get a visa,” he said.
“But you see, the most annoying thing is that yes, if you are treating everybody the same, then I can understand.”
Using the French passport as an example, Dangote said Patrick Pouyanne, chairman of Total Energies, does not need 35 visas on his French passport to gain access to African countries.
“You don’t need 35 visas on your French passport. This means you have a freer movement than myself in Africa,” he said.

Bobloco: “While it is understandable that the institutions of traditional rulership is in the exclusive purview of the state government, although through the local government authorities, it must be established that traditional institutions constitute a component of our governance structure.
“And thus, traditional institutions must be protected from the arbitrariness of state governments that threaten their stability.
“When the structure of ascension of traditional rulers is unstable, it will become equally difficult to maintain peace and orderliness in communities.
“Although our constitution, in its current format, does not ascribe any recognition to traditional institutions, yet our experiences show clearly that they perform enormous roles in the economic life of their domains, as well as maintenance of peace and security in communities.
“I wish to remind that the traditional institutions formed the governance structures before the advent of the colonialists. And they governed well. Consequently, they are institutions we must protect and preserve and not destroy.
“It is, therefore, on this basis that I lean towards the advocacy that calls for constitutional reform that will not just recognize traditional institutions in our body of laws but also define the responsibilities of their offices.

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has reaffirmed his allegations against his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi, He insisted that the Obi, running-mate to PDP presidential candidate, demanded the sum of N7.5 billion from him for sponsoring his elections in 2013. Governor Obiano, who made this revelation at the inauguration of his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the classification became necessary because of the continuous call out by Mr Peter Obi.
Obiano said he believes in utilizing the available funds in public works, road and development of the state rather than settle godfather. The Anambra State Governor added that his refusal to pay the said amount was behind the several attacks by Mr Peter for being a disobedient son, but had no regret because of the massive improvement in the state since his administration took over.

SATANICALLY: In a 2018 interview, Peter Obi said he invested $20 million in International Breweries on behalf of Anambra state as a governor.
Obi’s claim was in response to questions on economic development, Anambra politics and his presidential ambition.
“… Anambra state is the single-highest shareholder in that facility. I invested in it, over $20 million,” Obi had said.
“It is worth almost $100 [million] today. That’s what government should do.”
TheCable had previously fact-checked some of the claims.
Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra, also debunked a recent statement ascribed to him regarding the investment.
International Breweries (IB) Plc is a subsidiary of the world’s largest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) — a multinational drink and brewing giant based in Leuven, Belgium.
In its 2021 audited financial statement, the company said it holds 43 percent economic interest in International Breweries Plc, a publicly listed company in Nigeria.
According to a report by The Nation, AB InBev merged its Nigerian operations under a single corporate entity in 2017. It had three indirect Nigerian subsidiaries — International Breweries Plc, Intafact Beverages Limited and Pabod Breweries Limited. SABMiller Nigeria Holdings BV — another subsidiary of AB InBev — was also a major stakeholder in Intafact and Pabod.
ANAMBRA’S INVESTMENT
In a statement made available to TheCable on Tuesday, Ifeatu Onejeme, Anambra’s commissioner of finance, confirmed that Peter Obi’s administration invested the sum of N1,955,535,247.00 (an equivalent of approximately $12,616,356.43 at the then average CBN exchange rate of N155.00/$1) in Intafact Beverages Limited, a green-field brewery set up in Onitsha by SABMiller Breweries of South Africa in 2012.
Onejeme added that the state government still holds 407,321,264 ordinary shares of International Breweries Plc in exchange for the Intafact Beverages Limited investment.
“Based on the NGX closing price of N5.50 as of 20/6/22, these shares were valued at N2,240,266,952 on that date,” the statement reads in part.
“Based on the Central Bank of Nigeria I&E exchange rate of N415.75/US$1.00 on same June 20, 2022, this investment was valued at an equivalent of approximately US$5,388,495.37 (and at N604/$1.00 parallel market rate, only US$3,709,051.24).”

Soludo said he would not submit to the bullying of Obi’s supporters, who recently descended on him for addressing issues in the state.
The governor made the comments in a lengthy write-up personally authored, with the title, “History Beckons, and I Will Not Be Silent (Part 1).”
Soludo said Obi was inadvertently making the pathway to victory much easier for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and at the same time, toying with the destiny of millions of Ndigbo.
But the chief spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Yunusa Tanko, accused Soludo of being sponsored by some unknown persons to weaken the base of the party in the South-east.
The former CBN governor had been under intense attack for close to a week for dismissing Obi’s investment in the state as amounting to nothing, during a television interview.
Soludo said in the write-up, “My attention has been drawn to some of the tirades on social media following my frank response during an interview on Channels TV regarding the ‘investments’ Mr. Peter Obi claimed to have made with Anambra State revenues.
“Sadly, several of the comments left the issue of the interview to probe or suggest motives, inferred from my response on ‘investment’ that I am opposed to Peter Obi’s ambition and, therefore, committed a ‘crime’ for which the punishment is internecine abuse and harassment, even to my family.
“Everyone knows that I don’t follow the winds or one to succumb to bullies, or shy away from a good fight especially, when weighty matters of principles and future of the people are involved.”
Soludo said he had urged Obi to return to his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to actualise his presidential bid. He added that he had always told the LP candidate to his face that he was not capable of winning the 2023 presidential election, especially, under LP, which had neither a councillor nor a local government chairman.

ElevationD: That’s correct!
Sleep with a married woman and get ready for the consequences that come with it. Her body remains a secret known to her husband only.
That probably would have affected his destiny. He probably would not have been where he got today. People sleep and snatch married women from their lazy/inattentive husband plus the children sef. Nothing dey happen. If there is any spiritual consequences to morality crimes, then why are we flocking to Europe and the Arabian Peninsular despite our lamentations of their slavery crimes |
