Shadomaan7: PDPs corruption runs deep and their failures have proven them to be a finished party, deserving of being behind bars. Why are you so clueless about what failure means? How difficult was life during PDP’s 16 years rule, compared to the 9 years of the Assembly of Past Crooks, APC led by Abacha’s right hand man in PTF who denied that Abacha stole in 2008, even though Obasanjo recovered billions of dollars in loot? Abacha’s bagman is a former APC governor and Tinubu minister. Abacha loot: UK backs US, opposes FG’s plan to pay Bagudu $110m 6th April 2020
The United Kingdom has joined the United States in resisting a plan by the Nigerian government to give Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, about $110m (N41.8bn) out of the $155m (N58.9bn) stolen by late dictator, Sani Abacha, Bloomberg reports.
The US, the UK and Nigeria are involved in a dispute over investment portfolios worth $155m traced to Abacha and held in trust for Bagudu and his family.
Nigeria is seeking the approval of a UK court for Nigeria to take ownership of the assets before returning 70 per cent of the proceeds to Bagudu under the terms of a 2018 deal.
Nigeria’s Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has denied ever entering a deal with Bagudu but court papers say otherwise.
The UK government’s National Crime Agency is now “opposing the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s application,” according to a motion filed by Bagudu’s brother, Ibrahim, to the District Court for the District of Columbia in the US capital on March 30.
The US Department of Justice said in February that its Nigerian counterpart is hindering its efforts to recover the allegedly laundered money from the UK.
Bagudu was part of a network controlled by Abacha that “embezzled, misappropriated and extorted billions from the government of Nigeria,” according to the DOJ.
While successive Nigerian governments have repatriated billions of dollars looted by Abacha, who died in office in 1998, the administration of Nigerian President, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), says it’s prevented from assisting America’s ongoing forfeiture efforts by an agreement between Bagudu and a previous government in 2003.
Abacha is estimated to have stolen as much as $5bn during his five-year rule.
That 2003 settlement, which was approved by a UK court, allowed Bagudu to return $163m to Nigeria “without admitting to wrongdoing,” according to US court filings.
In return, the government dropped all outstanding civil and criminal claims against him. Bagudu was elected a senator in 2009 and the governor of Kebbi state six years later.
Five years after the US launched fresh forfeiture proceedings against him, Bagudu and Buhari’s administration struck a new deal in October 2018 to transfer ownership of the investment portfolios to the Nigerian state, which would immediately pay 98.5m euros to the Kebbi governor and his affiliates.
The terms of the updated settlement can’t be implemented while Nigeria’s application in a UK court is pending and a freezing order is still in place, according to a motion by Ibrahim Bagudu, who is entitled to a $100,000 annuity from the funds and is contesting the US confiscation efforts.

Na why it's better to sometimes KS Better to always do right and avoid criminal actions. However, Buhari doesn’t have the kind of money I can steal neither does he have the money I can collect. He doesn’t even have the money for Lagos votes. So, whatever I promise, it’s for real and is coming from my pocket. It’s not until I go to Alausa before I get money to give you.”
Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party.
He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day.
Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.
“They would surround me like the way ants surround sugar but they duped me; calling for mobilisation funds as if they are not all from the same neighbourhood.
“For this one, even if your footwear is worn-out, as long as you can deliver on votes, I guarantee that I’ll pay you money that will surprise you. May we not lack!
“Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, who are our members, you should be able to call them out. If you’re a registered member, go out and vote. Vote and let it be much, and when I see the result, that’s when I’ll bring out money that is worthwhile for you.”

The federal government is expected to receive $1.05 billion from a syndicated loan backed by oil by the end of May to help revive the economy and *improve the foreign-exchange market.*
The $1.05 billion loan is part of the $3.3 billion “pre-export finance facility” (PxF) facilitated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd and arranged by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in January 2024.
In the deal, Nigeria pledged a total of 164.25 million barrels of crude oil — at 90,000 barrels per day — starting from 2024 to repay the loan through Project Gazelle Funding Ltd, *an “orphan” special purpose vehicle (SPV) incorporated in Bahamas for the PxF.*
The NNPC had received the initial disbursement of $2.25 billion of the agreed $3 billion under the crude oil prepayment facility.
Speaking on the loan on Monday, Denys Denya, senior executive vice president for finance, administration and banking at Afreximbank, said the loan would be finalised next month.
“The verification of the crude availability has happened so we expect in the next month to finalize the release of the balance,” Denya said.
*“Based on future production, you get the money now.”*
Denya also said the facility has participation from commercial banks and oil traders, most of which have already secured internal approvals.
The Afreximbank oil-for-cash loan agreement with NNPC is expected to *attract an interest of 11.85 percent per annum.*

Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.
Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.
Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.
But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.
He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.
Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.
These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.
The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.

Kokomaster69: Tinubu is a pathological liar , a trickster and don't believe him ever. Time shall tell for those who are his praise singers Mark this statement. Please why did you forget to say that he is also a druggie cum drug lord Racoon: Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.
Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.
His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993
It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.
Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’ https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/?.
U.S. court judgement indicts Tinubu for drug trafficking Twitter has been agog with a United States District Court judgement from the Northern District of Illinois taking possession of Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s money over his involvement in drug trafficking.
The judgement docketed on July 26, 1993, and certified by Thomas O. Burton, the clerk of the court, indicted Tinubu for heroin trafficking in the state of Illinois through a proxy organisation owned by Adegboyega Mueez Akande and subsequently forfeited the proceeds of the crime to the U.S. government.
The funds, which were held by First Heritage Bank and Citibank in trust for Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), were forfeited to the U.S. government for being proceeds of drug-related offences.
Details from the now-circulated court papers show that Michael J. Shepard, the attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, said in 1993 that the court has jurisdiction over the case brought to it by special agent Kevin Moss.
According to the document, the monies held in those forfeited accounts were proceeds from white heroin drug operations operated by Aknade and his partners. Akande had a strong and well-connected narcotics business, whose proceeds were substantial and kept in the forfeited bank accounts, the document shows.
The affidavit revealed that the defendant’s—Tinubu funds—represented a substantial part of the proceeds from this operation or property involved in money laundering.
That Judge Michael believes based on indisputable evidence that the funds belonging to Tinubu stashed in his Citibank and First Heritage Bank accounts were proceeds from Akande and other narcotraffickers’ heroin operations. The judge concluded that the proceeds be forfeited to the US government. Below is an excerpt of the court judgement: https://www.google.com/amp/s/businessday.ng/amp/news/article/u-s-court-judgement-indicts-tinubu-for-drug-trafficking/
US Court Releases Documents Linking Tinubu to Largescale Drug Peddling Court documents released by the United States District Court have shown that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was culpable in drug trafficking and money laundering charge instituted against him in 1993.
This latest development put paid to all controversies around the Ikirun-born former Lagos State governor as a political figure with a history of drug peddling and money laundering.
In the court documents made public on August 10, 2022 by the US court sitting in the district of Illinois, eastern division, but brought to public notice on Tuesday by Peoples Gazette, the court affirmed that Tinubu and his cronies engaged in drug peddling “on a large scale and the operations were substantial”.
Magistrate Rijcklo, who granted the forfeiture order, stated that the funds found in the account numbers domiciled with Citibank and Heritage Bank respectively, operated by Tinubu “represent proceeds of narcotics trafficking and further represent property involved in money laundering in violation of 18 USC §§ 1956 and 1957”.
The court, importantly, “ordered that the funds in the account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank in the name of Bola Tinubu represent proceeds of narcotics trafficking or were involved in financial transactions” which run foul of US laws.
It was further held by the said court that, “First Heritage Bank shall issue a check in the amount of $460,000 payable to Federal reserve Bank of Chicago and that the funds shall be disposed of according to the law.”
In a manner suggestive of their illicit business, the Tinubu’s successful drug cartel kept a number of bank accounts in the US before the law caught up with them as evidenced in the said certified true copy of the court documents marked 93C.4483 and sighted by FIJ.
Nigerians who disagree with Tinubu on political grounds and who feel his personal life is questionable have consistently called him out. Many Nigerians have gone beyond verbal accusations to submit petitions to anti-graft agencies and drug control agencies to investigate the two-time governor of Lagos State.
Aside drug-trafficking baggage, which has been hanging over his neck for years, Tinubu has been accused of falsifying his age and altering educational credentials in a clear bid to achieve his lifetime political ambition. Public scrutiny to checkmate his personal life was recently rekindled over his ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
However, media records show that in 2003, US Consulate Office in Lagos wrote a letter to Tafa Balogun, the then Inspector-General of Police, saying its records did not indict Tinubu of any wrongdoing at no time in the past within the territory of the United States of America. https://fij.ng/article/us-court-releases-documents-linking-tinubu-to-largescale-drug-peddling/ |

RepoMan007: That what politicians do. Stare up sentiments, most times by playing on ignorance of the gullible.
They knew dollar was being subsidized but still asked such a deceptive question, so I dont blame Obidients and PDP when they cry about higher prices. If dollar is no longer being subsidised, then what is the meaning of our Afreximbank loan nlfpmod: OPEOLUWA also explains:
This is great news. This is a form of Volumetric Production Payment (VPP). It is a structured investment that involves the owner of an oil or gas interest ( Nigeria/ NNPC) borrowing money( $3 billion) against a specific volume of production of crude oil. The investor or lender (Afrexim bank) receives a stated monthly quota of crude oil often in raw output, which is then marketed by the VPP buyer( Afrexim ). Buyers could include investment banks, hedge funds, energy companies, and insurance companies.
Simply put, Afrexim is borrowing us $3 billion which will be used to help stabilize the naira in exchange for a daily quota of our crude oil production.
This is part of PBAT’s fiscal ideology he talked about in his article in 2015: “Oil is a passive asset in the ground. When cash-strapped yet in need of more revenue presently, a nation should also consider issuing guarantees on the future oil shipments on a price certain paid now; or selling a portion of its equity in the joint ventures.
Some may call this a variant of an oil futures. Whatever it is called, it should be considered particularly as a measure to improve our foreign currency position.” |

It takes time Indeed. And having the highest number of children out of school is a sign that we are steadily getting good in sciences and technology. Clap for your brilliant 100 million goals, which obviously didn’t take you time. |

Sleekfingers: If they are provide efficient and adequate security I might be interested. Look at what happened between Rangers and Eyimba match . And you expect someone like me to go and watch a match in that kinda stadium.
But are they ready to develop ? Back in the late 80's and early 90's our league was doing well . People like MKO and others were financially supporting them . I expected it to have improved more than that by now. Instead it is still crawling like snail. They here and they there, who are THEY? If you are interested, are THEY stopping you from putting in your own efforts to revamp the league to your efficient and adequate security standards The slowdown was due to satellite Tv making the leagues of the racist colonial masters available. |

Sleekfingers: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
150m naira is bigger than £62 .3m abi?
South Africa PSL- $867,000. . No do no do, we still try since people like you hardly show up for matches, don't buy merchandise, and are not keen to watch the live matches on TV such that broadcasters have no incentive to pay for transmission rights and companies are not interested to advertise. With all these, how much blame do your likes have for the low amount |

naptu2: Final table and results of the final matchday. Quite interesting how Bendel Insurance lost at home to Bayelsa United, despite being way above the visitors on the league table. With a few home losses by different teams in this season, those using that as an excuse for being unpatriotic and dissing our national league should find something else to say for their loyalty to the leagues and clubs of the colonial masters who they ironically blame for underdeveloping our continent. So sad that Sporting Lagos fizzled out but happy that another Lagos team was promoted to NPFL. |

DeepSight: That it is their prerogative is beyond cavil. No one disputes that. In fact they dont have to give a reason. But refusing such a person especially with the excuse that they will run away, is just insulting, unnecessary and frankly stupid. Thats my view.
But I understand you, no worries.
PS: When you say "compelling reason" you make it sound like it must be an emergency or a national security matter. No. It is not so. People go on holidays for example. Tourism, etc. Compelling reason for me in this regard means that the country will receive a greater benefit from the presence of the foreigner in their country than the cost of having him around. Benefits are not just direct costs. And costs are not monetary only. |

DeepSight: It seemed implicit. However apologies if I have misunderstood you. Perhaps you are saying we have given them the right to treat us that way. That is exactly what I said. They will make exemptions for people who THEY feel have a compelling reason to be in their country. However it is purely their prerogative. |
