Politics › Nigerian Teenage Poet Selling Poem To Donate To B.H. Victims by AnonymX(op): 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2015 |
I came across this online on the blog of Nigerian teenage poet, Timothy Nkenu today: Inspired by Project Borno started by Nigerian Singer, Morell, I decided to write the "SUDDENLY". Today, I decided to find a means of donating to the people, selling the poem! Please be guaranteed that ALL revenue generated from this would go to the victims. The Poem: We were outside the compound Smiling faces and merry hearts Enjoying the evening breeze Living the normal life of peasants Brother’s wife was pregnant Dad’s farm had bloomed My grades had improved Mum’s leg had healed We had ourselves We had family We had love We had, above all, peace Suddenly! A sound came Then another And another Suddenly! A bullet came flying Then another And another Suddenly! Brother got hit Then dad Then mum Suddenly Our home was set ablaze Then Musa’s Then Danladi’s Suddenly! My town became alien to me Then the next And the next Suddenly! Peace flew away Then stability disappeared And progress vanished Suddenly! All I hear now are the bullets All I smell now is blood Drip, drop, the blood flows Tick, tock, the time goes Who would hear my voice? Who would rescue me? Who would speak for me? For all I ever had has disappeared Suddenly! To buy and for more info: http://pensideoftim..com/2015/03/donate-to-boko-haram-victims-by.html |

I never even noticed any of those. Most of those institutions were built around the Biafran war, maybe a little later and as at then, the trust level was low. So you expect a government fighting for the unity of Nigeria to put its resources into a place that did not want to be? Are you really this foolish, sir? |

Hidentity: Now, how will the authors know that their works will be used for the said purpose? That they won't be put in the dark on the long run and all those common scams?
Several people have approached me here to let them use my work for one reason or the other. After that, they ran away doing things with the works. I laid my hand on another anthology where 4 of my poems were published without acknowledging me.
I think a more credible source posted here will do. I mean a source that can lead to someone or an organisation to be sued if anything goes wrong. They would be notified |

safarigirl: Thank you. How do I sell on kindle? It confuses me PM me...but first, you need to create an Amazon account and do not use any of the passwords you already use because I might need to log in to format. Or email me psot2014@yandex.com |
Education › Re: I'm Tired Of Law by AnonymX: 1:38pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
safarigirl: lol...I've actually considered both. Got a blog, but it's not active, apparently you need a laptop to use a blog efficiently so that one is on hold for now.
With the sports journalism, I was offered a job once, but it was in Lagos, I would have taken it if it were in Abuja. So that angle...anything involving writing, be it on sports, politics, fiction, I'm in. But I've only been able to write fiction so far I could help you sell on Kindle.. You could do it while studying...just like I do...I mean, the writing. I've always admired you, right from my old moniker. |
Education › Re: I'm Tired Of Law by AnonymX: 1:25pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
safarigirl: I was going to use an alternate moniker for this, but what the hell?
I'm just not happy here.
I almost feel like I'm wasting my time reading it. When I sit and listen to others talk about going to law school and practicing, I take on a 'whatever' stance. It's not my passion....funny enough I don't think my passion(s) can take me anywhere- at least not in Nigeria
I'm not passionate about law. I don't see myself in a wig and gown or a law court. Everytime I write an exam, I don't feel like I wrote enough to pass. And all I think of is serial F's or just useless grades....what's the point?
Is there really any point in studying a course you have no passion for? I know many people do it mostly because all they see is the profit in the long term, but I'm not programmed like that.
I need advice, because I'm really unhappy and I might even say depressed anytime I think of this course
*singing Tomorrow from Annie* I'm also a Law student, outside Nigeria though. I'm fed up plus what I really want to become is a writer/poet/media bussiness person. I'm intelligent with ideas but my results suggest something different. Just hold on...maybe as Plan B. |

Seun: The U.S. says, don't execute people on mere suspicion without proper trial. Don't punish the innocent along with the guilty. If you do this we will provide you with assistance and advanced weapons that will make it easy for you to defeat the Bokos. Sounds like a good deal to me. Seeing a guy who because of his unexplanable actions, you lost your two best friends in battle, what would you do? I simply don't believe the U.S' sincerity on this issue. |
Politics › Re: Why Couldn't We Stop Human Rights Abuses To Get Better Weapons? by AnonymX: 1:58am On Mar 10, 2015 |
Seun: Is it also necessary to regularly execute unarmed suspects without trial? Funny enough, it was this very act that radicalised Boko Haram. Boko Haram would have radicalised sooner or later... Sometimes Law simply does not work for common sense, "morality" does the job. |
