The National coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang Chinedu Obigwe, Saturday alleged that All Progressives Congress, APC quest to southeast was to ruin Igbo the same way they annihilated the Nigeria economy.

He said this while reacting to a viral picture of the APC gubernatorial candidate’s supporters, Tony Nwoye, caught drinking to stupor, noting that such act was an evidence of his assertion that Nwoye is on a dark mission, which is “to ruin the future of Anambra youths by using them for thuggery and other uncivilized acts.

Obigwe in a statement issued lampooned Nwoye’s campaign spokesman over a statement credited to him that ‘APC will erase Governor Obiano’s performance in Anambra State’ thus drew the attention of the people of state to such an inconceivable and condemnable comment.

According to him, “APC is conglomerates of destroyers whose aim is to destroy Igbo the way they destroyed Nigeria economy. He equally stated that as at 2015 Nigeria external debt grew from $10.3billion dollars to $15billion dollars which was a testament of bad government.

Obigwe further opined that the inability of Federal government to fund the 2017 budget was trajectory to her bad economic policies which the Southeast APC leaders should bury their heads in shame. He said that the people of Anambra State are solidly behind Governor Obiano and will resist the importation of APC's obnoxious and impoverished policies through Tony Nwoye to Anambra State.

However, he commended Ogbaru traditional rulers for rejecting the misguided ambition of their Son Oseloka Obaze and also said that such courageous and commendable act is a proof that they want the progress and betterment of Anambra State.

Obigwe also commended a teacher from Central School Abagana for winning best teacher of the year 2017 award in Nigeria. He said that the award is a proof of excellent in the educational sector under Governor Obiano’s watch. He referred to the award as a masterstroke to masters of falsehood concoction.

Obigwe finally advised the people of Anambra State to vote for Obiano because he is the best among the candidates contesting the November 18th election, noting that a vote for Obiano is a vote for more success to the State and more dividends of good governance delivery.

Controversy is raging over N5m gift by one of the APC Candidates to the party’s “Take-over” Committee for Anambra which seems to buttress the claims that the contraption of former PDP politicians of South East extraction headed by former Governor Jim Nwobodo may be doomed even before its take-off.

The Committee which has been dubbed “Commanders of an Invasion Army,” is already embroiled in brouhaha over a meager N5m donated to it by one Barth Nwibe at Finotel Awka, shortly after they were unveiled.
It was reliably gathered that when the said amount was handed over to the members, former governor Orji Uzo kalu queried the meager sum brought by the candidate but was counteracted by Chief Nwobodo who termed it “money for kolanut,” thus creating a loophole for the members to pocket it.

Melee however arose when other contestants got wind of the N5m bribe and the likelihood that it may unduly influence outcome of the yet to be conducted APC Gubernatorial Primaries for Anambra by swaying the decisions in favour of Nwibe.

Even as Nwibe made spirited denials of any intention to influence the team, others insisted that the Committee should either collect equal sum from each candidate for “kolanut” or return what they took from the said Nwibe for good order sake.

Already, observers of the unfolding drama in the APC “Take-over” Committee for Anambra were worried that a group which was given the party’s mandate and warned against undue influence by the contestants fell easily to entrapment.

An APC chieftain in Awka, Chief Arize Nweke who got wind of the N5m controversy expressed surprise that the Committee could not wait before messing themselves up, even though it is obvious that they were out to line their pockets in Anambra.

A prominent party official who has the ear of the National Chairman Chief John Oyegun was overheard complaining that the group cannot disgrace the APC.

Said he: “These men were deliberately selected so they can bring their experience from the PDP elections to help APC get at least 25% in Anambra, but greed will not allow to avoid making a mess of the whole thing.”

Already some members of the Committee have dissociated themselves from the mess while expressing support to the handling of the “kolanut money” issue with care to avoid a situation where some APC candidates turn round to fight the party even before the elections proper.
Efforts to get Chief Nwobodo to clarify the issues have so far proved abortive.

Governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano has been rattled since yesterday when a report surface online that he was nursing plans of dumping his party, APGA for the APC.

Obiano in a statement released by his Senior Special assistant on media, James Eze stated that he remains committed to the APGA.


The statement read;

"Our attention has been drawn to a publication on page 14 of Punch newspaper of 7th October 2016 titled – “APGA Crisis: Obiano May Join APC,” which alleged that the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano may dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The general public is hereby advised to disregard the report as it is totally false and does not have the slightest semblance of truth.
Governor Obiano remains a committed member of APGA whose loyalty to the party is unalloyed and whose passion for the growth and development of the party is beyond equivocation.

It is strange how a clique of internally displaced politicians has continued to circulate spurious and misleading information on a non-existent and sensational figment of their fevered imagination in order to sow confusion among the populace.

Despite the repeated rebuttal of this false report in the past, these vendors of untruth have continued to plant misleading information in the media about a false defection of Governor Obiano to one party today and another party tomorrow.

Nevertheless, we are not unaware that a major motive for the planting of these lies is to distract the governor from focusing on his job and consequently derail the steady and assured March of Anambra State to prosperity.
So, we shall continue to rebut their malignant lies and save the populace from their corrosive influence.

As the Leader and Chairman of BoT of APGA, Governor Obiano is fully aware of the weight and significance of his responsibility and will never waiver in his commitment to the party.

We therefore advise all mischief makers and authoritative speculators to desist from further efforts to create the impression that Governor Obiano has jumped political ship as it only creates doubts and credibility issues for such publications who are obviously diminished in the sight of discerning readers who would always recall that the report was misleading.

In an exclusive chat with Anambra State Online Media, he opened up to us on how he started the business and the benefits...

"My name is Obinna. I am from Njikoka in Anambra State. When i arrived Dubai and couldn't get a job, i decided to think out of the box on what to do to make a living and one day, while in a local restaurant, a man came and placed an order. When the waiter came with the order, it was Chicken With Mashed Potato and Grilled Corn but the corn was not roasted the native Nigerian way as we do with coals.

"That was when the idea came and i decided to give it a try. I contacted a local farmer who supplied raw corn for me and started roasting them close to my neighborhood across the street.

"At first, people who passed by looked at me with curiosity as they had never seen anything of its kind up until one man approached me and i gave him one corn cob to taste. he liked it and the following day, invited 4 of his friends who bought and even took some home."

According to Obinna, that day marked the beginning of his turnaround in the business.

The business according to him is the first of it's kind in Dubai and in no time became a popular delicacy in the neighborhood with people especially Nigerians living there who want to have a taste of home patronise him on a daily basis.

When asked how much he makes as profit, Obinna smiled and said, "The profits are not bad. I sell each corn cob for about 5 to 8 Dirham depending on the size and on a very good day, i take about 60 to 80 Dirham (22$USD)(N8,000) home.", he said.

Three Catholic priests were Monday, September 26, attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Akachine, Nsukka LGA of Enugu State, around 6pm on their way from a condolence visit.

The attack left one of them, Rev Fr. Jude Chetanna Chukwuneke (who was driving) with bullet wounds in the head; and another, Rev. Fr Jude Ezeokana, with injuries sustained after their car lost control and veered into a bush.

The last one, Rev. Fr Emmanuel Dim, who was initially kidnapped, was however released, two days later, according to Jude Atupulazi and Abuchi Onwumelu.

Rev Fr Chukwuneke is of Nnewi Catholic Diocese; Rev Fr Ezeokana and Rev Fr Dim are both of Awka Catholic Diocese.

Narrating their ordeal to Anambra State Online in an exclusive chat, Fr Chukwuneke recalled how they came upon a figure on the road holding a gun at about 200metres ahead. He looked back and spotted another figure, also some 200metres behind.

Sensing trouble, Fr Chukwuneke said he decided to take the option of escaping by engaging the reverse gear. This was the last thing he recalled doing. The next was when he found himself in his vehicle in the middle of the bush about 20metres away from the road. He also realised that he was bleeding profusely in the head and that his soutane was drenched in blood.

Fearing for his life, he asked Fr Ezeokana who was in the passenger seat to perform the last rites for him. But Fr Ezeokana himself was too traumatised.

'At this point, I told two of them to find their way and I came out of the car and started running. But I was pursued by one of the gunmen who soon caught up with me and demanded for money. I told him I had no money. He cocked his gun as if to shoot me, but probably believing there was no need, since I would soon die because of the amount of blood he saw, he left me and ran back towards the others in the car,' Fr Chukwuneke said.

According to him, he soon heard one of the priests shouting, ''I am a priest of God!''. When he looked, he saw Fr Emmanuel Dim being marched off with his hands in the air.

At this point again, Fr Chukwuneke remembered that he had a watch and he tore it off his wrist to check the time and realised it was 6.15pm. His experience in the modus operandi of robbers told him that they did not usually remain at the scene of robbery beyond twenty minutes. But he decided to wait another ten minutes before making a move.

According to him, his decision to move out of the bush was to ensure that even if he died, his body would be discovered, unlike if he died in that bush. When he succeeded in coming onto the road, he tried stopping passing vehicles whose drivers refused to stop. He saw a group of people at a distance and began to run towards them.

After running for about 200 metres, he became exhausted.

It was then that one Ebuka Oluka ran up to help him. Fr Chukwuneke immediately grabbed at the scruff of Ebuka's polo shirt for support. Together they ran again for the rest of the distance to the group of people. While he ran, he kept calling out the phone number of his brother which was the only number he had memorized. He said he was doing this because he was afraid that he could pass out at any moment.

Ebuka tried calling his brother with the number he had been given but the brother did not pick the calls. Before then, Ebuka had pulled off his polo shirt and wrapped it on the priest's head to stem the blood flow. When they eventually got to the people, he was taken to Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka. From there, he was able to contact Dr Joseph Ugboaja, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC) and Dr Jackson Chidozie, head of Children's Unit at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, (NAUTH) Nnewi who were at a conference in Enugu .

The doctors requested for his transfer to Memfys Hospital Neurosurgery in Enugu in order to be given detailed treatment. From there he was taken to NAUTH, Nnewi, where he is currently being treated.

Fr Chukwuneke told Anambra State Online that what got him wondering was that the distance between the point they were attacked and the police checkpoint they had passed was not more than 600 metres.

On how he knew his attackers were of the Fulani stock, he said he had once served in Gombe State and that although they spoke in the Hausa Language, they had a distinctive Fulani accent.

Also speaking exclusively to Anambra State Online immediately the sad tale filtered in, the Awka Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Francis Chidume, confirmed that the three priests were returning from Nsukka where they paid a condolence visit before the ugly incident occurred, noting that unknown to the priests the outlaws were lying in wait for them.

Rev. Fr. Chidume said that Rev. Fr. Chukwuneke, the chaplain of St. Camillus de Lellis Chaplaincy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Okofia, Nnewi Campus, was shot in the head through the side window of the driver's side by the suspected Fulani hoodlums, noting that the pellets stopped few inches to his brain/skull.

Just recently, news about plans by controversial businessman Sir Emeka Offor to rehabilitate a library in Daura made headlines on social media.

Excerpts of the story:

The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation is rehabilitating a library in Daura which is in a dilapidated state.

The Founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and management of the Foundation did a facility tour of the library in Daura, Katsina state.

The library is in dearth of books and the facilities are generally dilapidated.

Sir Emeka Offor promised to help fix the library and ensure the supply of books and other facilities to it’.

Our View on this:

Sir Emeka Offor is the current Chairman of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company.

Since he assumed that office, a lot of controversies have been reported under his watch which includes (but not limited to) the detention and dehumanization of some members of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, South-East Zone last year.

Apart from that, the current state of Electricity Distribution in the South East is deplorable.

It has also been reported that the staff under the payroll of his chain of businesses are owed salaries for many months.

Questions Arising:

Why should Sir Emeka Offor who should be saddled with the responsibility of reversing the rot in the Electricity Sector which bedevils the livelihood of individuals and businesses in the South East be more interested in rehabilitating a library in "far away Daura"?

We know some people who may be quick to come to his defence would say it is a gesture from his foundation but that is where another question arises...How many libraries has the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation rehabilitated in his hometown in Ekwusigo LGA or Anambra State as a whole?
Why should he "take the so-called tour" of the said library at a time when the President who hails from Daura is currently in power and not before now?

Which laudable Charity initiative has his foundation embarked on to improve the lives of the less-privileged in society if any? (We tried to check this on his foundation's website but found out the said website of the foundation was even offline)

If this show of unprecedented gesture of renovating and re-equipping a library which should have been a task for the Katsina State Min. of Education or relevant authorities representing Daura in the House of Assembly is being done based on the basis of Charity, we wish him (Sir Emeka Offor) well but also urge him to remember his people who need his "philanthropy" down here in the South-East because like they say, "Charity Begins At Home"

We only hope that this "gesture" is not being done in a bid to curry the favour of President Buhari to award him juicy contracts in the bid to salvage his sinking business empire which has gone bankrupt as was being speculated in various online media such as http://buzznigeria.com/businessman-emeka-offor-broke/
