RE: Anambra Fathers Raped their Daughters more during Lockdown" (STATING THE FACTS) Our attention was drawn to media reports featured by certain media outlets between 8th to 10th of May with the headline "Anambra Fathers raped their daughters more during Lockdown" According to the report(s), it was allegedly claimed that the Director of Child Welfare Services in Anambra State's Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Mrs. Nkechi Anazodo made the outrageous statements during the United Nations Children’s Fund supported launch of integrated child protection community sensitization campaign held in Awka North Local Government Area. We decided to swing into action by contacting Mrs. Anazodo and we got her to verify the veracity of the report. In a phone call made by members of the Anambra State Online Media, she denied making such comments. "I never said that Anambra Fathers raped their daughters during the lockdown. I simply stated that it was a nationwide occurrence and i was only going to participate on a 10 day sensitization programme to guard against such occurrences happening in our state in case such a scenario is going to take place."she said. Mrs Anazado implied that in her years as Director of Child Welfare Services, there had been 32 cases of rape before the lockdown came into play but the rape incidences though they were in the state had nothing to do with fathers raping their daughters in Anambra. She further stated that most of those rape incidences were perpetrated by "aliens" from other parts of the country. "Anyone telling you i said that Anambra fathers raped their daughters during the lockdown is a blatant liar. You know you journalists can concoct stories sometimes", she retorted. It should be recalled that during the lockdown which affected some selected states in the country, Anambra State had some level of free movement and business activities was never hindered rather slowed down. Anambra State which is mainly known as a major commercial nerve in the country made up of indigenes who are mainly business oriented and agrarians still kept themselves engaged in one form of business activity or the other. Secondly, the whole of Igboland in general and Anambra in particular have very stringent cultural ethics and norms in which some certain actions are seen as a taboo and abomination of which incest is totally frowned at. With the current trend of rape which is being reported all over the media which seems to come in the heels of the Uwaila Omozuwa rape incident, we feel that this fake and calamitous report was cooked up by troublemakers who lack the ethics of proper and investigative journalism just to raise unnecessary dust, trend, seek for attention and tarnish the good name of our dear state. So many rape reports where physical arrests have been made and documented was reported in "some certain parts" of the country where incestuous rape, child rape and even animal rape (bestiality) is said to be endemic with solid proof of the arrest of the perpetrators and even imprisonment of one of them who was given a 2 year sentence that sparked an outcry among Nigerians with the argument that 2 years was too lenient for such a crime. In this vein, we seek to ask the bearers of this fake report to bring to our notice how many of "these fathers" in Anambra were apprehended, arrested, paraded in front of journalists and appeared in court as it was obtained in the previous rape cases reported and "under-reported" in some other parts of the country? We the Anambra State Online Media seek to use this medium to inform the members of the public to disregard the said report as it is totally untrue in every ramification. achi4u:So didn't you read the article well? It has nothing to do with discrimination but in line with the activities occurring in the street. I studied in Nnamdi Azikiwe University and during my stay in Awka, i always knew the Abakilikians as those who are mostly employed as farmhands by residents and some other forms of labor in exchange of cash or food items. The sojourn of the average Abakiliki man in not just Anambra but anywhere has it's significant economical and societal value. You can only allow people to discriminate you when you first of all discriminate against yourself! |

The Governor of Anambra state Mr. Willie Obiano has replied Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, on allegation of discrimination against Abakaliki citizens living in Awka. A joint press briefing by his chief press secretary, James Eze and Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Mr Leo Nwuba, regretted that the renaming of a street had been given wrong interpretation by some people. Eze said: “Governor Obiano is the last man to put down a fellow human being let alone his own Igbo brothers. It is totally inconceivable that anyone could assume that the renaming of Abakaliki Street was done with an intention to spite anyone. The question to ask is, to what purpose, really? “Governor Obiano has always been clear about what he wants to do about the new Awka Capital City. The former Abakaliki Street and the surrounding area have been designated as the entertainment hub of the city. That is where you have the largest concentration of entertainment hangouts. “It is also a part of the city that never sleeps. We have a 24 hours life there. Government has provided adequate security, streetlights, road markings and everything that would encourage a 24 hours life in that axis. That district is gradually evolving into what might be called the Las Vegas of Nigeria especially on Friday nights”. He revealed that when there was an effort to rename the old Abakaliki Street as ‘Willie Obiano Avenue’, the Governor had quickly turned it down because he wanted the streets within that entertainment circuit to bear names that reflect the offerings of the area. “He is meticulous about what should be where. That is why he has mapped out an area that would be known as the Central Business District within the capital. Other areas are also being carved out and properly designated. So, there is really no such thing as an attempt to discriminate against anyone in Governor Obiano’s plan.” Speaking, Leo Nwuba said the state has long designated another street to be named Abakaliki Street within the Capital City. According to him, “The new Abakaliki Street runs from Club Road, across Queen Suites to Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at the Parktonia Hotel end of the road. The street has clear signs identifying it as Abakaliki Street on both ends” he added. Mr Nwuba expressed surprise that there was no attempt to balance the story of the renaming of the street with the announcement that another street had been also renamed as Abakaliki Street. He explained that the renaming of the former Abakaliki Street as ‘Club Road’ was part of the on-going efforts to interpret the Awka City Master Plan, adding that the plan was being tweaked to fit things into their proper places.

Biko...for the benefit of the "Obiano cannot patronize Innoson but decided to go to Japan" gang, the buses to be provided are mini shuttle buses like the one pictured below which is widely used already in Anambra State and which Innoson does not manufacture. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1758457_09092014006_jpeg5db6690b4cda57d452c8371b69b5577b Lalasticlala |
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has set aside ₦765,000,000 for commercial motorcyclists in the state to enable them to purchase mini shuttle buses following the Government’s decision to restrict them from operating in Awka, the state capital, and Onitsha, the Southeast commercial hub, from July 1. The funds will be accessed through the Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA). Existing commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada operators, will take delivery of the buses once they deposit ₦100,000 with ASBA, undertaking to make payments every two weeks, according to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba, who disclosed that the interest-free loan can be repaid within a year and a half. The mini shuttle buses will cost between ₦700,000 and ₦800,000 each. The first set of 200 units of the 1000 buses in the scheme will arrive in the state anytime from now from Japan. Mr Adinuba, in a statement, said that the Obano administration decided to phase out Okada operations in Awka and Onitsha so as to economically empower the operators and quicken the process of turning the state into a modern place like Dubai. “A situation where some members of the public have been made to believe that they cannot rise beyond the level of Okada riders is unfair and offends good conscience”, the commissioner noted. “Governor Obiano wants commercial motorcyclists to get to the next level by becoming bus owners. “Bus ownership will generate far more revenue for the present Okada riders because whereas a motorcyclist is not allowed to have more than one passenger at a time, a shuttle bus can carry as many as seven passengers”. Adinuba said that another reason for the decision to phase out Okada operations in the stae’s two leading cities is the plan to make Anambra State the “Dubai of Africa within the next few decades, a status which no place can attain by making Okada dominate the entire landscape”. He also stated that the high rate of serious road accidents involving Okada riders and their passengers is another reason for the restriction. He declared: “Up to 70% of accident cases in orthopaedic and other hospitals in Anambra State and beyond involve commercial motorcycle crashes, and it is not right for any government which cares for the welfare and future of its citizens not to do anything about this phenomenon considering that the safety of every individual is the primary constitutional responsibility of the state”. What is more, he continued, “many robberies and other violent crimes throughout Nigeria have been traced to people using commercial motorcycles. We do not want anything which can compromise our hard earned reputation as Nigeria’s safest state”. The Information Commissioner disclosed that Anamba did not follow other Southeastern states to restrict Okada operations when they did because Obiano was developing a scheme to “provide the people of the state with superior services and make the Okada operators more productive agents of our economy. “The delay is worth it because Governor Obiano did not want the Okada operators to be out of employment. What is more, we are today proud of our record as perhaps the only government in Nigeria’s history to provide Okada riders with buses”. Meanwhile, the Anambra State empowerment programme for commercial motorcyclists has been generating reactions. The chairman of the Okada Riders Association in the state, Jude Udegbe, described it “as another evidence of Obiano’s humane nature” while the chairman of the state branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Jerry Nnubia, called it a welcome development “which has the potential to dramatically improve the lives of Okada operators and reduce the crime rate in our state”. The chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu, said it shows that “the Governor’s second tenure will witness a radical improvement in all sectors” --- Anambra State Online Media (ANSOM) SOURCE: www.fb.com/AnambraOnline

ItwasntMe:The volcano might not be active but from what can be seen here, there is activity of molten magma happening in that very site. |
ItwasntMe:Fault lines or zones are usually prone to Earthquakes. We are talking about a volcano here sir. |
The gods must be angry!
Which gods? Must everything have a spiritual undertone? |
Could this be an impending volcanic eruption? Before a volcano erupts, there is normally an increase in earthquakes and tremors near and under the volcano. These are caused by magma (molten rock) pushing upward through the rock under the volcano. The ground may crack open and allow steam to escape. Gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, a gas that smells like eggs gone bad, frequently are present and escape in seams along mountainous rocks. Hot springs in the area around the volcano may appear or change in appearance and temperature. It is really shocking that so-called "Environmental Analysts" couldn't decipher what is about to happen and "Health Experts" are advising residents in the area to take "2 tins of milk daily to prevent a health crisis. PANIC IN NNEWI AS STREAM DRIES UP; EMITS FLAMES, OFFENSIVE ODOR! Many visitors know Nnewi in Anambra State only as an industrial hub East of the Niger with the Japan of Africa accolade. But there are other natural deposits, even mysteries that make the industrial community a place to visit. A recent discovery at Umuzu Mbana village, Otolo, Nnewi, where a waterfall of many centuries that formed a stream at its base called Oduga Stream suddenly dried up, leaving a mystery fire at the bush around in its stead with very offensive odour that has sent the villagers packing. The occurrence has remained a hard nut to crack even by geologists who visited the scene recently. Many of the villagers were said to have relocated to other neighborhoods because of the health hazards the mysterious offensive odour has subjected them to. But others who could not easily relocate are still trapped in the village helplessly. The President General of the community, Hon Afam Muodelo told our reporter that before now, the stream was the source of potable water for the villagers. He said the water was the cleanest of all, including boreholes within the environment with no atom of impurity as it came out from the rock. He explained that it was always kept clean by the youths every last Saturday of the month as a matter of the village policy which started from their forefathers. “It was around January 2018 when the villagers began to perceive foul odour all over the place and nobody could fathom what was wrong or the source of the odour. Our youths were dispatched to go and find out what was amiss. And they came back with the information that it was coming from the stream site which dried up some months earlier and people had stopped visiting it. They also came with the information that smokes and fire were coming out from the site,” Hon Muodelo explained. He said that when the villagers sighted the fire at the waterfall area they thought it was something they could just contain and had to mobilize the youths to put it out with water. But surprisingly, according to him, that was to no avail. He said all the rainfalls so far this year could not quench the bush fire with thick smokes that had been raging with restricted portions in the bush with some stuffs like ceramics around the spots. To show how concerned and worried the villagers are, the community leader said the attentions of Anambra State Ministry Health, State Ministry of Environment, State Fire Service, Nnewi Council Area, geologists from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and member representing Nnewi North/ Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly were drawn to the site with no solution at sight. He told our reporter that the state health officials advised that every member of the village must begin to take two tins of liquid milk every day, morning and night, as a preventive measure against health hazards the odour oozing from the bush might cause them. But the community leader was worried that not every family in the village could afford that on a daily basis. Muodelo said there was no deity at the area of the incident or any sacrilegious thing done there to attract the unusual happenings. He called on the Federal and State governments to urgently come to the rescue of the villagers who were exposed to serious health hazards. Opinions in the village suggested declaring the residents internally displaced and to evacuate them to a camp until the issues were sorted out to avoid recording casualties. The Child whose picture appears below has been missing for about 2 weeks and counting. According to the information we got from a member of our Anambra State Online Whatsapp Group, the little girl aged 3 years and 10 months known as Chibugo Faustina Chibueze whose parents hail from Umunriofia Village, Oraeri Town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State was kidnapped on the 28th day of February 2018 in Ahaoda, Rivers State where her parents reside. On that fateful morning, her mother dropped her and her elder brother close to their school "Gospel International School, Ahaoda" and left them. Just at the entrance of the school premises, an unknown man with dark glasses accosted both of them, gave the elder brother some money to buy some biscuits but when the boy returned, he couldn't find both his sister and the man. Whoever has any useful information or may have seen little Faustina should please contact St. Peter's Catholic Church Ahaoda or reach the father Mr Chibueze Onwuekwe on 07064299061 or contact the nearest police station. #EndSARS: "We drank our urine to quench thirst in SARS cell"---SARS Victim Recounts. As the ‘EndSARS’ campaign continues to sweep across the nation, a 23-year-old man has recounted his horrifying encounter with operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Awkuzu, in Anambra State. It was learnt that some SARS operatives had been threatening the young man and because of this, his real name is concealed. It is, however, important to note that Amnesty International is solidly behind this young man in his quest for justice. For the purpose of this write up, he would be called "Chijindu". Chijindu was arrested on February 13, 2017, in Anambra State, after he was accused of stealing a laptop. He was moved to Awkuzu SARS around 6:30pm that fateful day. He recalled that immediately he was dragged to SARS office, he was frisked and his money, N15,400, which was in his pocket, was confiscated. The policemen also allegedly collected his wristwatch, necklace and phone. He further recounted: “When the Admin officer saw me, he directed his men to go and hang me. They took me to the back of a hall and tied me with ropes. They tied my hands behind; tied my two legs and then joined the ropes in the hands and that of the legs by the back causing my chest to protrude. They had two already prepared iron stands where they used to hang people. They crossed an iron rod through the ropes and then lifted me up by the rod and hung me on the iron stand. They started using all manner of items to beat me, including machete and sticks. They inflicted injuries on me. “One of the officers, Simeon, used an exhaust pipe to hit my teeth, breaking them. I was left hanging for more than three hours. I shouted until I started vomiting blood. Another officer, Agaba, told them to bring me down; that he didn’t want to hear my cries again. When the officer left, my torturers forced a handkerchief into my mouth and tied it with a rope. I was in that state for more than two hours and then I became semi-conscious.” According to Chijindu, when Simeon came to check and noticed he had almost lost consciousness, he called their team leader, Aghaogu, who was also the second in command (2ic) of the team. Aghaogu ordered that Chijindu be brought down. Chijindu said: “They dumped me inside the interrogation hall. Simeon brought my phone, and asked me if I was the owner. I told him I bought it with my money. He took out my two SIM cards and destroyed them with his teeth. He then dropped the phone into his drawer. He told me that it was exhibit. “Aghaogu instructed them to take me to cell five, which is the worst cell in Awkuzu SARS. Those in cell five hardly eat or drink water. The next morning, they brought me out of the cell and took me to Onitsha. They forced me to go and show them where I sold phones and laptops. In Onitsha, at Emeka Offor Plaza, they arrested four persons, alleging that the four guys bought things from me. “But the truth was that I had never met any of those men in my life. They also took me to my aunt’s house in Onitsha and arrested her son. When we returned from Onitsha, they returned me to the place where they had hung me the previous day. They threatened to hang me again since I didn’t want to confess. Another officer, Peter Emiator, took a 2×2 wood and started hitting me on my two legs. He said that he would cripple me since I seemed to be stubborn. He gave me several injuries. The scars are still on my body.” He said that at a point, Aghaogu took Simeon to one corner and had a discussion with him. After the discussion, Simeon returned and without blinking, pulled out his gun and fired Chijindu’s right leg. Another officer, who witnessed the cold blooded shooting, reprimanded Simeon. “My leg started bleeding. Simeon told him that he shouldn’t worry, that they would treat me. Then they took the singlet of one of their victims and tied the bullet injury and returned me to cell five. The owner of the singlet was terribly tortured and shot in the leg and dumped in the cell without any treatment. He died the following morning as a result of the torture,” Chinjindu recalled. The following day, the person that allegedly complained that Chijindu stole his laptop, paid a visit to SARS. The suspect was brought and right in his presence, the policemen started quizzing Chijindu about the laptop. Chijindu said: “I told them that I didn’t know anything about the laptop. The complainant left and I was returned to the cell. That was the last time I heard from the complainant. He didn’t visit again. I was kept in the cell from February 13, 2017 to March 17. We were not given food except some Reverend Sisters or family members of detainees bring food. The Reverend Sister usually bring food on Thursdays and Saturdays. On March 17, there was a rumour that the Human Rights people were coming on emergency inspection of Awkuzu SARS. The policemen brought us out; we were 10 in number. They put us in bus and moved us to another of their cell in Neni.” The Commander at Neni told Chijindu and other suspects to remove their boxers, which was the only garment they had on. The suspects were left naked. The commander instructed his men to take the suspects to cell one. This cell is nicknamed, ‘condemned cell.’ Chijindu narrated: “We passed two passages and then went to a third passage, leading to the cell. After a while, the commander came to address us. He promised to speak with the OC at Awkuzu, to permit them at Neni to give us water to drink. “We waited for two days without any food or water. Then some of us started shouting from the cell, calling on them to give us water. Some of us started urinating and drinking the urine. One of the officers at Neni, nicknamed ‘Too-much-money,’ admonished us to save our strength. He said that we still had a long way to go. Because of this admonition, we shouted the more. We screamed that it was better for them to shoot and kill us, than to starve us to death. They replied that they preferred to watch us die one after the other.” When the suspects continued to cry weakly for water, the exasperated policemen allegedly teargas them into silence. The suspects started crying; they prayed for death, but death refused to come. They were brought out from their cell, and teargassed again, but this time with another kind of teargas; this one was wrapped. The policemen then locked the suspects inside, with many almost choking to death. Chijindu said: “It was terrible. All of my fellow inmates collapsed. Some were foaming from the mouth. I was the only conscious person, but the effect of the gas was bending my neck and twisting my two hands. We were in that condition for three days. On the third day, they came to check whether we were still alive. "They found that we were still breathing, although the teargas had dried almost all the water in our system, making us weaker. They washed the cells and applied some substances after which they returned all suspects to cells.” All this while, the suspects were yet to be given water. Chijindu said that they continued to beg for water, but there was no succor. The Station Officer (SO) asked if any of the suspect came to the world with any cloth, they responded no. He then asked them if they would go with any cloth when they died, they also responded no. He then left them without saying another word. Chijindu noted: “It was then we realized that it was a death sentence.” He continued: “After that week, one of us, Ifeanyi, was bailed, leaving nine of us behind. Before the end of that second week, four, among us died; Okechukwu, Uchenna, Uchechukwu and Chinedu. Their corpses were left with us in the cell until the policemen were ready to evacuate them.” Chijindu further revealed that on the third week, three persons died; Ngirima, Victor Azubuike and Ojoto. Two among the corpses were moved after a full day in the cell with the suspects, while Ojoto’s corpse was left in the cell with the suspects for three days before it was evacuated. Chijindu said that the corpse Ojoto was already decomposing before it was removed. “When the policemen were taking Ojoto’s remains away, I heard them saying, “this one don rotten; no need to carry go Akwuzu, make we bury am for here”. I managed with the little energy left in me to stretch and peep through our tiny window. I watched and saw how they buried Ojoto beside a soak-away-pit at the back of their office there in Neni,” said Chijindu. On Easter Sunday, one of the officers came to attend to suspects in the cells. He told the suspects that their commander would celebrate Easter for them. Alas, nothing was given to them. The following day, which was Easter Monday, while Chidinju was praying, he heard Tochukwu give up his last breath . The suspects alerted the policemen and Tochukwu’s corpse was moved. But before Tochukwu died, two new suspects had joined them in the cell. They are Ifeanyi Mba and Ekene Nwoke. They were both transferred from Akwuzu. When Tochukwu died, Ifeanyi and Ekene started crying. A week after the death of Tochukwu, there were moves to bail one of the new suspects, Chinjidu secretly handed him a piece of paper. The paper contained non-inked written information on how to locate his sister and the direction to his home in Nnewi which he had managed to scribble with a piece of broken broom stick. The young man fulfilled his promise; he located the home and family of Chijindu. He disclosed to them, the horror the young men were passing through in SARS detention facilities. Chijindu family contacted some Human Right activists. It was discovered that Chijindu family members didn’t know he was in detention. They had been looking for him, almost about to declare him missing. Chijindu family and the activists started making frantic efforts to get him out. They were further worried after hearing that he had a gunshot wound on his leg, which was festering. Chijindu said: “The Human Rights people went to Awkuzu and asked after me, the OC SARS called the Station Officer in Neni, who was behind our cell taking his call. The OC reprimanded the commander for allowing us to survive. I overheard their conversation because the SO's phone was on speaker. The OC accused them of giving us food, an accusation which the SO denied. Then the SO and his men brought all of us out and started flogging us. They were mad at me. They searched everywhere, looking for writing materials or phone, with which I communicated to the outside world. They couldn’t find anything. They threatened to bring me out and “finish” me. On April 24, 2017, around 9:30pm, some policemen came to Neni and took me to Awkuzu. “The following day, which was a Tuesday, policemen brought me out to the see the OC SARS. The OC asked me if I was Chijindu, I said yes. He openly expressed shock that I survived Neni. The OC then asked me whether I had eaten anything, I said no. He asked me what I wanted to eat, I told him that I wanted liquid as I found it very difficult to swallow. He asked them to go and get me tea with bread. The following day they took me to Magistrate’s Court at Nteje.” When Chijindu was arraigned, it was discovered that there was no complainant, no witness. He also didn’t have legal representation. The police charged him for armed robbery. The Magistrate referred the case to High court. The New Telegraph Newspaper, had earlier chronicled an award winning piece on the killings of suspects and other atrocities committed by SARS men across Nigeria. The chronicle was recognized and applauded by the Wole Soyinka Centre of Investigative Journalism. The atrocities in SARS had spanned many Inspectors-Generals of Police, but it is on record, that former IGP, Solomon Arase rose against such horrendous activities. It was also during his administration that some SARS men were dismissed for killing detainees and other shocking acts. Immediately Arase left office, the Force went back to its old ways of flagrant impunity. An Amnesty International Nigeria spokesperson, Mr Damian Ugwu, reacting to those support SARS activities, said: “It was disheartening to see pictures of young man and women in Port Harcourt and Abuja, carrying banners in support of SARS. I often wonder how far some Nigerians are willing to go to survive. Most worrisome is that some people who claimed to represent Anambra State were also part of the charade. For the record Anambra State is the home of SARS Awkuzu.” According to Amnesty International, detainees were subjected to “horrific torture methods, including hanging, starvation, beatings, shootings and mock executions, at the hands of corrupt SARS officers. Ugwu, said: “A police unit created to protect the people has instead become a danger to society, torturing its victims with complete impunity while fomenting a toxic climate of fear and corruption. Our research has uncovered a pattern of ruthless human rights violations where victims are arrested and tortured until they either make a ‘confession’ or pay officers a bribe to be released. Most of the time, huge amounts ranging from N100,000 to even N500,000 was paid to secure the release of some of those detained. Failure to meet such huge financial demands meant imminent death while in detention. The SARS officers are getting rich through their brutality because as you can see, it seems that torture has become a lucrative business.” Amnesty International said it found 130 detainees living in overcrowded cells at a SARS detention in Abuja known as the ‘Abattoir’. Investigation has showed that people detained by SARS, are often not allowed access to a lawyer, a doctor or family members while in incarceration. Yet in various cases where victims of police torture or other ill-treatment attempted to seek justice, the authorities took no action. “It is time for the authorities to ensure that officers responsible for such human rights violations are finally held accountable. There is also an urgent need for robust legislation that ensures all acts of torture are offences under Nigeria’s criminal law,” said Ugwu. The Police Public Relation Officer (FPRO), Jimoh Moshood, has dismissed allegations of torture and crimes leveled against SARS. SARS was established by the Nigeria police to tackle armed robberies. On December 2, Nigerians took to the social media to condemn impunity among SARS operatives. One of those who shared their experiences is Chijindu. Moshood told Nigerians to be wary of their use of social media saying the #EndSARS was started by someone with an ulterior motive. He said the social media was porous and users should be cautious. His words: “Somebody who has an ulterior motive put up the hashtag and said #EndSARS now. Nigerians should be mindful because the social media is very porous. What is the cause of the outcry in the first place? This was why the IGP was concerned about the cause of the outcry. People should be mindful of the intention of the person that put up the hashtag that people are falling into it.” According to him, SARS has been in operation for over 40 years and those calling for a scrap of the squad should disabuse their minds as they are performing their duties well. Speaking concerning complaints and allegations by some social media users of being brutalized by SARS, Moshood said Nigerians should report complains about the operations of SARS. He said: “We’re not saying there is no infraction. If there are infraction not only in SARS personnel, even other conventional policemen that carry out other responsibility, people should report to us and it will be addressed. When you have complaints, report to us and it will be addressed. There has not been any specific violation of human rights leveled against any SARS personnel. So anybody that is spreading such a rumor is not doing the nation any good. SARS has no excesses and when there is any, we do investigate. Barely one week after a young pretty girl from Imo was caught by vigilantes after burgling a house, another similar episode has occurred. The lady you see in this video hails from Abia State and from her own narrative, a prostitute. The lady who seems to be in her thirties broke into another woman's house in an attempt to cart away dollars and some bottles of wine but ran out of luck as she was caught in the act. It was said that when she broke into the house, unknown to her, the neighbour of the woman who owns the house alerted her on phone and she was able to bring in the members of the Anambra Vigilante who caught her right in the bedroom of the owner of the house.
