In theory, the purpose of the State—which itself is congealed force—is to protect its citizens within its bailiwick from illegitimate force. Nigeria has lost more troops in this dispensation fighting BH than we did in the last where BH operated in a more clandestine manner targeting public places and civilians by suicide bombers. But don't tell Lai Mohammed, who believes that losing entire company of soldiers and seeing more and more high ranking officers killed in action is not comparable by any means to losing the real hard fight. BH under Buhari is no longer interested in "soft targets" rather being empowered by same Buhari, the group is now taking the fight to hard targets - the Nigerian Army.

This is how Buhari has so much messed the war on terror in the NE by politicing the war.

On the economy, the govt is also extremely insincere and outright deceptive. The massive fraud ongoing in all strata of govt is so mind boggling. The NNPC under Buhari denies there exist subsidy on fuel imports but will rather use the term "under recovery " because according to them, they are not paying subsidy shortfalls to independent marketers but are the ones bearing the loss from their own imports. When you also couple the fact that daily fuel consumption has increased to a mind boggling 50 million litres a claimed by the NNPC despite the crushing recession and lowered purchasing power due to wage stagnation and a nearly 150% price hike at the pump, one begins to wonder if they take us for fools.

I will not touch too much on our legal system and legislature as we can all bear witness on how Buhari has bastardized both institutions with the emergence of the current incompetent CJN whose only qualification is his fulani heritage and religious fanaticism which naturally endeared him to Buhari. Or how the national assembly has now become nothing but a rubber stamp.

That’s why everything has become politicized in Nigeria. Because the real fools in Aso Rock think us as fools. Majority of Nigerians are poor and uneducated or barely educated and so over the years, Nigerians have come to see the govt as their parent, so they’re constantly pleading with it, like children, asking it for favors and benefits. Like children, they expect the State to magically support them.
They don’t seem to understand that the State isn’t a cornucopia. It’s the opposite. It’s a dangerous parasite. A huge tapeworm in the body of society. Buhari and his ilk in the APC never made a name for themselves in private capacity, rather they are opportunistic parasites who have been nurtured over the years in the incubating cesspool of bureaucratic corruption. They've played politics all their lives in their unproductive capacity as state employees or political appointees/ elected officials. They are the real canker worm.

Over the last 50 odd years since independence, the average Nigerian’s mind has been captured by the idea of politics and the State. It’s the Stockholm syndrome—where people are captured by kidnappers and actually grow to love and support them—writ large.

So the growth of the State—which is abetted by the politicization of society—is going to continue growing until we reach a crisis.
