Impunity Has Built a Mansion in Nigeria. But, one thing is certain; the Perpetrators of impunity will Run Out of Luck Someday.

No legislative house, be it the Senate, House of Representatives or the House of Assembly has the power to suspend any member!

The Court had nullified such suspension in the past

If Senator Natasha should approach the court, her suspension will be equally nullified.

However, I do not see any sense in her allegations of sexual indecency against the Senate President!

Why did she wait till she violated a senate rule before realizing she had to cry out to the public about the alleged harassment?

Foreign AffairsRe: 33 World Leaders Back Zelensky After Face-off With Trump by Antoeni(op): 2:05am On Mar 02, 2025
This situation ultimately comes down to common sense. Ukraine was formerly part of the Soviet Union, and the policies of perestroika and glasnost marked the end of communism and the fragmentation of the Soviet Union. This fragmentation led to the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact with other communist countries.

Russia has primarily demanded that NATO respect its alliances with other Slavic nations and refrain from allowing former Soviet states to join NATO. Instead, these countries could participate in the European Union based on economic ties. However, NATO's aggressive actions underestimated Russia’s willingness to attack Ukraine, even when it was clear what the consequences might be.

One must consider whether more lives could have been saved if President Zelensky had approached these issues more logically for the greater good of Ukrainians. He knew that Ukraine was outmatched by Russia in terms of military power but relied heavily on NATO and the United States. This reliance illustrates the danger of entering a conflict with the assumption that your alleged supporters will fully back you. Notably, the funds spent so far in the war have largely come from U.S. taxpayers, with the United States contributing twice as much as the entire European Union combined.

In my view, the primary solution is to stop this needless war. NATO seemed to want to weaken Russia militarily by using Ukraine as a pawn.

Thirty-three world leaders have declared support for Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, following a tense meeting between him and United States President, Donald Trump.

The world leaders also condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

Zelensky and Trump’s meeting at the Oval Office on Friday, with US Vice President JD Vance also in attendance ended in a deadlock.

Discussions at the meeting generated heated arguments as the two leaders debated the future of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Tensions escalated when the leaders clashed over a minerals deal that would grant the US extensive access to Ukraine’s rare earth resources in exchange for Washington’s continued support for Kyiv in its fight against Russia.

Zelensky insisted that any agreement must include genuine security guarantees for Ukraine, a demand that Trump resisted.

The press conference turned confrontational when Vance accused Zelensky of being “disrespectful,” pointedly asking, “Have you said ‘thank you’ once?”

The meeting concluded abruptly, with Zelensky and his delegation being escorted out of the White House.

Shortly after the meeting, Zelensky took to X to express gratitude to Trump, the US Congress, and Americans for their support.

“Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that,” he wrote.

In an interview with Fox News, Zelensky was asked if he would apologise to Trump. While he declined to elaborate, he acknowledged the public fallout, saying it was “not good for both sides.”

“I’m not sure that we did something bad,” he added. “I cannot change the Ukrainian attitude towards Russia. They are killers for us.”

However, when asked if his relationship with Trump could still be salvaged, Zelensky responded affirmatively.

On Saturday, he posted again on social media, saying, “It is very important for us that Ukraine is heard and that no one forgets about it, neither during the war nor after. It is important for people in Ukraine to know that they are not alone, that their interests are represented in every country, in every corner of the world.”

Following the event, leaders from various parts of the world took to social media, issuing statements on their X handles in support of Ukraine and criticising Russia’s continued aggression.

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, condemned Russia for its “illegal and unjustifiable invasion” of Ukraine.

“For three years now, Ukrainians have fought with courage and resilience. Their fight for democracy, freedom, and sovereignty is a fight that matters to us all. Canada will continue to stand with Ukraine and Ukrainians in achieving a just and lasting peace,” Trudeau wrote.

Also, French President Emmanuel Macron criticised Russia’s actions and defended the sanctions imposed three years ago.

“Thanks to all those who helped and continue. And respect to those who, since the beginning, have been fighting. Because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, for their children, and for the security of Europe,” Macron stated.

Similarly, Slovenian President Nataša Musar denounced Russia’s aggression and commented on the Oval Office meeting.

“What we witnessed in the Oval Office undermines these values and the foundations of diplomacy. We stand firmly in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty. We repeat, Russia is the aggressor,” Musar wrote.

Austrian Chancellor, Karl Nehammer, reiterated Europe’s backing for Ukraine.

“Russia is the aggressor, and therefore Europe supports Ukraine‘s efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace,” he stated.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs also expressed solidarity with Ukraine.

“Ukraine is a victim of Russian aggression. It fights the war with help from many friends and partners,” he posted.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb highlighted Ukraine’s struggle for survival.

He wrote, “The heroic fight of Ukraine against Russia’s war of aggression is about the existence of Ukraine as a nation. We in Finland understand what Ukraine is going through. Ukraine is fighting not only for her independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”

Similarly, Montenegrin President, Jakov Milatovic and Slovak Republic’s fifth President Zuzana Čaputová also expressed support for Ukraine, with Čaputová stating, “The people of Ukraine are defending their right to live. It’s that simple. They deserve all the support they can get to defend this right and to live and prosper as a sovereign nation living in peace.”

Several other world leaders echoed similar sentiments in their tweets, reaffirming their backing for Ukraine.

Sex for mark kind of vibe in the Nigerian senate. This is how low the Nigerian senate has degenerated under Godswill Akpabio. When you leave a serious institution in the hands of a mediocre, he reduces the institution to his level.

Nigeria is in a deep mess.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE REDUCTION IN EX-DEPOT PRICE OF PMS BY N65

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, by N65.00, from N890 to N825 per litre, effective from 27th February 2025.

This strategic price adjustment is designed to provide essential relief to Nigerians in anticipation of the upcoming Ramadan season, while also supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic recovery policy by alleviating the financial burden on the Nigerian populace.

It is important to note that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has consistently lowered the prices of petrol and other refined petroleum products to the benefit of Nigerians. This marks the second price reduction of PMS in February 2025, following a previous decrease of N60.00 earlier in the month.

Additionally, in December 2024, during the yuletide period, the refinery reduced the price of PMS by N70.50, from N970 to N899.50 per litre, as part of its commitment to easing the cost of living and providing relief to Nigerians during the holiday season. This reduction has positively impacted the overall cost of living, benefiting various sectors of the economy, and has also ensured that Nigerians did not experience the perennial fuel scarcity and price hikes typically associated with the yuletide season.

Nigerians will be able to purchase the high-quality Dangote petrol at the following prices in all our partners' retail outlets. For MRS Holdings stations, it will sell for N860 per litre in Lagos, N870 per litre in the South-West, N880 per litre in the North, and N890 per litre in the South-South and South-East respectively.
The same product will also be available at the following prices in AP (Ardova Petroleum) and Heyden stations: N865 per litre in Lagos, N875 per litre in the South-West, N885 per litre in the North, and N895 per litre in the South-South and South-East.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery assures the public of a consistent supply of petroleum products, with sufficient reserves to meet domestic demand, as well as a surplus for export to enhance the country's foreign exchange earnings. The company calls on marketers to support this initiative, ensuring that Nigerians remain the primary beneficiaries of this effort. This collective action will contribute to the broader economic recovery plan led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is committed to making Nigeria self-sufficient in refined petroleum products and establishing the country as a leading oil export hub.

If the Nigerian Senate were a Nollywood production, the latest episode featuring Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan would be the perfect mix of political drama, betrayal, and a pinch of tragicomedy.

Once the darling of the Senate, Natasha has gone from Akpabio’s unofficial “poster girl” to the inconvenient thorn in his side.

The latest skirmish? A battle over where she gets to park her distinguished self in the hallowed chamber.

Akpabio/Natasha/Berekete family matter is a painful reminder of how much freedom of expression which we thought was under assault in military rule times now evidently truly blossomed in those days compared to these civilian times.

“What a shame. Amazing thing is I knew these so called powerful people before their egos took them hostage. We have seen them come and fall before. We are likely to see so again.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its convener, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, the group vowed to defend the rights of women in leadership and mobilise for a nationwide protest if the Senate proceeds with what they described as an “unfair treatment.”

Acivic society, the Concerned Women Group has expressed strong outrage over the Nigerian Senate’s decision to summon Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan before a disciplinary panel, warning that any attempt to suspend her would be met with fierce resistance.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its convener, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, the group vowed to defend the rights of women in leadership and mobilise for a nationwide protest if the Senate proceeds with what they described as an “unfair treatment.”

Sabina explained that Nigerian women would not sit idly by while one of their most vocal advocates is unjustly silenced.

"We have come too far to allow regressive tactics to push us back into the margins of decision-making.”

The group called on President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu to intervene immediately to stop what they termed “political victimisation.”

They further urged the Senate to focus on pressing national issues rather than taking actions that could stifle dissenting voices and breed division.

The group noted that Democracy thrives on the inclusion of diverse perspectives, and any effort to suppress a senator—particularly one representing the minority gender in the chamber—must be condemned in the strongest terms.

The statement read, "This latest development, spearheaded by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, reinforces growing concerns that there is a deliberate effort to silence women in Nigeria's political landscape. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a fearless advocate for the people and one of only three female senators in the 10th National Assembly, is being targeted for standing up for truth and representing her constituents with unwavering commitment.

"We find it alarming that rather than fostering an inclusive and fair legislative environment, the Senate leadership is focusing its energies on suppressing a duly elected representative.

Sabina said that the decision to summon Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is not only unjust but appears to be part of a broader strategy to intimidate and sideline women in politics.

"It is unacceptable that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who speaks boldly for her people and addresses issues affecting Nigerians, is being punished for performing her constitutional duties. Such actions undermine the democratic principles on which our nation was built.

The Concerned Women Group warns that any attempt to suspend Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will be met with strong resistance. Nigerian women will not sit idly by while one of their most vocal advocates is unjustly silenced.

According to concerned group, "We stand united in our resolve to defend the rights of all women in leadership and will not hesitate to mobilise for a nationwide protest should the Senate proceed with this unfair treatment. Nigerian women have come too far to allow regressive tactics to push them back into the margins of decision-making.

"We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to intervene immediately and halt this dangerous path of political victimization. The Senate must focus on addressing pressing national issues rather than engaging in actions that breed division and stifle dissenting voices.

"Democracy thrives on the inclusion of diverse perspectives, and efforts to suppress any senator-particularly one representing the minority gender in the chamber-must be condemned in the strongest terms.

"In conclusion, the Concerned Women Group stands firmly with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. We demand that her rights, privileges, and voice be respected in the Senate," Sabina added.
