During the meeting, the pair are expected to confer on issues of common interest – They shall also speak on the challenges facing both countries, especially in their fight against terrorism President Paul Biya of Cameroon, will at the invitation of President Muhammadu Buhari, begin a two-day state visit to Nigeria on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. President Biya, who will be accompanied by his wife, Chantal and senior Cameroonian government officials, will be received tomorrow afternoon at the Presidential Villa, Abuja by President Buhari. According the statement issued by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, both leaders and their officials will confer on issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon, including ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes. It is expected that new agreements to strengthen existing ties, as well as trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon, will be concluded and signed before the end of President Biya’s visit. A joint communiqué on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials will be issued before President Biya’s departure from Abuja on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Earlier in the day, President Buhari reportedly walked out on ministers during a meeting at presidential villa. The report said the ministers led by youth and sports minister, Solomon Dalung, had sought the audience of president and requested for financial request of N20 million per annum to settle their accommodation problems, but mid-way into the meeting, Buhari was said to have stood up and ‘excused himself’ leaving the ministers dejected and hopeless. |
