There was no war in the Gambia, just coercion. I'm not saying coercion would be enough for Niger, since Gambia's case is different but while US and UN could have supported ECOWAS mission to coerce Yayah Jammeh, they didn't need to provide funding for Senegal to enter Gambia with soilders or for Nigerian Airforce to fly over Gambia or even Nigerian Navy to move around Gambia (if they wanted).

If you have evidence UN and US provided funding in 2017 for Nigeria and Senegal to do this, please share.
