RAMADAN AND LENT GOODWILL MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS

FROM THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria Dr Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN FCMI

As Muslims in Nigeria and across the world commence the sacred month of Ramadan, I give thanks to Almighty Allah for the grace of life and the opportunity to once again witness this spiritually uplifting period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and self-purification.

I also note with deep appreciation that this year’s Ramadan coincides with the commencement of the Christian Lenten season, a solemn period of fasting, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal for our Christian brethren. This rare convergence underscores our shared values of faith, discipline, self-denial, compassion, and devotion to God, and reminds us of the common moral foundation that binds us together as one people.

On behalf of the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to Muslim faithful and Christian brothers and sisters across our dear country as they observe these sacred seasons. Ramadan and Lent remain periods of deep spiritual significance, reminding us of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, humility, discipline, and total submission to the will of God.

These holy seasons provide unique opportunities for personal and collective renewal. They call on us to strengthen our faith, deepen our compassion, and recommit ourselves to righteousness, humility, and service to humanity. As exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), obedience to God nurtures love, reverence, and moral uprightness values that are indispensable for peaceful coexistence and national harmony.

As we fast and pray, I urge Nigerians to embrace the spirit of brotherhood, tolerance, and mutual respect. We must shun all forms of divisive tendencies, promote peace, and work together to build a nation anchored on justice, equity, and good neighbourliness.

I also call on Nigerians to use this sacred period to pray fervently for our country pray for peace, unity, credible leadership, and the security of lives and property. May our collective supplications pave the way for national stability, democratic consolidation, and sustainable development.

Once again, I wish all Muslim faithful a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and our Christian brethren a solemn and fruitful Lenten season. May Allah accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds, grant us good health and long life, and guide us aright in all our undertakings.

PoliticsPDP Secreteriat Still A Subject Pending Litigation - Ini Ememobong by Arafat2022(op): 5:08pm On Feb 06
We have been notified of the intention of some expelled members of our party to either forcibly or in connivance with security forces gain access to and occupy our National Secretariat and other party property.

In response to this, we have written to the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command reminding them that the secretariat is still a res before the Federal High Court, Abuja, and the Court of Appeal. To this end, any attempt to enter and occupy these property will be a resort to self-help and an affront to the time-tested principle of law that parties who have submitted to the jurisdiction of courts should not act in ways that will render nugatory, the powers of the Court. In this particular instance, the case pending before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik was instituted by the expelled members, they cannot resort to self-help, until judgment is delivered in the matter.

This statement serves to remind all the dramatis personae, especially the Police Force, which is a party on record in the said matter, that any action taken to grant access to anybody, pending the determination of the suit, is a contempt of the court. We assure that we will deploy all legal means to defend our property from trespass. Responsibility for any injury to persons or damage to property arising therefrom should be placed solely on the aggressors and their security collaborators.

Foreign AffairsImam Khumeini (QS) And The Reconfiguration Of Global Politics by Arafat2022(op): 1:25pm On Feb 01
IMAM KHOMEINI (QS) AND THE RECONFIGURATION OF GLOBAL POLITICS

By Abdullahi Danladi
1/2/2026

Imam Ruhollah Khomeini stands as one of the most consequential political thinkers of human history, not merely for having led a successful revolution, but for fundamentally altering the conceptual foundations upon which modern global politics had long rested. The establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 represented far more than the collapse of the Pahlavi monarchy; it marked the emergence of a new political paradigm that challenged dominant assumptions about sovereignty, legitimacy, ideology, and the role of religion in public life. In an international system shaped by secular nationalism, imperial influence, and Cold War bipolarity, Imam Khomeini introduced an alternative logic of power, the one rooted in faith, popular mobilization, and resistance to domination (Khomeini, 1981; Dabashi, 2011).

At a time when modernization theory equated political progress with secularization and Westernization (Rostow, 1960), Imam Khomeini decisively rejected the notion that religion was incompatible with modern governance. His political thought advanced the argument that Islam is not confined to personal piety or ritual observance but constitutes a comprehensive framework for social justice, law, and statecraft. The doctrine of Wilayat al-Faqih, articulated in his lectures later compiled as Islamic Government, was not merely a juristic intervention but a response to the crisis of legitimacy afflicting postcolonial Muslim societies (Khomeini, 1970/2002). It sought to reconcile divine sovereignty with popular participation by grounding political authority in ethical accountability and collective consent rather than dynastic rule or external validation. In this sense, Imam Khomeini challenged both Western liberal claims to ideological universality (Rawls, 1993) and the authoritarian secular regimes that had emerged across much of the Muslim world under colonial and postcolonial tutelage.

The global significance of the Islamic Revolution becomes even clearer when situated within the context of Cold War international relations. The late twentieth-century global order was structured around a rigid ideological binary between capitalism and communism, leaving little conceptual space for alternative political imaginaries (Gaddis, 2005). Imam Khomeini’s categorical rejection of both blocks, encapsulated in the doctrine of “Neither East nor West, but the Islamic Republic”, constituted a profound rupture with this bipolar worldview. This position resonates with critical and postcolonial critiques of international relations theory, which have long argued that mainstream realism and liberalism universalize Western historical experiences while marginalizing non-Western political agency (Tickner, 2001; Acharya, 2014). By asserting an independent ideological axis, the Islamic Republic demonstrated that political autonomy need not be derivative of either superpower patronage or Western developmental models.

Equally transformative was Imam Khomeini’s reconfiguration of political subjectivity. His political discourse consistently framed global politics through a moral dichotomy between the oppressed (mustad‘afun) and the arrogant powers (mustakbirun), a framing that parallels Frantz Fanon’s analysis of colonial domination and resistance (Fanon, 1963). This ethical reading of international relations departed sharply from state-centric realism and foregrounded the agency of marginalized peoples and movements. The Iranian Revolution thus contributed to a broader postcolonial reimagining of political agency, demonstrating that ideology, collective identity, and moral commitment could serve as decisive forces against materially superior powers. The influence of this paradigm can be traced in the rise of resistance movements and non-state actors whose political legitimacy rests less on formal sovereignty and more on popular support and ideological coherence.

Central to Imam Khomeini’s intervention was a redefinition of sovereignty itself. While dominant international norms tend to reduce sovereignty to territorial integrity and juridical recognition (Krasner, 1999), his political vision emphasized moral, cultural, and economic independence as its essential foundation. This conception aligns with dependency theory and world-systems analysis, which highlight how formal political independence often coexists with structural economic subordination (Wallerstein, 2004). Imam Khomeini’s insistence on resisting economic exploitation, cultural imperialism, and intellectual dependency rendered sovereignty a lived and contested reality rather than a legal abstraction. Iran’s endurance under prolonged sanctions and political isolation illustrates the resilience of a state whose legitimacy is rooted in ideological solidarity rather than integration into global hegemonic structures.

The enduring relevance of Imam Khomeini’s legacy is evident in contemporary global political developments. The gradual erosion of unipolarity, the growing calls for a multipolar world order, and the resurgence of civilizational and identity-based politics all reflect dynamics that his revolution anticipated. Scholars of international relations have increasingly acknowledged the limits of Western-centric models in explaining global political change (Acharya & Buzan, 2019). In this context, the Islamic Republic of Iran functions as a living, though contested, example of values-based governance—one that resists assimilation into dominant liberal norms while continuing to evolve internally. Its persistence has compelled both critics and observers to reconsider assumptions about legitimacy, power, and political endurance.

In sum, Imam Khomeini’s impact on the world political equation lies in his ability to translate a moral and religious worldview into a concrete political order that disrupted entrenched global hierarchies. He demonstrated that ideas, when embedded in popular consciousness and institutionalized through revolutionary structures, can rival military power and economic coercion. His legacy continues to pose a fundamental challenge to contemporary political theory and international relations: whether it is possible to construct systems of governance that are ethical, sovereign, and resistant to domination in an international system still marked by inequality and asymmetrical power. In this sense, the Islamic Revolution should be understood not as a closed historical episode, but as an ongoing intervention in global debates on power, justice, and human dignity.

From ABU Staff School to Professor of ABU: The Hamman Legacy at ABU Zaria

“ABU raised me, and ABU made me. From my first day in crèche in Kongo Campus, to ABU Staff School, and to my last day as a doctoral student, every step of my journey was shaped within this great institution.”
— Professor Aisha Mahmoud Hamman

Few stories capture the spirit and continuity of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as vividly as the journey of Professor Aisha Mahmoud Hamman, one of the pioneering female Professors of Accounting at the university. Her life is a rare testament to institutional loyalty and academic excellence—she began her education at ABU Staff School, proceeded to Demonstration Secondary School, and earned her B.Sc., Masters, M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance, all from ABU Zaria.

A Childhood Rooted in ABU

Growing up within the ABU community shaped her intellectually and personally. She recalls trekking through the university’s serene green valleys, competing in inter-house sports (as a proud member of Blue House), and learning under dedicated teachers who nurtured curiosity, discipline, and critical thinking. These early experiences laid the foundation for her lifelong love for learning and nature.

Breaking Barriers in Academia

In a male-dominated field, Professor Aisha emerged as a trailblazer. She served in leadership roles including Deputy Director of ICERFE, chaired key committees, and represented the ABU Business School in the University Senate. Her work extended beyond Nigeria, contributing to tax and finance research across more than 24 African countries through the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF). She remains active in professional bodies such as CITN, TADAT, ANAN, and global accounting networks.

Mentorship and Academic Influence

She credits professors such as Prof. M.H. Sabari and Prof. A.B. Dogarawa for shaping her academic rigor and integrity. Their mentorship inspired her teaching career and research discipline, influencing her own mentorship of younger scholars.

Challenges and Resilience

Professor Aisha faced gender bias and societal expectations as a Northern Nigerian Muslim woman in finance and academia. Through preparation, confidence, faith, and strong family support—especially from her husband, Malam Abdulrahman Abdul—she proved that competence has no gender.

The Hamman Family of Professors

The Hamman family is historically unique as the first family with three professors at ABU:
• Professor Mahmoud Hamman (Father): A renowned historian, former Commissioner, Director of Arewa House, and pioneer of key ABU social and market institutions.
• Professor Khadija Mahmoud (Mother): A leading Educational Psychologist and advocate for inclusive education, gender equity, and child development.
• Dr. Yusuf Mahmoud (Brother): A Political Scientist who followed the same ABU educational path to Ph.D. level.

In recognition of their extraordinary contributions, the ABU Students’ Representative Council awarded the family the Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna Legacy Award.

Service to Nation and Advice to Students

Professor Aisha currently serves as Special Adviser on Research and Statistics to the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), bridging academia and public policy.

Her advice to students is simple yet powerful:
• Master your craft
• Embrace technology and data tools
• Build resilience, networks, and strong character

“Knowledge opens the door, but vision, ethics, and character decide how far you go.”

A Legacy That Inspires

From a child in ABU Staff School to a Professor and national policy adviser, Professor Aisha Mahmoud Hamman’s story reflects the enduring power of mentorship, resilience, and institutional heritage. The Hamman legacy stands as a living symbol that ABU does not only educate students—it raises scholars, leaders, and generations of excellence.

PoliticsIbada FHC Judgement A: No Recognition Of Any Faction, No Cause For Alarm by Arafat2022(op): 12:49pm On Jan 30
Ibadan FHC Judgment: No Recognition of Any Faction, No Cause for Alarm

The judgment delivered on Wednesday by the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has been widely misrepresented, prompting unnecessary anxiety and the circulation of misleading claims suggesting that the court recognised a rival faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

That narrative is false, mischievous, and deliberately crafted to confuse party members and the general public.

What the Ibadan court decided was narrow, procedural, and entirely predictable in law.

The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC), which emerged from the Ibadan Convention, approached the court by way of an application for an order of mandamus. The relief sought was simple and specific: to compel relevant authorities to recognise the NWC as the lawful leadership of the party.

In its ruling, the court declined to grant that order, not because it recognised any other faction, but because there are subsisting judgments of courts of coordinate jurisdiction touching on the same leadership dispute. The court held that granting the order as requested would amount to sitting on appeal over decisions of courts of equal standing an exercise it lacks jurisdiction to undertake.

In plain terms, the Federal High Court in Ibadan said: only the appellate courts can resolve the conflict arising from existing Federal High Court decisions. That is the full extent of the judgment.

At no point did the court recognise, endorse, validate, or confer legitimacy on the so-called Wike faction or any other group.

Crucially, the Ibadan court was not invited and did not attempt to determine which faction is authentic. Courts are not Father Christmas; they do not grant unsolicited relief. They either grant what is asked for or refuse it. Nothing more.

The suggestion circulating in some quarters that the Ibadan judgment “recognised the Wike faction” is therefore a deliberate falsehood. The Wike-aligned group did not file any process before the Ibadan court seeking recognition as the authentic PDP leadership. Their application seeking such relief is before a different court Justice Joyce Abdulmalik’s court in Abuja and that matter has been adjourned to 20 February.

To conflate these distinct proceedings is either a gross misunderstanding of basic legal process or a calculated attempt at disinformation.

Following the Ibadan ruling, the Kabiru Turaki–led PDP has already briefed its legal team to file an appeal immediately and pursue all lawful steps necessary to protect its mandate and clarify the legal position at the appellate level.

Until the Court of Appeal makes a definitive pronouncement, the NWC that emerged from the Ibadan Convention remains legally intact and operational.

Members of the party are therefore urged to remain calm, resolute, and focused. There is no vacuum, no judicial endorsement of any rival faction, and no setback to the REBIRTH movement.

What occurred in Ibadan was a procedural pause not a substantive defeat.

Anything beyond that is fake news, pure and simple.

IBADAN FEDERAL HIGH COURT JUDGMENT A NULLITY AS COURT OF APPEAL IS SEIZED OF THE MATTER ON APPEAL.

By Yakubu Pwajok, Law Lecturer (Jos, Plateau State).

The recent judgment delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, or any related Federal High Court proceedings interpreted in connection with the party’s affairs, purporting to affect the leadership, convention, or internal processes of our great party, is a nullity and of no legal effect.

This position is firmly grounded in established principles of Nigerian jurisprudence: once an appeal has been duly filed and the Court of Appeal is seized of jurisdiction over the subject matter, lower courts are divested of the competence to further entertain, vary, or deliver judgments that interfere with or prejudice the appellate process.

Any such action by a court of coordinate or lower jurisdiction amounts to an improper interference and renders the purported decision a nullity ab initio.

Key Legal Observations:

• Judicial Overreach: The matter before the judge had no bearing on the purported Abdulrahman caretaker committee. It is, therefore, a clear violation of judicial ethics and an overreach of authority for a judge to grant reliefs not sought by the defendants.

• Pendency of Appeal: The appellate court is now actively seized of the appeals, including those challenging the validity and implications of prior rulings on PDP internal affairs, the convention processes held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025, and related executive leadership matters.

• Preservation of the Res: In line with precedents from superior courts, including the Supreme Court, no lower court can lawfully pronounce on or enforce decisions on the identical res (subject matter) while an appeal is pending.

The doctrine against the multiplicity of actions and the necessity of preserving the res during an appeal strictly prohibits such overreach.

Conclusion:

Consequently, any judgment emerging from the Federal High Court in Ibadan, or any misapplication of prior rulings to ongoing matters, is incompetent, null, void, and of no consequence whatsoever.

All party faithful, stakeholders, and the general public should disregard any pronouncements or actions predicated on this impugned judgment. They lack legal foundation and will not be recognized by the party.

PoliticsKADUNA Kidnapping Government, Police Denial Shameful by Arafat2022(op): 8:47pm On Jan 21
Press Statement

KADUNA KIDNAP: GOVERNMENT, POLICE DENIAL SHAMEFUL

The Federal Government's silence and the outright denial by the Kaduna State Police and Kajuru Local Government Chairman regarding the kidnapping of approximately 163 worshippers in Kajuru community represents a dangerous pattern recurrent in the course of this administration-the normalization of insecurity and a deliberate attempt to obscure the truth from Nigerians.

When news of this mass abduction first emerged, the Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu did not just deny that it happened, he recklessly dismissed it as the work of mischief makers, peddled by "conflict entrepreneurs". He then had the audacity to demand details of victims. The Kajuru Local Government Chairman similarly denied that any kidnap incident occurred within his jurisdiction.

These denials are deeply hurtful, not only because they are evidently false, but because they reveal the manifest levity with which this administration treats serious matters like security. What makes this even more painful is that, according to the villagers, the police was immediately alerted when the kidnapping occurred.
They had the opportunity to act. Instead, they chose denial, prioritizing the government's image over the lives of 163 Nigerians.

Sadly, since the police eventually accepted the reality of the sad incident, after the residents and the Christian Association of Nigeria provided the names of those kidnapped, the Commissioner of Police and Chairman have been silent, without offering any apologies for their irresponsible conduct and failure to protect the people.
This act of public betrayal and failed cover-up is most shameful and condemnable.
We demand:

1. An immediate public apology from the Commissioner of Police and the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area for their initial denial and failure to act.

2. That the Federal Government immediately deploy a high-powered security team to trace, rescue, and safely return these kidnapped Nigerians to their homes and families.

Once again, we urge this administration to abandon performative governance that prioritizes optics over substance. The business of government is solving problems, not winning applause. One hundred and sixty-three families are waiting. They deserve action, not excuses.

PoliticsHow Kaduna State Government Liar's About Abduction Of I77 Worshippers From A Chu by Arafat2022(op): 10:33am On Jan 21
What transpired in Kurmin Wali, Afogo Ward, Kajuru LGA is not merely a tragic security lapse; it is a damning indictment of a failed governance architecture. The abduction of 177 innocent worshippers from a church, a place of sanctuary is a moral collapse of the state’s primary responsibility: to protect lives and property.
More disturbing is Governor Uba Sani’s disgraceful attempt to deny the abduction while fully aware that families were already counting their missing loved ones. That denial was not a mistake; it was a betrayal. It was a conscious decision to insult the pain of Kurmin Wali, to gaslight an entire community, and to prioritize political optics over human lives. This is not leadership; it is abdication. An APC government that cannot tell the truth in the face of mass abduction has forfeited every claim to credibility, competence, and compassion.
Let it be said clearly and without apology: a government that cannot secure churches, villages, highways, or farms cannot be trusted with the future. Kaduna people must ask themselves hard questions. Can you entrust your children, your families, your livelihoods, and your faith to an administration that normalizes bloodshed and manages insecurity with denial and spin? This catastrophe has a name, and it is called bad governance. The people of Kaduna State deserve better than excuses, better than propaganda, and better than a governor who goes silent when leadership is most required.
We pray fervently for the safe and immediate return of every abducted worshipper. Our hearts stand with Kurmin Wali. But prayers alone are not a security strategy. In 2027, Kaduna must end this cycle of failure. The future demands courage, accountability, and decisive leadership.
Never again should incompetence be rewarded with power. Enough is enough.

I Am a PDP Member for Life – former Vice President Namadi Sambo

Former Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has reaffirmed his unwavering membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he remains a loyal member of the party and will continue to be so throughout his political life. He also pledged his full support for the rebuilding and repositioning efforts of the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC).

Sambo made this declaration while receiving members of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja.

Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of the PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, expressed appreciation to the former Vice President for the sacrifices he, alongside others in the Jonathan administration, made to sustain Nigeria’s democracy, particularly in 2015. He explained that the visit was to brief him on the prospects and challenges facing the party and to seek his support for the party’s rebuilding plans and programmes.

Also speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; Senator Jonah Jang, former Governor of Plateau State; Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information; Hajiya Inna Ciroma, former Minister of Women Affairs; and Hon. Frederick Agbedi, Leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives, jointly expressed optimism about the future of the PDP. They noted that the former Vice President’s support would further strengthen the ongoing efforts to reposition the party ahead of forthcoming elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party continues its nationwide consultative meetings with critical stakeholders as part of its broader strategy to rebuild, strengthen, and reposition the party for the future.

PoliticsCourt Dismisses Sen Samuel Anyanwu's Suit Against PDP by Arafat2022(op): 1:19pm On Jan 20
Breaking News:

Justice M. G. Umar Dismisses Sen. Samuel Anyanwu’s Suit Against PDP.

ABUJA, Nigeria.

Justice M. G. Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has dismissed the case filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu seeking to perpetuate himself in office as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/254/2025 -Sen. Samuel Anyanwu vs. INEC & Ors, the court dismissed Senator's claims regarding his right to the office of the National Secretary of the party. Senator Anyanwu had approached the court seeking an Order of injunction restraining his removal from office following a previous Supreme Court judgment that held that his stay in office is an internalaffair of thr Party, to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting or acting upon any documents or correspondence from the PDP that did not bear his signature.

Reasons for the Ruling:

While the case underwent several procedural shifts, including being transferred from suspended Justice Inyang Ekwo to Justice M. G. Umar, the decision to dismiss the matter was primarily based on the following factors:

• Jurisdiction and Internal Party Affairs:
The court reaffirmed that the Nigerian judiciary consistently maintains that matters concerning the internal leadership and administration of a political party are non-justiciable. This principle, reinforced by recent Supreme Court precedents, dictates that courts should not interfere in how political parties choose their officers.

• Abuse of Court Process:
The court noted the existence of multiple parallel litigations over the same subject matter across various levels of the judiciary, including High Courts, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.

• Effluxion of his tenure of office. The court observed that Sen. Samuel Anyanwu was elected as National Secretary of the party in 2021 and cannot continue in office after the expiration of the term he was elected.

Current Status of PDP Leadership:

Although Senator Anyanwu has fought numerous legal battles to retain his seat, arguing that his term does not expire until December 2025, he was among the high-ranking members expelled from the party during the Ibadan National Convention in November 2025.

The PDP currently recognizes the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC), which was duly elected during the Ibadan National Convention.

Madam Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem,
This message is written with deep concern about the handling of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) case before the Court of Appeal.

The PDP formally requested an accelerated hearing. That request was not rejected, and it was therefore expected that the Court of Appeal would proceed on an accelerated timeline. Instead, the matter has been allowed to drift toward the constitutional maximum of ninety days for appeal cases. As of today, the 17th of January 2025, no hearing date has been fixed, even though the ninety-day period is approaching its end.

This delay has serious consequences. Political careers, public trust, and democratic processes are all directly affected by the timing of this case. Justice delayed, especially when acceleration was requested and not refused, creates the impression of injustice.

Madam, Nigerians stood with you in prayer and sympathy when you suffered the tragic loss of your children. The nation shared your pain, knowing that such loss is beyond words. It is for this reason that many are saddened to see your name now being drawn into controversy. Why should anyone be allowed to stain a reputation that citizens once trusted so deeply? Why should your office appear to permit actions that may destroy the futures of other people’s children?

How can such a critical case remain without a hearing date while lives and careers hang in the balance? Many Nigerians once saw you as one of the few judicial leaders they could rely on. Sadly, with what is happening now, that confidence is being shaken.

Even if the law allows up to ninety days, justice also demands wisdom, urgency, and compassion. When acceleration is requested and not denied, any system guided by conscience would move swiftly to prevent unnecessary damage. Delays of this nature do real harm.

Madam Justice, power in the judiciary is not only about interpreting the law; it is also about protecting lives, futures, and public faith. History, conscience, and God Himself bear witness to every action taken in authority.

Do not allow your name to be counted among those who turned away while injustice grew. Do not allow your legacy to be rewritten by silence and delay.

*Madam Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, do not reduce yourself and become one of them*.

Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu later assassinated Sir Ahmadu Bello and members of his family on 15 January 1966 during Nigeria’s first military coup.

PoliticsHow Two Women Were Killed During Nigerian's First Coup by Arafat2022(op): 7:44pm On Jan 16
The first woman in the pictures is Hajia Hafsat Bello. She was the wife of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto & Premier of the Northern Region.

She took care of many as the wife of the Premier including one Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu who headed the Officers Training College in Kaduna. Nzeogwu was treated like a son by Sardauna.

Hafsat often sent food on special occasions like Sallah to Nzeogwu & his officers. They made them feel at home in Kaduna & took care of them.

Despite that in the early hours of the morning of January 15th 1966, during the execution of Nigeria's first military coup, Nzeogwu went to Sardauna's home & not only killed him but killed Hafsat & Zurumi, the Premier's traditional bodyguard, as well.

Hafsat threw her body on her husband to shield him when she saw them coming whilst Zurumi charged the soldiers with his ceremonoal sword drawn but to no avail. All three of them were killed instantly by Nzeogwu's bullets.

This was after he had shot Sergeant Daramola Oyegoke, one of his own men, who had refused to shoot Sardauna.

The second woman in the picture is Mrs. Lateefat Ademulugen. She was the wife of Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun, Commander of the 1st Division of the Nigerian Army, based in Kaduna.

In the early hours of the morning of January 15th 1966, during the execution of Nigeria's first coup, a group of young soldiers stormed their home and burst into their bedroom which they shared with their two children, Solape and Adegoke.

They were led by Major Timothy Onwuatuegwu, an officer of the Military Training College in Kaduna, who was not only under the direct command of Ademulegun but was also like a son to him & a close family friend who often visited his home.

As they proceeded to shoot Ademulegun, Lateefat, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, pleaded with the young officers to spare her husband & attempted to shield him from them with her body.

Her pleas & that of her children fell on deaf ears as Onwuatuegwu shot both Ademulegun & his wife right in front of their children.

These two women, one from the North & the other the South West, chose to die with their husbands in a florry of bullets rather than live without them.

Such was their love, loyalty, courage & commitment.

They were a pride to womanhood & to Nigeria.

PoliticsDear Pdp Members , Stay In Your Party by Arafat2022(op): 9:09pm On Jan 04
*BREAKING ATTENTION: PDP MEMBERS, STAY IN YOUR PARTY AS YOU ARE MORE SECURE THERE*

Some ADC members have been quick to mock the PDP, claiming it is riddled with crisis and litigation. Unfortunately, a few of our members have bought into this narrative. It is important to separate facts from propaganda.

The only litigation involving the PDP concerns its national convention, and this is a matter the entire country knows the party fully complied with constitutional and legal requirements. That case is already at the Court of Appeal, which means PDP has successfully passed the first-instance stage.

In contrast, all ADC cases are still at the trial court (first-instance) level. Not a single one has received a substantive judgment. Meanwhile, party primaries are fast approaching.

ADC congresses are also imminent, and Nigerians should pay close attention to what various factional groups within ADC are planning.

An ADC member recently claimed that David Mark’s NWC is currently on the INEC portal. While that may be true for now, it takes just one court judgment against David Mark and ADC for those names to be removed. Once that happens, all candidates produced under that leadership automatically become null and void.

The real danger with ADC is that all its cases are stuck at the first-instance level, and we are already in January. Even if judgments are eventually delivered, the timeline for appeals and a possible Supreme Court decision creates serious uncertainty.

PDP members should therefore remain calm and confident. Your party is legally safer and procedurally more secure than ADC.
