Helo people! Finally, I am in the US...came into this great country on Wednesday, the POE at JFK was quite cool and smooth! I was asked basic questions like why are you here? How long are you staying? Then my bags were checked cos I declared I was with food...they collected my egusi- saying I should have grinded it, my chikki chikki noodles was also taken away from me-saying chicken or any product prepared with chicken isn't allowed into the US! In all its been cool...but I am battling with the spring weather! The weather is like permanent AC. I stay in uptown Manhattan and its quite great here...the subway system is really confusing for me, missed my way yesterday ridding from Bronx to queens, thanks to the NYC subway map n google map! Thanks to every one who has been contributing on this thread, I am able to narrate this because of your assistance! Thanks once more to every one! Th 14 Likes |

No one can for sure tell you your chances of getting a visa, the VO decides that based on his discretion. Just be truthful as possible and explain yourself coherently...then the VO will decide whether you qualify or not. Adeosas: |

This is no problem, I noticed mistake in mine after booking an appointment. N:B: you can't make adjustment to an electronically signed and submitted DS160. Here is what I did...I filled a new DS160 form got a new confirmation page and code, discarded the old one where I made mistake. Then proceeded to my profile on the consulate website and changed the DS160 confirmation code, So I printed a fresh appointment letter and DS160 confirmation page. I hope this has been helpful? Here comes my question again... I am travelling to JFK via Qatar airways first week of May on my B1/B2 visa, I am a first time traveller... Please share with me what kind of questions should I expect from the CBP officers at d POE?, do I need to present any document at d POE? If you have travelled with Quatar airways before please share your experience. Thank you all for your anticipated reply...rude or polite is welcomed! |

Let me burst your bubbles...I am just 27, not married, no travel history...but my visa was approved on 10th f april...though I was asked if I was married but d VO dint lay emphasis on it...you guys overrate this marriage thing! I witnessed a number of married ppl being denied...marriage is a good tie but not a determining factor like you make it look Exodus1: 5 Likes |

I am not married, I haven't travelled out of Nigeria before, yet I got the B1/B2 visa...you could present other ties outside marriage In my opinion, I think sincerity of purpose, your composure and being able to present your case truthfully is the key to visit visa Exodus1: |

How will the CBP officer at d POE know that some one paid the flight fee for you? As long as the flight ticket bears your name, I don't think there is any cause for fear. |

Thank you @visaofficer! Your contribution was really helpful! You have helped resolve the conflicts. LadyG, all your advice and contributions have also been very helpful! I got a visa recently, no document was checked, I even forced my guest reservation ticket on the VO but he barely looked into it, I did a lot of research, reading atleast 80% of this thread, going through the US visa n immigration website, watched tutorials and demonstrations on YouTube about US visa interviews, read so many articles online about the visa process and interview! I listened to the interview of a lady who was denied on d 10th, she clearly lacked knowledge of the entire process, d VO even told her that he is confused with her application, that they don't seem to matchup. 2 Likes |

A big thank you to lady G, seyewest and all the other gurus in the house...your contributions have been helpful! Today at the Lagos Consulate was a good day and almost every Window was doling out white paper especially to family people, only on few occasions the blue paper was given out! Fortunately I got the white paper! I have never applied for a visa before now I have never travelled out of Nigeria I am not married and not planning on getting married anytime soon I am just 27 I have No kids... Here is my transcript! Vo:Hello Me: Good morning Vo:Where in the US are you going? Me:New York City VO: why? Me: to attend my brother's graduation ceremony at Columbia University in the city of NY, I may as well seize the opportunity to do sight seeing, feel the architecture of the city so that when I return it will have a positive influence on my style of architecture Vo: are your parents travelling also? Me:No (vo turns and look at me in the eyes, I continued) reason being that my dad is aged and can't make long distance travel and my mum is very busy with her business, so they agreed I represent the family. Vo: what do you do? Me: I am an Architect Vo: what does that mean? Me: I do building designs and supervise the construction of buildings Vo: for how long? Me: 4 years Vo: when is the graduation? Me: may 17, 2017, (then brought out the guest reservation ticket from CU and gave to him, he examined it n returned it to me) Vo: are you married? Me: No, but I have a lovely family here,my parents and 4 other younger siblings Vo: oh, your brother is doing his OPT? Me: yes, he actually works with ports authority of NY n NJ. Vo starts typing, typing typing, then he asked again, your brothers name is xxxxx Me: yes...said the name with his accent Vo: you are Igbo? Me: yes Vo smiles and continue typing then he reached out to the white paper and said your visa has been approved, pick it up at the circled location in 3 working days Me: Thank you! With smiles and joy! NB: all through the interview the VO was looking at his computer, he only made occasional eyes contact, I even felt he wasn't listening to my stories cos I was verbose couldn't keep it brief... Thanks once again to all those that contributed to this thread...I rode to success on your shoulders! Anyone that knows how to get cheap flight to JFK please direct me. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

Good morning house! I am about to apply for B2 visa. I am going to attend my brother's commencement ceremony at Columbia university NY in may 2017. He got a visitors ticket for me from his school, prepared an invitation letter and I have a good account statement. I am an architect, I practice privately with a company name i registered with a colleague. I am not married, not engaged. I have been going through this tread and reading all necessary materials from the internet yet I am scared. Please I implore the house to give me specific advice on my case and please do I need to upload my photo while filling the DS 160 form. |
