AN Ikeja special Offences Court yesterday remanded the proprietor of a ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’ training school in Lagos, Chinedu Frank, in prison custody.
Frank is standing trial before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo over an alleged $20,000 fraud
He is facing a seven-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).
He pleaded not guilty.
EFCC prosecuting counsel, Samuel Daji thereafter asked the court for a trial date.
Justice Taiwo granted his request and adjourned the matter till September 17.
She also ordered the defendant to be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons custody.
Earlier, Daji, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2018 and on May 24, in Lagos.
The EFCC alleged that Frank fraudulently obtained the sum of $20, 000 property of Han-Yong Ja on the representation that he is a United States Army officer stationed in Iraq.
Frank was also alleged to have in his possession several fraudulent documents titled: “3rd Billing Flight; Certificate of Retirement” and ‘Replacement Format”.

Items recovered from them include nine laptops, 16 mobile phones, an Airtel modem, Orange Wifi and one Toyota Camry marked EPE406FN.

PoliticsWho Speaks For The Yoruba In The Killing Fields Of Nigeria Today? (2), By Femi A by arewagist(op): 7:49pm On Jul 10, 2019
Bola Tinubu, Yemi Osinbajo and other APC opportunists can no longer speak for the Yorubas in Nigeria.
President Buhari cares for his people. But although he is president of Nigeria, his people are not the people of Nigeria. His people are the Fulanis in particular, and Northern Nigerians in general. That is the token of a “good politician.” A good politician promotes the interests of his people.
But what happens to members of the president’s party who are neither Fulani nor Northern Nigerians? Can they also care for their people as the president does for his, and at the same time be in alliance with Mr. President?
The evidence suggests they cannot and do not. They have watched in silence, without complaining, as the president filled major posts with his own people and ignored theirs. They have “siddon looked” as the entire security architecture of Nigeria was placed virtually exclusively in the hands of Northerners.
They said nothing when the president illegally appointed his sister’s in-law, Amina Zakari, as acting chairman of INEC, flouting statutory regulations and without the required approval of the National Council of State. Cat caught their tongue when the president illegally appointed Ahmed Lawan Kuru as the managing director of Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) and named its executive directors without requisite Senate confirmation.
They were missing in action when he illegally removed Nigeria’s Southern chief justice of the Supreme Court and replaced him with a Northerner.
Deafening Silence
Men like Bola Tinubu who were loud in calling for the restructuring the Nigerian polity, which is one of the cardinal demands of South, dropped their demand like a hot potato once they entered into an alliance with Buhari. In APC, they are now required to implement programs and policies whose primary objective is to benefit the agenda of the president’s people.
Rotimi Amaechi pitched the idea of building a University of Transportation in Nigeria. He believes, in his own words, that “charity begins at home.” Nevertheless, he claims in this case that his charity “must begin abroad.” The reason is that he is a member of the APC. Therefore, the proposed university has to be based in Daura, President Buhari’s hometown in Katsina State.
This is what happens when you join Buhari’s APC. You deny your interests and rationalize that of Mr. President. Buhari is https://arewagists..com/2019/07/who-speaks-for-yoruba-in-killing-fields.html
PoliticsIt Is Our Newspaper Money That People Call ‘jumbo Pay’ – Senator Adeyeye by arewagist(op): 11:17am On Jul 10, 2019
Spokesperson of the Senate, Dayo Adeyeye, has defended the millions of naira members of the Senate earn, saying that they deserve running costs apart from regular salaries and allowances which are also in millions making them to earn more than the President of United states.
According to Adeyeye, members do not enjoy any “Jumbo pay” contrary to popular belief and Nigerians need more enlightenment about the controversial matter.
Speaking to journalists in Ado, the Ekiti State capital he noted that public officers of lower status get adequate running costs for their duties hence, Senators deserve more for the responsibilities on their shoulders.
“Ordinary clerks have running cost in any organization, why should people believe senators are not entitled to running costs and they attribute that as their salaries, calling it Jumbo pay.
“Senators are entitled to running costs as well, apart from the salary. It is this running cost that people call jumbo pay which is not.
“There are over three thousand staff working for the National Assembly, are they not going to be paid? There’s a National Assembly Service Commission fully populated… (But) You just look at a senator and you say they are the ones sharing Nigeria’s money, No,” he said.
“People don’t appreciate the role of the legislator… that is why no matter how much you pay the legislature, they think it is unjustified.
“They think they don’t earn it which is not the case. But I know that with time, when we begin to engage the Nigerian public and bring them to full Knowledge of the roles of the legislature they will begin to see why the legislators should be given the enablement to perform their roles”.
Christianity EtcWhy God Blesses Sinners By Femi Aribisala by arewagist(op): 5:21pm On Jul 07, 2019
Jeremiah has probing questions for God: “Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy?” (Jeremiah 12:1). Habakkuk also interrogates God: “Why do you fold your hands and do nothing while the wicked oppress the righteous?” Indeed, why are some people blessed while others are troubled?
The common assumption is that we get what we deserve, and our sins are responsible for our pains and sufferings. But often, people suffer because of the sins of others and not because of their own sins. Jesus was not wounded for his own transgressions. He was not bruised for his own iniquities. He suffered because of our sins.
Sin often hurts the guiltless. Many suffer, not because of their sins, but because of those of others. David committed adultery, but it was his innocent child that died. He transgressed by numbering Israel, but it was the Israelites and not David that were killed.
Call To Repentance
The people of Jerusalem came to Jesus and asked him about the Galileans that Pilate massacred. “Did these people die because of their sins?” Jesus sidestepped their question by bringing it nearer home.
“What about the eighteen people here in Jerusalem who died when the tower of Siloam fell on them? Did that calamity happen to them because they were worse sinners than other people in Jerusalem?” The answer is emphatically: “No!” Nevertheless, Jesus insists the same thing would happen to his interrogators if they don’t repent of sin.
But if the tower did not fall on the dead because they were worse sinners than others, why then will others perish if they remain in sin?

PoliticsWe Support The RUGA Scheme 100 Percent by arewagist(op): 5:06pm On Jul 07, 2019
The chairman of the Nasarawa State chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN, Alhaji Mohammad Huseni speaks with GODWIN ENA on the Ruga scheme and its import for the nation.

WHAT is your take on the Federal Government’s plan to establish Ruga settlements in some states of the federation?
We are 100 per cent in support of Ruga settlement, because of the advantages and benefits attached to the scheme are many. Many people don’t know these and that’s why they are crying wolf about the whole issue.

But people have been reading different meanings to the scheme, saying it is an agenda to Fulanise Nigeria…
The Ruga settlement is only meant for the livestock owners and the Federal Government has planned the pilot scheme to see how they can settle the nomadic Fulani in one place to reduce their movement from one place to another. You know that their movements from one place to another usually cause one problem after the other. So, the advantages of Ruga settlement are that it will improve security of lives and properties in the states, because we don’t know the kind of people that enter the country, especially from the neighbouring countries. But when settled in one place there would be security in place and we will be able to ascertain the situation of things on the state of insecurity in the country.more at https://arewagists..com/2019/07/we-support-ruga-scheme-100-percent.html
FamilyConsequences Of Child Sexual Abuse On Psychosocial Wellbeing In Adulthood by arewagist(op): 4:46pm On Jul 07, 2019
Childhood sexual abuse is a very widespread problem that is unfortunately associated with stigma, shame and a tendency to secretly push it under the carpet. Thus, in most instances, it often goes unreported as the family may wish to avoid the societal stigma and public humiliation if it were to become common knowledge.
All of these factors act independently and in tandem to ensure that we hardly ever hear about these cases, though they may be happening right under our noses.
But this culture of silence and secrecy is unhelpful. On the one hand, it results in a situation where perpetrators often go scot-free; they escape sanctions as well as public ridicule and humiliation for their actions.

Whereas, the burden of shame and the emotional turmoil and scars are borne by the young, and innocent survivors (and their families) for the rest of their lives. What are the emotional consequences for such people who have had these experiences? How can we help?

Low self-esteem and confidence
Individuals who have had such experiences often feel they are somehow ‘damaged’ and not like others. Thus, they may suffer from low self-esteem and be lacking in self-confidence. Or they may constantly feel weak and vulnerable.
Such perceptions are wrong and should be countered. The reality is that they are ‘survivors’ who have every reason to hold more at https://arewagists..com/2019/07/consequences-of-child-sexual-abuse-on.html
SportsAFCON 2019: Egypt Sacks Coach by arewagist(op): 4:19pm On Jul 07, 2019
Egyptian coach Javier Aguirre, has become the first casualty of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He was sacked just hours after the hosts were bundled out of the tournament by South Africa in the round of 16 on Saturday in Cairo.
Hosts Egypt lost 0-1 after an 85th minute goal from Thembinkosi Lorch.
It was for Egypt a lacklustre display in which their talisman Mohamed Salah looked out of sorts and they produced few goalscoring chances.
Egypt Football Association president Hany Abo Rida announced the firing of the Mexican coach.
Abo Rida also announced his own resignation, less than three hours after the game as a stunned host nation digested the defeat.
He also called on his board members to step down, calling his resignation a “moral obligation, although the football association had given the national team full material and moral support”.
Aguirre had told reporters after Saturday’s defeat that he took sole responsibility but was proud of all of his players.

PoliticsBefore You Cede S/west Land, Remember What Happened To Afonja —gani Adams by arewagist(op): 3:56pm On Jul 07, 2019
Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, speaks on issues of national interest, especially the controversial establishment of Ruga settlements across the country, in this interview with BOLA BADMUS. Excerpts:

THIS issue of suspended Ruga settlement threatened the country and polarised the polity. What is your own view of the programme as initially planned by the Federal Government?
The plan to establish Ruga settlement was a result of trying to revisit the jidadist agenda that was started in 1804. We didn’t see the policy as a way to settle the crisis of herdsmen. We saw it as a dangerous trend that was coming to our abode in the South-West.
And we saw it as a way of imposing on us those who had been threatening our lives and properties. We called on the whole world that we didn’t want Ruga settlements policy at all.
If they were settling the herdsmen who deal in cows, what about the people who deal in piggery? What about the farmers who deal in livestock like chicken and farmers who deal in various other animals? Why is the Federal Government laying emphasis only on those who deal in cows?
As a matter of fact, the issue of ranches is private. The Federal Government does not have business involving itself in it or even using our resources to build communities for them.
Before the issue of these criminal Fulani herdsmen who are maiming, killing, raping, kidnapping our people, destroying their farms, burning them and collecting money from them, we had had some Fulani living in Yorubaland and they were living in peace and harmony. Nobody documented the lands given to them; they were being given lands by our royal fathers or landowners in the community, based on relationships, not by allowing a state government to give them 31 hectares of land on the basis of issuing documents to them and processing certificates of occupancy (CofO).
Now, should they succeed in doing that, as contemplated by the Federal Government, they would now install an emir on that land. Our memory is still refreshed about what happened between 1818 and 1824 when some Fulani came to Ilorin as Islamic scholars. In the process of settling down, Afonja was killed in 1884. That was how we lost the leadership of Ilorin. The same thing happened elsewhere.
Though people were not killed in Lokoja, systematically, the Yoruba, the Oworo who founded Lokojo, now called Lokoja, are not on their original land; the land has been taken over and the prominent traditional ruler of Lokoja now is an emir. The Oworo are now living in the hills of Lokoja. We don’t want to repeat the past mistake and we have communicated to our royal fathers; we have communicated to our governors who are the chief security officers of every state in the South-West; that in Yorubaland, history is very important. You should not cause a repeat of the problem we had in some of our towns in Yorubaland. The problem should not reccur.
Yoruba people had never wanted Ruga. It is unwarranted, needless and a dangerous policy. It is a policy that can break this nation, just as it has overheated the polity.
Four main zones in Nigeria, Middle-Belt, South-West, South-East and the South-South kicked against it. We said we didn’t want Ruga as a policy for settlement.

People said in a situation like this, consultations ought to have been the first approach. Why would you think the Federal Government never consulted before this kind of decision was taken?
Even if there was dialogue, nobody more at https://arewagists..com/2019/07/before-you-cede-swest-land-remember.html

PoliticsThe Good Herdsmen By Gabriel Amalu by arewagist(op): 1:03pm On Jul 03, 2019
As the battle rage over the proposed RUGA settlements, it is interesting to note that the father of faith, Abraham owned herds, and back then there were clashes over grazing rights. According to the book of Genesis 13:7, “there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock.” Why? Verse six says: “Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possession was so great that they could not dwell together.”
At the bottom of the herdsmen-farmers’ clashes that have led to inter-ethnic crisis in the country is access to land. To solve the problem between him and Lot, Abram proposed in verse eight: “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brethren.” He went on: “Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”

PoliticsRUGA Implementation Will Destroy Nigeria by arewagist(op): 10:08am On Jul 02, 2019
The immediate past representative of Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency , at the House of Representatives, Linus Okorie, has called on political, natural, religious and opinion leaders to join hands and advise President Mohammadu Buhari to abandon the Ruga policy that would propel a national crisis and instability.
Okorie, who maintained that the leaders owe the nation urgent duty to speak up on this matter noted that forceful implementation of Ruga would certainly explode crisis in the country.
He disclosed this to newsmen in Abakaliki while declaring support for the comprehensive reform of the nomadic culture and economics, including any stimulus to accelerate their trade.
He, however, advocate that the federal government should implement ranching which according to him remains the only solution instead with incentives to address inherent fears and capacity gaps of the herders and would-be investors.
Meanwhile, Okorie, warned South East and South South Governor’s never to yield their land for Ruga, stating that anyone who fails to protect their land and gives land for Ruga will never recover from its negative effects even after office and this is no rocket science.
His words: “The FG should package an appropriate ranching stimulus and economics to drive that dormant goldmine. But it’s a no no to Ruga. And this has nothing to do with politics and President Muhammadu Buhari. It’s about economics, it’s about national stability and security. It about not creating more problems trying to solve one.”

According to the opposition party, ”We have received credible information that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is under intense pressure to tamper with election materials used for the conduct of governorship elections on 9th March, 2019 in the State.

FamilyReasons Why You Must Keep Your Marriage Private by arewagist(op): 9:51am On Jun 30, 2019
An adage state: “Relationships last longer when nobody knows nothing about it”.
Relationship is sometimes a reserved place where two people could find solace, trust and support, driven by a commitment to honour, love, and respect.
Marriages require a few essential elements to maintain. At the top of the list is privacy.
Getting married is one thing, sustaining the marriage is another. In times past, people were very quick to allow others meddle into issues affecting their families, especially when it involves one of the spouses.
While this, in some cases, has its benefits, one of which includes seeing things from another party’s perspective. However, there are a lot of times when extra people were brought into family affairs, and things don’t go in the best direction.
Given that not everyone actually is happy that you are happy and they are looking for opportunity to spoil the happiness.
Therefore, these are seven reasons you should keep your marriage private.
1. You Open Yourself To Negative Opinions:
Most times when we vent and go about expressing our anger and displeasure about our spouse, we often talk mostly about the partner’s faults and not ours. Also, most times we usually relay these complaints to people close to us, probably our friends or a family member we are close to.
It is likely for that family member of yours to take you side and God help you the person you reported your spouse to dislikes your spouse. This will be the perfect opportunity to “badmouth” your spouse. Hence, you are usually more open to negative opinions when you go outside of your marriage to resolve issues.
2. You can filter pictures, not your relationship:
The evolution of social media has only increased our lust for recognition and makes it easier to get. However, becoming intoxicated by the attention of others is dangerous for your relationship. The issue arises when a couple is more in love with the glamour of having a social media relationship than an actual bond.
Keeping your relationship private keeps your motivations pure. You want to make sure that every day you decide to move forward in your relationship you are doing so because you couldn’t imagine a life without your partner, not because you are addicted to the false approval of social media viewers. That’s the relationship goals.
3. It gives the chance for your ex to be in your business:
The only worse than a third party being in your marriage is allowing your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend it could jeopardize the marriage, if the marriage doesn’t have a strong bond. Hell bent and determined to poke holes in your new love affair. Disclosing too much to your ex can leave the relationship vulnerable. “Be wise”.
4. Everyone won’t be happy for you:
There are some people so distraught with their own lives and will go out of their way to ruin other people’s happiness. The bitter truth is, not everyone wants to see you move forward, and certainly not happy. Sad, yes but true.
This is why you should be careful about expressing your complaints to third parties. The less people know about your personal life, the less they have to speak on.
5. It can displease your spouse:
Most of our spouse’s doesn’t like the idea of allowing third party in the marriage so any time you share problems with others, it can displease the spouse and even become embarrassing.
It can damage their image in front of others and while you and your spouse have moved more at https://arewagists..com/2019/06/reasons-why-you-must-keep-your-marriage.html
