Politics / Association of Nigerian Young Health Information Management Professionals by ARIMBA(f): 4:16pm On Dec 11, 2021 |
Nigerian Young Health Information Management Professionals (NYHIMP) first physical meeting which was organized from 04th - 06th December 2020 held at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Tudu Wada Zaria, Kaduna State. Professional colleagues arrived at the venue of the meeting on the 04th December 2020. The host (Comrade Saka Taofik Olayinka) warmly welcomed other professional colleagues from another precinct with full hospitality (both lodging and feeding). The meeting started on the 5th December 2020 (Time: 10:00hrs to 15:00hrs) with an opening prayer was said by (Comrade Dauda, Musa Banga). OPENING REMARK The meeting started with an outstanding welcome address delivered by a senior professional colleague/chairman (Comrade Adebisi Abdullateef) of the Nigerian Young Health Information Management Professionals (NYHIMP) He welcomed all comrade members to Nigerian Young Health Information Management Professionals (NYHIMP) earliest physical meeting held in Kaduna State. He acclaims the Nigerian Young Health Information Management Professionals (NYHIMP) earliest physical meeting as “Family-Meeting”. Because if it’s not a family meeting, we can’t take all the risks, our times and sacrifice to be present for the meeting. He also said this forum is created to have an unimaginable change in our noble and choosing profession or career. he stated that we are supposed to be more than these, but due to one reason or the other, some are unable to make it to the meeting. Comrades present quickly discussed some issues that we believe will rebrand everybody's mind. We pray that Almighty God will lead us aright and also pray any issues discussed will not be for personal benefits, but rather for the benefits of the entire profession globally. WORKING PAMPHLETS (CONSTITUTION): - The first agenda is on working documents. The chairman stated that all comrades were supposed to be acquainted with the working documents. Therefore, copies were produced and shared with the members, it was read together. It was again worked on and finalized to be used as the working document of the forum. This exercise was done because an adage said: “Somebody that will dance outside, need to dance inside and practice very well, before going outside to dance. Before people will start mocking them, that they are not good at dancing “ That was the way members saw themselves during the meeting. All comrades cross-checked the working documents with an open mind and resolved as stated earlier. ACTING EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (REPRESENTATIVES) All comrades present to recommend, nominate, and encourage the acting executive council to put in their efforts and sacrifice. Again, all members were encouraged to support AEC and take the work as if is their full responsibility in other to support the AEC. Below are the acting EC which will be dissolved as soon as the proper election is conducted. Below are the names nominated and a few EC positions extracted from Working Documents. Acting President Comrade Saka Taofik Olayinka Acting Secretary General Comrade Abubakar Muhammed Bashir Acting Publicity Secretary Comrade Dauda Musa Banga Acting Treasurer Comrade Nafisa Bulama Note that, only a few of the positions were given because of the number of people present at the meeting and also because of the work that should be done immediately. WAY-FORWARDS (MODE OF OPERATION): - Agreed on Telegram Platform creation to accommodate and add more members Grooming of Students (tutorial) especially before national examinations Active Whats-App group need to be created to add to the current group All young members of the profession need to be added to the platform Moving from one state to the other to encourage and enlighten other young members. CHALLENGES AHEAD OF US: - We prayed that all the possible challenges we may face, May Almighty God be in control. As all comrades agreed earlier from the virtual meeting. CONCLUSION: - We honour all comrades present and other comrades, for their vast sacrifices and efforts made and challenges faced during their journey. We wish everyone that: May God Rewards, Bless and continue to strengthen your efforts. Amin. We prayed for one of us, Comrade Nafiu Musa who had an accident on his way coming, and we tried to call him but his number was switch-off. We prayed for his recovery and sound health. The closing prayer was made by a comrade. SIGNED Abubakar Muhammed Bashir (Acting Gen. Sec.) For: Acting President.

Career / How To Make A Smart Career by ARIMBA(f): 1:51pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Decision making could be tough for a number of people especially teenagers. Most teenagers are faced with making decisions at the secondary school level on which class to join like Science class, Art class or the Commercial class. Some have the difficulty of choice making while others have such decisions already made by their parents, yet still others naturally falls into one class or the other based on their intelligence or natural tendencies. However we have a few who have difficulty with decision making at this level. The next phase of decision making is after secondary school, youths need to decide which tertiary institution to attend and course to choose. Many at this level are careless enough to follow the decisions of their friends, some fall into the category of not meeting the required cut-off point for their desired course and have to settle for another course, some opt for Polytechnics and colleges of Education. This post aims to give an eye opener to youths in order to make wise career decisions. Important questions to guide teenagers while choosing course of study includes Can I practice alone or be an entrepreneur from this course of study? Can I get a good job easily with this course? Are they in high demand? Is the wage structure good and attractive? Is this field protected by a Union or board? Presently, the salary structure for some professions is better than other professions. People fall into different categories. High paying Jobs Middle class jobs Low paying jobs One sector I know and I am sure is a high paying job all over the world is the medical career. I suggest young people delve into any of the professional courses in the health sector and partake in the high pay. Asides this, most of these health professions can be practiced alone. Many people who work in federal and state ministries who find themselves in other sectors decides to go back to school to study an health related course so as to benefit from the fat salary scale of the sector. A class of tertiary institution seemingly underrated, with easy access of admission is the College of Health Technologies. There are a good number of colleges of health both government-owned and private owned that are dispersed all around the country. It is advisable that science students take advantage of them to study one of the health courses like Community Health Extension Worker, Health Information Management, Environmental Health Technology or Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Health Technician/ Technology or Therapist, Medical Laboratory Technician. One good thing about these courses is that all are protected by good regulation Boards and Union that protects the interest of their members. These Boards set, maintain and uphold training standards and ensure that they get the best in terms of income for their members from the government. Take for instance: your friend decided he MUST attend the university. He went ahead to study just any course offered him all in the name of ‘I MUST GO TO THE UNIVERSITY’ and he later became a graduate. Another person decided to opt for one of the colleges of health technology, for instance Health Information Management or community health, he got a job not long after completion of his course and settled on time. Whereas, the other university graduate after completion of the mandatory national youth service returned to seek a job. Present statistics worldwide shows that there is need for more health workers in order to buffer the expertise scarcity and to reduce the rate at which some preventable/ treatable diseases cause mortality. This is the reason why it’s easier worldwide today for a trained health worker to get a job faster than people from other courses. My advice for youths is to make informed decisions and not flow with the tide of following other people’s steps and end up in a rut. It is better to listen to the counsel of people ahead of you in order to avoid pitfalls. Above all, God’s plan and timetable for every man differs. Pray to God and seek for his counsel and guidance. He will point to you what to do and where to go. In all your ways acknowledge God and He shall direct your path. I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men
