Obasanjo, Jonathan, Buhari and the next president.
The Certificate of Independence was a lie. So you believe the Brits have a hand in everything that happens in this country? You must be a conspiracy theorist. We are our own problem. If we can't do away with the quota system that brings stupid people to power because of their tribes, we won't move forward as a nation. |

Politics › Re: How A Dot In The Circle Conquered The Arab World In Six Days. by Arkmanbuddy(m): 7:40am On Jun 11, 2021 |
The Israel example is wrong. Israel was never a dot in the circle ab initio. The state of Israel had support from the US and even the British who colonized Palestine. Also, the fact that Saudi Arabia was a friend of the US didn't bring about an overall unity in the Arab world against the Israelis.
The Igbos, on the other hand, were part of the Nigerian union. The only thing that could stop any arms deal with any foreign supporter was the change of currency, and stopping the movement of food to the region. No one could do that with Israel as they were not part of any country. |

Alusiizizi: Yes, gyroscopes, (AKA "fly by wire" ). Also I agree with you on the future of materials development (How do we spell "nano-tubes" ), but I'm not sure about that 1000rpm though. Helicopter blades rotate at about 4 times that speed if I recall correctly and their surface area has to be that large to produce enough lifting force. Something as small as what I think you have in mind will need angular velocities in the neighborhood of 15,000rpm. It might be more sensible to adopt a jet engine, I'm afraid. Adopting a jet engine would eliminate the thought of having flying cars that could lift off vertically. You're right about the angular velocity of the rotors...but we're talking about four rotors placed at the four edges of the car for balance: 2 in front and 2 at the back. I believe if high velocities of the rotors are achieved, this can be possible. Jet engine could then be initiated in-flight if the driver wants it. Pleasure having an intellectual discuss with you, bro. It gladdens my heart. |

Car Talk › Re: Flying Cars Are Now Imminent As Researchers Finally Hit A Major Breakthrough by Arkmanbuddy(m): 10:56pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
Alusiizizi: I knew someone would bring up helicopters. In fact helicopters also work by Bernoulli principle. Those blades are nothing more than smaller aerofoils. Their blades have to spin very fast in order to make up for the somewhat reduced surface area, which brings up another issue involved with "miniaturizing" the flying cars in order to look more like cars than planes. Safety. In order to make those air ducts powerful enough to lift a standard vehicle and at the same time compact enough to make the design look "cool", their blades will need to be spinning with an extremely high angular velocity, and this will bring up issues relating to design material, rotor housing and such that can very quickly increase the weight of the vehicle, possibly making the whole thing impractical, not even accounting for the engine that will have to drive those rotors. Then there's the issue of stability. The large profile of planes and helicopters help to make the vehicle relatively more stable due to the forces being distributed over a larger profile, this convenience will be mostly absent in the more compact flying car and probably a good deal of fly by wire control will need to be integrated into the vehicle. Conclusion: I don't see a compact flying car coming into the general market for at least another 20 years. Sure a gyroscope could do the job of stabilizing the car. Instead of one large rotor, there could be 4 medium sized hidden rotors with large enough airducts for proper lift. Also, do not underestimate the human mind. There'll be materials that can be used as rotors due to their lightweight. Four rotors moving at least 1000rpm should be enough to lift a 10ton vehicle off the ground. |

Alusiizizi: As long as the car can fly because of the Bernoulli principle, this is not possible. One would always need an aerofoil with enough surface area just to lift the vehicle. That's not true, how do copters lift? The design could partially conceal the main rotor with enough inlet of air to allow for lift to take place. Then in mid air, the shape changes, the tyres are retracted to allow for a jet propulsion. I'm still thinking of tye design. I know it's possible to lift without having the full 'components' of a plane. |

CaptainFM1: Sweden already have a charge on the go system. The road is electrified for charging moving vehicles and the owner is auto debited for the charging. There are other systems being researched all round the world. How they will auto charge a flying vehicle in the air is what I don't know yet. But I trust scientist & technologist to come up with answers.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/environment/2018/apr/12/worlds-first-electrified-road-for-charging-vehicles-opens-in-sweden Electrifying roads is never going to be accepted by all as it poses more dangers than than any problem it's built to solve. The only way I feel moving vehicles could be charged apart from solar is by piezoelectricity! The tyres have to be made with a material that produces electricity as they move. In the case of a self charging flying car, a 'hidden' rotor could be used to produce the charge, more of a small turbine system. These are just some of my ideas, anyway. |

Eazi1: Well, you're right, but the set back was not charging quick, lithium-ions batters hold longer than lithium-polymer, but the set backs are: 1. Its bigger than li-po.. that's the reason most smart phone contains polymer battery 2. Slower in charging too... the same reason smartphone use lipo and your 5000mah can be full in just 1hr 15min. talking bout correct devices, not itel and co. Absolutely right. My take is focus has to be shifted from lithium batteries and research should be on other sources or materials that would have all the advantages you listed and be best not just for flying cars, but electric cars generally. Also, we should think about having self charging vehicles: charging on-the-go with solar which would reduce our dependence on chargers and storage. |

Not just battery development but also the overall design of the car of the future. No flying car should look like a drone or a small seaplane on land. A flying car should look like a car on land, and could change shape in flight. |
