Igbo don't hate the north or SW or anyone for that matter. They invest in those regions, they embraced the SW by voting OBJ against Ekwueme and embraced the north by voting Yar adua against their own. Who have embraced them? Na only Igbo people sabi embrace others? I dey laugh. The mistake they made is thinking Igbo man cannot go for Biafra because he has invested in other regions. Buhari the ethnic chauvinist divided the country he wants to govern with his utterances. He will reap the fruits in FULL MEASURE. By the time 60 million intelligent and resilient Biafrans world over are through with the zoo. It will never remain the same. |

Some people go just faint. Biafrans are moving. They are waiting for no man. Op please arrange it well. Let me help.
The Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS), an international governmental organization that promotes self-determination and the end to colonial era boundaries in Africa has outlined reasons why there should a snap referendum for Biafra Republic. OEAS noted that if there is a secession, all “Property of the federal government within the borders of Biafra will become property of Biafra.
The Nigerian government however will retain all national debt. Biafra will then release the Nigerian government from any obligation to pay reparations for crimes committed during the war of independence 1967-1970.” OEAS noted that as of today the people of Biafra are locked in an epic struggle with the Nigerian federal government, the inevitable result of which will likely be some form of self-determination for Biafra. The OEAS wants a snap referendum to be held within 90 days with OEAS, UNPO, and UN, EU and AU nonaligned observers supervising the balloting process. Various effected groups and individuals have asked for details which OEAS can now provide.
Why a Snap Referendum? The people of Biafra have waited almost 50 years to legitimize their choice. There is no need to prolong the process. A lengthy delay will no doubt result in violence and bloodshed as out of the area ruffians and intimidators come into the region to try to unlawfully influence results.
Who will be eligible to vote in the Referendum? All persons living within the confines of the borders of the former Republic of Biafra as of January 1, 2016 will be eligible to vote. In addition, persons living outside the borders who can demonstrate significant ties to Biafra by family or property may choose to vote as well.
What are the choices? A. For total independence and the restoration of the Republic of Biafra as a sovereign independent nation.
B. For internal self-rule as an autonomous Biafra republic with its own parliament, currency, police and prime minister but with external affairs and other matters handled by the Nigerian federal government. This would be an arrangement similar to Scotland and the United Kingdom or Greenland and Denmark. C. For no change.
How many votes are required? Whatever option above gets a plurality will be the chosen result. If we choose an independent Biafra, what then? After an orderly transition period of no more than 180 days, Biafra will again be independent. Those who wish to maintain their Nigerian citizenship may do so but will be under Biafran rule and must affirmatively register themselves as aliens. Likewise, those outside Biafra with ties to Biafra may become Biafran citizens after renouncing Nigerian citizenship.
What about former federal government property? Property of the federal government within the borders of Biafra will become property of Biafra. The Nigerian government however will retain all national debt. Biafra will then release the Nigerian government from any obligation to pay reparations for crimes committed during the war of independence 1967-1970.
What about the borders? The borders with Nigeria must be settled by the time of independence in order to avoid disorder and discord. On the other hand, Biafra should not be obligated to follow any agreements between Cameroun and Nigeria, any loss of territory must be subject to a democratic referendum.
Is all this really possible? We answer emphatically is yes. The people of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea made their choice to leave Ukraine under far more stressful circumstances. The vote was so overwhelmingly in favor that no country has seriously challenged the will of the people.
Finally, what about those criminals who have oppressed Biafrans and committed crimes and atrocities against the people of Biafra?
A Truth and Reconciliation Commission composed of Biafrans and other experts will establish the truth and investigate political and genocidal crimes from 1967 to present. The Committee will have the power to grant clemency and forgiveness but also may make recommendations as to prosecution in the most serious cases of crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. |

mapet: @Eddygourdo,
I applaud this initiative of yours. Let me lay on ground some suggestion........
About 6 years ago, leaders of thought in the South West (Governors, Industry Captains, Religious Leaders, Politicians, Activist groups, Traditional grounds and other interest groups) converged at Grandview Plaza in Magodo Lagos with a sole purpose - SW REGIONAL INTEGRATION. A body was created called Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission http://dawncommission.org/, a development body aimed at fostering regional integration agenda of the States of Western Nigeria, comprising Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo States. The sole aim was for the six South West states to chart an Soci-Political and Economic path for themselve into the future. Some of the outcomes of that meet was the formation of strategic teams to look into and profer the strategic plans on the way forward, namely
1. Increase in spate of development and support across these regions. "The governments of the Southwest regional States of Nigeria-Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo agree and are committed to a common set of development strategies across all spheres of existence i.e. economic, technological, social, educational, human capital for the Region and its indigenes. " 2. Rapid Infrastructural development - e.g. A South-West joint investment in Rail lines that connects the 6 states, hence accelerates movement of people and goods 3. Increased open access to trade.. 4. Special emphasis on Agri-Business...... 5. and more
Some relevant links 1. http://www.osundefender.org/?tag=south-west-regional-integration-coming-together-to-surpass-awos-legacy 2. https://www.facebook.com/TheYorubaPeople/posts/285767788195883 3. http://nigeriapoliticsonline.com/southwest-regional-integration-agenda-is-not-political-famakinwa/ 4. http://thenationonlineng.net/regional-integration-should-be-devoid-of-politics-south-west-leaders/
In the strategy document, the Yorubas had taken a thorough self assessment and have identified their strengths and weakness. Recomendations have been made to states, especially in areas of their competitive strengths.
This I suggest is what the South Eastern states can also do. It is not rocket science...........and the secret is that, at a time in the future when we all cannot but accept the necessity and practicality of regional autonomy, the south west hopes to arrive as a very viable and immensely wealthy region, having viable commercial and prosperous activities (Commerce, Banking, Telecoms, Trade, Oil and Gas, Agric, Entertainment, Education, Technology...name it) But can't yorubas stay on their own without this regional crap you keep mouthing Why does outright peaceful dissolution scare you yorubas even more than the fulas? Are you guys this weak? PLEASE MAKE THE WORLD UNDERSTAND WHY YOU CAN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT NIGERIA. |

TonyeBarcanista: There will be referendum because you want it or what? Ethnic nationalities in the SS since 1967 have said NO TO BIAFRA. They've said it at every fora and some lost their lives in the process(eg Boro). So what referendum do you need or who will force it? Perhaps there should also be Biafran referendum in Ibadan, Osogbo, kano, Borno, Zamfara etc. Bros, like I said, you will be surprised with the popular acceptance Biafra will get if you guys stop the attach SS by force in your map. Personally, I wish you guys well in the agitation but SS is not a party to it.
Even if Oil fall to One Kobo, it still won't change our position... Beside, we have gas You are not going to have an inch, not even a centimeter of Igboland in the so called SS. Anioma people have made it very clear and i know you know this, ObIgbo people and other indigenous Igbos have said the same. So back off. Your awusa fulani created SS includes Igboland in anioma and rivers, any attempt to encroach from your creeks into their lands will be met with brute force. God bless the republic of Ijawland, God bless Biafra. cc: Ikechu, onenaira,Euro31, |

obailala: Nothing is impossible, but some targets are more easily achievable than others. Now which do you think is an easier and a more achievable target?... 1. A return of the regionalism (50% resource control) which Nigeria practised before the war 2. Secession of the SE + SS (assuming the SS would agree to go away with the SE)
Just like it has been rightly pointed out by several great minds, cooperation is the only way forward. With the sheer multitude of people who have come out to protest for secession, just imagine if the subject of those protests was redefined to suit the desires of both the SS and SW (regionalism)?... The entire southern Nigeria would be agog and when Nigeria is held to a standstill, 2/3rd majority or not, regionalism can definitely be achieved.
For any major cause to be achieved, regional cooperation is the key and some compromises have to be made. Unfortunately, the SE believes it can do it alone, a lot of pro-seccesionists today even erroneously assume that the SS is interested in leaving Nigeria with the SE and have without due consultations or permission, forced the SS into the Biafran map. How some people arrive at such conclusions is a mystery to be discussed another day. This one is banking on the SW support, with all their muslims licking northern as$ses. Alhaji Akintola the Sultan's boy must be laughing at your foolery. |

Olabestonic001: I'm Yoruba but with much interest in the Igbo's cause. I support a thorough planning with the pros and cons spelt out before executions. The intellects among Igbos must hijack the Biafra from those who seems to be too angry to think. I want the intellects to first analyze the stuffs around it. Anger and emotions does not win a cause; proper planning does. IPOB seems to be filled with angry people that have been filled with the feeling of getting to a state of utopia and some gullible people who are just sympathetic to their cause. I want them to go back to the drawing board and do the following: (a) Discourage the Igbo's from worshiping money and having premium on honor and respects rather than the amount you have in your pocket. (b) Encourage more youths to do stay and develop their regions. Its no good always exporting your human resources to other climes and only coming home once or twice a year to show everyone how rich you've become. That causes a great sense of mundaness. (c) The Igbo's needs to think less about Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba's, but think more about Igbo. Most Igbo's I know are too insecure (even though they are extremely capable individuals). While I can say the Civil war had its toll on some people's psyche, they need to know that their destiny is in their hands and no tribe can hold them down; they can prosper. (d) They must learn that life is all about politics and not that throwing of emotions all around. Too much emotions ruins even the best cause. Let them stop being clannish and mobbish. A thing needs to be assessed by its inherent properties than 'where' it comes from. Also, allowing an alternate view is something they must work on greatly. (e) With the development in their region, they must know that Yoruba's, Niger Deltans, Middlebelt are all tired of the type of federalism we are practicing and would join for same clamor for regional autonomy/dissolution of Nigeria. The Fulani herdsmen are a menace to Jos and Middlebelt as a whole, the Yoruba's wants regional autonomy, the South-South wants regional control but it seems proponents of this Biafra wants to annex SS and force a kingdom on them. What MOU have they signed? have they sold the whole new agitations for the elders in Igbo land? For those who are clamoring that their elders be overlooked, I daresay they are really getting it all wrong. While an older man lives in memory, a younger man lives in expectation. An elder has 'seen it all' and you cant just rubbish such a person. Any company cannot make a vibrant young man lacking in experience as her CEO (NO MATTER HIS ENTHUSIASM); he must learn the politics and realities from the elder ones.
I see two things happening to this IPOB bandwagon (I see it more as a bandwagon): Either the whole agitation goes down in the next 1 year as subsidy protests, BringBackOurGirl protest etc or it metamorphoses into a militant group that will be more of a headache to the region than a blessing. So you had all these profound wisdom but yet can't feed your people in yorubaland. Can you tell us why you don't want to stay on your own? Why are you yorubers afraid of dissolution even more than Fulanis. Maybe my picture says it all, no oil, plenty hunger

There must always be a peaceful means to an end, can you tell me a peaceful solution to federalism or seccesion I ask you to stay on your own while i stay on mine, that means i am stepping on your toes? Eddygourdo: You have all spoken well, but let's look at issues objectively, even the south isn't ready as it is for true federalism, if we implemented that today, many regions will become unsustainable, a northern once posed an argument, that since groundnut money was used to develop and explore for oil, then if true federalism is proposed there must be a time gap to allow oil money to be used to develop agricultural potentials in the north to support them in the event of implementation. Now that analogy made sense to him, but something in it made sense to me, only a fool tests the depth of a river by jumping into it, this is why I am and have never been an ipob agitator because I prefer to plan first, analyse risks and come up with acceptable benefits before embarking on an endeavour. This is synonymous to testing the waters with one foot first, what I am saying is that, even before federalism or no federalism the peoples of each region are supposed to be equipped with concrete sustainability initiatives first, where such initiatives would be financed through the methods we are currently running, and after a period of time we may now propose true federalism or seccesion of states. This thread is meant to propose concrete plans on sustainable initiatives in the south East, that would make true federalism or seccesion a supporting factor to its growth and development Tell that Abokki that whatever money oil people owed groundnut people have been repaid back to groundnut people a 100 folds. How many years did 50% of his groundnut feed the centere and but today he has been drinking more than 87%of other people's oil for more than 40 years. |

AZeD1: You don't need policies you need political will. Lagos decided the Apapa wharf is crowded and they decided to build one at Lekki same thing with building an airport. This is one of the reasons why I think the Biafran apologist are jokers. What stops the states in the SE and SS from pulling funds together to build a functional seaport and airport? Even if you pull all the funds in heaven and earth, if the Federal Senate and HOR do not approve of it you are wasting your time. That's why interstate roads are called.Federal road. The Abokkis are majority in those chambers and will simply connive with sw senators who wouldn't like lagos ports to lose it's 'monopoly' status. The Biafrans have come to understand these issues, that's why we think you are the biggest joker for thinking Biafrans are jokers. |
