i totally agree with you, most clients just want magic out of the designer with even wanting to give the detailed briefing they ought to and that on their part, they are ready to criticize whatever you present to them as long as it does not suit them, are we magicians?

as for me, my own view about this whole deal is dt there is this distinctness between us and them and i really dont know where it is coming from, if u check deeply u will see wht i'm talking about, for instant, why is dt when u see a design u can easily determine dt dis job is done in nigeria or dis job is done outside the country, there is dis touch dt makes it just unique and what could dt be? ordinarily, if u are into books, u can easily predict if d book is foreign or homemade, ranging from the design, to d print quality, to the paper quality and the rest,

lets go outside graphics, other professions too, we see it too, the foreign contractors give u the best buildings compared to our naija guys even even the building is done in naija here (on our own soil), hollywood another tale, america started building dt studio form d scratch, even technology neva make am, dt means they were once in a stage we are now, dt is d technology we are using presently, but are we getting d same results?

yes the talent is there, the skills are brushing up. but for me the last ingredient is missing, dt flavor is not just there, dts wht makes d distinction.

Dude, my i asvice for u is this, u ve what you need to start with, no. 1, size of d sign board which u stated as (30x40in) and also u ve a knowledge of a graphic software u could use but here lies the issues, i dont knw ur d level of ur knowledge in photoshop but if u a certain and u re sure dt if u do a design u wil be pleased with it and it will be up to standard to attract more business all u need do is go ahead and and do d desin on ur computer (open a new doc. in photoshop and specify the size in inches with resolution at 300) and den go ahead with ur design to suit ur taste but if ur skills in photoshop is even scaring you, i guess u ve to look for someone who is a very good graphic artist, let him do d design then you take d design in soft copy to a very good digital printing house, then u ve ur sign board. but one thing still remains, which is d stand or base for d bill board, dt is d work of a welder, approach a welder tell him d size and tell him dt its a digital sign board and dt u ve d desogn already, hope u ve d answers u ve been looking for,

i think i feel u kemji, i ve said it in one of my post somewhere we should learn to constructively criticize so as to encourage the artist and also help him improve, maybe be the so-called professionals should really wake up to this or one day you just come in and see you are the only one logged on to this section, i ve seen it happen in a forum like this before,

i guess its a fotoshop job and d concept was suppose to be stitches on a clothing kind of, my own observation is dt u should have allowed more spaces between the stitches and also d green for d stitches is kinda of too dark so for ur letters in 'naija' d looked to knitted together but u notice dt for 'd' and 'core' they ve adequate spaces, in general, very good job, nice concept, i have one in stock like dt,

lookin from anoda point of view at ur post @Segevu, i think there is some 'true talk' in it, so depending on how we all take it, out there, there is CRAZY competition so what i think he is saying is dt we need to 'step up' our games so so many stuffs can come up too,

@graphics palace, i think all comments ve been made already just want to chip in this, if u feel the org. color is red maybe u should playing around with different shades of red, the one presently there right now is just too bight dts why its not complimenting the background, really, i agree with u dt gray and red is not a bad combo of color, because i ve done jobs with dt comboo b4 and had good results, its just a mata of u selcting d right gray and the right red

@All, i think we all should not be eager to criticize, its not a bad to to let someone know where he has made mistake and let him know d correction to it, the bad tin is when u re not doin it rite, no mata how wack a job is one needs a little bit of appreciation first for attempting it then the criticism can follow appropriately, aint nothin bad in dt, and hey all the critics is to help us improve, so we also ve to drop our ego and accept them with the right mind, really have alot of of respect for u guys in here and i think dts d way it should be because we neva can tell we mite be closer to each oda in the outside world than we think, and as we are in the same line, work can bring us togeda, so why bless each oda while we can here,

i really dont know what u guys have had in d past but really, following u guys thread was just like a movie involving various actors

@flagship ur designs are cool but could always get better, for ur flagship logo, i think d version without d spiral lines is better because it speaks simplicity and creativity but with d lines now, its actually speaking anoda language, dts my own view,

from my own perspective, really talking about colors now will depend on ur won creativity, for instance an artist(1) could make use of a set of color and produce a design dt wont be much appealing while anoda artist(2) could make use of d same set of color and create d best of jobs, can u tell what made d difference, "creativity" their ability to combine the colors rightly, so really its a choice of the artist, but like i ve mentioned earlier on, their are so clients dt will specifically give u d colors u will work with, in dt case u are kinda of restricted, all u can do is play around with the colors and shades of d colors given, and put ur best to make it comeout d best way it can,

logo color place a very major role in brand identity, since logo itself is a major aspect of branding, so in choosing ur logo color(s), d color could ve been specified by d clients or if the client has given u d decision to make, then u should make the right choice of color because in most cases d logo color determines ur total branding color at the end of it all,

i fink ur attempts are quite good, what mr kemji & mr nine09 are simply telling u is dt u should try in ur creativity to keep ur jobs as simple as possible, i like d first set though but what is it when u begin to put the product of a company on d logo, i dont know does dt still make it a logo or a badge or something,

like d dude said, u still have to design fliers and banners, when ur logo is carrying all d details already, wont it be a repetition on dose ones, really think about it,

everyone is good in his own capacity, so there is no 'newbie' in the world of art,
