Nigerian singer, Timaya in a recent interview, when asked if he's arrogant was quoted saying "asking him about his relationship with Empress Njamah is crap". Read excerpts below... There is a notion that you are arrogant, are you? That is old news. As you can see, I’m not. It’s just like you journalists coming to ask me about my relationship with Empress Njamah. That is crap. I expect more from you journalists. It’s the season of politics, will you be singing the praises of any politician? No! I no longer sing praises to men; I sing praises to God. If they want me to perform at an event, I’ll go and do my thing; not to go and sing the praises of a politician. Our politics leaves much to be desired and I’m not planning to vote. Maybe if things change, I’ll change my mind too. Why did you change your hairstyle? It was deliberate. The face of music is changing and you must change with the times or you’ll be left behind. I used to carry dreadlocks because I wanted to be known and different. So I made myself look crazy at a point in my life by wearing dreads. The controversial things I did then were deliberate, so the media would report them, because I was just an unknown artiste from Bayelsa. Now, with my new look, folks say I look different. Well, that is what is called rebranding. http://enquizzle..com/2014/12/asking-me-about-empress-njama-is-crap.html

The Fadar, a New York based music publication has named Davido’s “Aye” in its list of top 116 tracks in the world, coming in at 81. According to the publication: Davido is one of his continent’s biggest names, if not the biggest. The Nigerian pop star’s international breakthrough singles—like 2012’s euphoric “Dami Duro,” and 2013’s compulsive viral dance record, “Skelewu”‘—were uptempo anthems, yet this year’s “Aye” (pronounced “ah-yay”) would seem, at first blush, to lack the urgency of its predecessors. Its pulse is evasive, with a complex mesh of cross-rhythms. This intricacy provides a nest for some gorgeous high-pitched guitar tones, which cut through the noise like birds chirping a love song. At the song’s heart, though, is Davido’s vocal performance, which communicates sincerity with a complete lack of self-consciousness or duplicity, a feeling of confident optimism bubbling over with certainty: Nobody can love you like I do/ No one can touch you like I do. This is the idealization of devotion, rendered in full color. - David Drake http://enquizzle..com/2014/12/davidos-aye-makes-top-100-worlds-best.html

Recall that Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot was criticized for trying to act Yoruba so he could contest for a seat in the House of Assembly, after the release of his campaign posters bearing a middle name "Olushola". While speaking with City People in a recent chat, the actor defended his name saying; “I am from Lagos state. My father is from Olowogbowo in Lagos Island but my mother is from Delta state. I refer to myself as being a Pan-African. People don’t believe I am a Lagosian because I seldom act in Yoruba movies. And I didn’t include the Shola in my name. Then because my surname is also English, many couldn’t differentiate which made people confused of where exactly I am from. I am very detribalised. People of my constituency know my story and know where I come from. I have always used Shola in my primary school days. I went to Air Force Primary School in Plateau and later attended St John’s College, both in Jos. I proceeded to Lagos State University where I studied Economics and graduated in 2003.″ http://enquizzle..com/2014/10/people-dont-believe-im-lagosian-because.html

26 year old Russian man Serger Kirilov (pictured above) wanted to commit suicide and so he went on Skype and announced that he planned to commit suicide and said anyone who wanted to see it could link to him on Skype. Shockingly, many people linked up to him and watched him hang himself without trying to stop him. One spectator even allegedly said 'a real man would have killed himself more quickly.' Another said 'If a man says he's going to do something, he needs to do it.' Only one person tried to stop him. Russian police are now trying to trace all the people who watched the suicide through their internet service providers. A Russian police spokesman said 'It is beyond belief that people could watch this as a form of entertainment. We will be investigating everyone who watched this incident, especially those who urged him to carry it out who may be guilty of negligent homicide.' http://enquizzle..com/2014/09/man-hangs-himself-live-on-skype-while.html

In an interview with Punch this week, indigenous rap artiste, Olusegun Osaniyi popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, who was quite popular in the early/mid 2000s, says he deserves an award for pioneering indigenous rap music in Nigeria. He said the new generation of indigenous artists sing 'nonsense' and still get endorsement, while they have been forgotten. Below is what he said... "I pioneered indigenous rap music and today it has become lucrative and fashionable. Yet, these young musicians shy away from that fact. They try to hide it. If I don’t blow my trumpet, nobody will do it. But I deserve an award, recognition and endorsement because a lot of people look up to me as their mentor. Look at Eedris Abdulkareem and 9ice, for instance. I’m saying they should take care of the pioneers, but what impact have these new artistes really made in the society to deserve all the endorsements they are getting? I mean, they sing nonsense songs while we (pioneers) do evergreen and clean music. Yet they keep discouraging us. 2face is an exception I am okay with his brand of music, because his endorsements are well-deserved.” Lord of Ajasa, who shot to stardom in 2005 with his single Otiya, blamed his down slide in the music industry to some decisions he took. In his words: "I left the music scene after I got married in 2009 to delve into other businesses. I started this movement long before these small boys emerged on the scene and I paved the way for many of them. When I began, I didn’t know anything about music and entertainment. I was simply making music for the love of it, while 9ice and Olamide were following my footsteps. Whenever I made a mistake, they learned from it and got better. I was just a naïve village boy who came down to Lagos from Ondo State with no guidance. I never knew the big names in Nigerian entertainment at the time.” http://enquizzle..com/2014/09/i-deserve-award-for-pioneering.html

As the infamous Ice Bucket Challenge sweeps through the entire globe non-stop, a group of Japanese porn stars are preparing to take up their own challenge, which is having their breasts squeezed by fans for 24 hours this weekend for a charity event loosely translated as “Boob Aid”. The nine adult movie stars told local media on Monday they could barely contain their excitement about the “Stop! AIDS” campaign event which will be televised live. Endorsed by the Japan Foundation for AIDS Prevention, the televised “Squeeze-A-Thon” has been fighting AIDS one grope at a time for a dozen years now. The event, the 12th since its launch in 2003, will be broadcast on adult cable television, with punters donating to the anti-AIDS campaign in exchange for a feel. It’s open to men over 18, who must sanitize their hands and limit themselves to two squeezes. “I’m really looking forward to lots of people handling my boobs,” porn star Rina Serina told the Tokyo Sports newspaper. “But I would be very happy if you would please be delicate.” “I never thought my boobs could contribute to society,” added Serina. Fellow porn actress Iku Sakuragi had no qualms about being groped by hundreds of pairs of hands. “It’s for charity. Squeeze them, donate money, let’s be happy,” said the 21-year-old. The 24-hour “squeeze-a-thon” begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday and is backed by the Japan Foundation for AIDS Prevention. http://enquizzle..com/2014/08/in-move-over-ice-bucket-challnge-here.html

Fast rising music star Harrysong has opened up on his relationship with an ex-lover whom he really loved in a recent chat with The Net NG. According to the “Kolombo” crooner, she couldn’t handle the distance as he pursued his career in Lagos, while she stayed in Warri because she was in a hurry to tie the knot. Harrysong is basically saying every woman should wait for their man. “Oh yes, I remember when I came to Lagos, I was in a relationship back in Warri, and at that time she gave me the option of coming back to Warri to get married to her because she wasn’t comfortable with the distance or I should face my career and forget about her. So I thought about it, and I begged her to be patient because I had no money, but she said she couldn’t wait because she has other interested guys on her case and her parents wanted her to get married quickly too. So I wished her luck and kept on hustling with my career in Lagos. just yesterday, the same girl called me asking for a date, apparently she’s still not married.” He said. http://enquizzle..com/2014/08/she-is-asking-me-out-now-harrysong-puts.html

Popular dancehall star Daddy Showkey, in a new interview with Tribune, said no armed robber in Lagos can rob him because they respect him too much. He said he's encountered many of them on the streets, but they immediately let him go and even apologize when they recognize him. Read excerpts below... You were said to have been attacked by those alleged to be gunmen in your Lagos home shortly after you returned, could you tell us what happened? Yes, they were assassins. They came to my house and killed one of my boys. Thank God I was lucky. Those guys were not armed robbers because in Nigeria today, no armed robbers can come to my house. It can never happen. Why? I grew up in the street of Ajegunle. I have always been a street boy. Armed robbers can never rob me. I have met a lot of them on the streets of Lagos several times and they will tell me Showkey Baba, we didn’t know it was you. Please, no vex, dey go. That respect is always there. Armed robbers respect you? Do you have any connection with them? That is a story for another day, Mr reporter. So who were the people that came to your house? The people that came to my house saw my son and asked him about my whereabouts, he said I was not around. My son went back inside and told one of my boys to go and attend to the guys at the gate, when he got there, they thought he was my bodyguard, so they shot him. They were inside my house for hours and they did not take anything away. Armed robber won’t come to my house and start asking of Showkey, they will face what they have come for and leave. But these guys were asking for me and when they didn’t see me, they left. I am sad because they killed one of my boys. You were said to have been shot few months after that incident at your house, is that true? Yes. I was shot inside a filling station in Lagos. Why would anybody want to kill you? I don’t know. I can’t even explain what could be responsible for that but I thank God that I have overcome that now. Before you had that accident that kept you out of active music for almost ten years, the impression people had about you was that you had reached the eclipse of your career. Many people did not even know you had an accident until you came back. What do you have to say? First of all, let me thank God that I am back again. Because If I had died before, during or after the accident, this interview will never happen. Talking about my career before the accident, you will agree with me that I have come a long way in the music industry. Myself and other old generation musicians set the ground rolling for today’s musicians and I am proud to say that. But you will agree that at some point, Showkey’s name was not as pronounced as it used to be? You can’t remain on top of your game for the rest of your life. There will be a moment when you will be forced to take the back seat and observe things, but that does not mean you are no more relevant or music has nothing to do with you again. The mistake most people make is that when they don’t see or hear about you, they quickly conclude that your life in music is over. I am not surprised that people didn’t know that I had an accident because I didn’t come out to tell Nigerians that I am down ooo, please help me. Why? Are you saying that because you have the wherewithal to handle your predicament? It is not about having the resources to handle my problem, it is more of my decision not to bother people with my problem. Why should I disturb them in the first place? Because they are my fans does not mean they should know about every step I take about my life. I asked myself one question which was, would Nigerians not have known if I was arrested for drugs or something capable of tarnishing my image?. It seems you are sad that despite your popularity, Nigerians did not know that Daddy Showkey had a life-threatening accident... No. I am not feeling any sadness in my heart. I am even happy right now. I can’t be happier. I am not bothered whether they know or they don’t. What matters to me is that I was able to handle my predicament through the help of God and some people who God used to help me. I am grateful to these people and I wish them well in all they do. They are my people now and they are my friends. http://enquizzle..com/2014/08/armed-robbers-can-never-rob-me-they.html
