iamord: belittle is the word.. They do it to all african countries the have an impact with.. They emphasize on the feats they achieved in liberia and congo..forgetting that they were not the only countries that fought for the freedom of this countries... Even the congo is loyal to ghana army for the daring moves they took in the country.. If I decide to make mention of such its like am trying to tackle nigeria and trying to be a wannabe. its like majority of nigerians on here read only bad news about the countries . they don't always talk about the good. I read quotes like ungrateful south Africa.. That look at the people we help fight for ..and all manner of degrading talk.. What do u want them to do for u?? To lie on the floor for u?? This arrogance has to stop! Always wishing rto be the first is ok.. But trying to be first just to look down on the rest is not a good way to go.. I remember when nigeria gdp was rebraised.. People made noise about it. that south africa is going down and all manner of talk.. With all this kind of talk when nigeria is in problem do u expect them to sympathize with u?? Even if I know they do.. They will not show if to your faces cos they know that after that it will start all over again.. The matter has so many branches now.. Because of this immature behaviour its even hampering intra trade within the region. I remember the. Gay right issue.. How nigerians here lambasted ghana as white man slaves that they could not ban same sex in the country. To the EPA .. I told people that they will sign it that all that one they are doing is initial gragra.. People insulted me.. Now what arre we seeing today.. We concentrate so much on our negatives and bringing down each other that we look down on each other
Cosign a trillion times

londoner: No, I don't think so. There seems to be no difference between a 'friend' and an enemy, then.

Ghanaians don't wish us well, generally. I'm not saying all though.
If u go everyday thinking everyone hates you and everyone is out to get you then you will only see hate even love from someone will be perceive as hate.

In the minds of Nigerians everyone hates them. No wait let me rephrase this in the mind of a Nigerian every men from other countries hate them because they have swag, good looks, ambition, hard working and smart and all the ladies from these countries luv because well they are Nigerians and they are best thing since slice bread.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:53pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: I have not seen it from Nigerians. The only thing Nigerians don't like about Ghanaians is that they come across as fake with us. They love to say "we're brothers" etc, but talk on the other side of their mouths about Nigeria and Nigerians.

If there is something positive in Ghana, Nigerians generally don't have a problem acknowledging it.

When you tell people you are Ghanaian while in Nigeria, I'm sure many react positively to you. At least welcoming. they don't have a deep dislike hatred for Ghanaians that Ghanaians seem to have for them.
So u haven't seen all the insults that throw at Ghanaians every chance they get. Come on London. Stop being biased. Most Africans has nothing but good things to say about Ghanaians.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking:
iamord: I don't agree with u. Of course a lot of ghanains see niigerians has brothers but a lot of nigerians nigerians .we have a lot of connections.. But a lot of nigerians don't hesitate to belittle the country at any given moment. How will you degrade a country to a bag.. Today I myself don't even know the real name of that bag. It has been passed on from generation to generation Fueling a sense of ego against ghana. Something that a lot of them don't even know about. I see a lot of post on here and sayings.. I have seen a lot of people pray that boko haram comes to ghana .a lot r even happy that the economy is down @ the moment..so many instances that time will not permit me to say. I have lived in nigeria and my family are known to be respected.. Hardly will u hear a ghanaian family causing trouble. So there is really nothing to bring up against them.. Am not trying to exalt them . But this is what o have seen since I have lived in Nigeria. But when I tell u a lot of ghanaians are seen as maga when they come here. People that can be out smarted and ridden upon.
Exactly why should any support someone who will only degrade and call u names after they made it. Nigerians like to belittle other countries and take credit where credit is not due to them. Can u imagine a Nigerian saying they made Ghana without them Ghana will fall. The arrogance of these people.

londoner: No, I don't think so. There seems to be no difference between a 'friend' and an enemy, then.

Not true, it all comes to arrogance of Nigerians. A great Nigeria is great for all Africa and not just Ghana and most Ghanaians will admit to this. When Nigeria do great Ghana stands to benefit more than any other country, because more market for us, our tourism will only increase so more money for us.

Should Nigeria do good or better than other countries they will only try to belittle the rest of the countries in Africa. Nigerians contribute a little to Ghana's economy and they are already bragging about putting food on Ghanaians table.

When Nigeria won the afcon they didn't celebrate Nigeria winning the afcon. They celebrated because Ghana failed. They came to nairaland to taunt and belittle Ghana. When it comes to Ghana and nigeria is more about bragging rights and not hatred. I don't have any hatred but if Nigerians see it as that maybe is because they hated Ghanaians first.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:31pm On Jul 31, 2014
iamord: am telling u. I have lived most of my life In nigeria and abroad. Even more than in ghana but the difference is very clear. Nigerians are very great and daring people. In everything they do they try to come up top. But the negative impact of this has also been felt.and it looks bigger . But people just take the messenger and not the message.. Pointing out ghanas problems to satisfy their conscience. instead of looking within. I know ghana is a small population but I need no introduction on the feats we have achieved and we need to be respected for that. This beef really gets annoying at times I wonder where it all started from
Exactly there are plenty of good Nigerians but sadly they have been overshadowed by small percentage. When Nigerians are good they are good and when they are bad they are the worst.

There are many things that admired Nigerians for.
1. They are very ambitious, they are light handed especially when it comes to giving it to God and the people they love. They are business minded.

One thing I hate about Nigerians is their arrogance. Don't know why they call it confidence but it is really a nasty trait. Nothing turns me off more than an arrogant person.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:23pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: Westerners and Asians are able to interact with Nigerians one to one, without the xenophobia. In that sense I would say they are more emotionally developed than Africans.

They don't let it go so far as to render them unable to see ay good in an individual.
Ghanaians don't interact with Nigerians. In music, in movies. In fact there are collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria than between Nigeria and any other country. Every year you have the Ghana meets Nigeria concert. Despite whatever you hear between Ghana and Nigeria online we still get along okay. Ghana remains nigeria's only friend.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:15pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: So, why does it not matter whether the individual is not living up to the perception?
It will be great if everyone was treated individually but it doesn't work like that. We like to preach about treating people individually but in real life it is hardly done. Sins of the father. That's why we are still paying for the sun of Adam and Eve.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:12pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: When people are adults, you have to be able to judge the individual standing before you.

Even when you are honest, they still are waiting for you to show" true Nigerian colours", that is instead of tempering their perception in accordance with the good they experience of you.

Instead they try and say "oh its because of this and that" that's why you are not displaying negative 'Nigerian" attributes.

I don't see how some faceless Nigerian drug dealer or 419er you hear about in the news or through gossip, can be given more credence than the good Nigerians you say you have met in real life.

As I said before, people like to cling to the negative mantra about Nigerians, because they get a personal pay off. They like to feel they are "superior".

Changing the perception would mean relinquishing their created feeling of inferiority.
I disagree, we humans and as human negative thing has more impact on us than positive. For example let's say everyone that you meet always compliment you about your beauty but one person decides to call u ugly. That one person will have more impact than the rest.

Ghanaians are not the only people that say this about Nigerians Africans, Asians, and westerners also say this about Nigerians. You mean to tell me we are all out to get Nigerians. Nigerians made their bed and they have no one to blame but themselves.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 11:05pm On Jul 31, 2014
iamord: lol.. U don't seem to get me.. Am now generalizing not just talking about the protest issue. This has been something that has sparked differences between the two parties. What will us say about the nigerian uni student. That was killed in ghana..will u say its only nigerian suspects because they r nigerians?? Sometimes they may act that way. But a lot of nigerians cause the issues but no one wants to understand that.. Its all about they hate us!!
Exactly, perception is everything.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 10:52pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: Well , that is what I am claiming and you are trying to say its pick pocketing.

Say the truth and shame the devil......always.

The fact that they are Nigerian was enough to arrest. Why try and white wash it?......From the beginning, claim that truth.

It was glaringly obvious to me. Its good that you are now saying it openly. At least I can respect you for that.
Bad Nigerians have spoiled the name of Nigeria. I have met lots of good Nigerians but most people wont not even get time to know Nigerians because to be honest Nigerians have carved a bad name for themselves. That's why I say Ghanaians are not xenophobic towards Nigerians but we are suspicious of them.

Nigerians need to stop saying people are jealous, or hate them for simple fact that they are Nigerians. I am not saying Ghanaians are innocent but the image most people have Ghanaians is trust worthy. I am not bragging it is the way it is.

In real estate location is everything, with countries image is everything.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 10:42pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: Its xenophobia and prejudice at the very least.
Not really, I consider friendly banter, the same kind of banter u see on nairaland between igbos, Yorubas and Hausas.

Outside of nairaland I don't see this type of animosity between Ghanaians and Nigerians. I luv to tease Nigerians especially on nairaland.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 10:25pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: I know some have condemned it. However, I would say when it comes to Naija's, GH are VERY xenophobic. The authorities know this.

That is why they are making this "pickpocket" story up. How many days after the arrest.......lol
We are not xenophobic, we just know Nigerians too damn well. With Ghana and Nigeria it's always competition but to say we are xenophobic is stretch.

When it comes to this incident, I agree the police was wrong. Worst has happened to Ghanaians in Nigeria.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 10:22pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: Ashantiking, you know that comment was lame as h.ell, before you even pressed the "submit" button.....lol
It wasn't, I thought it was clever. Oh well can't impress everyone.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 10:18pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: That's a lie, because the officials were interviewed and they could not say they arrested them for any reason, other than the fact that the protest was for Ghanaians only. If they were pick pocketing, they would say so.

Its because people are criticising the arrest, they are trying to justify it by peddling lies about the men. Accusations that the average xenophobic Ghanaian will believe without questioning.

If they were pick pockets they would have just made sure they blended in.

Sorry to say, your friend is either misinformed or outright lying.
Many Ghanaians including myself have condemned the action of the police. Ghanaians are not xenophobic.

The transport fair from lagos to abuja is about 30dollars, so tell me how one man will live below one dollar in nigeria, perhaps, bbc website is www.bbc.co.uk not www.bbc.com, ghanians are illiterates grin grin grin
You are a fool, I see u realize your mistake and deleted the other comment. Click on your www.bbc.co.uk and see where it takes you. See how Eba eaters make fools out of themselves.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 1:26pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: No, but my point is that they were never surviving on $1 a day in the first place. Its about the perception, based on those numbers.

The only people that can claim to survive on $1 a day are aljamaris, homeless or mad people that beg for money. Or maybe those in the village that have their own farms and no need for more than that amount.

Its simply not true and those who go to Nigeria can confirm that.
Well I have never been to Nigeria and I am going by my research, and it says 70% are poor.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 1:23pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: I do find it funny that people cling to the "$1 a day" lines for dear life, when it comes to Nigeria.

But, when international reports claim anything positive about Nigeria, their immediate response is "its just on paper".
Don't act like Nigerians don't do the same. I am yet to hear anything positive about Nigeria for me to deny.
Foreign AffairsRe: Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana For Joining Protest March by Ashantiking: 1:20pm On Jul 31, 2014
londoner: ^^^^^That article was published in 2011.

After the rebasing this year, I don't know whether the figures will stay the same (I admit I'm no economist).

I can tell you, there is no way 70% live on $1 a day. Even in the village that is a hard feat.
The rebasing didn't change anything but increase the GDP. The suffering and the poor are still suffering and they are still poor. The rebasing didn't change the lives of a single nigerian.

Smh, it seems you don't know what 1dollar is, olodo
70% of Nigerians live on less than a dollar a day. Is really shameful that you can come on here and brag about having billionaires when the mass is dirt poor.

Nigerians outnumber Ghanaians 10-1 so your dumbazz needs to generate way more than that. Then again we shouldn't expect much from a country that can't refine its own oil.
