EducationHow To Solve Indicial Equation (indices) by Assignment001(op): 9:13am On Jan 29, 2022
Indicial Equations
This is an equations that has variables in the equation being power of indices.

Example: Solve the following equations

2 X = 16
3 X = 27
4 X = 32
9 X – 2 = 243
4 X +1 = 32
5 X – 2 = √(50/cool
100X – 2 = 0.0000000000000000000001
2 X – 2 = 1.728
2 X + 1 = 625
81 X – 1 = 1/729
Solution

2 X = 16
2 X = 2 4

Equating powers

X = 4

3 X = 27
3 X = 3 3

Equating powers

X = 3

4 X = 32
(2)2X = 2 5

Equating powers

2X = 5

X = 5/2

9 X – 2 = 243
3 2( X – 2) = 3 5

Equating powers

2(X – 2) = 5

2 X – 4 = 5

2X = 5 + 4

2 X = 9

X = 9/2

4 X + 1 = 1/ 32
2 2( X + 1) = 1/ (2) 5

2 2(X + 1) = 2 -5

Equating powers

2( X + 1) = – 5

2 X + 2 = -5

2X = – 5 – 2

2X = – 7

X= -7/2

EducationHow To Solve Sequences And Series Problem by Assignment001(op): 5:58am On Jan 26, 2022
sequences and series

Given 1, 3, 5, 7 …

2, 5, 8, 11…

Each set is written down in a definite order and there is a simple rule by which the terms are obtained. Such a set of term is called a sequence. Eg 2, 4, 6, 8, 10…

If the term of a sequence are considered as a sum, for instance

1 + 2 + 3 + …+ 98 + 99 + 100 it is called a series.

Types of Sequences

Arithmetic progression or linear sequence
Exponential sequence
Arithmetic progression:
In arithmetic progression, the difference between a term and the term immediately preceding it, is always constant and this constant is called common difference. It is usually denoted by the letter “ d”

d = T n – T n –1

d = T 2 – T 1 or T 3 – T 2 or T 4 –T 3

So if a sequence T 1, T 2, T 3, T 4 is such that d = T 2 – T 1 or T 3 – T 2 or T 4 – T 3etc T 1, T 2 , T 3, T 4 are in arithmetic progression.

Example: Given a sequence 0, – 3, – 6, – 9…Find the common difference.

Solution

d = T 2 – T 1

= – 3 – 0

= -3

Example: Given a set of sequence 4, 8, 12, 16 etc Find the common difference.

Solution

d = T 2 – T 1

= 8 – 4

= 4

N th Term of An Arithmetic Progression
T n = a + ( n –1 ) d

a = first term

n = number of terms

d = common difference

Example : Find the 40 th term of a linear sequence ( A. P ) 6, 11, 16, 21…

Solution

T n = a + ( n – 1 ) d

6, 11, 16, 21

a = 6, d = 16 – 11 = 5, n = 40

T 40 = 6 + ( 40 – 1 ) 5

= 6 + ( 39 ) 5

= 6 + 145

= 201

EducationQuadratic Equation by Assignment001(op): 8:44am On Jan 23, 2022
Quadratic Equation
A quadratic equation is an equation that has the highest power of the variable in the equation equal to 2 while the powers of the other variables are integers which are less than 2. The general form of quadratic equation is ax2 + bx + c = 0.

Case 1: When C = 0

Solve the following equation

X2 – 4 X = 0
X2+ 6X = 0
2X2 – 8X = 0
4X2 – 5X = 0
Solution:

X2 – 4X = 0
X ( X – 4) = 0

X = 0 or X – 4 = 0

X= 0 or X = 4

X2 + 6X = 0
X( X + 6) = 0

X = 0 or X + 6 = 0

X= 0 or X= – 6

4X2 – 5 x = 0
X(4X – 5) = 0

X = 0 or 4X – 5 = 0

X = 0 or 4 X = 5

X= 0 or X = 5/4

Case 2: When b = 0

X2 – Y2 = ( X + Y) (X – Y)
M2 – N2= ( M + N) (M – N)
a2 – b2 = ( a + b) ( a – b)
Example: Simplify the following

X2 – 4 = 0
X 2 – 25 = 0
16 X 2– 100= 0
4X2 – 81 = 0
X2 – 7= 0
X2+ 9 = 0
Solution

X2 – 4 = 0
X 2 – 2 2 = 0

(X + 2) (X – 2)= 0

(X + 2) = 0 or (X – 2) = 0

X = -2 or X= 2

X2 – 25 = 0
(X)2 – ( 5)2

( X + 5) ( X – 5) = 0

X + 5 = 0 or X – 5 = 0

X = – 5 or X = 5

16 X 2– 100= 0
( 4X) 2 – (20) 2 = 0

4X + 20 = 0 or 4X – 20= 0

4X = – 20 or 4X = 20

X= – 20/4 or X = 20/4

X = – 5/2 or X = 5/2
