Is this not too much information?

This page is supposed to be for sharing tips on how to apply for a Canadian study permit, but you guys have turned it into a street fight in the last couple of days.

amnotapervert:
Hahaha, I have a job that pays me well enough to save a 20% down payment for my house in 18 months.

My yearly contributions are: TFSA $10,000, RRSP $5,000, and RESP $2,500.

I also have about $80,000 in a high-interest savings account, which I plan to use toward my second property ..saved within 2–3 years after buying my first house.

My sister and I also own a rental property in Scarborough.

I am doing a European trip this summer from the UK to France to Italy and back to Toronto. I will share pictures 😂 like I did last year in the Caribbean.

Now the real question: how is your PR process going?

Remember, time moves fast and the points keep getting higher every year. It’s always good to plan ahead.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 3:37am On Feb 19
This reads like a case of poor and incomplete documentation.

To reapply, ensure that you provide enough RELEVANT documents to address the issues raised.

Your father should write a proper letter of financial support detailing his commitment to sponsor you, what he does and explain his sources of income.

If he is an employee, a reference letter from his employer is a most.

If he is a business owner, complete business registration documents and proof of business transactions should be provided.

Documents provided should be sufficient enough to literally speak on your behalf to the visa officer.

All the best

Gurus in the house please help on what to do on this refusal

I have reviewed the application. The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for the applicant and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable). The applicant's stay in Canada is to be sponsored by their father. Bank statement demonstrates significant gains; however I am not satisfied that the provenance is well documented. There is limited evidence demonstrating how they came to accumulate their savings. Financial information is not supported with an employment letter confirming salary composition and position, pay slips or evidence of reported income to support the account balances on file. In the absence of supplementary documentation establishing the source of their savings, I am not satisfied the applicant has demonstrated their access to a stable source of sufficient funds for the intended stay in Canada. There is no personal bank statement on file from the applicant to consider as a result, I am not satisfied that the PA provided sufficient evidence of their financial establishment/socio-economic situation. Based on the financial documents submitted, I am not satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds to pay for living expenses for the proposed studies. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 3:28am On Feb 19
Always get involved with the process, don't pay anybody and then go an sit down for them to take care of EVERYTHING.

Do not pay for someone to submit POF for you, you may get a ban if they use fraudulent bank statement and supporting documents.

If you don't have a sponsor who is a family member, maybe you should consider other destinations where you and your family can afford for now.

Great1tech:
Hello guys, i was refused today i applied December 29th,please what can i do, i paid someone to do it for me,also the pof too, im so broken !!! I can’t even tell anybody at home about it
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 9:25am On Feb 11
So you're calling him a scammer because he asked you to pay him?

It is not like you have paid for his services and he disappeared?

Are you sure you're not overdoing it?

There is no question that you're going to ask on this forum that have not been asked and answered over and over.

If you don't want to pay for services, all you have to do is read through the pages or wait for someone who is free to respond to your questions.

Zanemom:
I don’t even know. He sent a Nairaland email to me, I replied via email. Next he WhatsAppd, introduced himself. I thought he wanted to help me make the right decision based on my first msg here. He said a lot of things about being an agent but I have to pay him first.

Don't ever lie on your application.

She will be playing with 5 years ban if she follows that advise, Canada and US in particular share data.

Let her Submit her application truthfully and leave the rest to God.

Naomy8:
I asked because someone was telling her that it’s better she claims her husband is in Nigeria and do self sponsor, that when they see her husband is in US, they will think she wants to run to US through Canada and not a genuine student. So they might deny her visa because of that..
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 9:49am On Feb 09
You sister's husband can sponsor her if he can provide proper proof of relationship, means of financial support and other suppoting documents from both your sister and her husband.

The question of what are her chances of getting the visa lies in the hands of the visa officer who will review her files and how convincing the documents they provide are.

Avoid agents that gaurantee visa outcome and those who will "assist" you with fake documents

All the best.

Naomy8:
Hello everyone…

Please can someone answer me 🙏. My sister wants to go to Canada for studies and the husband lives and works in US, he is also in the military. He wants to sponsor my sister ie his wife to Canada for studies. Please can he sponsor her? What’s my sister’s chance of getting a visa?
What are the necessary things they needs to do?
He had also filed for her to go to US before the ban.

It is in line with you first degree.

But we have to ask if you have any work experience?

Your proposed program should be consistent with you work if you have upto 3 years of experience.

Good day everyone. I appreciate the good work you're doing on this thread. Please I have a quick question and I'll be glad if anyone has an answer for me.

I graduated with a 2.1 in Fisheries and Aquaculture, but I'm looking to do my masters in Agricultural Economics in Canada. Is this a possible transition? Do you know anyone that has done it before? I've searched on LinkedIn but I've not found any yet. Thank you all.

I had to read you post all over again to be sure I didn't miss anything.

It will be easier to advise you if you can let us know how many years of work experience your have, in what field and the last refusal notes.

I don't want to believe that the only reason why you were denied twice in 2025 was program choice.

All the best.

Hi Everyone,

I'm a graduate of Accounting and currently in the process of applying for my Canada study visa after 2 previous refusals in 2025 and unfortunately my previous program (Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics) got canceled. I'm now looking for suggestion on which course or program i should take for easier PR Pathway, suitable for my profile as an Accounting graduate and to increase my chances of visa approval.

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has advice on good programs of fields to consider, i'd really appreciate your guidance.

Attach below are the programs suggested by the school.

There is nothing as frustrating for me from the processing side, like seeing sponsors that are not fully commited to sponsoring their relatives (we get this mostly from Uncles). They will post you till no end and at the die minute, the will tell you to use what the have provided as it is.

And it makes me wonder, if you don't want to help, why raise someone's hope?

Most of them are afraid that if they disclose too much, people will know the full extend of their wealth and that could lead to excessive billing or pose a security risk.

It is a very tricky situation that can stillbe overcomed, try to get them involved in the reapplication process and share the notes with them so they can assist you in the process of addressing them.

All the best.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 9:35am On Jan 26
It is possible to successfully apply for a program that you have passion for, that is not related to your previous degree and work experience.

You just need to write a proper SOP that will do justice to why you want to study this unrelated program.

@Profgodons is not wrong at all, we all have diferent experiences and every visa application is treated differently by the visa officers who are the final decider of wether the application is approved or not.

amnotapervert:
You lost me at ‘passion’ 😂 IRCC does not give two Fs about passion. What they care about is whether you can show measurable progress in your life and clearly justify why you want to study that program.

They want to see that the program is related to your previous degree or your current work experience, and that it will realistically advance your future career.

Don’t forget...you are a Nigerian applying with a Nigerian passport, and study permit approval rates for Nigerian applicants remain low.

I have shared the numbers multiple times...

A South Korean citizen can apply based on passion. Even a Chinese student can.

Nigerians, Indians, etc.....cannot apply for a program simply because of passion

Believe it or not, Canada is looking for people that will bring in FRESH money/inflows!

Sponsors from within Canada is not a great idea, but he can contribute by paying off your tuition fee and/or set up a GIC for you as part of his contribution.

Let the main/additional sponsorship come from Nigeria.

This advice is from what I have experienced handling study visa applications.

All the best.

Chigbo55:

Please I want to make an inquiry here, Can my in-law in Canada stand as my Sponsor? he is a Canadian citizen and works as a software engineer.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 1:24pm On Jan 21
Try and make the initial deposit to retain a seat for this program if you want to resume by September 2026.

You can part liquidate the investment for this purpose or borrow against it.

If on the other hand you can't, you can write the school and explain the situation, they may give you time to pay.

I have seen few instances where people miss the deadline to pay the initial deposit and they requested for extension and they were given.

All the best.

infofta:
Thank you gor the response.

The funds is from investment that will only be available in March.

Can I send a mail telling them this since September start date is still far away.

I was told earlier during my application that the last day to submit documents is July 1 meaning there is still time so why 10 days ultimatum.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 11:18pm On Jan 15
Open the GIC with CIBC, it is very important.

It can be anything from 10-20 CAD, to cover your living expenses. It tells the visa officer that you're not coming to Canada to struggle to survive, and it removes the doubt of whether you will have access to the funds.

The GIC should be in Addition to other POF arrangements.

All the best.

Chigbo55:
Are you saying I should consider other options for proof of funds and ignore the idea of a bank draft?

Check my signature

Chigbo55:
Sir how can I contact you? pls I would like to get more information from you, I need more clarification on how to run this GIC perfectly.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 9:09am On Jan 14
He should use the money open a GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) in your name, that is what the visa officer will recognize, not bank draft.

Chigbo55:
Regarding Proof of fund for Canadian student visa application, can bank draft serve as POF? My in-law in Canada said he will open bank draft in my name. I will use it as POF when applying for student visa. Can it be used as POF?

I really want to know how bank draft works as proof of funds for visa applications. I have paid my acceptance deposit and I'm in Nigeria
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by ATTAHDYE(m): 12:18pm On Jan 02
1. Does she have a relative in Canada that she can visit ? If yes, let the relative send her an invitation letter and attach he permit (study, work, PR or Citizenship)

2. She can just apply as a tourist. In this case, she can book her flight itinery and make hotel reservation to cover the entire duration of her proposed stay.

Above all, know that the decision to approve or deny the application is in the hands of the Visa Officer.

1. POF = tuition for first year + 22,895 + 3,000 (others)

2. Yes you can pay tuition fee from your account

3. Yes, you can use other accounts for your POF, so long as it is from a sponsor that is preferablely an immediate family member

All the best

Reach out to your school to defer your resumption date.

Once it is done they will issue you a new LOA.

Send the LOA by webform to notify IRCC.

You don't need to withdraw or reapply for anything on IRCC.

All the best.

Hello Sir

Canada places a lot of emphasis on consistency, since you said you have been a banker since 2018, my advice is that you pursue a program in Management or Finance.

Health will not cut it at the Visa stage (you could get an admission for a health care program, and get bounced at the visa stage for inconsistencies in career path) because you have no working experience in that sector.

All the best

Hello everyone.

I'm looking to apply for either an MSc Or a 2 year Pgd.

I have a Bsc In Plant Biology & Biotechnology finished in 2016.

A Higher diploma in Public Health (Epidemiology and Reproductive health) 2024 frok The University of Ibadan Consultancy service Unit - I don't know if this counts, as there are claims that it is not an official degree

A Pgd in Business Administration, finished in 2024.

For work experience, I've worked and at present in the banking sector since 2018.

I'm looking to applying for a course somewhat health related and in high demand.

I am looking to prioritise courses with affordable tuition. Many of the schools I've come across seem to charge on a per credit basis and somewhat high.

I will be glad to receive suggestions as to great courses with prospects to Post graduate work permit and jobs after studies.

Thank you
