The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, has refused the All Progressives Congress the use of Uyo Township Stadium for the hosting of President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Buhari was scheduled to visit Akwa Ibom on Thursday, but as the state government denied the APC use of the Uyo Township Stadium, the visit had to be postponed till after the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections. The letter denying the APC the use of the stadium emanated from the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Youth and Sports, dated April 7, with ref. No. MYS/AD/146/VOL. 11/142 and made available to newsmen on Thursday. The letter, which was signed by Mr. Nse Edem, on behalf of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Akan Uko, stated that the request to use the stadium was denied because the Peoples Democratic Party in the state had applied to use it earlier. “I am directed to refer to your letter of April 6, 2015 on the request for the use of Uyo Township Stadium and to inform you that the ministry had already approved the use of the stadium to the Peoples Democratic Party on April 9. “You are by this letter please requested to look for any other alternative venue since the stadium had already been booked and would not be free for April 9.” Reacting to the development, the Head of Media and Publicity, Umana Okon Umana Campaign Organisation, Mr. Iboro Otongaran, said the President-elect would not visit the state as scheduled due to the denial of the APC the use of the venue. He said that efforts to get alternative venue had proved abortive as the party was so confident that the Uyo township stadium would be approved. He called on the APC supporters not to worry, but to go out en masse on Saturday to vote for Umana as Akwa Ibom governor and all other APC candidates in the state House of Assembly. Prophet T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has cursed some peoples who he alleged are spreading lies about him and his ministry. He took to the official Facebook page of his ministry to curse them, stressing that members should not listen to them or sit near them. He urged that God requires that we find out the truth from Him first and hold fast to that which is true. Read his post below ATTENTION ZIMBABWE!!! Good morning, people of Zimbabwe. Our attention has been drawn to false rumours spread by the father of lies which are currently being circulated around Zimbabwe. The reward of liars is destruction. We hereby curse, in the name of Jesus, whoever is spreading these rumours. Prophet T.B. Joshua can NEVER and he will NEVER give such a message because our God is not the God of confusion. We should be very careful not to touch an anointed man of God and lie against him. The Bible says in John 8:44 that satan is ‘the father of lies’. Don’t listen to the father of lies, the sons of lies and the daughters of lies. Do not sit somewhere, hear this or that and come to a hasty conclusion. God requires that we find out the truth from Him first and hold fast to that which is true, as the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:21. God bless Zimbabwe. In less than five days to the governorship election slated for April 11, 2015 across the country, the Edo State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a huge loss following the defection of one its backbone in the state to the All Progressive Congress (APC). The Nation reports that Maj.Gen. Charles Arhiavbere, who became the first person in Edo State to leave the PDP with over 10,000 of his supporters, joined the APC in Benin City, on Easter Sunday. “Since after the election of 2012 there has been heightened tension in Edo state which has made development slow and I believe my coming to meet with the Comrade Governor and APC which is now at the centre, speedy development will take place in Edo state. There will be peace, there will be stability and things can now happen faster,” Arhiavbere said. When the defector was asked why he took the decision to dump PDP few days after the party lost power at the federal level. Arhiavbere said; “I would not be one of the political leaders that would move Edo state backwards especially when the APC is now at the federal level. Every well-meaning politician must come to the centre for rapid development. We can only do that if we give political stability to his Excellency the Comrade Governor of Edo state. The party at the centre is All Progressives Congress and the party in Edo state is also APC why then should we be in opposition and I believe that I have the ground and the supporters to influence positively the election of April 11 for the State House of Assembly.” He assured Edo state people that with Comrade Oshiomhole, the gelegele seaport will be taken up by the APC-controlled Federal Government, maintaining that the dualization of the Benin –Lokoja road will be pursued to a logical conclusion. Governor Oshiomhole, who received the defector and his supporters, expressed joy over the development. “It is great receiving Major-General Charles Arhiavbere who was my main opponent in the 2012 governorship election in Edo state and over the period he has seen through the political environment. Even as he was in PDP, we have maintained a good relationship. That he has come to join us is in line with our tradition to try to consolidate democracy, open up the party to every genuine person who wants to join the party because politics is a game of numbers but this one is a quality number which makes it much more important for us. It shows that our political contestation was nothing personal which is why we have no difficulties in embracing one another and welcoming him into the APC family,” The governor revealed that he felt fulfilled because his mission in Edo state is to provide good governance by way of applying public funds in a way that will deliver happiness to the greatest number of our people but also to clean up the political space so that godfathers are permanently put out of business and very ordinary people with ideas can have a space to engage. Meanwhile, Governor Oshiomhole who also received Hon Richard Lamai and Major Gen. Shaibu both from Edo North said: “the more people that join us, the deeper the message that Edo electorates are the political leaders in APC. Richard has been a loud voice in PDP and he led a group called “PDP Reloaded” and everybody knows that he was very close to a chieftain of the PDP and he has worked there tirelessly over the years and his coming to join us is to also enrich our party.” The governor commended the supporters of the three former PDP chieftains who also joined the APC. He charged them to come out en masse on Saturday, April 11 and vote for APC candidates for the Edo state House of Assembly in order to sustain development in the state. Arhiavbere was a governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2012 gubernatorial election in Edo State and national coordinator of the Goodluck Support Group and Goodluck Youth Initiative. By Esther Onyegbula LAGOS — Operatives of the Lagos State Investigative Bureau (SCIB) have arrested two members of a four-man robbery gang in Lagos which specialises in terrorising residents of Isolo, Oshodi, Ikeja and its environs. The suspects, identified as Ihenachor Samson, 25 and Raphael Ugbekele, 33, were arrested after successfully carrying out a robbery operation in Bucknor Estate in Isolo, Lagos. It was learned that the armed gang, which attacked the house of one barrister (names withheld), gained access into the compound through the back fence. They tied up the security man and cut the burglary to gain access to the main apartment, where they allegedly stole the victim’s Porsche Chyes SUV, house appliances, plasma television, home theatre, clothing and other valuables. They also broke into the shop attached to the building and carted away some goods and recharge cards. Vanguard gathered that after the operation, the victim reported the case to the Commissioner of Police who then detailed operatives of the Lagos State Investigative Bureau, SCIB, to investigate the case. The investigation paid off months after as the operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout and arrested Samson, and subsequently arrested Raphael too. Although the vehicle is yet to be recovered, it was gathered that when the detectives got to one of the suspects’ house, they discovered the victim’s home theatre and Plasma television. Suspect’s account Speaking to Vanguard, Raphael, who just returned from Ikoyi prisons after serving a jail term bordering on robbery and receiving stolen, said: “It was at Ikoyi prison that I met the two members of the gang. I am the leader of the gang. I was the one that brought the guns that we used for operations. “One of my associates whom I met at Ikoyi prisons gave me the guns. After I returned from prison I began to squat with my cousin in the estate. “I decided to rob the barrister because his daughter’s drove expensive vehicles arrogantly in the neighbourhood. We were able to carry out the operation successfully because I have watched and monitored them closely. “I also met Olaitan, the receiver, in prison and he promised to help us sell the vehicle. He has only remitted N30,000 unfortunately he was caught, arrested, charged to court and is currently in Kwara prison where he is serving a jail term on robbery.” |

Zig Ziglar said “Money isn’t everything , but it’s right up there with oxygen.” The topic of wealth, income, and making money is often discussed and viewed in a negative light. Our society is afraid of being labeled as greedy or money hungry, but what must be understood is that money is a crucial part of freedom. I personally know what it’s like to have nothing, to stress about paying my next bill, and to feel hopeless. I also know what it’s like to thrive, and I’ve been fortunate enough to create some great income as well. Having money is a lot more enjoyable and fulfilling, but most importantly it gives you options. Have you ever heard anybody say any of these? “Money is the root of all evil.” “Rich people are greedy.” “Money won’t make you happy.” “You don’t want to be one of those people.” “I don’t need money.” It's usually those who claim they don't care about money that are broke. Why not get wealthy? Why not become a millionaire? Why not focus on making as much money as you can? As entrepreneurs, I know you have goals of increase your income. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, so those thriving financially must be doing something different, right? Better yet, they must have a better perspective about money and how it’s earned? Let me give you eight very tactical and straightforward tips that can be used right away to catapult your income. 1. Stop doing what you’re doing. We all know the saying “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a difference result.” If you aren’t satisfied, the first thing you must do is stop doing what you’ve been doing because what you are doing is what is creating your dissatisfying, current reality. What’s great about life is the opportunity to completely change your story and direction overnight. Regardless of your past decisions, you’re always one decision away from making the right one. 2. Don’t let money define you. Your self worth has nothing to do with your finances. Whether you have a negative bank account or $5 million in the bank, your confidence must never waiver. If anything, your confidence needs to increase when you are stressed so you are motivated you to never feel that stress again. Being wealthy is a state of mind, but so is being broke. You are what defines you, not what you possess. 3. Start prioritizing your profits. When you set up your weekly schedule make sure you start with income producing activities. Of all your activities, 20 percent will account for 80 percent of your income. Figure out what those are. Really think about the the top two or three things you need to do to create income. Now put those in your schedule consistently to assure you are creating income. Constantly ask yourself if what you’re doing is profitable. Focus on doing what you should versus what you feel. Never forget that impact drives income. 4. Start placing a higher value on your time. Time is more valuable than money. You can always get more money, but you can never get more time. It is possible to become twice as valuable, and make twice as much money in the same amount of time. There is nothing more valuable than time invested wisely. We all have the same 24 hours, and it’s what you do with them that determines everything. 5. It’s Ok to say no. Steve Jobs once said, “It’s what Apple said “no” to that ultimately made them successful.” If you’re over-extending yourself and committing to too many things, this word will change your life. Say "no'' to everything that doesn't create income for you until you get your income to a place you feel confident and secure. Make a commitment to yourself that you will focus on income-producing activities versus tension-relieving activities. 6. Proximity is power. Most broke people hang with other broke people and they usually stay broke, together. Elevate your peer group by reaching out to those playing the game of life at a higher level than you. Find those people because you’ll become a lot like the people you spend the most time with. Their belief systems, their ways of being and their attitudes are contagious. You're either surrounding yourself with those who hold you accountable, or let you off the hook. Choose wisely. 7. Lower your excuses. As the excuses go up, the bank account goes down. The best excuse makers or “validators” have the smallest bank accounts. The energy and time you spend on creative excuses is better invested in thinking of actual solutions that move your life forward. Excuses are a disease and those who continue making them will continue to have money issues. 8. Shift your focus from victim to leader. Stop blaming the economy, stop blaming your past, stop blaming your boss or company, and stop thinking the world is out to get you. Charge more, switch jobs, become more valuable. My friend Hal Elrod says, “The moment you take responsibility for everything in your life, is the moment you can change anything in your life.” The difference between ordinary income and extraordinary income is fast implementation. How quick will you get on your grind to start increasing your income? I assure you if you take these tips seriously, and want it bad enough you will create an income explosion the next couple months. I want you to realize that your bank account isn’t who you are, it’s who you were before you made the decision to focus on wealth. When you spend decades working with executives and business leaders, you really can’t help but observe what works and doesn’t work over the long haul. One thing I’ve noticed, it’s not intrinsic characteristics or personal habits that determine whether you’re successful or not. It’s your behavior. What do I mean by “behavior?” How you react under long-term stress. Whether you meet your commitments or not. How you interact with others. Your attitude toward customers. How hard you’re willing to work to do the job right. Whether you’re focused and disciplined or scattered and distracted. That sort of thing. Now, I admit to having known some pretty dysfunctional founders and CEOs who did well for themselves for a time. But sooner or later, usually when the pressure is on and things aren’t going so well, they exhibit self-destructive behavior that bites them in the ass. Sadly, they often take their businesses down with them. If you want to make it big over the long-term, you might want to take a good, hard look in the mirror and see if any of these career-limiting behaviors describe you. 1. Naivety. Granted, we all start out sort of wide-eyed and gullible, but the sooner you convert that to savvy and skeptical, the better your chances of coming out on top. The reason is simple: suckers and fools don’t win. Learn to question everything you read and hear and always consider the source. 2. Panic. High-pressure situations are common in the business world. Things almost never go according to plan and oftentimes they go terribly wrong. It comes with the territory. If you can’t override your adrenaline response and remain calm in a crisis, you’re sort of screwed. 3. Fanaticism. Passion is a big success driver, but when you cross that line and become over-the-top fanatical, that works against you. I’ve seen it time and again. It leads to a skewed perception of reality, flawed reasoning, and bad decision-making. 4. Laziness. Those who are driven to achieve great things also know one fundamental truth: It takes hard work over the long haul. That’s why they’re always so focused and disciplined. Most people are slackers. That’s why most people don’t achieve great things. Simple as that. 5. Quick-fix mentality. Steve Jobs said, “Half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance” and if you’re not passionate about what you do, you won’t stick with it. Too many people want instant gratification these days. That’s not going to cut it. 6. Acting out. Whatever feelings you have trouble dealing with – jealousy, shame, inferiority, entitlement – transferring them to people you work with and acting out in anger won’t just make you and everyone around you miserable, it’ll kill your career, too. 7, Selfishness. If you act like the world revolves around you, you’d better have the talent to back it up. Even so, being overly self-centered will diminish your effectiveness. Business isn’t about you; it’s about business. It’s about your customers’ experience with your products. Remember who serves whom in the relationship. 8. Living in the past or future. Granted, we can learn from the past, but dwelling on it is self-destructive. Likewise, you can plan for and dream about the future, but if your actions aren’t focused on the present, you’ll never achieve your plans or your dreams. 9. Lighthearted indifference. You hear phrases like “whatever works,” “it’s all good,” and “no worries” a lot lately but you’ll rarely hear them from highly accomplished people. They may be a lot of things but apathetic is not one of them. 10. Oversensitivity. If you’re so thin-skinned that any criticism makes you crazy and every little thing offends you, you’re going to have a rough go of it in the real business world. There’s a good reason why business leaders usually have a good sense of humor and humility. It’s sort of a requirement. Don’t take yourself so seriously. One last thing. If any of this offends you enough to want to write an angry flame comment, you’ve got at least two or three issues to work on. Then again, look at the bright side. At least you’re not indifferent.
