Religion / Re: Wish To Help The Poor And Needy Even More In 2019 Than In 2018, How About You? by Augustine1122(m): 8:54pm On Jan 02, 2019
jesusjnr:
I was walking down the road this morning to get some food stuff from a nearby market, and on my way there I saw a mid-aged woman sat down by the side of a nearby shop talking quite seriously.

And I tried to see to get closer to her to see who she was talking to, but on getting where she was, I saw that she was alone.

And I wondered what she could be talking about alone with such seriousness, as I left the place that she was.

And when I was passing where she was again she was up and she came to me and asked me to help her with some money, and I was surprised because she didn't look like someone who would have needed such kind of help.

But i Immediately reached for my pocket because there was some money I had left, and when I got some money I gave it to her, and she thanked me.

But I was yet wondering how it was that she would need such a help because she didn't look like a wretched person, and I felt quite sad because I felt that there were yet many like her who needed such help, hence I thought about putting more effort and giving more this year than I did the last.

And i'm not talking in terms of amount but in percentage, so I would like as many people as possible to join me in trying to help more poor people this new year than we did last year.

And it may not seem much to you but you have no idea the difference it could make collectively in the lives of those we help in 2019.
Politics / Re: How Religion Has Under Developed Nigeria by Augustine1122(m): 7:49pm On Dec 30, 2018

I've been going through Marx's statements on Wikipedia, and it seems to relate with the Nigeria situation.

In his time, Marx understood the effect religion has on the masses in making them illusioned with expectations. This illusion helps them forget their immediate suffering and enslaves them to doctrines which are purely irrational.

Read this:

"Marx was making a structural functionalism argument about religion, and particularly about organized religion.[3][4] Marx believed that religion had certain practical functions in society that were similar to the function of opium in a sick or injured person: it reduced people's immediate suffering and provided them with pleasant illusions which gave them the strength to carry on. Marx also saw religion as harmful, as it prevents people from seeing the class structure and oppression around them, thus religion can prevent the necessary revolution.arx was making a structural functionalism argument about religion, and particularly about organized religion.[3][4] Marx believed that religion had certain practical functions in society that were similar to the function of opium in a sick or injured person: it reduced people's immediate suffering and provided them with pleasant illusions which gave them the strength to carry on. Reflecting on the above statements, its beginning to get clear why Nigeria is the way it is- highly religious, yet highly undeveloped

Politics / Re: On Day 3 Of Siege, Police Fire Tear-gas Canisters Into Melaye's House by Augustine1122(m): 7:40pm On Dec 30, 2018
Ebullience:
As the siege enters the third day, policemen keeping vigil at the house of Senator Dino Melaye in Abuja fired tear-gas canisters into his compound on Sunday.

The policemen were said to have fired several shots of the canisters with the view to forcing out the senator, whom they believe is hiding inside the building.

Officers of the Nigerian Police Force had invaded the house of the senator on Friday to effect his arrest over allegations he was involved in the shooting of an officer in July 2018.

Electricity supply to his house was also cut off on Saturday.

It was gathered that neighbours living within the area were not spared, as many of them inhaled the tear-gas, and had difficulties breathing. The entire atmosphere was also said to have been enveloped in thick smoke emanating from the house. The incident has led to confusion in the area.

The Police have blocked the entire Shanga Street in Maitama, where the house is located, and prevented many residents from gaining access to their houses. Residents of the area have decried the presence of the policemen, stating that it is an affront on their fundamental human rights. Both human and vehicular movement in the area have been restricted, as only residents with proper identification are allowed into the area.

The house directly behind Melaye's has also been taken over by the Police in the attempt to prevent him from escaping through the fence. Journalists covering the siege were chased away from the area.

The lawmaker's brother, Moses Melaye, had raised the alarm that the Police may have perfected a plan to plant ammunition in the house to implicate him.

At the time of this report, the whereabouts of the senator could not be ascertained, but he has promised to surrender himself to the Police.

But, right now I'm 27yrs old, it seems all my hard works spiritually are hindered by a sex demon who make love to me occasionally in dreams. Help me, I have fasted and prayed over this sex in dreams. But it seems not to be working. Please Help me. On my ministry, I'm confuse on what next to do.

Religion / Re: The Bible Is Also A Book Of Fables, Reply To Albhagdadi by Augustine1122(m): 9:27pm On Dec 25, 2018
Emperorempower:
So I came across a thread on front page by one alBHAGDADI, replying to Daddy Freeze' Critism of Christian celebration of Christmas.

So here is my reply to you alBHAGDADI;

=>who wrote the bible, God or Man?

=>How did Christmas emerge?

=>After reading your write up, I couldn't spot any part which traces the origin of Christmas, So like free said?, where did the nonsense come from?

=>The bible is a book of fables, true or false?
What does fable mean?, simply put is fable is a collection of forklores and myths?

So are there myths in the bible?
Yes, see then below.
1. Creation of the world=>Classical myth.
2. Serpent speaks to Eve => Myth.
3. Wife of Cain=>Myth.
4. Conception of Christ => Myth.
5. Death and resurrection of Jesus=> Myth.
6. The book of Revelation is all myths and forrklore.

So the bible is a Book of fable?.

The bible were originally written in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, meaning they were written by Jewish and Greek historians too.

*Religion is a box, it segregates us to one-sided opinion*

Now think outside that *box and answer the question.

How did Christmas celebration started.?
You can quote your bible if any part states how Christmas celebration started.

MiddleDimension:
mods, please put this on the front page so that freeze may see it and comment on it.

the fact remains that angels celebrated the first Christmas in history.

luke 2: 8 - 20

The Shepherds and the Angels

8There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid, 10but the angel said to them, “Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. 11This very day in David's town your Savior was born—Christ the Lord! 12And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13Suddenly a great army of heaven's angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God:

14“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!”
15When the angels went away from them back into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us.”

16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger. 17When the shepherds saw him, they told them what the angel had said about the child. 18All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said. 19Mary remembered all these things and thought deeply about them. 20The shepherds went back, singing praises to God for all they had heard and seen; it had been just as the angel had told them.

and as for the day, Bible says that whatsoever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven.

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.
