"Saying Nigerian Youth are Lazy by the President is Shameful"

One is said to be lazy, if he/she is unwilling to do work, make an effort, or use energy.

This cannot be said of the Nigerian youth who strive daily to make ends meet in the face of unemployment, underemployment, hardships, and so on.

There are very few jobs available in a country of more than 40m youth. Thousands of youth are seen applying to fill job vacancies of just 10 positions.
Thousands of youth have lost their jobs in the last 3 years under this dispensation.

Nigerian youth are inclined to work, they make effort by getting education/vocational training, they can not be termed "lazy".

Before somebody calls the Nigerian youth lazy, they should first provide adequate jobs, business opportunities, skill acquisition programs, among others.
If and only when these opportunities are available and the youth refuse to make good use, can they be tagged "lazy".

As a hardworking Nigerian youth, I feel slighted by the President's statement and join other Nigerian youth to say, "we are not lazy".

Yucee.

CrimeRe: Benue Group Blows Hot As Youths Kill Soldier, Bury Him In Naka by authority2006(m): 8:50am On Apr 20, 2018
owukpa:
The Benue Proactive Initiative, a civil society group has condemned in strong terms what it tagged as the barbaric, wicked and malicious killing of a personnel of the Nigerian Army in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of the State on Wednesday.

Report had it that some youths in Naka had attacked troops, who were on a peace-keeping mission in the area, thereby triggering reprisals from the army.

Reacting to the incident through a statement issued on Thursday night, Comrade Terkaa Jam, Convener, BPI, said the unfortunate incident was highly regrettable and condemnable.

Jam noted the soldiers deployed to Benue State on Peace keeping have been making frantic efforts to curtail the incessant crisis between herders and farmers in the country.

He said, “We wish to boldly attest to the fact that until last night when these restive youths decided to kill and bury an officer after disarming him, the people have had a very cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army and do appreciate all their efforts towards restoring peace to the various communities in the state.

“We understand that these acts were carried out by miscreants whose past time is cheap drugs and have nothing to offer the society and regrettable that this led to the burning down of houses by the soldiers who had once conducted themselves peacefully. As much as we submit that the anger was well understood, it is our desire that the military does not turn its table against us or stop being of immense assistance to us because of these criminal elements.

“The Benue Proactive Initiative wishes to make it abundantly clear that the action of these few disgruntled elements in the state doesn’t represent our relationship with the military neither does it portray our appreciation of their numerous sacrifices to the peace project in Benue State. It is therefore clear that the actions of the youths were aimed at jeopardizing the peace gradually returning to the local government.

“We extend our condolence to the President and Commander-in-Chief, the Nigerian Army and families of the deceased over the unfortunate incident, and also call on them to halt any action that may demonstrate the bitterness of the Nigerian Army and its Personnel towards the people.”

You don't know the value of what you have until you lost it. Many youth in that community will be extrajudicially killed while it will take some many years to regain freedom, innocent ones for that matter.

So sad. This could have happened to anyone.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi should just wait for karma. It has happened to people like him who defended criminalities in their prime in the past. Situations where their own sons or daughters also became victims of extrajudicial killings at a time that they had exited the force and were also powerless to do anything about it.
We're all this poo together because, it is the kind of society we're building for our children.

So, are you saying he's joking with his ill health? When Buhari said he was sick and needed medical vacation in the uk< you guys said it was a joke and if at all he was sick, he should have been treated back home. What happened subsequently? Buhari spent months instead of weeks with scary, near-bone look. If somebody says he's sick with a proof from his doctor who understands him better, you do not doubt it. It's only in Nigeria lives of human beings are worthless.
He had lied before, now I know that you didn't know. He went to the PDP national convention after he approached the court to travel out on medical tourism.
This medical drama this time around is just about his reaching out to the FG that he wanted to enter into plea bargaining which was turned down by the FG because he himself had turned down the opportunity in the past.
If his defence council starts their defence today, it will be just a matter of time before he's sent to the prison. He knows that. Don't be fooled by Metuh.

Why am I not surprised?

It is clear that Buhari and his cabal of idiots masterminded this inglorious act of treason - by sanctioning the invasion of the Senate Chambers by thugs. Those of us who visit the National Assembly Complex periodically know the super tight 'Eye Service' security around the place, which means that it is impossible to just enter there, snatch the mace, and escape without challenge - unless the security agencies DELIBERATELY looked the other way in response to an 'order from above'.

Since the Agege thug senator is supposedly representing Buhari's interest and fighting for Buhari in the Senate, we know that he had Buhari's backing to orchestrate such a shameful act of treason. We also know that nothing would happen to him.

1. A suspended senator resumes plenary because he felt his suspension was illegal (based on legal advice) and not because a court of law says so.

2. Some of his colleagues who are in the know of the plot protected him from ejection from the chamber

3.... and from nowhere, some guys emerged and cart away the symbol of authority of the senate without any iota of resistance from anyone, including the security agents

4. He was rumoured to have been arrested but it now turns out that he was merely escorted away for safety reasons.

The movie is interesting and the directors ' in the ROCK' are entertaining. We look forward to the next episode.
I didn't know that court was approached before suspending him for expressing his views!

1.I know about Edhi....(the late great pakistani philantrophist)...he certainly lived in poverty...because he used his money to help others. Our pastors could learn to do same.

2.At the same time, let's say that pastor X sells his private jet(which by the way, I THINK THEY SHOULD DO....) it would only privide some funding...for a few years .Especially when one has to expand the university's facilties.

Keep in mind that running costs in Nigerian unviersites are higher than anywhere else. They often times have to pay for their power, their water, etc...because we don't have good supporting infrastructure.
He bought it from the tithe money, people who contributed that one are still contributing now.

If fees were not high in church schools like covenant u, Redeemer's, Babcock, etc it would be very difficult to pay salaries, build new facilities, expand, etc.

Also, all those old mission schools were subsidised by Tithes of foreign church members and voluntary donations.and they were not free.

And yes, I am no fan of prosperity gospel. Funding education however is a whole new discussion

If you set up a school, someone has to pay for it.and since most church schools are not sponsored by government, it has to be fees.

Modified...The fact that i support high fees in public and private schools does not mean that I think that Pastor and Father in the Lord is good to drive big car and big plane.High fees is basically how staff get money to be paid their salaries, and so on. It is the sad fact that education is expensive.[/b]
The issue is: why taking money from the poor to build a university since their children wouldn't be able to afford the fees? In case you didn't know, those pastors actually encouraged their members to donate to the buildings of those universities.
