My grievance and that of others who applied for the Dangote Graduate Truck Officer Scheme (cement firm) almost a year ago goes like this:
We applied last year June and they started calling people for training/screening and documents verification up till October 2015.
By September, a company called BCI (Background Check Information) was contracted by Dangote Cement Plc to do background check on the applicants and they started the check September 2015. They have finished this but are still treating pockets of cases like omissions and misplacement.
Two months ago, Dangote Cement started to call successful applicants for induction in batches. The first batch were 200 applicants on the list sent from Lagos state headquarters known as Marble House to Obajana in Kogi state but the people in charge inflated the number to 230 by slotting in their relatives. This got back to the top management and the exercise was cancelled and it also led to the transfer of the man in charge popularly known as Mr Francis to other post. After which a lady known as Kemi was put in charge.
About three weeks ago, the then first batch of 200 applicants were re-invited but not on a single day. They split them into 30 applicants per day for induction. The induction for them was concluded with an assurance that the second batch would be called within one week of the first batch induction. Then secret recruitments started like a joke until it was confirmed by numerous applicants who also benefited from the underground dealings.
This is how it started: Firstly they said that out of 200 first batch applicants invited for induction, some didn't come and they were preparing supplementary lists of the first batch. But this supplementary list was not made public, it was being given to those who either have insiders at Dangote Cement or those who could go to Marble House in Lagos state. These people were not being made to pass through any induction like the first batch. Just go to Marble House in Lagos (Dangote headquarters), collect your documents and employment forms, take it to Ibese in Ogun state for enrollment and you just become an employee just like that.
Initially we thought it was ordinary first batch supplementary list as they claimed until one of our guys in the whatsapp group we created for this job informed us that people who didn't pass through training like us are coming to Marble House from different states to collect employment forms based on connection. The second batch that they promised would be called within a week of first induction are still waiting, yet quite large number of people are being given employment forms on daily basis to become employees without streess. They sit permanently on the official schedule of batches to induction but busy recruiting their own people.
Some applicants in our whatsapp group who have benefited from this backdoor recruitment process didn't want us to tell the media because they feared that it might lead to the cancellation of the whole exercise but why not. The process had been hijacked and tainted.

People are confused about this subsidy removal and reintroduction. Subsidy was removed because landing cost was fell bellow N86 but now the landing cost has gone above N86, that explains reintroduction. Its previous removal had nothing to do with economic policy. Buhari government doesn't appear like one that will remove subsidy permanently. So ,wailing wailers should stop confusing themselves.
