@Bacholder Hey bro, I absolutely share your passion and believe on this thread. However, as much as I would want to agree with u I want u to know that solar technology is still not full blown and so is most renewable technology. I'm sure you know this technology is for the future as it is yet to take over from fossil fuelled energy even worldwide the technology is still being used as secondary source. One challenge with most renewable is their size and as the renewable energy technology is evolving, engineers are looking at means of miniaturizing it to make it widely acceptable. And I think your analysis is done from a narrow perspective as there is a lot of other factors to consider. I want to believe u were once here before u moved to the UK and u know what our dwellings look like. A very large portion of the population live below the poverty line, a good number of whom live in the popular "face-me-i-face-u apartment most of which are clustered together. Tell me how a solar panel will work in this kind of situation. If need to get a solar panel of say 2KVA rating to power ur dwelling, I'm sure u know what size of panel were talking about here, it'll take a lot more space than even the owner cope with. Initial cost is another issue. Like already pointed out it will be easier for an average poor Nigerian to get like 20K to buy a gen set 4 which he needs a very small space to keep and subsequent maintenance cost is within reach than a solar panel which a space large enough that he can't afford and whose initial cost is so high. However, I share ur believe solar technology is it; it is the future, it is clean, no pollution of any sorts but at the moment based on these factors and several others it is expensive. Perhaps there may be sometin I'm missing pls I am eager to hear it but I think our best shot in Nigeria today is Nat. gas |

I hail everyone in the house o! First of all I would like to say u guys re wondaful. This is my 1st cntrbtn on dis thread tho av bin followin it 4 a while, to be honest this is a gold mine and I must say RESPECT to El Matteo & every1 else cos we av a lot of ppl out dea dat are giving out irrelevant & unrealistic info even for a lot of moni. Thinkin about wonderful & selfless guys like u humbles me, so well done all. Havin said all of these I'd like us to look again at one oda area & dats EXPORT. Of course I am not sayin importatn is bad, just like we've all seen it's a gud way out of unemployment & u can make gud moni out of it. But come to think of it china & all of dis countries tend 2 gain frm it economically dan us as a country. Remember d bane of the eco & unemployment probs we are havin apart 4rm corruption is because we are a consuming economy, we do less of export dan import. Bliv me we av a gud no of local prdts that can be devlpd & exportd and wit dis we tend 2 make more moni, creat more jobs and improve our country. So as we'r lukin at importatn let's also consider exportatn; hw it is done, wot can b exportd etc. Maybe we shld open a new thread for exportatn. Think about this. Once again I great everybody, u all are wonderfull God bless u God bless Nigeria!!! Thanks 6 Likes |

Jucol: I would rather say that a good number of accidents are caused by over speeding and driving too close to the vehicle ahead. This results to wrong judgement or assessment of TOTAL STOPPING DISTANCE( Reaction distance + braking distance). When the driver applies the brakes in a danger situation, and the vehicle fails to stop contrary to the driver's expectations, the driver may think that brake failure was the reason for the accident. Understanding these basics could be very helpful. The reaction distance is the distance the car travels from when the driver perceives a danger to when the driver's brain tells him/her what action to take. This could take a fraction of a second. The braking distance is the distance the car travels from when the driver starts applying the brakes. This also could take a fraction of a second.(the driver's concentration, level of intoxication, condition of the vehicle's brakes and tyres , and road condition may increase the time).this is quite insightful please keep it coming |

A good number of car accident on our roads today result from break failure. Break failure does happen, even sometimes when you do regular tune-ups. Sharing our respective experiences on the subject, the rest of us can be better informed. Considering every possible scenarios, let's share knowledge. |

Think about this; you wake up from your bed one morning, as usual get dressed for work, make your way to the garage, and get in your car. At the push of a button the next thing you hear is “good morning boss, where are we heading” (that’s your car talking to you) to which you reply “the office”. A little while after that, without touching the wheel perhaps sitting in the owner’s corner working on your laptop you find yourself safely arriving at your office. That’s autonomous car! They are designed to drive themselves. They rely on real-time data feed from GPS systems to pinpoint their locations and find their destinations. Equipped with sensors, video cameras, actuators and likes, they are fully aware of their environments, can see obstacles meters ahead and maneuver themselves in the traffic. Again, would you buy or ride in such a vehicle? |

I completely agree with you. That's why I said. "It depends in the conditions".[/quote] i think i absolutely agree with you. FWD or RWD? it is a function of what you are looking for. if what you are looking for is a compact car with a reasonable engine size and some space then FWD is it. However, if you need some more power, speed, heavy-duty features, RWD all the way. |

Torque steer is a drawback that is peculiar with front wheel drives at top speed. when on top speed, the car becomes unstable because the same wheel (front wheels) that is driving the car is also steering at the same time. however, with RWD it's no problem. |

I would like to throw this discussion open for education and knowledge sharing for automobile enthusiasts. I think there is need to educate ourselves on topics like these. What do you think? |
