SportsHD:He tried to resist the imperial/colonial high handedness and the pilfering natives resources to enrich and develop European industries at the start of the industrial age. He had nonopoly/controlled of the Palm Oil market which the colonialist detested particularly the Royal Nigerian Company a British chartered company. He was said to be one of the richest African of that Era and an astute businessman which the imperialist found baffling. He was also one of the earliest African who saw through the heart of the wicked white man...so he resisted them and they didn't like "him". He was indeed a great man. I don't know why history is not thought in Nigerian school. How do we discover ourself when we don't know where we are coming from... |
LORD have mercy upon me. Wow...a must read! Many thanks for this piece. |
Palm oil is one of the main reasons British colonized Southern Nigeria formerly known as the "Oil palm protectorate. They initially took slave but later discovered the secret of magic fluid palm oil from slaves taken from this areas. During the Industrial revolution, they came back to bomb bombed and invade anywhere palm oil is found in large quantities and banished their kings. Some of the nation states that fell to the palm oil seeking invaders were the great city of Benin and Opobo. The kings of this states were also banished and their kingdom usurped by this blood thirsty British Colonials. |

Broke girls are freaks who are terribly entitled. In summary.... Don't roll with broke/lazy ladies who has nothing to offer or contribute aside their body into a relationship...avoid them like plague...these among women are the downfall of good men. |

This is a good buy, with the border closure Curtis Plc can easily win the local cable and wire market and the acquisition of Adswitch Plc indicates the diversity plan of the company, repositioning for the flood gate of profit for the company and higher dividend and bonus to the shareholders. In expanding the business, I'm strategically positioned in the Midwest to market and sale to the fast developing frontiers. Lastly the stock Curtis Plc is a recommended buy on the floor of the Nigerian stock exchange. |
India can't be tossed around. The population of India is three times the US and they have also proven to the world that the sovereignty of India isn't contestable. In the area of technology, it is clear and obvious they aren't left behind. India is consistently pushing and gaining reputation by doing things in their own way, with good results to show for it. They are a super power in their own right. Incredible India ! |
Equatorial Guineas President Teodoro Obiang Nguema will celebrate forty years in power on Saturday, highlighting his status as Africas longest-serving head of state. Since he seized control in a 1979 military coup, rights groups have described Obiang Nguema, 77, as one of the continents most brutal and corrupt dictators. In his most recent reelection, in 2016, he won more than 90 percent of the vote, according to the official tally. Opposition groups said the vote was highly flawed. RUTHLESS His 40th anniversary in power will be marked by a series of events in three main cities, including Bata, the economic capital, Mongomo, the presidents hometown, and Djibloho -- a new city built with oil-money in the middle of the jungle. Amnesty International last month called on Obiang Nguemas government to take steps to "respect, protect, promote and fulfil human rights of everyone in the country". But critics say there are few signs the Equatorial Guinea will open up. A survivor of multiple coup and assassination attempts, Obiang Nguema has cracked down ruthlessly on opponents and suspected plotters in the former Spanish colony. OPPOSITION In December 2017, the government reported thwarting a coup allegedly orchestrated by foreign exiles. In June this year, a court handed down sentences of up to 96 years to more than 130 people convicted of being involved. The biggest opposition group, the Citizens for Innovation (CI) party, was banned by authorities in February 2018. Twenty-one CI members, including the partys sole member of parliament, were subsequently sentenced to 30 years jail for "sedition, public disorder, attacks on authority and serious bodily harm". PRESIDENTS SON Obiang Nguema is believed to be preparing his son, Teodorin, to succeed him as president. Teodorin was promoted to the position of vice president in 2016 and is in charge of defence and security. With a reputation for a playboy lifestyle, Teodorin received a three-year suspended jail term from a Paris court after being convicted of siphoning off public money to buy assets in France. He was accused of spending more than 1,000 times his official annual salary on a six-storey mansion in a posh part of the French capital, a fleet of fast cars and artworks, among other assets. He was also given a suspended fine of 30 million euros ($33.5 million, Sh3.35 billion). In 2019, Swiss prosecutors dropped charges of financial wrongdoing against Teodorin but confiscated 25 luxury cars as part of the case. Last October, he was promoted from colonel directly to division general, without passing through the normal intermediary rank of brigade general. The following month, he presided over a cabinet meeting for the first time. CORRUPTION The tiny West African nation is one of the continents top petroleum producers and has a population of 1.2 million. Equatorial Guinea struck oil in 1995 and that has helped give the country one of the worlds highest GDP per capita ratios, although rights groups point out most Equatorial Guineans live in squalor. The country is regularly cited by NGOs as one of the most corrupt in the world. It ranks 141st out of 189 countries on the UNs 2018 Human Development Index, and 172nd out of 180 on Transparency Internationals Corruption Perceptions Index. Obiang Nguema has regularly displayed his contempt for what he characterised as "Western" criticism of his country. Lalastica. |

Their target market is the Nigerian youth corpers, many of our them will adopt it as the new fashion statement. This were the last of Legendary Nigerian youths... when youths cough the "dicktatory" govt catches cold...ask Abacha and IBB dem see ween! The youth of those days didn't dress like gals and listened to 2pac, Snoop dog, Dre ,Joe ,Fela ,Danmariya Jos.... etc. They don't have interests in converting others wealth through tricks nor steal pants. They wanted goodness for everyone and for Nigeria to be conducive for everyone irrespective of tribe or language. That's the philosophy and principles Nigerian youths should adhere to. Up Bendel!!! Bendel insurance football club back from relegation after eleven years. This news brought back sweet memories !!! That team used to be one of the favourites in the late 70s and early 80s. Then the Nigerian and Ghanian football league was the bomb. Although then I was child but I could Still feel the electrical, happy and competitive atmosphere,it was like Nigerian super eagle playing every weekend. Those were the good old days, even Lagos was beautiful and everybody was just happy been a Nigerian. The economy was booming and there was peace and tranquillity in the nation, people were traveling to Europe to do legit business and buying goods to come and sell back at home .We were respected abroad and Giant in Africa while at it giving the apartheid South African regime "better hit"(South Africans! respect and appreciate Nigerians because our county did a lot for the freedom you enjoy. Say no to xenophobic act). The first President I recognized in my child memory was Alhaji Shehu Shagari who was my favorite actor on almost all programs featured daily on all National television Authority's channels" The NTA News". But guess who truncated democracy in those good old days? The change "saint" in power who is seeking a another term in office now as a democratical elected President, exactly the intent when they sought power in the guise that the Politicians of the well educated and technocratic second republic were corrupt and inept, should I mention that he also came as a saint to save Nigeria. What goes around comes around his brother got him a year or do later. This people scattered our nation and got Nigerians nearer to GOD. This is evident in the numerous churches and mosques all over the country. We don't have a nation again nah only GOD we get now. GOD abeg Epp us for Nigeria. |
post=74368738:. Is the remittances part of the funds "funtua group and in-laws plc" using to buy banks, communication companies etc. a company that can't boost of 2k in their balance sheet before the mother company APC chop power...lol |
Alhaji Shehu Shagari was the first President of Nigeria my small sense registered while I was a post toddler and it was organised country with everything going smoothly,my growing up days in Ayilara Street,Ojuelegba, of Lagos was filled with sweet memorable experiences in the early 80s. All this fantasy was abruptly brought to an end by a very clueless illiterate military junta along with is idiotic errand boy who barked at Nigerians and got them afraid of even questioning them while they run amok destroying every credibility we had in Nigeria. I still don't know why they have not been tried in the court of law for truncating the admistration of Alhaji Shehu Shagari GCFR. RIP SIR. LAFFFFFIIIIIAAAAAA ALHAJI!!!!!!! |
