One Man Mopol by Awe Samuel Olutayo

Chapter 4
We got settled, made our tent and group ourselves into five groups headed by a lieutenant and a second lieutenant each. Temitope, a young aspiring guy who just graduated from the Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA and I headed group Beta. A total number of 150 able soldiers were in each group. In group Beta which I happened to be the leader was filled with lots of young guys like me with few old men who are as old as having me as their last child but are still very strong and fit for the mission ahead. All the five groups was headed by Captain Rotimi Okonjo Musa, a disciplined and well respected man. How he manage to have those nmames from the three major tribes in Nigeria is a story for another time.
Our first mission was to go to their territory to create awareness of our presence. I gathered my group and as their leader, i gave them a little speech to boost their morale and also filled them in about what we will do. The group Alpha will go inside their territory to cause commotion. It is in that state of commotion that we, the group Beta will come in. The mission was to start nby 2000hours on the dot. Which means that, fifteen minutes before the time, each group must be in their position. When it is exactly 2000hours, we invaded their territory. We killed and got killed but the Boko Haram sect was on the losing side which means that we are on the winning ground. When the Boko Haram sect saw this, they ran to their base while we retreat and went back to our base to jubilate our first victory because we only lose 20 of our men in total. During the jubilation, I met a guy who was in my group, his name is Abeeb, he was a sergeant, a hausa man. We bonded so easily and talked about many things ranging from politics to football to this boko haram issue and little about our family background. That was when i got to know that we share the same passion which is to bring down Shekau and his men down and because of that, we bacame friends and we device a plan together.

Sorry guys, i will be offline for a while now due to some pressing issue. Am deeply sorry guys

One Man Mopol by Awe Samuel Olutayo Chapter 3 After a year, I was promoted as a full lieutenant officer. During this time, some report got to us that the Islamic Terrorist sect popularly called Boko Haram are gaining full ground at the northern side, so more soldiers are needed to be recruited to fight the Terrorists. I was among the lucky soldiers recruited to the northern side. I told my parents about the transfer and they wore a gloomy face immediately, my mother started crying but i urged them all to stop crying and stay strong and they should also include me in their prayers because am doing this for them and for my country. I left my parents and went straight to Susan's house, luckily for me, I met her and her parents and I told them the situation and immediately their happy mood changed into a sad mood. Susan started crying and I consoled her promising to return back safely even though I know that my coming back will require a miracle. I also promised her that when I return, we are doing our marriage immediately because our families are aware of our relationship. I left their house and went back to the barrack where I got myself prepared. I went to the arsenal in the barrack where I picked some ammunitions and two bullet proof vest and some other things I will be needing, although we will be provided with all those stuffs that I picked but I have my reasons for picking them. After all preparations have been done on my side, I took my duffel bag, mount it on my back and set to go and meet my people so as to leave at once. We all got ready for our journey and the driver drove towards the death zone - Sambisa for forest. Sambisa forest is a forest named after a village beside the forest called Sambisa which is located at the Northeastern part of Nigeria and Southwestern part of Chad Basin which is about 60km far from Maiduguri the capital of Borno State. After a long journey, we got to Maiduguri in Borno State, alighted from bus, went to the army base present in Maiduguri to report oursleves, got some ammunitions along with us and also rest a little since it remains like 60km to get to the war zone. After resting for a while, we embarked on our journey to the war zone. As we moved towards our destination, we passed through some settlements like Bama, Konduga which had been deserted. Alot of buildings has been destroyed which made me wonder what type of human are bastardious set of people who call themselves Boko Haram, they have no ounce of human feelings at all. We got to Sambisa village, as I sighted what has been done in the once lively village according to what I've heard, I was devastated, angry and filled with fury wishing to get that idiotic being called Shekau and chop off his head from his neck, and I swear to bring down Shekau myself and hand him over to the law. Will I be able to achieve this? Meet me in the next chapter!

Chapter Two
After spending few weeks at home, i went to where I was posted which is Lagos as a second lieutenant officer. Life as a military officer in Lagos was cool and splendid. No wahala, everything was peaceful, so there is no need to carrying gun just to maintain peace and order. As a man of action that I am, I hate any dull moment without me showing my skills at my chosen profession. So whenever am given a short break, I exercise myself on some stuffs like physical combat and also go on a work out in a nearby bush to do some trainings. I do all this just to relieve me of boredom, am the type that always stay indoor excper if my presence is need in the hospital present in the barrack. Am still a bachelor as at then though my family has been pestering me to get married since am buoyant enough but I won't bulge because am not ready to get myself entangled with burdens that am not prepared for but something happened when I met this lady though we met in a not too pleasanr way but I felt attached to her at the sight of her, you can call it 'love at first sight'. She looked innocent, petite and healthy, her name is Susan. I got to know her during one of my numerous work out in the bush. As I was approaching the bush, I was hearing some faint voice but I didn't concentrate much on it thinking I was only hallucinating not until when I got deeper into the bush that I know I wasn't hallucinating, it was the voice of a lady, curiosity got the better part of me and i moved close, i got a glimpse of what was about to happen, I saw two guya trying to rape the lady, I was so furious and without thinking, I launch an attack on them. I shor the guy that is already on top of the lady struggling with his belt and as a sharp shooter, the bullet hit the guy on neck and he dropped dead immediately with blood gushing out of the bullet wond. The second guy looked up in horror and gaze back at his friend who is already dead and was filled with fear. Immediately, he made an attempt to run but as a trained military, have calculated his next move and as he made an attempt to run, I shot him at his ankle making his leg got paralyzed immediately and wincing in pain as well. When the lady saw me, she was terrified thinking am against her also but when I smiled at her and tell her am here to take her to safety, she felt relaxed a bit. I treated the lady with the first aid i brought along with me before movin toward the guy who was wincing in pain, I pummeled the guy until he found it hard to breath, i stopped beating him and treated him as well because I need him alive. I got hold of him, put him in the booth of my car while the lady tagged along. I drove off immediately to the barrack where i got the lady admitted for proper check up and got the guy detained in our custody for further interrogation. By the time I got back to where the lady was, she was okay and fit to go back home, I offered to drive her home which she rejected vehemently but due to my persistent, she accepted and I drove her home. Her parent thanked me for rescuing their daughter and asked for what I do for a living which I proudly replied them that am a military man. We introduced ourselves properly and that was when I got to know that the lady's ame i rescued iS Susan. We exchanged our numbers and that was how our relationship started.

ONE MAN MOPOL by Awe Samuel Olutayo ***Chapter One*** Old age is good when you are being surrounded by your loved ones especially your grandchildren. "Grandpa, tell us how you got the nickname ONE MAN MOPOL?" my last grandchild of 3years old asked in his babyish voice. "Hmmm, it's a long story dear, but i will surely tell you all" I replied him. ... My name is Olusammy, while i was young, lots of girls like to associate themselves with me because am somehow handsome so they say but i don't really care about how I look though... "Yes Grandpa, you are handsome. Even at this your age, you are still looking good. I can kill to have someone as cute as you are as my boyfriend" my grand-daughter of 6years interrupted me. "Shut up, you are too young to be thinking of killing someone talkless of having boyfriend" I cautioned her. "Aww grandpa, am not too young jhor, am already SIX years old" She replied emphazising her age. Gosh! Children of now a days are too sharp and stubborn and they never listen to correction. "Okay, have heard you, let me continue with my story" I said. ***************************** Right from my childhood, have always told my parent that i want to be a soldier, although they never took me serious. As I grew older, my passion to being a soldier grew greatly. I graduated from secondary school with good result that can give me free entrance to any institution of my choice. When it's time to register for Joint Admission Matriculation Board JAMB, I took the form and filled in Nigeria Defence Academy NDA. I sat for the JAMB Exam and with God on my side, I passed with good scores and took the NDA form, fill in the necessary things. After everything has been done, i was admitted but my parent never gave me there consent which made me feel dejected. I locked myself indoor for days. I only come out for my food. My parent took me to one civilian school in which after everything has been done, i was given admission which i rejected using my own veto-power. That year, my JAMB score was wasted! The second year, same thing happened, they refused to give their consent. But on the third year, they granted me my request. I sat for both the JAMB and NDA exam and i passed excellently. The day i was given admission to study in my choice of institution which is Nigeria Defence Academy, i was overwhelmed with joy. On the day am to travel, my family waved me goodbye. My father hugged me, patted me on my back and wish me well, my mum was crying and I was smiling not because am a wicked child but because am about to fulfil my dream, though I will miss them all especially my Mum. Finally, I embarked on the journey to where I believe my destiny lies. The journey was nice and fun filled as i met lots of people, most especially the Hausas and some Igbos going to trade their goods. I met a yoruba guy in the bus whose name is Desmond, we bonded so well that one would think we've known each other for a long time. After a while, he reached where he was going leaving alone in the bus. After his departure, the bus felt lonely because am the only yoruba in the bus. Few hours later, we reached Kaduna. I got to the entrance of my new school where am to fulfil my dreams and smiled satisfactorily. I walked through the entrance, passed some security checkpoints where my credentials was been checked to confirm if am truly admitted and directed me to portal to allocate me my own hostel and some other stuffs. After some hours, i got settled in my hostel and associate myself with the guys i met there, we chatted togther as if we were long lost friends. Days passed, months passed, years passed with lots of rigorous trainings, thorough lectures, seminars upon seminar just to make us the soldier we are meant to be. Atlast, our passing our parade POP came, out of 150 students that was admitted in our first year, only 90 of us did the POP, the remaining 60 were the combination of those that ran away due to the fact that they can't withstand the training anymore and those that died during the training. "Atlast I conquered" was the song coming out of my mouth every seconds. I was so happy not because am gonna be a second lieutenant officer in the next few hours but because my family also came to grace the occasion. My mum was smiling, grinning from ear to ear. I recieved lots of award, ranging from the best in my department, one of the best when it comes to handling gun, the best in physical combat etc. Within a twinkle of an eye, the occasion was over. The fact that am now a certified military doctor and also an officer gave me joy that has no bound. I followed my family home where we celebrated it in a grand style and i was welcomed home. My mum was happy, the fact that she is now "Iya Soja" gave her joy, i could sense it. On Sunday, we did a thanksgiving in church, i wore my military uniform ro church which gained me alot of attention and respect in church. After the church service, i said once again "Atlast, I conquered!"

A short story tittled THE GHOUL
Written by Awe Samuel Olutayo(Awesome55)

The wind blowing incessantly as if it want to rain causing the trees to oscillate. The movement of the tree can be likened to someone bowing his head to worship his
king, although myth has it that, when trees are oscillating in such form, they are worshipping their creator(GOD). There was a loud thunder that strikes the earth as if
rapture want to take place or is it that, rain want to fall? The deafening silence dominate the middle of night even makes things worse, the only sound that could be heard was the chirping of some nocturnal birds.
As if on cue, a loud thunder strikes again causing the whole land to reverberate but not a single drop of rain fall down. Suddenly, the rustling of dry leaves and a gentle footstep was heard producing a faint sound but the sound was heard loud and clear due to the serenity of the environment. Who owns that footsteps? A man in hood was seen, he is about 5ft, few inches tall and has a backpack mounted firmly on his back in a way a mother straps her child to her back, the man was with a shovel also, to do what in the middle of the night? Hmmmm....
The man got to a point where he put down his shovel, picked out some tools from his backpack. He dismantled the iron bars that was used to shield something, picked up his shovel and started digging. On that same spot he was digging, a very rich woman was buried there with lots of possessions
like jewelries made of pure gold having 24karat and stack of money was buried with her as well, not in naira but in dollars
(what a waste of resources). As the man continue digging the grave, he stopped abruptly, smiled to himself and mutter some words to himself. He picked up his backpack and started packing all the possessions, starting with the jewelries to the rings, even the woman's costly cloth, packed it into his backpack and zipped it up. From the side of the backpack, he tool a baggo bag out of it and pack all the dollar currency he could find into the baggo bag. He mount his backpack on his back and took his shovel to cover the grave but he decided to adjust the woman normally. As he was doing so, the woman woke up and grabbed his neck and said in a hoarse voice "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY PROPERTY?"

This is my first story, so i will like to lots of comment, thanks

SAVE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS

1 Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.
Hark! ’tis a song of heaven
Borne in the sweetest voice,
Echoed by saints in spirit,
Making my heart rejoice.

Refrain:
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.

2 Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world’s temptations,
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
Only a few more tears.

Refrain:
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.

3 Jesus, my heart’s dear Refuge,
Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages
Ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience,
Wait till the night is o’er,
Wait till I see the morning
Break on the golden shore.

Refrain:
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul doth rest.

CONDOLENCE TO A DRUNK (Acrostic) Chiefly seated is a demon, lurked in a bottle Often calling for a caress. Nestled synapses then send you senseless signals
Daring you to yield to your own lust Only your pocket knows the mysteries of your money Letters of battered petals are your kids Evidently your savings are for the day’s old age;
Night –when you will be a king in the tavern. Chants of dreadful rhythm your lungs rant Encomium of union members blinds you To see your twinkling star nears its age
Oh how I wish you hear your kidney scream! Apparently you know well Down this aisle is a monster Ready to bring down your world Unless you repent.
Now I forsee birds singing lullabies upon your epitaph Knitting nests of sarcastic condolence thereupon.
