“No Gree For Anybody”, It erupted in 2024, evolving into a symbol of resilience, flooding social platforms with memes and posts that demanded attention.

Originating from Nigerian slang, the phrase, “No gree for anybody,” which surfaced sometime towards the end of last 2023 denote resistance against bullying, ignited discussions after police cautioned against its potential rebellious undertones.

Amidst Nigeria’s challenges, it morphed into a collective anthem for navigating adversity. Yet, police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi’s warning sparked a social media debate, deeming the seemingly innocuous phrase a potent and perilous slogan in the realm of security.

“The new slogan for 2023 and 2024 for our young ones is ‘No dey gree for anybody’. We have been informed by intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause problems across the country,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

“No dey gree for anybody is being seen as a normal talk, but in the security community, we have seen it as a very, very dangerous slogan,” Adejobi said.

Who Started No Gree For Anybody?
So, who lit the fuse for this whole “No Gree For Anybody” craze? It all started with Nigerian DJ Mims Agbaye. But there’s more to the story. The roots of this phrase go back to a gospel song by Sister Agatha Moses called ‘I No Go Gree’. The song didn’t use the exact words, but its message of hanging in there set the stage for the slogan.

In a Friday follow-up post,Adejobi emphasized the police’s role in advising on early warning signs of danger, urging Nigerians not to misuse the 2024 slogan.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has confirmed the death of two persons and 77 others injured in the Ibadan, Oyo State explosion.

He however attributed the incident to illegal miners storing explosives devices in the area.




The governor said that responders and state agencies have since been deep to the scene of the incident for thorough search and rescue operations, expressing condolences for the loss of life and property damage.

“We visited the scene of the explosion which occurred at about 7.44 pm yesterday, 16 January 2024 in Bodija, Ibadan,” the governor said.

“This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties. We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations.”

He added that preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that “illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast”.




According to PREMIUM TIMES reports, some victims of the incident have been admitted to various hospitals, including the University College Hospital (UCH).

In a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the government said there were various interpretations of the explosion, but that its cause has not been ascertained.

Mr Oyelade, however, assured residents that the state government was in control of the situation in the state.

Why Shell is selling Nigeria onshore oil business for $2.4 billion after 100 years
Shell has sealed a deal to divest its onshore business in Nigeria, marking a significant shift in the company’s century-long presence.

The $2.4 billion agreement sees the Renaissance consortium, comprising ND Western, Aradel Energy, First E&P, Waltersmith, and Petrolin, taking the reins of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).




Maintaining operational continuity, Shell emphasizes that the deal is structured to support the SPDC Joint Venture (SPDC JV), where SPDC holds a substantial 30% stake and operates across 18 oil mining leases for onshore and shallow water petroleum operations in Nigeria.

The SPDC JV includes partners like the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (55%), Total Exploration and Production Nigeria (10%), and Nigeria Agip Oil Company (5%).

Crucially, as part of the transition, SPDC’s dedicated workforce will seamlessly transition to the new ownership, ensuring continuity and expertise in the industry. Post-completion, Shell commits to continuing its support for the management of SPDC JV facilities, particularly those supplying feed gas to Nigeria LNG (NLNG), while retaining its 25.6% interest in NLNG outside the scope of this transaction.

Although divesting a significant onshore business, Shell’s presence in Nigeria remains substantial post-sale.




Three key businesses—Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (operating in the deepwater Gulf of Guinea), Shell Nigeria Gas (supplying gas to local industries and commercial customers), and Daystar Power Group (engaged in offering solar power solutions across West Africa)—will continue to operate independently.

While this move reflects Shell’s strategic realignment, it also coincides with Nigeria’s ambitious targets set by the oil and gas regulator to boost the country’s oil and condensate production to 2.6 million barrels per day by 2026. Despite being Africa’s leading oil exporter, Nigeria faces challenges such as declining production, attributed to issues like crude theft, pipeline vandalism, and industry underinvestment.

Shell’s transformative decision raises questions about the future dynamics of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and sets the stage for a new chapter in the country’s energy landscape.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially declared the commencement of registrations for the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with the registration window open from January 15 to February 24, 2024.

Direct entry (DE) applications and E-PIN vending will kick off on February 28 and conclude on March 28, 2024.

1. National Identification Number (NIN) is a prerequisite for application.

4. Statement of result is valid for registration within three years.

Adenuga, primarily known for his success in telecom and oil production, saw a significant rise in his net worth from $3.4 billion at the start of 2024 to $7.4 billion within 10 days.

The boost is credited to the reassessment of Globacom’s value, making it the third-largest operator in Nigeria with over 55 million subscribers.

Additionally, Adenuga’s oil exploration company, Conoil Producing, operates six oil blocks in the Niger Delta.
