Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam served as best man for a cook named Peter Anyiman at his wedding which held over the weekend at Our Lady Perpetual Help Cathedral, in Makurdi, Benue State.

Governor Suswan told guests at the wedding that he decided to serve as Anyiman's best man to honour him because of his commitment to his job. Anyiman has been as serving a cook for Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Michael Tumba in Abuja for over 18 years.

Anyiman expressed his delight at having his own state governor serving as his best man, saying he couldn't have wished for a better wedding gift.

Desperate to halt a probe into his finances, governor James Ibori tried to bribe former anti-corruption boss Nuhu Ribadu in 2007 with $15 million in cash in a bag so heavy one man alone could not lift it, Ribadu told a London court on Thursday.

Ribadu said he pretended to take the bribe because he wanted the cash as evidence to use against Ibori in a prosecution, but rather than keep the money for himself he had it taken straight to the Central Bank of Nigeria to be kept safe in a vault. Continue..



Ribadu told the court that about $1 billion flowed from federal government accounts into Delta State coffers during Ibori’s eight years in power, and he estimated Ibori had stolen or wasted more than half of that amount.

The charges to which Ibori pleaded guilty amount to the theft of about $80 million, but British prosecutors say that was only part of his total booty, which was kept hidden via a complex web of shell companies, offshore accounts and front men.

Ribadu, who was chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from April 2003 to December 2007, was giving evidence at a confiscation hearing in which prosecutors are seeking court orders to have Ibori’s assets seized.

Under Nigeria’s constitution, state governors enjoy immunity from prosecution but are limited to two terms in office. With the end of his second term looming in April 2007, Ibori was worried the EFCC were planning to prosecute him, Ribadu said.

“He was very desperate to terminate the investigation,” he told the court.
In late April 2007, a meeting was arranged between the two men at a “neutral place”, the house of Andy Uba, a close associate of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Ibori arrived at the house with several members of his staff and a very large black sack containing $15 million in cash. Ribadu said he watched as two of Ibori’s men lifted the heavy sack and handed it over to his own EFCC staff. “It was a bag that an individual could not carry alone,” he said.

The EFCC men drove the bag to the central bank where the money was counted and boxed into smaller containers. The court was shown photographs of the boxes of cash.

“I have given you money Nuhu, just give me my clearance,” Ribadu quoted Ibori as telling him after those events.

Instead, the EFCC continued to investigate Ibori’s affairs and had him arrested on corruption charges on December 12, 2007.

It will be recalled that the Delta state government had approached the court asking that the money belonged to the state government and should therefore be returned to the state. The EFCC are however opposed to the return of the money to the state.

The EFCC says that “that the said sum of $15 Million cannot be traced to any account owned or being operated by the Delta State Government or any of its agencies and officials”.

For those who don't know Antoine Dodson, he became an internet sensation in 2010 after his news interview about a bedroom intruder went viral online. (Google that video..it's hilarious)

So anyway, Antoine was open about his homosexuality for years until he renounced it back in May this year. Everyone thought he was just messing around but he announced yesterday that he is expecting a baby with his girlfriend. The identity of the girlfriend has not been revealed.

A 400-level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra, was arrested this week at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State, for ingesting 25 wraps of male condoms filled with cocaine.

32 year old Chizoba Nwabuwa arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight from Brazil when he tested positive to liquid cocaine, which weighed 1.250kg. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency officials say this is the first drug seizure to be made at the newly refurbished international airport.

NDLEA in a statement, said:

“The suspect excreted 25 wraps of a liquid substance that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1.250kg. This is the first drug seizure to be made at the airport; it is exciting because we have just commenced operations.”

The Fine and Applied Arts 400-level student said he agreed to carry the drugs because his cohorts promised him N500, 000 as compensation and he wanted to use the money to develop his art gallery. Chizoba said his handlers assured him that authorities will not be able to detect liquid cocaine, so he was confident. Well, they did and now he will be facing the full wrath of the law. Another crisis is brewing in Rivers State. Early this evening, the convoy of the governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi was prevented from using one of the two entrances to the Government House in Port Harcourt by a team of police. The governor's convoy was stopped by four truck loads of policemen as it made its way through the private gate of the governor's official residence. The policemen, led by several senior officers, claimed they were acting on orders from above.

After about 45 minutes of arguing, which included Governor Amaechi himself coming down from his car to speak with the policemen, the governor's convoy had not choice but to leave and take another road to access the main entrance into the Government House. See more photos after the cut...

Aparecido Castaldo, a retired stone cutter from Jundiai, Brazil has decided to marry his beloved Carmella, a goat. Because no Christian minister would agree to perform the marriage ceremony, the two will be wed by a known satanic leader, in the Church of the Devil.

We usually refer to “finding your calling” as getting in touch with your life purpose. But you may be called to do any number of things that may have nothing to do with your professional life. These types of callings tend to come up whenever you find yourself unable to make a decision.

Should you stay or should you go?

Should you follow your intuition or play it safe?

Should you take a leap of faith or stay on the cliff?

Decisions can be beastly, especially when the stakes are high. But you don’t have to make these decisions alone. I believe The Universe calls to us, guiding us to where we’re meant to be. In the beginning, this guidance will show up in subtle ways, like a thought or an idea that feels like a crazy idea. Then you might read something that feels like it was meant just for you, something that reinforces the crazy idea. Then that perfect book - the one you were SO supposed to read right now - falls off the shelf in front of you. Then you have a dream full of instructions, or you see a vision of something, or you hear a voice telling you what you need to do.

How You Know When You’re Being Guided

You may not recognize the guidance at first. You might not even notice it, and if you do, you might write it off as mere coincidence. But if you don’t pay attention to the first whisperings, then the signs from the Universe get more obvious. You may get physical symptoms because you’re not listening to the whispers. Things might start happening to rock you out of your comfort zone.

Things might even start to get really trippy. You bump into the person you need to be talking with in the middle of Central Park when neither of you even live in New York City. You’re talking on the telephone, confessing what you know you must do to a dear friend, and right when you share how scared you are, a walkie talkie voice interferes with the phone line and tells you you’re not alone. You find out that you and your mentor are being guided by a spirit guide who calls himself by the same name.

This is when you know you are being called. You’ve been given clear instructions. But you may not like the instructions you’re being given.

You Still Have Choice

Free will is a funny thing when it comes to spiritual guidance. I believe we are guided with “signs from the Universe,” and these signs are suggestions, recommendations even. But we don’t have to follow the guidance. We have free will, and we may either fail to observe the signs or ignore the signs.

I think we’re given a lot of leeway when we first become aware of something we’re being called to do. We’re given a sort of grace period, a Divine time out, during which we have the opportunity to make peace with what is being asked of us. The Universe gives us a break and understands why we’re not doing what we know we must. So there are no immediate consequences to failing to heed the guidance. The Universe understand that we’re only human.

The Grace Period Ends

But then one day, the grace period is over, and what we’re being called to do becomes urgent. The signs from the Universe start coming fast and furious. The Universe is not going to let you off the hook any longer.

At this point, you still have a choice. You have free will. But if you don’t act on what is being asked of you once your grace period is over, things will start being reorganized for you, and you may feel like you no longer have a choice. You’ll get fired from that job you’ve known you’re supposed to quit. The relationship you’ve been thinking about ending will end without your choice. Your life will start reorganizing in order to make this thing that must happen inevitable, until you’re laughing or crying at how obvious it is that you’re NOT LISTENING to what you’re being guided to do.

When It’s Time To Surrender

That’s when you finally throw your hands up and say, “I give!” You surrender. You strap on your seatbelt because you know you’re about to go for the ride of your life, and it’s a ride you can’t control, so you might as well throw your hands up and yell, “WHEEEEEEEE!” You’ll feel the butterflies, the roller coaster feeling in your belly, and it will just be a sign that you’re on the right path, even though you don’t know where you’re going.
