If he want to negotiate the increment, fine. But to expect to stay in the apartment for six months for free while he search for another apartment, the law will not support him on that. Don’t misled the person please. No law gives you six months to vacate property.

After your rent expires, you are served with owners intention to recover property after 7 days. If you don’t vacate after seven days, landlord takes you to court. In court you tell the the judge how long before you vacate property which can’t be more than 1 month and you must pay the rent for the 1 month. You are not entitled to occupy a property more than a day after your rent expires.

Always get the through position of the law. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
