Names Of Politicians Allegedly Planning To Unseat Tinubu In 2027 Leaked (FULL LIST)

The race to determine Nigeria’s president for the 2027 election has gained significant momentum, with numerous individuals and prominent politicians seeking to displace the current president, Bola Tinubu, Thepapers.ng reports.

This move to unseat the incumbent is largely attributed to his stringent administrative policies, which many Nigerians have identified as major contributors to the prevailing hardships within the country.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the potential for political parties to merge forces to challenge the formidable incumbent president better. Some technocrats argue that he is indeed the right leader to guide the country toward its long-awaited goals, especially after numerous politicians have made their bids across various regions of the nation.

Opposition political leaders, including dissatisfied members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have initiated discussions to establish an alternative political platform to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Recently, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been accused of conspiring to unseat President Tinubu.

PoliticsStep By Step On How To Register A Political Party In Nigeria (2025) by AyoNews(op): 3:54pm On Feb 01, 2025
Step By Step On How To Register A Political Party In Nigeria (2025)

Every citizen in Nigeria has the freedom to sign up for, register and join any political party they choose. In accordance with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution, this is a fundamental right.

Any person interested in running for political office in Nigeria is required by law to be a registered member of a political party. Candidates in Nigeria must be members of political parties, in contrast to some other nations where people can run as “independent candidates.”

Therefore, you are allowed to create and register your own political party if you have viewed the list of political parties and believe that you do not want to join any of them because none of the parties correspond with your own aims and goals. You have this right under the constitution!

The Constitution grants you the right to form a political party, but you must abide by the rules outlined by the Independent Electoral Commission; you cannot simply band together, go to the printers, print banners, t-shirts, and other materials, and declare yourself a new political party (INEC).

HOW TO REGISTER A POLITICAL PARTY IN NIGERIA WITH INEC

The steps necessary in Nigeria to register a political party at INEC are as follows:

STEP 1: ORGANIZE YOURSELF

The name, symbol, and acronym of the proposed party must be unique and not bear any religious, racial, or sectional connotations. As a result, you cannot create a party like the Christian Democrats or the Muslim Republicans.

Then, you must have a chairman, a secretary, and members of the national and state executive committees. All of these offices must have been duly elected since you must give INEC the record of the election’s processes.

A draft Constitution, Code of Conduct, and Manifesto are also required. The Constitution should include clauses that address issues like how elections are held, the prospective party’s organizational structure, and others.

Your new constitution must also adhere to the 1999 Constitution’s Federal Character concept, which states that all leadership positions must reflect Nigeria’s federal structure and should be reflective of the country’s many federating units.

The proposed party must be present in at least 24 states, and the headquarters must be in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

STEP 2: INEC SUBMISSION

You have to pay the sum of N1,000,000 which is non-refundable fee.
Obtain FORM PAI, the relevant form.

1999–2025: How Successive Governments Spent ₦232 Trillion In Budgets - Obasanjo Details To Tinubu

The Nigerian government’s budgetary spending has dramatically increased over the past 27 years (1999–2025), with President Bola Tinubu’s ₦49.74 trillion 2025 budget pushing the total expenditure to ₦232.55 trillion.

According to an analysis by Saturday Vanguard, this amount is roughly equivalent to $667.89 billion based on official exchange rates.

However, using parallel exchange rates, the total would fall below $500 billion.

The total spending is a culmination of annual budgets and supplementary appropriations since 1999, when Nigeria returned to civilian rule.

While the figures appear impressive, Nigeria’s development indicators, including education, housing, and maternal health, tell a different story, raising critical questions about the real impact of this immense fiscal outlay on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Breakdown of Expenditures by Administration

1. Olusegun Obasanjo (1999–2007)

During his two terms, Obasanjo allocated ₦12,332,000,000,000 ($121,350,000,000), representing 5.30% of the 27-year total. This figure includes the budget inherited from General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

2. Umaru Musa Yar’Adua (2007–2010)

Yar’Adua, during his 1,071 days in office, spent ₦10,949,000,000,000 ($79,130,000,000), or 4.71% of the cumulative budget.

3. Goodluck Jonathan (2010–2015)

Jonathan, who succeeded Yar’Adua, oversaw ₦25,296,000,000,000 ($156,569,000,000), making up 10.88% of the total.

4. Muhammadu Buhari (2015–2023)

Buhari allocated ₦97,018,000,000,000 ($228,641,000,000), the largest share of 41.72%. His figure includes a supplementary ₦574,533,000,000 in 2015.

PoliticsPresident Tinubu’s New Year Message To Nigerians by AyoNews(op): 11:24am On Jan 01, 2025
President Tinubu’s New Year message to Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has announced a strategic initiative to address the soaring costs of food and essential drugs by establishing a National Credit Guarantee Company. This move, he said, is part of broader economic reforms aimed at improving living standards and promoting industrial growth in 2025.

"According to a report by The Nation, In his New Year address to the nation, Tinubu highlighted the economic strides made in 2024, including increased foreign reserves, a stronger naira, and record-breaking stock market performance. However, he acknowledged the persistent challenges of inflation and high commodity prices, pledging to tackle these issues head-on.

The National Credit Guarantee Company, expected to commence operations by mid-2025, will be a collaborative effort involving government institutions like the Bank of Industry, Nigerian Sovereign Investment Agency, and Ministry of Finance Incorporated, alongside private sector partners and multilateral organizations. The initiative aims to expand access to credit for underserved groups, particularly women and youth, and to stimulate local manufacturing of critical goods.

Tinubu stressed the importance of financial inclusivity in achieving the government’s ambitious goal of reducing inflation from 34.6% to 15%. “With diligent work and God’s help, we will achieve this goal and provide relief to all our people,” he affirmed.

Additionally, Tinubu urged state governments to align with federal efforts to reduce transportation costs through the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) program. He lauded states that have already embraced CNG-powered public transportation and electric vehicles, describing them as crucial steps toward a sustainable energy future.

The President also used the opportunity to unveil plans for a National Values Charter and a Youth Conference, both slated for the first quarter of 2025. These initiatives aim to foster patriotism, ethical governance, and active participation in nation-building among young Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the President to address pressing issues like insecurity and widespread hunger more urgently. In a statement, the PDP criticized the government’s handling of economic reforms, alleging inefficiency and corruption.

Withdraw All Threat Against Tinubu Now – Presidency Warn Bauchi Gov

The presidency has hit back at Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State over his threat to President Bola Tinubu’s administration regarding the government’s push for the passage and implementation of the controversial tax reform bill.

Recall that on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, during a Christmas homage by the Christian community at the Government House in Bauchi, Mohammed strongly criticised President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform policies, describing the reforms as “anti-northern” and accusing them of favouring only a specific section of the country, thereby neglecting the interests of the northern region.

The governor warned that if the policies persisted, the northern region would be compelled to “show its true colours” in response.

‘You Are A Sycophant, Trader’, Wike Blasts Odili

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has fired back at the former governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili, saying that “an elder statesman should not be a trader and a sycophant all the time.”

A statement signed by the FCT Minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, on Sunday, said Wike spoke at the Special Thanksgiving Service organised by the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Oro-Igwe/Eliogbolo Archdeaconry Church of the Holy Spirit, Eliozu Parish, Port Harcourt, on Sunday.

Olayinka quoted Wike as saying that it was unfortunate that somebody who is supposed to be seen as an elder statesman and called a father can reduce himself to a sycophant and a trader.

He asked; “Must you be a trader all the time? As governor for eight years, what else are you looking for?”

Politics2027: Atiku Can’t Be President – Doyin Okupe Disclose Reason by AyoNews(op): 4:17pm On Dec 26, 2024
2027: Atiku Can’t Be President – Doyin Okupe Disclose Reason

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos, Okupe argued that geopolitical considerations make it unfair for the North to reclaim the presidency after President Bola Tinubu’s tenure.

Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former spokesperson and Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, has stated that the South, not the North, should produce Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos, Okupe argued that geopolitical considerations make it unfair for the North to reclaim the presidency after President Bola Tinubu’s tenure.

Okupe acknowledged that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is eminently qualified to run in 2027.

However, he contended that Atiku’s candidacy would face the same challenges as in 2023 when his bid was perceived as disrupting the North-South power rotation.

The ex-presidential spokesman said the problem with the idea of Atiku’s presidency in 2027 is geopolitics, not age, adding that the South should be allowed to complete its eight-year term, just as the North did before Tinubu’s coming.

Okupe said, “Atiku failed in 2023, not because he was not a good person, but because people felt that a northern Muslim cannot succeed another northern Muslim after eight years.

“If Atiku still contests in 2027, he has a right. He is eminently qualified and one of the best we have, but geopolitics is an issue.

“The conditionality still persists, a Southerner would have just completed four years and needs another four-year term.

“It’s not in the constitution, but we agree that when a Northerner does his eight years, a Southerner will do.

“So, the North cannot now terminate the tenure of the South in 2027. It is not going to work.”

The ex-LP chieftain said Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party could also vie for the highest office in the country in 2027 as a southerner.

He, however, said it would be difficult for Obi to dislodge Tinubu as the President.

“Obi can contest. Obi is a young man, very dynamic and very ambitious; but geopolitics is important in a country that has not achieved horizontal and vertical unity.

“The person who is occupying the place right now, Tinubu, is also a Southerner, who is doing well.

“We can see what this gentleman (Tinubu) is doing. I wish Obi luck, but it is going to be an uphill task,” he said.

On whether alliances of politicians and parties could unseat Tinubu in 2027, Okupe said he did not see any political gang-up working against the president.

According to him, alliances against Tinubu will fail because the participants will not be willing to give concessions.

Okupe stated, “I have been in this game for 40 years and above. I came into politics in 1978. I have been in several talks, and discussions and I have represented my party, and my movement in several alliances.

“We have not attained that maturity to get to the level of being rational and reasonable and ready to give the necessary concession for a group interest. We are not there yet.

“Even if you look at our private businesses, go and check, 90 per cent of business partnerships will crumble within the first three years.

“I wish those who are trying alliance, I wish them luck but it is going to end up the same way it has always ended up. All the alliances will end up in futility.”

On the alliance that brought ex-President Buhari in 2015, Okupe said that though he criticised the alliance, the leader of the alliance, Tinubu, conceded everything to make it work.

“The man who spearheaded that alliance has grown beyond this constitution of naivety and selfishness.

“You put up an alliance, you set up a dining table, you cook food, and say other people should go and eat it. It is not done anywhere.

"It Can't Be Justified" Atiku Reacts On Nigerian Military’s Accidental Bombing

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the accidental bombing by the Nigerian Military on December 25, which reportedly killed 10 people and injured six others in the villages of Rumtuwa and Gidan Sama in the Silame local government area.

The villages, located near the Surame desert, a known hideout for the newly emerging Lakurawa terror group, suffered significant losses in the attack. An estimated 100 animals, including camels, cows, and donkeys, were killed in the attack.

Atiku, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took to social media platform X to react to the attack. He described the airstrike as “(Click To finish Your Reading^^) an outrage that must be condemned in the strongest terms.”

Atiku questioned the lessons learned from past tragedies, citing the December 3, 2023, airstrike on a religious gathering at Tudun Biri, near Kaduna, which he said claimed tens of innocent lives. He stressed the need for precision and irrefutable intelligence in targeting terrorists, stating that “the indiscriminate killing of innocent citizens… can never be justified.”

The former Vice President appealed for an end to the “tragic cycle of death” and urged the government to learn from past mistakes. He extended his condolences to the grieving families and the people of Sokoto, saying, “May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”

His words: The devastating airstrike that claimed the lives of nearly a dozen innocent civilians and left many others wounded in the peaceful communities of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa in Sokoto State is an outrage that must be condemned in the strongest terms.

But this tragedy begs the question: What have we truly learnt from the heart-wrenching losses of the past? On December 3, 2023, tens of innocent lives were lost in a brutal airstrike on a religious gathering at Tudun Biri, near Kaduna. How many more lives must be lost before we take action?

While targeting terrorists is a legitimate goal, these strikes must be carried out with unmatched precision and based on irrefutable intelligence. The indiscriminate killing of innocent citizens — our brothers, our sisters, our neighbors— can never be justified. It is not only a failure but a gross violation of humanity itself.

Notorious Bandit Bello Turji Blame Troop Over Arrests, Vow Reprisals On Villagers

Bello Turji also blamed the arrest on intelligence provided by the residents of the areas, whom he said would face the consequences of their actions.

Notorious terrorism kingpin Bello Turji has said suspects recently arrested by the Nigerian military are not bandits and has threatened the residents of the surrounding communities over the arrests.

Mr Turji, in a video released on Christmas Day, said that those arrested were ‘innocent’ elderly people in his ancestral community.

The Director of Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Buba Edward, a major general, on 20 December said soldiers had arrested some lieutenants of Mr Turji during an operation.

Mr Edward named those arrested as Bako Wurgi, Hamisu Sale (aka Master), and Abubakar Muhammad.

He said Mr Wurgi was suspected to be linked to the murder of a Sokoto monarch.

“The arrested terrorist leader, Bako Wurgi, eventually succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the firefight. He, nevertheless, provided valuable intelligence to support troops’ operations before he died,” Mr Edward said.

But five days after the statement, Mr Turji, surrounded in the video by armed men brandishing sophisticated arms, said the military did not capture the three suspects in a battle, but arrested them in market places and in the hospital. CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE

Mr Turji also blamed residents of the areas for providing information to the military that led to the arrests, vowing to punish the communities for their actions.

“The message is for the residents of Zamfara and Sokoto States, specifically, residents of Shinkafi, to release our brothers who are with them; otherwise, the year 2025 is going to be deadly for them with frequent kidnapping for ransom,” he said.

“Edward Buba, look at the elderly people you arrested. They are above 75 years old. And look at me. I am 35 years old, and you said those people you arrested are my accomplices. Edward Buba, be mindful of what you are telling people. If you cannot go to the battlefield, go inside your room and rest and stop lying to the people,” Mr Turji said.

He also challenged the military to display the guns it claimed soldiers seized from the bandits at battle. “Display them to the people if you fought the battle with us,” he said.

“Our brothers whom you arrested were picked up at the markets and others in the hospital. We never fought any battle with you. If you actually want to fight us, not our parents, you know where we are. Come, let us fight.

BREAKING NEWS: WAPCo Set to Launch Pipeline Cleaning and Inspection on November 25

The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) has announced that it will begin a planned cleaning and inspection of the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) on Monday, November 25, 2024.

In a statement, WAPCo explained that this comprehensive maintenance exercise is a critical regulatory and safety measure designed to ensure safety and efficiency in operations.

The inspection will span the entire pipeline infrastructure, from Itoki in Ogun State, Nigeria, to Takoradi in Ghana’s Western Region.

“This initiative reflects WAPCo’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the WAGP and ensuring its safe, reliable operation across the West African region, in line with industry best practices,” the statement added.

“The project will be in two phases. The first phase, which begins on Monday, November 25, involves the cleaning and inspection of the onshore section of the pipeline, which is located in Nigeria. This first phase is scheduled to last for 10 days. WAPCo has engaged relevant stakeholders ahead of this exercise and does not anticipate any major disruption to gas transportation services to customers.”

Tinubu's Team Divided on Infrastructure Protection and National Grid Issues

LAGOS – Nigerians from critical sectors of the economy have expressed mixed feelings over separate committees set up by organs of the Federal Government to oversee endangered infrastructure now being daily vandalized.

A special team has been set up by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, ostensibly for the protection of critical infrastructure while parallel teams emerged elsewhere in the public sector within a short time to address almost similar issues.

Bishop Herbert Ekechukwu, an economist and cleric, one of those who spoke to Sunday Independent on the issue, maintained that setting up a team for the protection of government properties by National Security Adviser could indeed be an effective measure to address vandalisation of public infrastructure and potential national grid collapse.

Dr Ekechukwu, however, stressed that the team alone cannot solve all the problems, although it will enhance public safety and confidence as well as enhance better interagency coordination.

It would be recalled that Ribadu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police and one-time Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had few days ago launched the initiative which he believes would bolster the security of Nigeria’s critical infrastructure amidst rising threats from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and economic sabotage.

The National Grid, for instance, has collapsed for about nine times within this year, a development attributed to terrorism onslaughts, vandalisation and economic sabotage.

This strategic effort was unveiled during the inauguration of the Federal Coordinating Council for the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (FCCCNAIP) in Abuja.

The council, chaired by Ribadu, was tasked with securing vital national assets, including energy grids, communication networks, and essential services.

PROTECTION Of NATIONAL ASSETS

Speaking at the inauguration, Ribadu had emphasised the importance of critical infrastructure to national security and economic development.

The team members included Ahmed Audi, Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who would act as its secretary, as well as “heads of security agencies and other relevant stakeholders”.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior was listed as the Council’s Co-Chairman.

Dr Ekechukwu stated: “There should be collaboration with private security experts. The team should maintain synergy with community policing.

“There should be enhanced physical security measures like CCTV access control as well as remote sensing.

“The following challenges will render such problems ineffective unless these challenges are tackled first. These challenges include funding and resources control, security needs and adequate funding.

“Most times, due to corruption, money meant for projects, is embezzled.

“Secondly, the problem of coordination among multiple agencies. This leads me to the concept of a goat owned by the community, which always dies of hunger because of lack of food.

“There is also the issue of addressing corruption and insider threats. Corruption is like a pin in a bloated balloon. So, corruption issues should be addressed. The council should be on top of the situation before it occurs.”

Also contributing, Dr Rexkennedy Saltlove, a human rights activist, said: “I would like to first commend the government for doing all it can to protect its assets and properties, as damages to them will greatly impact on them negatively, hindering the delivering on the promises for good governance.

“However, like I have always insisted about this government, it is very reactionary. A reactive government can seldom make headway in anything.

“People destroying government properties and ensuring national grid collapse under whatever guise, are expressing their frustration with a failed leadership and systems that have not met up to their expectation in the barest minimum.

“Setting up a ‘protection team’, is addressing the symptom and not the root causes. This will not provide a permanent solution to such.

“Has the government sat down to set up a committee to know what are the immediate and remote causes of vandalisation of government properties and how to address them?

“If such a committee was ever set up and any recommendations were made, what has been the approach and outcome?

Involving the NSA in the issue of internal matters to me, is another means of feeding the boy who recently was shouting on television praising the president and calling him by name that he cannot be defeated…Yet, terrorists from other countries are infiltrating our borders, using different names and leaders that lead the new terror group, like Lakurawa, which the NSA mentioned which is operating in the North West of Nigeria.

“Government should, through the National Orientation Agency (NOA), sensitise the citizens on what patriotism is and the impact of destruction of properties on them.

“But, truth must be told, you can only teach patriotism to citizens who are satisfied and not hungry. And the government should see how that is addressed.”

However, feelers from government quarters indicate singing of discordant tunes and haphazard actions over the protection of infrastructure and the National Grid, as the Federal Government had earlier set up a forensic investigative committee to address the incessant grid collapses, one of the areas the council set up by Ribadu is supposed to address.

Also, Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, had also constituted another committee after an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) last Tuesday.

FORENSIC INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE

In a statement by Bolaji Tunji, the minister’s media aide, Adelabu, during the meeting, expressed displeasure over the incident, saying it was “capable of rubbishing the giant strides made in the last one year which had led to an increased generation and distribution of 5,527 megawatts, a record generation in three years.”

He said the forensic investigation committee was mandated to advise the government on necessary solutions to make the national grid robust and reliable.

“The committee is to also establish the root cause of both incidents, especially a review of potential sabotage on the system,” Tunji said.

“The committee will holistically review the national grid stability and identify investments and technical capacities required to make the grid smart and resilient.”

The minister also constituted a six-member technical committee to access the critical nodes on the national grid to identify potential vulnerabilities.

According to Tunji, the committee is to proffer recommendations to address the vulnerabilities to prevent future disruptions to the grid.

The six-member committee is headed by Nafisat Ali, Executive Director of the Independent System Operator (ISO).

Others are “Chidi Ike, commissioner, NERC, Engr. Ishola (GM. National Control Centre (NCC) , Engr. Emmanuel Nosike, Director, Transmission, Federal Ministry of Power (FMoP), Engr. Ali Sharifai (GM, Transmission Service Provider (TSP) and Mr. Adedayo Olowoniyi, Chief Technical Adviser to the Minister of Power.

“The team is expected to present a report to the Hon. Minister by November 1, 2024,” Tunji added.

Yet, in another move, the National Economic Council (NEC), at the weekend, rose from its monthly meeting at the State House, Abuja, with a resolution to reinforce implementation of the National Electrification Strategy in a bid to end the constant collapse of the nation’s power grid.

Rivers Crisis: Take It Easy, Bode George Urged Wike

Elder statesman and seasoned politician Bode George has urged Nyesom Wike, the FCT's minister, to put an end to his dispute with Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State. During a news conference, George voiced his worries about the persistent conflict inside the PDP and chastised party officials for not resolving the matter.

He emphasised that no one should be permitted to keep the party hostage or cause instability for their own selfish reasons.

George reportedly questioned Wike's behaviour, pointing out that Wike had previously taken pride in helping Fubara become governor, according to the Daily Post. He was disappointed that Wike, who is currently headquartered in Abuja, was still meddling in Rivers State politics.

George urged Wike to approach political participation with more deference, pointing out that previous governors had not behaved in a similar manner.

George cautioned that such tensions could lead to the PDP's fragmentation. He cited Wike's recent public threats against colleague governors and chastised the PDP leadership for not taking urgent steps to confront his disruptive behaviour.

While conceding that the APC government had not taken action against Wike, George maintained that the PDP must step up to maintain discipline and unity within its ranks.

In a direct plea to Wike, George acknowledged the former governor's dissatisfaction with the PDP's presidential primary but encouraged him .....CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶ https://leadnaija.com/rivers-crisis-take-it-easy-bode-george-urged-wike/

“It Is A Wrong Strategy Not To Reward Your Own Allies"- APC Chieftain Tells Tinubu

A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Cletus Obun, has urged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider his approach to political appointments, warning that neglecting loyal party members could have severe consequences.

Speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, Obun criticised Tinubu’s handling of appointments, describing it as a dangerous misstep that could alienate the party faithful.

He noted that those who worked tirelessly for Tinubu’s 2023 election victory feel sidelined.

“It is a wrong strategy not to reward your own allies. It would surely boomerang. In a developing democracy such as this, it is a brazen affront to loyalty,” Obun stated.

Highlighting the long-standing issue, he compared the current administration’s reward system to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which he deemed equally poor.

“APC had the worst reward system under Buhari, and today we’re seeing the repeat. A man works like an elephant and eats like an ant. It’s not correct,” he said.

Obun expressed concerns that Tinubu’s advisers may be steering him toward a dangerous path by downplaying the contributions of loyal supporters.

JUST IN: 68 Obaseki Political Associates Secure Court Injunction Against Police Arrest

No fewer than 68 political associates of former Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki have been granted a restraining order by the State High Court, shielding them from arrest by the Nigerian Police.

The order is linked to a petition filed in July 2024 by the Acting State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group includes political appointees, local government chairmen, aides, and other associates of the former governor.

They approached the court through their counsel, Olayiwola Afolabi (SAN), seeking protection against what they described as unlawful arrests and detentions.

The lawsuit, marked B/266M/2024, names the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, the Deputy Inspector of Police (Force CID Abuja), and the Police Service Commission (PSC) as respondents.

Justice A. T. Momodu issued the interim injunction, barring the respondents and their agents from arresting, detaining, or inviting the applicants for questioning regarding the APC chairman’s petition.

In the ruling, Justice Momodu stated: “An order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining the respondents either by themselves, police officers in their department, and/or any police officer acting under their instruction from inviting, arresting, and detaining the applicants in any of the respondents’ offices in respect of the petition written by the chairman of All Progressives Congress (Edo State) dated 18/07/2024,

Rivers Saga: ‘Illiterate Government’ – Wike Mocks Fubara

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has mocked the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing his administration as an illiterate government.

LeadNaija reports that the rift between Wike and Fubara has been intensely debated, sparking tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.

Speaking at a luncheon organised in honour of the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, Wike slammed Fubara over the spending in the state without a budget.

According to the former Governor, Fubara is taking a matter that should be filed at the federal high court to the state high court.

His statement reads in part: “The state assembly is challenging an illiterate government that you have no right to be spending money without a budget, and therefore, the Central Bank, Accountant General, cannot continue to release funds when it is not being budgeted.”

Wike Labels Atiku A “Serial Loser”

Meanwhile, Wike has responded sharply to former Vice, President Atiku Abubakar, branding him a “serial loser” following Atiku’s commendation of the recent local government elections in Rivers State.

Wike’s comments come in the wake of the Action Peoples Party (APP) winning 22 out of the 23 local government chairmanship positions in the elections, a result Atiku suggested reflected the people’s rejection of Wike’s leadership.
