"I’m writing this because I really want to let you know some truths but don’t think I could ever keep it together long enough to say it to you in person, also I figured this might be a way in which you can take your time over it, look back at it and take new things from it each time instead of trying to remember words said to you by an emotional person when you’re feeling emotional yourself. Like you used to say to me, don’t just pick out the negative parts.
I really hope this doesn’t make you feel sad or bad in any way, it’s not my intention whatsoever, there’s no sarcasm here and no ill will at all. I also hope it doesn’t come across as patronising, it’s not meant to. I really think I need some space right now to focus on myself, it’s been a really tough week or two for me now, finding out what you’ve been up to, I’m totally convinced, there’s no doubt in my mind that one day you’ll be the master of how you feel and be more in control of your life than you could possibly imagine right now, I promise that feeling the way you do now will be a painful but very distant memory that will only serve to help keep you happier and in a better place. Trust me on that one, I’ve been there. You’re only just starting your journey to feeling better, counseling (if they’re the right one for you) is a great way to get better, it took me almost 4 years to find out who I am and believe me when I say that I was almost certainly feeling just as bad, if not worse than you seem to be now. I’m gutted I probably won’t get the chance to see and meet the Hayley that I know in my heart you truly are, just think how much and how hard I’d fall for you then!
There are so many people in the world who will be happy to put you down, make you sad, make you feel useless and try to control and manipulate you. You do not need to do it for them. Don’t listen to them and don’t believe what they say, the truly good ones who are worth bothering with are worth more than gold and will show themselves to you, like I said try not to push them away. It sounds so easy when I write it down now, I don’t mean to trivialise it, it’s not easy in practice.
“Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts and don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours”. If someone doesn’t deserve you then don’t afford them the luxury.
I’m not going to say goodbye right now because in my heart I have to admit to hoping to one day bump into you again, maybe it’ll be in years when we’ve both got our own families and are seriously sorted individuals, who knows what the future holds. I also want to leave the door open for you to have a chat, laugh or even a vent some time with someone who isn’t middle aged, a teacher or a family member. I won’t be expecting to hear from you, there’s no pressure to do it but don’t feel that you can’t. You know me well enough to know I like to talk shit and have a laugh. As far as I’m concerned we were friends before anything else and I don’t want us to finish on bad terms with any resentment, no hard feelings.
