Aremo Kayode Ademola : A man of Noble birth with impeccable character

_Mankind will never see an end of trouble until lovers of wisdom come to hold political power or the holders of power become lovers of wisdom - Anonymous_

In as much as there is no single and absolute definition of leadership, the traits and purpose are universally the same. Leadership is a call to serve, inspire and mentor the led, to discover themselves and inspire them to attain the highest and best expressions of themselves for the benefit of all.

A leader is an all-rounder; witty, intelligent, visionary, motivator and a man of many parts. Based on his antecedents, Aremo Kayode Ademola perfectly fits these descriptions and many more. He is a dependable motivator among his people. His personal contribution to the growth of Sagamu and empowerment of youths are ingrained not just in the sands of time but in the hearts of men and women, the young and the old.

Aremo Kayode is irrevocably committed to make positive contributions to the lives of the disenchanted youths, hopeless men and women, irrespective of their political, religious or ethnic cleavages. These, among other plans are what he has rightly put in place for execution if (by God's grace) emerge as the Executive Chairman of Sagamu local government in the forthcoming council election.

It is however no gain saying that, the local government, which is the third tier of government in Nigeria, is the nearest to the people of the grassroots. It is a structure that provides for the goods and services needed by the people and to also bring development and good governance to the local level. This is why it is equally pertinent to be careful in electing one who would be saddled with the responsibility. And known to many, Aremo Kayode is a man of noble birth whose impeccable character has earned him so much courtesy from both young and old in and outside Sagamu. He's a man who believes in potential and is willing to stem the tide of fruitless governance in Sagamu.

Let's come together and say YES to the man who poised and equipped to serve us diligently. If it is the voice of the people, it is the voice of the Lord.

Support, Embrace and Vote *Aremo Kayode Ademola* as Chairman, Sagamu local government.

PoliticsNASS Election Petition Tribunal Receives 5 Petitions In Ogun by Azeez82(op): 8:12am On Mar 20, 2019
NASS Election Petition Tribunal Receives 5 Petitions In Ogun

Abeokuta – The Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal has received five petitions challenging the result of two Senate and three House of Representatives Elections conducted on Saturday, February 23 in the State.

Ayoola Sosanwo, the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun East Senatorial District is challenging the victory of Olalekan Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was returned winner of the election.

Mustapha was declared the winner of the election after polling 85,761 votes to defeat Sosanwo, his closest rival who was credited with 83,528 votes.

In the petition tagged EPT/OG/NASS/SEN/03/2019, Sosanwo is praying the tribunal to void the return of Mustapha on the group that he was not duly elected; declare the election inconclusive and order rerun in three wards in Ijebu East, Sagamu and Ijebu North East local governments; and in the alternative, withdraw the certificate of returns from Mustapha and issues him same within 24 hours of judgement.

In the same vein, the candidate of the PDP in Ogun West Senatorial District, Odunjo Odunleye is also challenging the result which returned Tolu Odebiyi of the APC as the Senator-Elect of the District.

Odebiyi was declared the winner of the election having polled 56,452 votes with the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Olusegun Gbelegi scoring 48,691 while Odunjo scored 45,454 votes.

INDEPENDENT observed that there are discrepancies in the figures quoted by Odunjo before the tribunal and the results recorded in INEC form EC8E(I).
In the petition titled EPT/OG/NASS/SEN/04/2019, the petitioner, who joined APC and INEC as respondents, is seeking the relief of the court to declare the result of the election as number and void and to conduct a fresh election within 21 days of the decision of the tribunal in the Senatorial District.

In the House of Representatives Election, Sunmonu Monsuru of the PDP, is challenging the return of Ojugbele Jimoh of APC in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency arguing that the election was marred by irregularities, corrupt practices and non-compliance with electoral laws.

In the petition titled EPT/OG/NASS/REP/05/2019, the petitioner indicated that Ojugbele was credited with 24,134 votes while he scored 15,763 votes.

The petitioner argued that agents of his political party were not allowed to vote as they were allegedly harassed, intimidated, manhandled and teargassed by police and thugs.
He further alleged that card readers and voter’s register were not verified; ballots not counted openly while over voting were allegedly allowed in polling booths.
He prayed the election to be declared null and void adding that the court should order a fresh election or rerun within 21 days of the decision of the tribunal.

In Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East federal constituency, Taiwo Kabir Shote of the PDP is also challenging the return of Osusanya Kolapo Korede of APC as the winner of the election.

Shote argued that Korede did not win the majority of lawful votes cast in the Constituency and that the result is declared inconclusive and rerun ordered in wards where votes were cancelled.

In the grounds of his petition tagged EPT/OG/NASS/REP/02/2019, Shote said about 10, 846 votes were cancelled in Ward 8, Ijebu North East; Ward 5 Unit 5 in Ijebu Ode and Ward 10 Unit 3 in Odogbolu.

The petitioner maintained that, though there was no basis for the cancellation of results in those polling units, the margin of victory was less than the cancelled votes which, according to him, should have compelled INEC to declare the result inconclusive.
Meanwhile, a PDP aspirant in Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Harrison Adeyemi, has also approached the tribunal challenging the nomination of Adekoya Adesegun as the candidate of the party.

Adesegun was declared the winner of the election in the Constituency.
Adeyemi argued that he was validly nominated by the PDP at a primary conducted for the purpose but allegedly and unlawfully excluded from contesting the election.
He’s seeking the relief of the court in suit number EPT/OG/NASS/REP/01/2019 to declare him the winner of the election, set aside the certificate of returns issued to Adesegun and order the INEC to issue him a fresh one.

Ogun 2019: Kashamu gets Alake's royal blessing

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Buruji Kashamu, on Monday received royal blessing from the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

Kashamu, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, paid a visit to the monarch at his palace in Ake, Abeokuta.

During the visit, Kashamu vowed to guarantee full Local Government financial autonomy if elected on March 2 gubernatorial election in the state.

The lawmaker argued that lack of resource control by council chairmen has been the bane of underdevelopment at the grassroots in Nigeria.

He also promised to raise thousands of business women across the state as part of "stomach infrastructure scheme" to fight poverty.

The governorship candidate pointed out that he won't disparage the outgoing governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to seek vote rather he vowed to "surpass achievements of all governments in the state."

His words "I am not running for governorship to steal money in government. But, I am thankful to God for what he has done for me.

"First, I want to pledge that my own government will be the last government that would hijack Local Government funds. I will sign undertaken in that regard. The problems we have seen in many states in the country is that Local Government administrations are not allowed to manage their allocations directly in a way that would guarantee development at the grassroots.

"I pledge that, my own government will never, be it four years or eight years, sit on LG allocations for a second. I will allow the funds to flow down into the LG accounts for the chairmen to decide on how to use it for the development of their areas."

In his response, Oba Gbadebo urged Kashamu to walk the talk if emerged as governor in the interest of the state.

Ogun PDP crisis: Adebutu's thugs destroy Kashamu's campaign buses

The protracted crisis within the Ogun State assumed a worrisome dimension on Sunday (today) when thugs loyal to the lawmaker representing Remo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu vandalised campaign buses of the Kashamu/Abati Campaign Organisation.

The thugs were led by three guys who were simply identified as Eniba, Scorpion and Easy.

The lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu and Adebutu were among the dignitaries who graced the Annual thanksgiving service of the former Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel in Sagamu.

Kashamu and Adebutu have been locked in a battle of wits - until recently - over the control of the Ogun State PDP structure and the Governorship ticket which Kashamu holds.

According to an eye-witness account, trouble, it was learnt, started when Adebutu spurned attempts by Kashamu to exchange pleasantries with him at the Tabernacle of His Glory venue of the service.

Surprised at Adebutu's petulant behaviour, Senator Kashamu quietly walked away to greet other dignitaries.

But, as he walked away, someone was said to muttered that Adebutu should respect his superiors.

Angered by the comment, Adebutu reportedly pushed the man who almost fell in the church.

On regaining balance, the man was said to have retaliated by raining some blows on Adebutu.

Unable to control his anger, Adebutu stormed out of the church auditorium despite the entreaties from the host and other guests.

He and a former Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Prince Daisi Akintan, who were threatening fire and brimstone as they stormed out were later said to have ordered their thugs to attack Senator Kashamu and his supporters.

Hell was let loose and the cudgel, matchete and gun-wielding thugs began to attack people, vandalising vehicles, banners, posters and billboards, even as they shot sporadically into the air.

It took the intervention of a combined team of armed security men from the Police, State Security Service (SSS), the
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Vigilance Service (NVS) before normalcy was restored.

But, by the time the dust settled, no fewer than five buses branded in the name of the Kashamu/Abati Campaign Organisation had been vandalised, leaving in its wake smashed and broken screens and smithereens of glass.

The incident was said to have reported at the Area Command of the Nigeria Police in Sagamu.

KASHAMU, OTHERS SHUT DOWN ABEOKUTA FOR PDP

The ancient city of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital was literally shut down on Thursday as Senator Buruji Kashamu and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyalists stormed the city to unveil the party's aspirants for the 2019 general election.

Kashamu, representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, was purportedly expelled by the PDP national leadership alongside three other chieftains of the party.

But the lawmaker, in an apparent show of strength, made a grand entry to the party secretariat located along the Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta, where he vowed to mobilize relentlessly for the PDP to succeed in 2019.

Thousands of PDP members and supporters across the 20 local government areas of the state defied the rains to participate in the event.

In his remarks, Kashamu faulted the sanction meted out on him, saying any attempt to expel him amounts to "effort in futility."

The senator, who was accompanied by the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Chief Adebayo Dayo; Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Segun Seriki, who were purportedly expelled, argued that he enjoys the support of the people and court protection from expulsion.

He said, "How can somebody expel you when you are committed to the party? The party does not belong to an individual. I want to authoritatively inform you that I, Senator Buruji Kashamu, remain a member of PDP. Aside from that, I have court order that protects me from being expelled by anybody.

"Any attempt to expel me is effort in futility. You know general election is coming, that is why all of you should go out to mobilize to succeed in 2019.

"Very soon, there will be official declaration. My struggle at the national is to liberate the masses from the oppressed."

On his part, the State PDP Chairman, Dayo, said the PDP remains loved by the generality of the people.

He also took a swipe at the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, saying he was treading on the path of illegality by seeking to expel him and others.

Dayo said, "Today, a man that is expelled from the party by Uche Secondus is having so much followers. I did not come here to bring food for everybody but we have genuine followers in Ogun State. And today, we are celebrating our aspirants.

"We never had so much crowd at this secretariat, but because people are very much annoyed about the pronouncement expelling Adebayo Dayo, the chairman of PDP in Ogun State and Prince Buruji Kashamu, the good senator representing Ogun East. You can see that we are accepted by the people, not because of money, not because of anything, but, because the people have genuine love for us.

"I can tell you that come 2019, we are going to win in Ogun State. This is the only place where we have PDP. I am not the factional chairman of PDP, I am the executive chairman of the party until April 2020."

A 2019 House of Representatives hopeful for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Barrister Taiwo Shote (BTS), has lauded the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and the lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, for their decision to resolve their differences, saying it will reunite and reposition the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general election.

In a statement issued by his media office on Tuesday, Shote described "the decision of both leaders to end their age-long political differences as divinely-inspired, especially in this Holy month of Ramadan".

The statement reads in part: "As one of the few people who saw first-hand the camaraderie, respect and love that both leaders showed towards each other when they met in Abuja last week, I can say it is the beginning of bigger and better things to come the way of our great party, the PDP in Ogun State.

"His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is an experienced politician, leader and proven organiser. Senator Kashamu is a political strategist and a grassroot mobilizer. Nothing is as good as having both of them under one umbrella.

"The electorate have not been happy that the party that brought so much development to Ogun State is in disarray. They have been yearning for reconciliation and unity. That is what our leaders have begun and it behoves on all of us as followers to key into it.

"Our party now has an unbeatable team to tackle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and displace it. We are approaching 2019 elections as a formidable team."

Shote urged party faithful to swing into action in their respective local government areas and wards by spreading the gospel of the unity of the foremost leaders of the party to the electorate.

"We need to let them know that our leaders - His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (Governor of Ogun State 2003 -2011) and Distinguished Senator Buruji Kashamu - have hearkened to their plea, resolved their differences and reunited," Shote said.

He also commended the lawmaker Representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Senator Ben-Murray Bruce for seeing through the peace initiative.

PoliticsMakarfi Should Resign Now ! by Azeez82(op): 7:13pm On Nov 21, 2017
Makarfi should resign now !

It is increasingly disturbing and rather untidy the role Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee is presently playing in the processes towards the party national convention on December 9, this year.
Apparently spurred by personal ambition of contesting for the Presidential office in 2019, Makarfi is brazenly allying with a particular aspirant in the South-South to deliberately distort the process, muddle equity and invariably destroy the democratic process for transient personal gains.
Makarfi’s Action, to put it mildly, is sickening, untoward, blatantly tendentious , totally stripped of the typical moral high ground that often defines a well meaning, God- fearing arbitrating leadership.
Everywhere you look, Makarfi is planting the agents of his favorite South-South candidate to stage manage warped and skewed congresses in an undisguised mockery of all the normative patterns of our founding fathers whose enduring forte about equity, justice and fairness is now being flung into the gutter. In a way, Makarfi is evidently resolved to repeat the farcical malady that characterized the debacle in Port Harcourt last year.
We have equally resolved that we will not be led along this ruinous path again. Never !
For the sake of propriety, for the sake of all that is good and meaningful, for the sake of equitable balance and moral appropriateness, we strongly advise Senator Makarfi to resign his position forthwith because he has been severely compromised. He can no longer play the role of a neutral arbiter who stands far above the fray. He is already tarred and soiled in the muddy waters of partisan prejudice. Makarfi should now do the most honorable thing by walking away and face his ambition squarely. He cannot use a privilege non-elective position to wangle undue advantages to his own side. It is patently unacceptable.
We need to redeem our party by being faithful to the great ideals of our founding fathers. We really believe that elders of the party across the nation should summon an emergency summit to deliberate on the right way to restrategize our party and rectify the wrongs on the ground . All the elders across the zones must take it as a priority that this party can only be redeemed and restore to its winning ways when we are all sincere, genuine, and anchored on the path of salvaging righteousness.

Kashamu: Makarfi’s tenure is a disaster

Introduction

The tenure of the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC), Senator Ahmed Makarfi is a disaster and the worst nightmare for our party. Going by the outcome of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, it is clear that Makarfi and his allies have brought ill-luck to the PDP.

Makarfi and his team came as if they were the saviour that PDP was waiting for but they have turned out to be the ones who are killing the party with their illegality, impunity and self-centredness. They believe they can do anything and get away with it. They did it in Anambra where all the popular aspirants were disenfranchised and the ticket was sold against democratic norms. Today, the party is the worse off for the dastardly act of these interim caretakers. It was bad enough that the interim National Secretary, Senator Ben Obi lost his ward; that the constituents were rejoicing over his disgraceful loss is indicative of outright communal irrelevance. This calls for concern from our national leaders that specialise in unreasonable harmonisations and impositions of unpopular candidates over the popular ones.

The Issue

Ahead of the December 9 National Convention, it is regrettable that Makarfi is surprisingly betraying his primordial constituency, the North and reducing the PDP to a Southern or regional party because of his selfish presidential agenda. But, I know that the average Northerner is politically conscious, sagacious and dynamic. Thus, logic is likely to prevail over the thinking that elections at the national convention shall be a bazaar for the highest bidder, irrespective of the likely hazard to the existence of the party, would be averted. This will discourage the misappropriation of state funds for unworthy political misadventures.

At the rate Makarfi and his people are going, anyone who wants to become anything in PDP would have to first go and pay obeisance to a demi-god in Rivers State and his orchestra special assistant from Afao-Ekiti, Ekiti State. One is thus tempted to wonder why Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike wants to become the defacto lord of PDP? And to what advantage would that be to him if the party is dismembered in the process?

Even though I know that our respectable leader and Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike means well for the party, he should endeavor to be a national leader without self-aggrandisement. He should not allow Makarfi and Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose to mislead him and plunge the party further into avoidable crises because of their egocentric agenda.

I reckon that in the build up to the National Convention and the election of national officers for the PDP, Governor Wike has a right like other governors to support whoever he wishes to support. But as a foremost leader of the party, he should show uncommon grace and leadership at this crucial time so that whatever he does would not be misinterpreted to mean riding roughshod over other stakeholders and leaders.

I do not have anything against his support for the two eminently qualified National Chairmanship aspirants from the South-South. They are respectable leaders and party men for whom I have a lot of admiration. But, having sat with all the leaders of the party in Port Harcourt where the National Chairmanship was zoned to the South-West, if our brothers from the South-South now wish that the position be rezoned to them, a meeting should be called where such a position will be canvassed with a view to getting the confidence and support of the South West geo-political zone. That way, the other offices can be appropriately rezoned without any rancor and ill-feelings.

Makarfi is fragmenting and commercializing the party structures in the South West and giving PDP state structures to the weak and highest bidders against democratic ethos. One wonders how the PDP can make any impact in 2019 with the activities of the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee and its backers. If we say we want to bounce back in 2019, is it with this crop of leaders whose stock-in-trade is imposition, lawlessness, impunity and extortions? How can Fayose who is accused of having benefitted from the N15 billion arms deal lead the PDP to face President Buhari? We all know that in spite of whatever anyone may say, the credibility of the President is unquestionable.

Actually, it is unethical and tactless for Makarfi serving as interim National Chairman of PDP to be justifying ongoing corruption cases as being no impediment to leading the new PDP of Nigerians dream and expectations. Makarfi and his cohorts are planning to rig the National Convention in favour of their anointed candidates before the actual event through manipulations, substitution of real delegates and sundry shady preparations. If the convention is rigged, many people are ready to walk away from the party and it will be “to your tents, O Israel!”

Intricacies of 2019 VP candidate

The ongoing egocentric manipulation of agreed zoning arrangement has become a credibility issue of long-standing future implications with Governor Wike sponsoring a South South candidate to challenge a settled South West National Chairmanship and Governor Fayose declaring for President against the also settled Northern presidency; the precedence is unethically laid for disregard to common agreements.

Therefore, it could be expected that the Vice Presidency would become unduly contentious in the South. This is unfortunate for a party that is planning to form government as the credibility quotient is brought to question with this inconsistency and lack of adherence to agreement.

One wonders if the National Chairmanship goes to the South South, would it be possible for the South East to get the Vice-Presidency in 2019. Are they saying the South West can also vie for the Vice-Presidency alongside the South East in 2019? Or does the South East not have interest in any of the topmost positions again? If it does, why not take a stand and make it known to all and sundry? If the Vice Presidency is not rezoned to the South West, the initial zoning arrangement which conceded the National Chairmanship to the South West should be adhered to.

Otherwise, it shall be politically unsustainable for the South East to have a Vice President under a South South National Chairman. If our brothers in the South-South want, they can back any candidate of their choice from the South West. But it should not be done with impunity and utter disregard for the views and feelings of other stakeholders. We in the South West are one and we are united in our quest to produce the National Chairman. Any semblance of disunity should be discountenanced. Eddy Olafeso was never a product of a valid exercise. So, he is not an issue in the South West PDP and can never speak for us.

Conclusion

Without pretences, party unity and desirable progress are achievable only if the national leadership sincerely adheres to due process and rule of law; be transparent and open to all concerned unlike the ongoing opaque party administration that Makarfi and his cohorts are lawlessly and undeservedly putting the party through.

RE: YEMOJA'S FICTITIOUS REPORT ON PDP CHAIRMANSHIP

My attention has been drawn to a fictitious report by a fledgling online news portal known as www.yemojanewsng.com wherein it claimed that I addressed some members of Omoilu Foundation (not PDP members) on Tuesday and told them that I was opposed to the candidature of a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George and ex-Ogun State Governor,  Otunba Gbenga Daniel but fully in support of the former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran.

Let me state from the outset that the fictitious report is the handiwork of the master of deceit and the chief manipulator in Ogun State,  Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD)  who is sinking in his forlorn ambition to be the National Chairman of our great party.

This is the latest in the series of blackmail and mischief being churned out by Daniel and his hirelings to rescue their floundering campaign.

It is an open secret that I am against the ambition of Daniel and in his desperate attempt to get back at me,  he is spinning all manner of lies and fabricated stories against me.

Only last week, Daniel had instructed his cyber dogs to fabricate many stories and photoshop pictures that will pitch me against some candidates and leaders of our great party.

I wish to state without any equivocation that all the aspirants for the National Chairmanship from the South West and South South are eminently qualified to aspire for the position except Daniel.

Daniel is a political prostitute, a pathological liar and wheeler-dealer who cannot be trusted with the leadership of our party.

What's more, he is standing trial for stealing of public funds,  bribery,  fraudulent conversion of public property and false declaration of assets.

If we make the mistake of electing him as our National Chairman, the party will be put on trial with him and if he is convicted,  then your guess is as good as mine.

All our respectable leaders from the South West who are aspiring for the position of the National Chairman are eminently qualified for the post, and should anyone of them, except Daniel, becomes the National Chairman, our party will be better for it.

Therefore,  our respectable leaders,  elders and party faithful should ignore the antics and rantings of the tamed and outspent "Lion of the West".

Let us be ready to throw our weight and support behind the candidature of any other aspirant but Daniel. As for me,  I am ready to give my all to stop him because of the misfortune that his emergence will bring on our party.

Thank you.

PDP Chairmanship: corruption trial a big obstacle, Kashamu tells Daniel

The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu has countered the claim by the former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel that the corruption charges against him (Daniel) is not an obstacle to his bid to be the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Daniel who spoke in Abuja on Wednesday, when he went to pick his nomination form for the National Chairmanship position of the party, described his trial as persecution by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.

Kashamu in a statement today said in saner climes, anyone standing trial steers clear of running for office until he is vindicated.

Debunking the claim of persecution by Daniel, Kashamu said the corruption started under a PDP-led Federal Government, “so, the claim of being persecuted does not hold water”.

According to him, Daniel’s claim that his trial for corruption is not an obstacle to his aspiration shows that he does not understand the seriousness attached to the position of the National Chairman of an opposition party.

“For someone standing trial for stealing of public funds, bribery, fraudulent conversion of public property and false declaration of assets to claim these do not constitute a hindrance to his aspiration to lead our great party shows that he is not worthy of the high office he seeks to occupy,” he said.

Kashamu stated that the PDP National Chairman is the face of the party, adding that, “If the party elects Daniel who is standing trial for corruption, it is indicative that it (party) condones corruption and it is for corrupt people.

“This perception will adversely affect the party’s fortune. The PDP stands a chance to reinvent itself and improves its rating among the populace if it positions itself as a party that is ready to make a clean break from its sordid past,” he said.

The Senator said the PDP lost the 2015 general election largely because of its perception as a corrupt party for corrupt people.

“We should not repeat the mistake of 2015. This starts with electing who is not tainted by corruption charges or has an image deficit as Daniel,” Kashamu added.

Contrary to Daniel’s assertion that the crisis in the Ogun State chapter of the party was being orchestrated by allies of the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sherrif, Kashamu said the problem has its roots in the inordinate ambition of Daniel and his cohorts to usurp the powers of the validly elected State Executive Committee of the party led by Engr. Adebayo Dayo which had emerged before the national leadership crisis between Sherrif and Senator Ahmed Makarfi broke out.

RE: PURPORTED PLANNED ATTACK ON SENATOR MAKARFI

The attention of the media office of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu has been drawn to some tissues of lies being peddled by the tamed Lion of the West, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and his group to the effect that Senator Kashamu is planning to instigate an attack on the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC), Senator Ahmed Makarfi as he visits Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, today.

We wish to categorically state that this is another lie from the pit of hell. As a responsible organization, the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police could not have issued such an alert. In fact, the purported alert was not credited to any official of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police. We know it came from OGD and members of his waning group.

Clearly, it is a figment of their warped and traumatized imagination. The Distinguished Senator Buruji Kashamu does not have a track record of violence. He is a man of peace who believes in fighting his battles through the instrumentality of the rule of law.

The security agencies and good people of Ogun State know those who have a history and track record of violence, thuggery and politically-motivated killings. The “ziggy master” and his cohorts are adept at plotting and executing evil agenda, and then turning around to accuse others of their sinister motive.

We wish to urge the security agencies to provide adequate security for Senator Makarfi and his entourage as they visit Ogun State, just as our leaders, elders and members are enjoined to come out to give him a rousing welcome.
