Realist2: We saw all these coming, we warned people but they ignored it. As expected it will continue like this no matter how buhari tries why because buhari has so many old scores to settle, so many blood on his head crying for justice. First, buhari as have shown remorse for his past actions, forget about all the past vengeance and as a good leader treat everybody as Nigerian without religion, regional and sectional sentiments but he Failed on these. Believe me, i am not a prophet of doom, but Buhari will try and try but things will move from worse to worst since he does not want to repent, but the moment someone take over from him things will automatically return to normalcy and better. In my research, 87 out of every 100 Nigerians are furiously angry at this administration. You didn't see nothing. You just supported PDP and GEJ, that's all. Oil dependant nation's are feeling the heat too.... Venezuela is at the point of shutting down.......... these Aba economists aren't even glad we haven't gotten to that state yet. Until their brains can connect the dots between low oil prices, low oil production, and it's effect on a Mono product economy like Nigeria, their ignorance is out of this world. My problem with you people is that the SW are known to use their mouth more than anything else Dangote try to built refnery at ILOKO b/w ondo and ogun BUT because OF BUSINESS PROXIMITY HE MOVE IT TO Lagos does it mean that those other two states in SW were unstable...you people talk too much.....Lagos have no excuse not to be ahead of any other state.as a nations former capital with fed infrastructures and fed allocation vested for over 3decades again considering the size of lagos with just 3,345kmsq in size ...so let me here something let other SW state lure investors in the same spirit you are talking about Lagos then i will know the real S-westerners.....mtchewwwww

HurtgenForest: All those condemning the NDA have not told the people of ND what to do.
Talking and talking does not achieve anything in this country. You complain about your resources being taken to develop other regions........ mention any state that recieves as much money as Niger Delta states first. Or do I need to provide the list for you? Now compare their performance to Niger Delta states. Your politicians, leaders and Millitant leaders are some of the richest in Nigeria and you don't even deem it fit to ask "Why"? They own the best houses in Lagos and Abuja and your people for once never mention them in your agitation. They've sold the region already. Those ND states recieve more money than Lagos....... and Lagos has approximately triple their population. But Look at Lagos...... Look at Niger Delta still. The ND region has recieved enough money since 1999 to build at least 3 Eko Atlantic cities but the money just goes into the creeks and disappear. Until you learn to vote in credible leaders, nothing will change in that region...... not even resource control. Your leaders might just end up arming more Millitants than they already have and destabilize the whole country. With the access to money the region had during GEJ'S administration, it's weapons they bought and exported the millitants madness to everywhere the creeks reached....... we're still trying to clean out the southwest of those criminals. Resource control for that region will be a disaster because the people in charge aren't mature enough to handle it. |

obailala: Close your mouth too man, I also live outside the country so I am also privileged to have an unbiased, detribalised and out-of-the-box vantage view of the situation. Besides Abuja (FCT) and Lagos (ex-FCT), kindly point out to me any region or state where the FG has invested anything or which receives this so called 'FG ATTENTION' you and many other indoctrinated ones lamenting about?... And by the way, what exactly do you mean by the "FG refusing to invest or refusing to force/compel investors to invest in the region?"...
Investors go to a location on their own freewill based on 2 main things; 1. A secure and enabling environment, 2. A market for their goods or services.
I cited an example of shoprite Warri being attacked and looted by some idiotic youth of one community late last year. When nonsensical and stupid acts like that are a norm, it beats my imagination why anyone who claims to be unsentimental, objective and smart should be surprised when similar businesses become reluctant to come to the SS; it's even more ridiculous when some persons choose to accuse the FG or 'other tribes' for the indiscretions of these youths.
Regarding the seaports, importers boycotting the SS seaports because of insecurity (pirates and irate youths demanding undue settlements) is what killed those seaports. I don't need to remind you that Igbos are the biggest importers in Nigeria and these businessmen were not foolish when they began opting to go all the way to Lagos instead of using closeby ports.
A businessman takes his business to a place where he hopes to make more money; he doesn't site his business in a location to please people at the expense of his profits. That is the reason why you have Igbo businessmen for example in every corner of Nigeria doing their thing. Capt. Iheanacho is presently making moves to site his planned refinery in Lagos. As foolish as this may seem for most people, the fact remains that it is his sole prerogative. The man is not a fool, he simply cares more about his profits than he cares about trying to develop the SE or please anyone - he's simply a businessman.
You just asked whether the Badagry port is more viable than constructing ports close to the SE; are you aware the proposed port is a stage government initiative?.... Does it make any rational sense to you suggesting that Ambode should build a seaport in the SS or SE?... Like I keep saying, contrary to your claim of not being sentimental, if sentiments aren't obscuring your objectivity, this issue should be commonsensical matter...
And finally, you asked me whether I'm being paid or whether I am yoruba, sorry i'm not being paid by no one and i'm not yoruba. I just can't quietly stand seeing people making baseless arguments, lamenting unnecessarily and throwing lots of common sense and objectivity to the wind all because of some tribal/ethnic/political sentiments. Game over!!! You should copy and save this post of yours, it answers many baseless points raised on this forum. |

CSTR12: I can see how you only called out lagos and not the rest of the backward SW enclave. I am sure you can see the obvious reasons.for that. I am not concerned about akpabio. He was corruptly shortsighted, agreed, but that does not change the fact that akwaibom has the largest coastline in west africa and can serve the eastern industrial hubs and even west africa. Buhari is not your son, he is the president. He was supposed to leverage on the comparative areas of strength and make Nigeria productive not satisfying his cronies and corrupt ethnic godfathers. What kind of backwardness is this? Is this what you mean by sophistication? Don't rule out Ogun and Oyo state. Things are going on there and those States are rising economic giants. I believe those allocations being given to the states are supposed to be used by their Governors to effect development within the state. Projects that span the Nation e.g. Railway and roads (east-west road), major industries (ajaokuta steel), and making revenue generation more stable is enough on their plate right now. Imagine if all states develop a 20yr plan like Lagos and Ogun State and follow it, see if Buhari will oppose it. |
Politics › Re: FEC Approves Seaport For Badagry, Lagos by ba7man(m): 2:21pm On Aug 04, 2016 |
CSTR12: I don't see where i called out the SW in my initial post. My attention is to the FG. I only called out the SW when nitwits were trying to paint such bigoted, backward and unproductive allocation of federal resources as sophistication or ingenious SW governance when we know that is not the case. You're getting it wrong. Only approval is gotten from the FG. Those projects are funded by State / Private investors. Lagos allocations can't achieve zilch compare to what the state undertakes. Good Leadership is what makes the state tick, nothing more...... and that's what attracts the investments. |
Politics › Re: FEC Approves Seaport For Badagry, Lagos by ba7man(m): 2:16pm On Aug 04, 2016 |
CSTR12: Burning bridges is the reason why there is no seaport in akwaibom- the largest and deepest coastline in west africa? Yes, how enlightening, genius. I can see the bridge the SW has built with the rest of the south. Buhari would be there for just 4-8 years. We would see the so-called bridges you have built then. Akpabio footdragged on the issue for 6yrs despite having largest allocations in Nigeria and GEJ in his corner. Lagos state achieved more without receiving any allocation so that nullifies your point that external forces hold back development in the region. When Buhari leaves, progress will continue in Lagos because the State has developmental plans that span decades. |
